We review results which explicitly depend on the entanglement of neutral meson pairs produced at the psi(3770) and Upsilon(4S). Time-dependent CP-violation analyses at the B-factories use the flavour-singlet final state at the Upsilon(4S), but by assuming its quantum-mechanical evolution; Belle on the other hand has tested the time-dependent flavour correlation of the B-mesons, comparing predictions of quantum mechanics, spontaneous disentanglement, and Pompili-Selleri models. At the psi(3770), decay rates are modulated by various combinations of the charm mixing parameters: this has been exploited by CLEO-c to provide the first effective constraint on the strong-phase difference delta. Finally, the goal of a "model-independent" phi_3/Dalitz analysis is now within reach, using D-mesons from the psi(3770) to constrain the D0 -> K_S pi+ pi- decay amplitude. Manifestly entangled events psi(3770) -> (K_S pi+pi-)_D (K_S pi+ pi-)_D, rather than just "CP-tagged" decays, turn out to be crucial.
CDF has obtained new results on quarkonium production in p\bar{p} collisions at \sqrt{s} = 1.8 TeV. We report on measurements of Upsilon meson production, Upsilon(1S) production from Chi_b feeddown, and the production polarization of Upsilon(1S), J/Psi and Psi(2S) mesons.
We report a measurement of the production ratio of charged and neutral B mesons from Upsilon(4S) decays based on the ratio of efficiency-corrected yields for the charmonium modes J/psi K^+ and J/psi K^{0}_{S} with 81.9 fb^-1 of data collected with the BABAR detector on the Upsilon(4S) resonance at 10.580 GeV. We find a value of 1.006 +/- 0.036 (stat) +/- 0.031 (sys) for the ratio R^{+/0}=Gamma(Upsilon(4S) -> B^+ B^-)/Gamma(Upsilon(4S)->B^0 B^0bar).
To clarify the conflict between the theoretical predictions and experimental measurements of the inclusive J/psi production in Upsilon decay, We consider the alpha_s^6 order color-singlet contributions of processes Upsilon --> J/psi+gg and Upsilon --> J/psi+gggg. Both the branching ratio and J/psi momentum spectrum are calculated, and the branching ratio 4.7 x 10^{-4} is larger than the leading-order contribution (alpha_s^5, Upsilon --> J/psi+c\bar{c}g). Together with the QCD and QED leading-order contributions considered in our previous work, the color-singlet prediction of the branching rati…
We give an overview of the present status of knowledge of the production of J/psi, psi' and Upsilon in high-energy hadron collisions. We first present two early models, namely the Colour-Singlet Model (CSM) and the Colour-Evaporation Model (CEM). The first is the natural application of pQCD to quarkonium production and has been shown to fail dramatically to describe data, the second is its phenomenological counterpart and was introduced in the spirit of the quark-hadron duality in the late seventies. Then, we expose the most recent experimental measurements of J/psi, psi' and Upsilon prompt an…
Using substantially larger data samples collected by the CLEO III detector, we report on new measurements of the decays of Upsilon(1S) to charmonium final states, including J/Psi, psi(2S), and chi_cJ. The latter two are first observations of these decays. We measure the branching fractions as follows: B(Y(1S)--> J/Psi+X)=(6.4+-0.4+-0.6)x10^-4, B(Y(1S)--> psi(2S)+X)/B(Y(1S)--> J/Psi+X)=0.41+-0.11+-0.08, B(Y(1S)--> chi_c1+X)/B(Y(1S)--> J/Psi+X)=0.35+-0.08+-0.06, B(Y(1S)--> chi_c2+X)/B(Y(1S)--> J/Psi+X)=0.52+-0.12+-0.09, and B(Y(1S)--> chi_c0+X)/B(Y(1S)--> J/Psi+X)<7.4% at 90% confidence level. W…
Cross sections for elastic photoproduction of J/Psi and Upsilon mesons are presented. For J/Psi mesons the dependence on the photon-proton centre-of-mass energy W_gammap is analysed in an extended range with respect to previous measurements of 26<=W_gammap<= 285 GeV. The measured energy dependence is parameterized as sigma_gammap proportional W_gammap^delta with delta=0.83+-0.07. The differential cross section dsigma/dt for J/Psi mesons is derived, its dependence on W_gammap and on t is analysed and the effective trajectory (in terms of Regge theory) is determined to be alpha(t)=(1.27+-0.05)+(…
The relativistic corrections to the productions of double J/psi, double Upsilon, and J/psi+Upsilon at the Tevatron and the LHC were investigated within the frame of nonrelativistic QCD. The ratios of short distance coefficients between relativistic correction and leading order result for color singlet and color octet states in large p_T limit are approximately -1,-11/3, respectively, for pair production. And for J/psi+Upsilon process the ratio is -11/6 for the CO channel. The K factors of relativistic corrections for color singlet and color octet double J/psi production are -0.23 and -0.84 wit…
Taking into account the new data on the full width of D^{\ast\pm}(2010) and the mass difference of the charged and neutral beauty mesons B^\pm, B^0,\bar B^0, the branching ratios of the decays psi(3770), Upsilon(10580) to pi^+pi^-, K bar K, rho(omega)pi, rho(omega)eta, rho(omega)eta^prime, K^ast bar K+ c.c, rho^+ rho^-, and K^ast bar K^ast are re-evaluated in the model in which the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka rule is violated due to the real intermediate state D\bar D in case of psi(3770) and B\bar B in case of Upsilon(10580). The inclusive annihilation of psi(3770) and Upsilon(10580) into light hadron…
We propose to search for CP-violating effects in the decay psi(2S)->J/psi+pi+pi. The scheme has the advantage that one does not need to track two or more CP-conjugate processes. Model independent amplitudes are derived for this purpose. The fact that leading CP violating terms are O(k) under low energy expansion and the processes are flavor disconnected make the measurement of these CP breaking parameters practical. Our results can be extended to the case of Upsilon(2S)->Upsilon(1S)+pi+pi and Upsilon(3S)->Upsilon(2S)+pi+pi straightforwardly.
Cross sections for the concurrent production of pairs of quarkonia (J/psi, Upsilon) and/or gauge bosons (W, Z) from double-parton scatterings (DPS) in high-energy proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at the LHC are calculated. The estimates are based on next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD predictions, including nuclear modifications of the parton densities, for the corresponding single-scattering cross sections. Expected event rates for J/psi+J/psi, J/psi+Upsilon, J/psi+W, J/psi+Z, Upsilon+Upsilon, Upsilon+W, Upsilon+Z, and same-sign W+W production in their (di)leptonic decay modes…
Both charm and bottom quarks form nonrelativistic bound states analogous to positronium. The J/psi and psi(2S) charmonium states and the first three Upsilon(nS) bottomonium states, all spin-triplet S-wave quarkonium states below open-heavy-flavor thresholds, have relatively large branching ratios to e- e+ or mu- mu+ pairs. In hadron collisions, experiments measuring lepton pairs can determine polarization by using angular correlation techniques. The polarization, in turn, can be related theoretically to the production mechanism for the bound state. This review summarizes experimental studies w…
We update the study of the production of direct J/Psi in association with a Z boson at the Next-to-Leading Order (NLO) in alpha_s by evaluating both the yield differential in P_T and the J/Psi polarisation in the QCD-based Colour-Singlet Model (CSM). Contrary to an earlier claim, QCD corrections at small and mid P_T are small if one assumes that the factorisation and the renormalisation scales are commensurate with the Z boson mass. As it can be anticipated, the t-channel gluon-exchange (t-CGE) topologies start to be dominant only for P_T > mZ/2. The polarisation pattern is not altered by the …
psi and Upsilon decays may be used to search for light neutral spin-1 or spin-0 bosons associated with a broken extra-U(1) symmetry, local or global, acting axially on quarks and leptons, as may be present in supersymmetric theories with a lambda H_1 H_2 S superpotential term. Recent data on Upsilon --> gamma + invisible neutral constrain an axial, pseudoscalar or scalar coupling to b to f_bA < 4 10^-7 m_U(MeV)/ sqrt B_inv, f_bP < 4 10^-3/ sqrt B_inv or f_bS < 6 10^-3/ sqrt B_inv, respectively. This also constrains, from universality properties, couplings to electrons to f_eA < 4 10^-7 m_U(MeV…
We investigate the theoretical uncertainty on the predictions for the photoproduction of J/psi and Upsilon states in the proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at the LHC within the color dipole formalism. Predictions for the rapidity distributions are presented and the dependence on the meson wavefunction, heavy quark mass as well as the models for the dipole cross section are analyzed. We compare directly the theoretical results to the recent data from ALICE collaboration on J/psi production in pPb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of 5.02 TeV and in PbPb collisio…
We review selected recent Belle results in quarkonium physics, that include precision measurement of the eta_b(1S) parameters, evidence for the eta_b(2S); evidence for the psi_2(1D); observation of the psi(4040) and psi(4160) transitions to J/psi eta with anomalously high rates; observation of the Upsilon(5S) transitions to Upsilon(1D)pi+pi- and Upsilon(1S,2S)eta. The low excitations of charmonium and bottomonium are in agreement with the Lattice QCD and effective theories calculations, while high excitations show unexpected properties.
We report the latest results of J/psi, psi(2S) and Upsilon production in the dielectron decay channel at mid-rapidity, from the STAR experiment. We present J/psi cross section measurements in p+p collisions at 200 and 500 GeV, as well as the first measurement of the psi(2S) to J/psi ratio at 500 GeV. We also show J/psi and Upsilon production in heavy ion collisions: J/psi nuclear modification factors (R_{AA}) in Au+Au collisions at 200, 62.4 and 39 GeV and in U+U collisions at 193 GeV, Upsilon R_{AA} in d+Au, Au+Au and U+U collisions at 200, 200 and 193 GeV, respectively. The results are compa…
We revisit inclusive J/psi and Upsilon photoproduction at lepton-hadron colliders, namely in the limit when the exchanged photon is quasi real. Our computation includes the next-to-leading-order (NLO) alpha_s corrections to the leading-order contributions in v. Similarly to the case of NLO charmonium-hadroproduction processes, the resulting cross sections obtained in the MS-bar factorisation scheme are sometimes found to be negative. We show that the scale-fixing criteria which we derived in a previous study of eta(c) production successfully solves this problem from the EicC all the way up to …
We update the study of the QCD corrections to direct J/psi and Upsilon hadroproduction in association with a photon in the QCD-based approach of the Colour-Singlet (CS) Model. After comparison with the recent full next-to-leading-order (NLO) computation for this process, we provide an independent confirmation to the inclusive case that NLO QCD corrections to quarkonium-production processes whose LO exhibits a non-leading P_T behaviour can be reliably computed at mid and large P_T by considering only the real emission contributions accompanied with a kinematical cut. In turn, we evaluate the le…
We evaluate the production cross section for direct J/Psi and Upsilon integrated in P_T for various collision energies in the QCD-based Colour-Singlet Model (CSM). We consider the LO contribution from gluon fusion whose P_T-integrated cross section shows a very good agreement with the Tevatron and LHC data, both for J/Psi and Upsilon. The rapidity distribution of this yield is evaluated in the central region relevant for the ATLAS and CMS detectors, as well as in the more forward region relevant for the ALICE and LHCb detectors. The results obtained here are compatible with those of other appr…
We present recent results on heavy flavour production at Tevatron Run II for typically ~1/fb of analysed proton-antiproton data at a c.m. energy of 1.96 TeV. This includes results on single and correlated open charm and bottom cross sections, charm pair production kinematics, J/psi, psi(2S) and chi cross sections and polarisation measurements in J/psi, psi(2S), Upsilon(1S), and Upsilon(2S).
The neutral B-meson pair produced at the Upsilon(4S) should exhibit a non-local correlation of the type discussed by Einstein, Podolski, and Rosen (EPR). We measure this correlation using the time-dependent flavour asymmetry of semileptonic B0 decays, which we compare with predictions from quantum mechanics and two local realistic models. The data are consistent with quantum mechanics, and inconsistent with the other models. Assuming that some B pairs disentangle to produce B0 and B0bar with definite flavour, we find a decoherent fraction of 0.029+-057, consistent with no decoherence.
Based on the nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization formalism, we investigate inclusive productions of two spin-triplet S-wave quarkonia pp->2J/psi+X, 2Upsilon+X, and J/psi+Upsilon+X at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The total production rates integrated over the rapidity (y) and transverse-momentum (p_T) ranges |y|<2.4 and p_T<50 GGeV are predicted to be sigma[pp->2J/psi+X] = 22 (35) nb, sigma[pp->2Upsilon+X] = 24 (49) pb, and sigma[pp->J/psi+Upsilon+X] = 7 (13) pb at the center-of-momentum energy sqrt{s} = 7 (14) TeV. In order to provide predictions that can be useful in both small- and …
Invisible psi and Upsilon decays into light neutralinos, within the MSSM or N(n)MSSM, are smaller than for nu nubar production, even if light spin-0 particles are coupled to quarks and neutralinos. In a more general way, light dark matter particles are normally forbidden, unless they can annihilate sufficiently through a new interaction stronger than weak interactions (at lower energies), as induced by a light spin-1 U boson, or heavy-fermion exchanges in the case of scalar dark matter. We discuss the possible contributions of U-boson, heavy-fermion, or spin-0 exchanges to invisible psi and Up…
I present highlights of recent CLEO studies on the Upsilon(1S), Upsilon(2S), and Upsilon(3S). The preliminary results presented here include the first observation of a hadronic cascade in the Upsilon system not involving pions, Upsilon(3S) to gamma chi(b1,2)(2P) followed by chi(b1,2)(2P) to omega Upsilon(1S). I also present preliminary results on a search for inclusive psi production in Upsilon(1S) decays. I end with a search for nine different two body hadronic decays of the Upsilon(nS), n=1,2,3, resulting in the discovery of two such decays, and vastly improved upper limits on the branching …
Using data taken with the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have investigated the direct photon momentum spectrum in the decay J/psi->gamma+gluon+gluon, via the 'tagged' process: e+e- -> psi(2S); psi(2S)->J/psi pi+pi-; J/psi->photon + X. Including contributions from two-body radiative decay processes, we find the ratio of the inclusive direct photon branching fraction to that of the dominant three-gluon branching fraction to be R=0.137+/-0.001+/-0.016+/-0.004, where the errors shown are statistical, systematic, and the model-dependent uncertainty related to the extrapola…
We report the results of searches for B+ -> J/psi eta' K+ and B0 -> J/psi eta' Ks0 decays, using a sample of 388 x 10^6 BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector at the Upsilon(4S) resonance. No statistically significant signal is found for either of the two decay modes and upper limits for the branching fractions are determined to be B(B+ -> J/psi eta' K+) < 8.8 x 10^-5 and B(B0 -> J/psi eta' Ks0) < 2.5 x 10^-5 at 90% confidence level.
We report the observation of a near-threshold enhancement in the omega-J/psi invariant mass distribution for exclusive B-->K omega J/psi decays. The results are obtained from a 253 fb-1 data sample that contains 275 million BB-bar meson pairs that were collected near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e+e- collider. The statistical significance of the omega-J/psi mass enhancement is estimated to be greater than 8 sigma.
The process e+e- to K+K-J/psi is observed for the first time via initial state radiation. The cross section of e+e- to K+K-J/psi for center-of-mass energies between threshold and 6.0 GeV is measured using 673 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector on and off the Upsilon(4S) resonance. We also find evidence for e+e- to K_S K_S J/psi in the same energy region.
We measure the branching fractions of the psi(2S) meson to the leptonic final states e+e- and mu+mu- relative to that for psi(2S)-->J/psi pi+pi-. The method uses psi(2S) mesons produced in the decay of B mesons at the Upsilon(4S) resonance in a data sample collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Using previous measurements for the psi(2S)-->J/psi pi+pi- branching fraction, we determine the e+e- and mu+mu- branching fractions to be 0.0078+/-0.0009+/-0.0008 and 0.0067+/-0.0008+/-0.0007 respectively.
The b-barb and Upsilon production cross section has been measured in collisions of 920 GeV protons on different nuclear targets using the HERA-B detector. On the invariant mass spectra of e+e- or mu+mu- events originating from common vertex, the Upsilon search was performed. The identification of b-barb events was done using the same sample via inclusive bottom quark decays into J/psi by exploiting the longitudinal separation of the J/psi -> l+l- decay vertices from the primary proton nucleus interaction. For both hidden and open beauty decays, the mu+mu- and the e+e- decay channels have been …
We present predictions for double-quarkonium production in the kinematical region relevant for the proposed fixed-target experiment using the LHC beams (dubbed as AFTER@LHC). These include all spin-triplet S -wave charmonium and bottomonium pairs, i.e. Psi(n_1S) + Psi(n_2S), Psi(n_1S) + Upsilon(m_1S) and Upsilon(m_1S) + Upsilon(m_2S ) with n_1,n_2 = 1,2 and m_1,m_2 = 1,2,3. We calculate the contributions from double-parton scatterings and single-parton scatterings. With an integrated luminosity of 20 fb-1 to be collected at AFTER@LHC, we find that the yields for double-charmonium production ar…
We have measured the branching fractions of the colour suppressed decays B^{+} --> ψ(2S) K^{*+}(892) and B^{0} --> psi(2S)K^{*0}(892) using a data sample of 84 million B\bar{B} events recorded by the Belle detector on the Upsilon(4S) resonance. The branching fractions for the charged and neutral mode decays are (8.13 \pm 0.77 \pm 0.89) x 10^{-4}$ and $(7.20 \pm 0.43 \pm 0.65) x 10^{-4}$, respectively.
Using the combined CLEO II and CLEO II.V data sets of 9.1 fb^{-1} at the Upsilon(4S), we measure properties of Psi mesons produced directly from decays of the B meson, where ``B'' denotes an admixture of B+, B-, B0, and B0bar, and ``Psi'' denotes either J/Psi or Psi(2S). We report first measurements of Psi polarization in B -> Psi(direct) X: alpha(J/Psi) = -0.30 {+0.07 -0.06 stat} {+-0.04 syst} and alpha(Psi(2S)) = -0.45 {+0.22 -0.19 stat} {+-0.04 syst}. We also report improved measurements of the momentum distributions of Psi produced directly from B decays, correcting for measurement smearin…
We present the first study of the time-dependent CP-violating asymmetry in B0 -> J/psi pi0 decays using e+e- annihilation data collected with the BaBar detector at the Upsilon(4S) resonance during the years 1999-2002 at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. Using approximately 88 million BBbar pairs, our results for the coefficients of the cosine and sine terms of the CP asymmetry are C_(J/psi pi0) = 0.38 +/- 0.41 (stat) +/- 0.09 (syst) and S_(J/psi pi0) = 0.05 +/- 0.49 (stat) +/- 0.16 (syst).
We report a measurement of the branching fractions in the B0->J/Psi pi+pi- decay based on a 140/fb data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) energy with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. Charged pion pairs are found to arise mainly from rho0 and f2 mesons; an upper limit for the non-resonant contribution is also set. The following branching fractions are obtained: Br(B0->J/Psi rho0)=(2.8+-0.3+-0.3)*10^{-5}, Br(B0->J/Psi f2)<1.5*10^{-5}(at 90% C.L.) and Br(B0->J/Psi (pi+pi-)non-res.)<1.5*10^{-5}(at 90% C.L.).
We report the first observation of a narrow charmmonium state produced in the exclusive decay process B+->K+ pi+pi- J/psi. This state, which decays into pi+pi-J/psi, has a mass of 3871.8+-0.7(stat)+-0.4(syst) MeV, which is very near the M_D + M_D* mass threshold. The results are based on an analysis of 152M BBbar events collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance in the Belle detector at the KEKB collider.
We recall how a new light gauge boson emerged in Supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model with an extra singlet superfield, and how it could behave very much as a light pseudoscalar, with the corresponding symmetry broken at a scale higher than electroweak. Such a new gauge boson U, light and very weakly coupled, allows for Light Dark Matter particles, which could be at the origin of the 511 keV line from the galactic bulge. Could it be found directly in e+e- annihilations ? Not so easily, due to various constraints on its couplings, especially axial ones, leading to an axionlike behavi…
Recent data from Belle show unusually large partial widths Upsilon(5S) --> Upsilon(1S) pi^+pi^- and Υ(5S) --> Υ(2S) pi^+ pi^-. The Z(4430) narrow resonance also reported by Belle in psi' pi^+ spectrum has the properties expected of a (cbar c u dbar) charged isovector tetraquark T^{+-}_cc The analogous state T^{+-} in the bottom sector might mediate anomalously large cascade decays in the Upsilon system, Upsilon(mS) --> T^{+-}_bb pi^{-+} --> Upsilon(nS) pi^+ π^-, with a tetraquark-pion intermediate state. We suggest looking for the (bbar b u dbar) tetraquark in these decays as peaks in the inva…
Exclusive photoproduction of heavy quarkonia in high-energy ultraperipheral ion-ion interactions (gamma A --> V A, where V = J/Psi,Upsilon and the nucleus A remains intact) offers a useful means to constrain the small-x nuclear gluon density. We discuss preliminary results on J/Psi photoproduction in Au-Au collisions at RHIC energies, as well as full simulation-reconstruction studies of photo-produced Upsilon's in Pb-Pb interactions at the LHC.
We report a measurement of CP asymmetry parameters in the decay B0(B0bar) -> J/Psi pi0, which is governed by the b->c cbar d transition. The analysis is based on a 140/fb data sample accumulated at the Upsilon(4S) resonance by the belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We fully reconstruct one neutral B meson in the J/Psi pi0 final state. The accompanying B meson flavor is identified by its decay products. From the distribution of proper time intervals between the two B decays, we obtain the following CP-violating parameters: S_{J/Psi pi0}=-0.72+-0.42+-0.09 and A_{J/Psi pi…
We report evidence for the decay modes X(3872) --> gamma J/psi and X(3872)--> pi+pi-pi0 J/psip. In the latter, the pi+pi-pi0 invariant mass distribution has a strong peak between 750 MeV and the kinematic limit of 775 MeV, suggesting that the process is dominated by the sub-threshold decay X --> omega J/psi. These results establish the charge-conjugation parity of the X(3872) as C=+1. The results are based on a study of X(3872) mesons produced via exclusive B --> K X(3872) decays in a 256 fb-1 data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance in the Belle detector at the KEKB collider. The X(…
We present a preliminary measurement of time-dependent CP-violating asymmetries in B^0-->J/psi K_S and B^0-->psi(2S) K_S decays recorded by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B Factory at SLAC. The data sample consists of 9.0 fb-1 collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance and 0.8 fb-1 off-resonance. One of the neutral B mesons, produced in pairs at the Upsilon(4S), is fully reconstructed. The flavor of the other neutral B meson is tagged at the time of its decay, mainly with the charge of identified leptons and kaons. The time difference between the decays is determined by measuring the …
We report the observation of B- -> J/psi Lambda pbar and searches for B- -> J/psi Sigma0 pbar and B0 -> J/psi p pbar decays, using a sample of 275 million BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector at the Upsilon(4S) resonance. We observe a signal of 17.2 +/- 4.1 events with a significance of 11.1sigma and obtain a branching fraction of B(B- -> J/psi Lambda pbar) = [11.6 +/- 2.8 (stat.) +1.8 -2.3(sys.)] x 10^-6. No signal is found for either of the two decay modes, B- -> J/psi Sigma0 pbar and B0 -> J/psi p pbar, and upper limits for the branching fractions are determined to be B(B- -> J/psi…
We report the observation of a narrow charmonium-like state produced in the exclusive decay process B+ -> K+ pi+pi- J/psi. This state, which decays into pi+pi- J/psi, has a mass of 3872.0+-0.6(stat)+-0.5(syst) MeV, a value that is very near the M_D + M_D* mass threshold. The results are based on an analysis of 152M B-Bbar events collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance in the Belle detector at the KEKB collider. The statistical significance of the signal is in excess of 10 sigma.
In this proceedings, we report the latest results of J/psi and Upsilon production from the STAR experiment at RHIC, in different colliding systems and colliding energies. J/psi nuclear modification factors (R_{AA}) in Au+Au collisions at 200, 62.4 and 39 GeV and in U+U collisions at 193 GeV, Upsilon R_{AA} in d+Au and Au+Au collisions at 200 and in U+U collisions at 193 GeV are shown and compared to different theoretical models. We also present prospects of quarkonium measurements at STAR.
We report on a study of exclusive radiative decays of the Upsilon(1S) resonance into a final state consisting of a photon and two K0s candidates. We find evidence for a signal for Upsilon(1S)->gamma f_2'(1525); f_2'(1525)->K0sK0s, at a rate (4.0+/-1.3+/-0.6)x10^{-5}, consistent with previous observations of Upsilon(1S)->gamma f_2'(1525); f_2'(1525)->K+K-, and isospin. Combining this branching fraction with existing branching fraction measurements of Upsilon(1S)->gamma f_2'(1525) and J/psi->gamma f_2'(1525), we obtain the ratio of branching fractions: B(Upsilon(1S)->gamma f_2'(1525))/B(J/psi->g…
We present measurements of the branching fraction and time-dependent CP asymmetries in B0->J/Psi pi0 decays based on (231.8 +/- 2.6)*10^6 Upsilon(4S) -> BBbar decays collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC during the years 1999-2004. We obtain a branching fraction B(B0->J/Psi pi0) = (1.94 +/- 0.22 (stat) +/- 0.17 (syst))*10^-5. We also measure the CP asymmetry parameters C = -0.21 +/- 0.26 (stat) +/- 0.09 (syst) and S = -0.68 +/- 0.30 (stat) +/- 0.04 (syst). All results presented in this paper are preliminary.
We present a measurement of the decay amplitudes in B-->J/psi K^*(892) channels using 20.7 fb-1 of data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at PEP-II. We measure a P-wave fraction R_perp = (16.0+/-3.2+/-1.4)% and a longitudinal polarization fraction (59.7+/-2.8+/-2.4)%. The measurement of a relative phase that is neither 0 nor pi, phi_ll = 2.50+/-0.20+/-0.08 radians, favors a departure from the factorization hypothesis. Although the decay B-->J/psi Kpi proceeds mainly via K^*(892), there is also evidence for K^*_2(1430) and Kpi S-wave contributions.
A distinct peak is observed in the pi^+/- psi' invariant mass distribution near 4.43 GeV in B->K pi^+/- psi' decays. A fit using a Breit Wigner resonance shape yields a peak mass and width of 4433+-4(stat)+-2(syst) MeV and Gamma = 45^+18_-13(stat) ^+30_-13 MeV. The product branching fraction is determined to be Bf(B-->KZ(4430))xBf(Z(4430)-->pi^+psi') = (4.1+-1.0(stat)+-1.4(syst))x10^{-5), where Z(4430) is used to denote the observed structure. The statistical significance of the observed peak is 6.5sigma. These results are obtained from a 605 fb-1 data sample that contains 657 million BBbar pa…
We report the first observation of the decay B+ -> psi(3770) K+ where psi(3770) is reconstructed in the D0D0-bar and D+D- decay channels. The obtained branching fraction is Br(B+ -> psi(3770) K+)=(0.48+-0.11+-0.07)x10^{-3}. We have measured the branching fraction for the decay B+ -> D0D0-bar K+ to be (1.17+-0.21+-0.15)x10^{-3}. We have set a 90% confidence level upper limit of 0.90x10^{-3} for the decay B+ -> D+D-K+. We also present the results of a search for possible decays to DD-bar and D0D0-bar pi0 of the recently observed X(3872) particle. The analysis is based on 88 fb^{-1} of data colle…
We present results of a search for the X(3872) in B0-->X(3872)KS0,X(3872)-->J/psi pi+ pi-, improved measurements of B-->X(3872)K-, and a study of the J/psi pi+ pi- mass region above the X(3872). We use 232x106 B[overline B] pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- asymmetric-energy storage rings. The results include the 90% confidence interval 1.34x10-6<BR(B0-->X(3872)K0,X-->J/psi pi+ pi-)<10.3x10-6 and the branching fraction BR(B-->X(3872)K-,X-->J/psi pi+ pi-)=(10.1+-2.5+-1.0)x10-6. We observe a (2.7+-1.3+-0.2)MeV/c2 mass difference of the X(3872…
We present the latest B physics results from the CDF experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We focus on a number of analyses, including a measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry of B -> K^(*) mu mu decays, determination of the CP violating phase sin2beta_s in B^0_s-> J/psi phi decays, B -> J/psi X lifetime measurements, observation of resonance structure in Lambda_b -> Lambda_c 3pi, and Upsilon(1S) polarization.
We report branching fractions and charge asymmetries for exclusive decays of charged and neutral B mesons to two-body final states containing a charmonium meson, J/psi or psi(2S). This result is based on a 29.4 fb^{-1} data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e+e- collider.
Using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have observed the Bs meson in e+e- annihilation at the Upsilon(5S) resonance. We find 14 candidates consistent with Bs decays into final states with a J/psi or a Ds(*)-. The probability that we have observed a background fluctuation is less than 8x10e-10. We have established that at the energy of the Upsilon(5S) resonance Bs meson production proceeds predominantly through the creation of Bs*Bs* pairs. We find sigma(e+e- -> Bs*Bs*) = [0.11 (+0.04-0.03)(stat.)+/-0.02(syst.)] nb, and set the following limits: sigma(e+e- -> BsBs) / s…
We study the baryonic charmonium decays of B mesons, B+ to etac K+ and B+ to J/psi K+, where the etac and J/psi subsequently decay into a p pbar or Lambda Lambdabar pair. We measure the J/psi to p pbar, Lambda Lambdabar anisotropy parameters, alpha_B = -0.60 +- 0.13 +-0.14 (p pbar), -0.44 +- 0.51 +- 0.31 (Lambda Lambdabar) and compare to results from e+e- to J/psi formation experiments. We also report the first observation of etac to Lambda Lambdabar. The measured branching fraction is B(etac to Lambda Lambdabar) = (0.87 +0.24 -0.21(stat) +0.09 -0.14(syst) +- 0.27 (PDG)) x 10^-3. This study is…
From a Dalitz plot analysis of B --> K pi psi' decays, we find a signal for Z(4430)+ --> pi+ psi' with a mass M= (4443(+15-12)(+19-13))MeV/c^2, width Gamma= (107(+86-43)(+74-56))MeV, product branching fraction BR(B0 --> K- Z(4430)+) x BR(Z(4430)+ --> pi+ psi')= (3.2(+1.8-0.9)(+5.3-1.6)) x 10^{-5}, and significance of 6.4sigma that agrees with previous Belle measurements based on the same data sample. In addition, we determine the branching fraction BR(B^0 --> K*(892)^0 psi')= (5.52(+0.35-0.32)(+0.53-0.58)) x 10^{-4} and the fraction of K*(892)^0 mesons that are longitudinally polarized f_L= 44…
We present an improved measurement of the standard model CP violation parameter sin2phi1 (also known as sin2beta) based on a sample of 45 x 10^6 BBbar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEK asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider. One neutral B meson is reconstructed in a J/psi Ks, psi(2s) Ks, chi_c1 Ks, eta_c Ks, J/psi K*, or J/psi KL CP-eigenstate decay channel and the flavor of accompanying B meson is identified from its decay products. From the asymmetry in the distribution of the time intervals between the two B meson decay points, we obtain sin2phi1 = 0…
In this note we present a study of the radiative tails in the invariant mass spectra of muon or electron pairs from J/psi, psi(2S) and Upsilon(1S) decays which is due to an additional emission of a photon. An analytic formula for dilepton mass spectra in radiative decays is derived and a Monte Carlo simulation for realistic detector conditions is used to study effects on the spectra. A rather simple parameterisation is given, suitable for the treatment of real data.
