The BABAR Collaboration has performed three searches for a light Higgs boson, $A^0$, in radiative Upsilon ($Υ$) decays: $Υ(3S)\toγA^0$, $A^0\toτ^+τ^-$; $Υ(nS)\toγA^0$, $A^0\toμ^+μ^-$ ($n=2,3$); and $Υ(3S)\toγA^0$, $A^0\to$ invisible. Such a Higgs boson ($A^0$) appears in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model, where a light CP-odd Higgs boson couples strongly to $b$-quarks. The searches are based on data samples that consist of $122\times 10^6$ $Υ(3S)$ and $99\times 10^6$ $Υ(2S)$ decays, collected by the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The searches reveal no evidence for an $A^0$, and product of branching fractions upper limits, at 90% C.L., of $(1.5-16)\times 10^{-5}$, $(0.44-44)\times 10^{-6}$, and $(0.7-31)\times 10^{-6}$ were obtained for these searches, respectively. Also, we set the upper limits ${\mathcal {B}}(η_b\toτ^+τ^-)<8%$ and ${\mathcal {B}}(η_b\toμ^+μ^-)<0.9%$.
I present BaBar latest results for the direct search of a light CP-odd Higgs boson using radiative decays of the Y(nS) (n=1,2,3) resonances in different final states. I also present the results for the search of a hidden sector gauge and Higgs bosons using the full BaBar datasample.
We report on the search for the decay $Υ(1S) \to γA^0$, $A^0 \to gg$ or $s\bar s$, where $A^0$ is the pseudoscalar light Higgs boson predicted by the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model. A sample of $\sim 18 \times 10^6$ $Υ(1S)$ resonances, produced in the BaBar experiment via $e^+e^- \to Υ(2S) \to π^+π^-Υ(1S)$, is used for this search. No significant signal has been found, and upper limits at the $90\%$ of confidence level are set on the product branching fraction of the process.
We search for evidence of a light Higgs boson (A0) in the radiative decays of the narrow Upsilon(3S) resonance: Upsilon(3S) -> gamma A0, where A0 -> invisible or A0 -> mu+mu-. Such an object appears in extensions of the Standard Model, where a light CP-odd Higgs boson naturally couples strongly to b-quarks. We find no evidence for such processes in a sample of 122 million Upsilon(3S) decays collected by the BaBar collaboration at the PEP II B-factory, and set 90% C.L. upper limits on the product of the corresponding branching fractions. We also set a limit on the di-muon branching fraction of …
Several new-physics (NP) models predict the existence of low-mass Higgs states and light dark matter candidates. Previous BABAR searches have given null results for these new states and have excluded large regions of the NP models parameter space. We report on new searches on light Higgs and light dark matter at BABAR using the 516 1/fb of data collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.
We search for a light Higgs boson, $A^0$, in the radiative decay $Υ(3S)\toγA^0$, $A^0\toτ^+τ^-$, $τ^+\to e^+ν_e \barν_τ$ or $τ^+\to μ^+ ν_μ \barν_τ$. The data sample contains 122 million $Υ(3S)$ events recorded with the \babar detector. We find no evidence for a narrow structure in the studied $τ^+τ^-$ invariant mass region of $4.03<m_{τ^+τ^-}<10.10$ \gevcc. We exclude at the 90% confidence level (C.L.) a low mass Higgs decaying to $τ^+τ^-$ with a product branching fraction ${\cal {B}}(Υ(3S)\toγA^0)\times {\cal {B}}(A^0\toτ^+τ^-)$ $>(1.5-16)\times 10^{-5}$ across the $m_{τ^+τ^-}$ range. We als…
Several types of new-physics models predict the existence of light dark matter candidates and low-mass Higgs states. Previous \babar searches for invisible light-Higgs decays have excluded large regions of model parameter space. We present searches for a dark-sector Higgs produced in association with a dark gauge boson and searches for a light Higgs in $Υ(nS)$ decays.
In this paper we present two searches for new physics in Upsilon(3S) decays collected by the BABAR detector. We search for charged lepton-flavour violating decays of the Upsilon(3S), which are unobservable in the Standard Model but are predicted to occur in several beyond-the-Standard Model scenarios. We also search for production of a light Higgs or Higgs-like state produced in radiative decays of the Upsilon(3S) and decaying to muon pairs.
We report searches for a new muonic dark force mediated by a gauge boson ($Z'$) coupling only to the second and third lepton families. The existence of the $Z'$ boson is probed in $e^+e^- \to μ^+μ^- Z'$, $Z' \to μ^+ μ^-$ events, with an analysis based on the full data sample collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II $e^+e^-$ collider. No significant signal is observed. Limits on dark-sector coupling constants are derived; these improve upon current bounds, and further constrain the allowed parameter space.
I present three recent results from searches for exotic physics at the BaBar/PEP-II B-factory. These results span many of the samples produced at the B-factory, including B mesons, tau leptons, and Upsilon(3S) mesons. We have searched for CPT-violation in B mixing and find no significant deviation from the no-violation hypothesis. We have also searched for lepton-flavor-violating decays of the tau using tau- -> omega l- and tau- -> l+ l- l+ and their charge conjugates. We find no evidence for these processes and set upper limits on their branching fractions. Finally, we have searched for a low…
Many models of physics beyond Standard Model predict the existence of light Higgs states, dark photons, and new gauge bosons mediating interactions between dark sectors and the Standard Model. Using a full data sample collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II $e^+e^-$ collider, we report searches for a light non-Standard Model Higgs boson, dark photon, and a new muonic dark force mediated by a gauge boson ($Z'$) coupling only to the second and third lepton families. Our results significantly improve upon the current bounds and further constrain the remaining region of the allowed paramet…
We present recent results concerning the searches for light Higgs-like particles in the decay $Υ(3S) \to γA^{0}, A^{0}\to μ^{+}μ^{-}$ as well as for the lepton flavour violation in the decays $Υ(3S) \to e^{\pm}τ^{\mp},μ^{\pm}τ^{\mp}$ and $τ\to 3l (l=e,μ)$ with the BaBar experiment.
Recent results on the search for new physics at BaBar and Belle B-factories are presented. The search for a light Higgs boson produced in the decay of different Y resonances is shown. In addition, recent measurements aimed to discover invisible final states produced by new physics mechanisms beyond the standard model are presented.
The ratio $R_{τμ}(Υ(1S)) = Γ_{Υ(1S)\toτ^+τ^-}/Γ_{Υ(1S)\toμ^+μ^-}$ is measured using a sample of $(121.8\pm1.2)\times10^6$ $Υ(3S)$ events recorded by the BABAR detector. This measurement is intended as a test of lepton universality and as a search for a possible light pseudoscalar Higgs boson. In the standard model (SM) this ratio is expected to be close to 1. Any significant deviations would violate lepton universality and could be introduced by the coupling to a light pseudoscalar Higgs boson. The analysis studies the decays $Υ(3S)\toΥ(1S)π^+π^-$, $Υ(1S)\to l^+l^-$, where $l=μ,τ$. The result,…
Using a sample of 122 million Upsilon(3S) decays collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, we measure the ratio R_taumu=BR(Upsilon(1S)->tau^+tau^-)/BR(Upsilon(1S)->mu^+mu^-); the measurement is intended as a test of lepton universality and as a possible search for a light pseudoscalar Higgs boson in Next to Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM) scenarios. Such a boson could appear in a deviation of the ratio R_taumu from the Standard Model expectation, that is 1, except for small lepton mass corrections. The …
Using a full BABAR data sample of 426 $fb^{-1}$, we present improved measurements of the ratio ${\cal{R}}(D^{(*)}) = {\cal{B}} (\bar{B} \to D^{(*)}τ^{-}\barν_τ)/$ ${\cal{B}} (\bar{B} \to D^{(*)}\ell_{\ell}^{-}\barν_{\ell})$, where $\ell$ is either electron or muon. We measure ${\cal{R}}(D) = 0.440 \pm 0.058 \pm 0.042$ and ${\cal{R}}(D^*) = 0.332 \pm 0.024 \pm 0.018$. These ratios exceed the Standard Model predictions by $2.0σ$ and $2.7σ$, respectively. The results disagree with the Standard Model predictions at the level of $3.4σ$. The ratios are sensitive to new physics contributions in the f…
Knowing the mass of the b-quark is essential to the study of the structure and decays of B mesons as well as to future tests of the Higgs mechanism of mass generation. We present recent preliminary measurements of the b-quark mass and related nonperturbative parameters from moments of kinematic distributions in charmed and charmless semileptonic and radiative penguin B decays. Their determination from charmless semileptonic B decays is the first measurement in this mode. The data were collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- -collider at the Stanford Linear Accelera…
We present some recent measurements performed using 514 fb-1 of $e^+e^-$ collisions collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric collider at SLAC. First we present a study of the decay tau -> K K_S nu, we measure the branching fraction B(tau -> K K_S nu), the mass spectrum of the K K_S system and obtain the spectral function. Our results are in agreement with and improve previous measurements. We then report a search for a dark boson A' produced in the reaction e+e- -> gamma A' in invisible final states A' -> chi anti-chi . We find no evidence for such processes and set 90% confi…
Many models of physics beyond the Standard Model predict the existence of new Abelian forces with new gauge bosons mediating interactions between "dark sectors" and the Standard Model. We report a search for a dark boson Z' coupling only to the second and third generations of leptons in the reaction e+e- -> mu+mu- Z', Z' -> mu+mu- using 514 fb-1 of data collected by the BABAR experiment. No significant signal is observed for Z' masses in the range 0.212 - 10 GeV. Limits on the coupling parameter g' as low as 7x10^-4 are derived, leading to improvements in the bounds compared to those previousl…
At the end of 2008, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will come into operation and the two experiments ATLAS and CMS will start taking data from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of \sqrt{s}=14 TeV. In preparation for the data taking period, the discovery potential for Higgs bosons beyond the Standard Model has been updated by both experiments and is reviewed here. In addition, the prospects for measuring the properties of a Higgs boson like its mass and width, its CP eigenvalues and its couplings to fermions and gauge bosons are discussed.
A search for the production of a single top quark in association with a Higgs boson is performed using the decay $\text{H} \to \text{b} \bar{\text{b}}$. The rate of this Higgs production mode is particularly sensitive to the relative sign of the Higgs boson couplings to fermions and bosons. The 2015 pp collisions data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV are analyzed. This poster focuses on the discrimination between signal and background events. Upper limits, determined in the two-dimensional plane spanned by the coupling modifiers of the Higgs boson to top quarks and to vector bosons, are pr…
Recent LEP searches for Higgs bosons in models other than the Minimal Standard Model and the Minimal Supersymetric Standard Model are reviewed. Limits are presented for Higgs bosons decaying into diphotons or invisible particles, and for charged Higgs bosons.
A Higgs particle produced in association with a Z boson and decaying into weak boson pairs is searched for in 336.4 1/pb of data collected by the L3 experiment at LEP at centre-of-mass energies from 200 to 209 GeV. Limits on the branching fraction of the Higgs boson decay into two weak bosons as a function of the Higgs mass are derived. These results are combined with the L3 search for a Higgs boson decaying to photon pairs. A Higgs produced with a Standard Model e+e- --> Zh cross section and decaying only into electroweak boson pairs is excluded at 95% CL for a mass below 107 GeV.
After briefly discussing the discovery of a Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider, an overview of recent results in Higgs boson physics obtained with the CMS experiment is presented. The focus is on measurements of the properties of the recently discovered Higgs boson with a mass of about 125 GeV. A brief selection of results in searches for Higgs bosons beyond the standard model is given, and prospects of future Higgs boson measurements and searches are discussed.
Searches for this Higgs boson are reaching an exciting time. This proceeding reports the progress on Standard Model Higgs boson searches at the Tevatron and the prospects for Higgs boson searches at the Large Hadron Collider. Also reported are the results of non Standard Model searches and prospects at the Tevatron, Large Hadron Collide and B factories. Included in this result are the first limits on the mass of the Standard Model Higgs boson at high masses beyond the kinematic reach of the Large Electron Positron collider.
Searches for exotic decays of the 125 GeV Higgs boson performed with data collected by the CMS experiment are presented. Three classes of searches are detailed: searches for invisible decays of the Higgs boson, searches for lepton flavor violating Higgs decays, and searches for decays to the Higgs boson to light pseudoscalars decaying to SM particle pairs. These analyses are based on data collected at center-of-mass energies of 8 and 13 TeV.
A search for the standard model Higgs boson produced in association with a W or a Z boson and decaying a pair of $τ$ leptons is performed. A data sample of proton-proton collisions collected at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC is used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$. The signal strength is measured relative to the expectation for the standard model Higgs boson, yielding $μ=$ 2.5 $^{+1.4} _{-1.3}$. These results are combined with earlier CMS measurements targeting Higgs boson decays to a pair of $τ$ leptons, performed with the same data set …
A summary of the Higgs boson searches by the ATLAS and CMS collabrations using 1 f b-1 of LHC data is presented, concentrating on the Standard Model Higgs boson. Both experiments have the sensitivity to exclude at 95% CL a Standard Model Higgs boson in most of the Higgs boson mass region between about 130 GeV and 400 GeV. The observed data allow the exclusion of a Higgs Boson of mass 155 GeV to 190 GeV and 295 GeV to 450 GeV (ATLAS) and 149 GeV to 206 GeV and 300 GeV to 440 GeV (CMS). The lower limits are not as constraining as might be expected due to an excess in both experiments of order 2-…
The data collected at the TeVatron RunIIa have been used to look for supersymmetric charged Higgs boson and Left-Right suspersymmetric doubly charged Higgs boson. No signal of such bosons has been found and this note reports on the current analyses and their observed excluded domains in models parameter space.
We present the results of a search for Higgs bosons predicted in two-Higgs-doublet models, in the case where the Higgs bosons decay to tau lepton pairs, using 1.8 inverse fb of integrated luminosity of proton-antiproton collisions recorded by the CDF II experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. Studying the observed mass distribution in events where one or both tau leptons decay leptonically, no evidence for a Higgs boson signal is observed. The result is used to infer exclusion limits in the two-dimensional parameter space of tan beta versus m(A).
We summarize the status of Higgs boson searches at the upgraded Fermilab Tevatron performed by the DO and CDF collaborations. We report on three categories of searches, namely 1) the search for the Standard Model Higgs boson (p\bar{p} --> H, WH or ZH, with H --> WW* and/or H --> b\bar{b}), 2) the search for the minimal supersymmetric Higgs boson using p\bar{p} --> hb\bar{b} --> b\bar{b}b\bar{b} and p\bar{p} --> hX --> tau tau X, 3) the search for doubly charged Higgs boson.
We search for a new light non-Standard Model CP-odd Higgs boson, $A^0$, decaying to $τ^+τ^-$, $μ^+μ^-$, and invisible in radiative decays of the $Υ(2S)$ and $Υ(3S)$. We search for the light scalar particle produced in single-photon decays of the $Υ(3S)$ resonance through the process $Υ(3S) \to γA^0, A^0 \to$ invisible. We also search for evidence of an undetectable $Υ(1S)$ decay recoiling against the dipion system. The data samples contain $99 \times 10^6 Υ(2S)$ and $122 \times 10^6 Υ(3S)$ decays collected by the \babar\ detector at the SLAC PEP-II $B$ factory.
The CDF and D0 experiments at the Tevatron $p\bar{p}$ Collider collected data between 2002 and 2011, accumulating up to 10 $\rm{fb^{-1}}$ of data. During that time, an extensive search for the standard model Higgs boson was performed. Combined results from the searches for the standard model Higgs boson with the final dataset are presented together with results on the Higgs boson couplings and spin and parity.
The status of the ATLAS Higgs boson search using about 5 fb^-1 of data recorded in 2011 is summarized. Proceedings from Physics at the LHC 2012 (Vancouver).
A flavour independent search for the CP-even and CP-odd neutral Higgs bosons h and A is performed in 624/pb of data collected with the L3 detector at LEP at centre-of-mass energies between 189 and 209GeV. Higgs boson production through the e^+e^- -> Z h and the e^+e^- ->h A processes is considered and decays of the Higgs bosons into hadrons are studied. No significant signal is observed and 95% confidence level limits on the hZZ and hAZ couplings are derived as a function of the Higgs boson masses. Assuming the Standard Model cross section for the Higgs-strahlung process and a 100% branching f…
A search has been performed for the Standard Model Higgs boson in the data collected with the ALEPH detector in 2000. An excess of 3 sigma above the background expectation is found. The observed excess is consistent with the production of the Higgs boson with a mass close to 114 GeV/c2.
We report on a search for the production of the Higgs boson decaying to two bottom quarks accompanied by two additional quarks. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of approximately 4\,\invfb\, of \ppbar\, collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$\,TeV recorded by the CDF II experiment. This search includes twice the integrated luminosity of the previous published result, uses analysis techniques to distinguish jets originating from light flavor quarks and those from gluon radiation, and adds sensitivity to a Higgs boson produced by vector boson fusion. We find no evidence of the H…
The most recent results of the searches for Higgs bosons in the data taken at LEP in 1999 and their interpretation in a variety of theoretical framework are reviewed.
We present a search for a standard model Higgs boson produced in association with a W boson using 2.7 1/fb of integrated luminosity of pbar-p collision data taken at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV. Limits on the Higgs boson production rate are obtained for masses between 100 GeV and 150 GeV. Through the use of multivariate techniques, the analysis achieves an observed (expected) 95% confidence level upper limit of 5.6 (4.8) times the theoretically expected production cross section for a standard model Higgs boson with a mass of 115 GeV.
Searches for the neutral Higgs bosons h0 and A0, are used to obtain limits on the Type II Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM(II)) with no CP-violation in the Higgs sector and no additional particles besides the five Higgs bosons. The analysis combines approximately 170 pb-1 of data collected with the OPAL detector at sqrt{s} ~ 189 GeV with previous runs at sqrt{s} ~ mZ and sqrt{s} ~ 183 GeV. The searches are sensitive to the h0, A0 -> qq, gg, tau+tau- and h0 -> A0A0 decay modes of the Higgs bosons. For the first time, the 2HDM(II) parameter space is explored in a detailed scan, and new flavour inde…
A search is performed for a pseudoscalar Higgs boson, A, decaying into a 125 GeV Higgs boson h and a Z boson. The h boson is specifically targeted in its decay into a pair of tau leptons, while the Z boson decays into a pair of electrons or muons. A data sample of proton-proton collisions collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV is used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$. No excess above the standard model background expectations is observed in data. A model-independent upper limit is set on the product of the gluon fusion production cross sec…
Measurements of the Higgs boson production and decay performed at the Large Hadron Collider by the ATLAS and CMS experiments are reviewed. These measurements are based on proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt{s}$=~13~TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities ranging from 35 to 80~fb$^{-1}$. With these datasets, the associated production of the Higgs boson with a $t\bar{t}$ pair is observed and the decay of the Higgs boson to $b\bar{b}$ pairs is established. Measurements involving leptonic and bosonic final states are described. The combined constraints on the Higgs boson coupling properti…
Lepton flavor universality can be tested through the ratio of semileptonic $B$ meson decays and leptonic $Υ$ meson decays, with $Υ\equiv Υ(nS)$ ($n=1,2,3$). For the charged-current transitions $b \to cτ\barν_τ$, discrepancies between the experiment and the Standard Model (SM) have been observed in recent years by different flavor facilities such as BABAR, Belle, and LHCb. While for the neutral-current transitions $b \bar{b} \to τ\barτ$, the BABAR experiment reported recently a new measurement of leptonic decay ratio $R_{Υ(3S)} = {\rm BR}(Υ(3S) \to τ^+τ^-)/{\rm BR}(Υ(3S) \to μ^+μ^-)$, showing a…
Recent astrophysical and terrestrial experiments have motivated the proposal of a dark sector with GeV-scale gauge boson force carriers and new Higgs bosons. We present a search for a dark Higgs boson using 516 fb-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector. We do not observe a significant signal and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product of the Standard Model-dark sector mixing angle and the dark sector coupling constant.
In this talk I consider the current status of $B \rightarrow D^{(*)} τν$ decays in the context of two-Higgs-doublet models. The BaBar collaboration has reported an excess in semileptonic $b \rightarrow c τν$ transitions that has gathered recent interest as a possible signature of new physics. The sensitivity of these decays to tree-level charged Higgs boson contributions is discussed, taking into account the constraints from other semileptonic and leptonic meson decays in which the charged Higgs would enter at the same level.
Recent BaBar limits on $\br(Υ(3S)\to \gam a\to \gam τ^+τ^-)$ and $\br(Υ(3S)\to \gam a\to \gam μ^+μ^-)$ provide increased constraints on the $a b\anti b$ coupling of a CP-odd Higgs boson, $a$, with $m_a<M_{Υ(3S)}$. We extract these limits from the BaBar data and compare to the limits previously obtained using other data sets, especially the CLEO-III $\br(Υ(1S)\to \gam\toτ^+τ^-)$ limits. Comparisons are made to predictions in the context of "ideal"-Higgs NMSSM scenarios, in which the lightest CP-even Higgs boson, $h_1$, can have mass below $105\gev$ (as preferred by precision electroweak data) a…
The presence of charged Higgs bosons is a generic prediction of multiplet extensions of the Standard Model (SM) Higgs sector. Focusing on the Two-Higgs-Doublet-Model (2HDM), we discuss the charged Higgs boson collider phenomenology in the theoretically and experimentally viable parameter space. While almost all existing experimental searches at the LHC target the fermionic decays of charged Higgs bosons, we point out that the bosonic decay channels -- especially the decay into a non-SM-like Higgs boson and a $W$ boson -- often dominate over the fermionic channels. Moreover, we revisit two genu…
Production in association with an electroweak vector boson V is a distinctive mode of production for a Higgs boson H without tree-level couplings to fermions, known as a fermiophobic Higgs boson. We focus on HV associated production with H decay into a pair of photons, and V into a pair of jets, with the goal of distinguishing a fermiophobic Higgs boson from the standard model Higgs boson. Performing a simulation of the signal and pertinent QCD backgrounds, and using the same event selection cuts employed by the LHC ATLAS Collaboration, we argue that existing LHC data at 7 TeV with 4.9 fb^{-1}…
The search for evidence of beyond Standard Model Higgs bosons is an integral part of the Higgs boson studies at the LHC. This article reviews recent beyond Standard Model Higgs boson searches using Run I LHC proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector. In particular, searches for Higgs boson cascades, double Higgs boson production, scalar particles decaying to $γγ$ pairs, flavor changing neutral currents involving Higgs bosons, and Higgs bosons decaying to invisible particles are discussed. No significant deviations from the background expectations are found and corresponding c…
More than one Higgs boson may be present near the currently discovered Higgs mass, which can not be properly resolved due to the limitations in the intrinsic energy resolution at the Large Hadron Collider. We investigated the scenarios where two $CP$-even Higgs bosons are degenerate in mass. To correctly predict the Higgs signatures, quantum interference effects between the two Higgs bosons must be taken into account, which, however, has been often neglected in the literature. We carried out a global analysis including the interference effects for a variety of Higgs searching channels at the L…
The Monte Carlo integrator HAWK provides precision predictions for Higgs production at hadron colliders in vector-boson fusion and Higgs strahlung, i.e. in production processes where the Higgs boson is Attached to WeaK bosons. The fully differential predictions include the full QCD and electroweak next-to-leading-order corrections. Results are computed as integrated cross sections and as binned distributions for important hadron-collider observables.
The Higgs boson physics reach of the CMS detector with 300(0) fb-1 of proton-proton collisions at sqrt{s} = 14 TeV is presented. Precision measurements of the Higgs boson properties, Higgs boson pair production and self-coupling, rare Higgs boson decays, and the potential for additional Higgs bosons are discussed.
We review possible properties of Higgs bosons in the NMSSM, which allow to discriminate this model from the MSSM: masses of mostly Standard-Model-like Higgs bosons at or above 140 GeV, or enhanced branching fractions into two photons, or Higgs-to-Higgs decays. In the case of a Standard-Model-like Higgs boson above 140 GeV, it is necessarily accompagnied by a lighter state with a large gauge singlet component. Examples for such scenarios are presented. Available studies on Higgs-to-Higgs decays are discussed according to the various Higgs production modes, light Higgs masses and decay channels.
Higgs Bosons produced via gluon-gluon fusion (ggF) with large transverse momentum ($p_T$) are sensitive probes of physics beyond the Standard Model. However, high $p_T$ Higgs Boson production is contaminated by a diversity of production modes other than ggF: vector boson fusion, production of a Higgs boson in association with a vector boson, and production of a Higgs boson with a top-quark pair. Combining jet substructure and event information with modern machine learning, we demonstrate the ability to focus on particular production modes. These tools hold great discovery potential for boosted…
In models with extended Higgs sector and additional matter fields, the decay modes of heavy Higgs bosons can be dominated by cascade decays through the new fermions rendering present search strategies ineffective. We investigate new decay topologies of heavy neutral Higgses in two Higgs doublet model with vectorlike leptons. We also discuss constraints from existing searches and discovery prospects. Among the most interesting signatures are monojet, mono Z, mono Higgs, and Z and Higgs bosons produced with a pair of charged leptons.
We interpret the potential observation of the 750 GeV di-photon resonance at the LHC in models, in which an $SU(2)$ isospin-singlet scalar boson mixes with the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson through an angle $α$. Allowing the singlet scalar boson to have renormalizable couplings to vector-like leptons and quarks and introducing sizable decay width of the 750 GeV di-photon resonance into non-SM particles such as dark matters, we can explain the large production cross section $σ(H_2) \times B(H_2 \to γγ)$ as well as the apparent large total width of the boson without conflicts from the results …
Since the discovery of the Higgs boson in the year 2012, the CMS experiment continuously makes use of a variety of final states to measure the properties of the Higgs boson, as well as to search for it in final states where the discovery could not yet be established. This article concentrates on Higgs searches in fermionic final states including a search for the Standard Model Higgs boson in the $H \rightarrow b\overline{b}$ channel. Furthermore, three different searches for Higgs bosons beyond the Standard Model are presented. These comprise two searches for heavy neutral Higgs bosons and one…
We report results from searches for neutral Higgs bosons produced in p-pbar collisions recorded by the Dzero experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We study the production of inclusive neutral Higgs boson in the tautau final state and in association with a b quark in the btautau and bbb final states. These results are combined to improve the sensitivity to the production of neutral Higgs bosons in the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). The data are found to be consistent with expectation from background processes. Upper limits on MSSM Higgs boson production are…
The ATLAS and CMS experiments have recently discovered a new 125 GeV scalar boson. We show that the properties of this scalar, including the enhancement of its diphoton decay rate, can be explained in a model with an isospin symmetric Higgs boson. The predictions of the model relevant for future experiments are also discussed.
In supersymmetric theories of nature the Higgsino fermionic superpartner of the Higgs boson can arise as the lightest standard model superpartner depending on the couplings between the Higgs and supersymmetry breaking sectors. In this letter the production and decay of Higgsino pairs to the Goldstone fermion of supersymmetry breaking and the Higgs boson, h, or gauge bosons, Z or $γ$ are considered. Relatively clean di-boson final states, hh, $h γ$, hZ, $Z γ$, or ZZ, with a large amount of missing energy result. The latter channels provide novel discovery modes for supersymmetry at high energy …
