We study the entanglement generated between Dirac modes in a 2-dimensional conformally flat Robertson-Walker universe. We find radical qualitative differences between the bosonic and fermionic entanglement generated by the expansion. The particular way in which fermionic fields get entangled encodes more information about the underlying space-time than the bosonic case, thereby allowing us to reconstruct the parameters of the history of the expansion. This highlights the importance of bosonic/fermionic statistics to account for relativistic effects on the entanglement of quantum fields.
We show how to transform a Dirac equation in curved spacetime into a Dirac equation in flat spacetime. In particular, we show that any solution of the free massless Dirac equation in a 1+1 dimensional flat spacetime can be transformed via a local phase transformation into a solution of the corresponding Dirac equation in a curved background, where the spacetime metric is encoded into the phase. In this way, the existing quantum simulators of the Dirac equation can naturally incorporate curved spacetimes. As a first example we use our technique to obtain solutions of the Dirac equation in a par…
We investigate the effects of spin on entanglement arising in Dirac field in an expanding spacetime characterized by the Robertson-Walker metric. We present a general approach that allows us to treat the case where only charge conservation is required, as well as the case where also angular momentum conservation is required. We fiend that in both situations entanglement, quantified by subsystem entropy, behaves the same and does not qualitatively deviates from the spinless case. Differences only arise when particles and/or antiparticles are present in the input state.
We study the effect of space anisotropy in the entanglement generated by expanding universe on spin 0 and 1/2 fields. For massive scalar field we find revivals of entanglement entropy vs momentum after decreasing from the maximum at k = 0. In massive Dirac field the effect is a slight distortion of the non-monotonic profile giving rise to the maximum of entanglement entropy at k > 0. More interestingly, massless field of both type can only get entangled through anisotropy, with a maximum of entanglement entropy occurring at k > 0.
In this contribution, we study the Dirac oscillator under the influence of noninertial effects of a rotating frame in the cosmic string spacetime. We show that both noninertial effects and the topology of the cosmic string spacetime restrict the physical region of the spacetime where the quantum particle can be placed, and discuss two different cases of bound states solutions of the Dirac equation by analysing the behaviour of the Dirac oscillator frequency.
By considering a spacetime with a spiral dislocation, we analyse the behaviour of the Dirac field subject to a hard-wall confining potential. In search of relativistic bound states solutions, we discuss the influence of the topology of the spiral dislocation spacetime on the energy levels. Further, we analyse the effects of rotation on the Dirac field in the spiral dislocation spacetime. We show that both rotation and the topology of the spacetime impose a restriction on the values of the radial coordinate. Thus, we analyse the effects of rotation and the topology of the spiral dislocation spa…
We investigate an asymptotically spatially flat Robertson-Walker spacetime from two different perspectives. First, using von Neumann entropy, we evaluate the entanglement generation due to the encoded information in spacetime. Then, we work out the entropy of particle creation based on the quantum thermodynamics of the scalar field on the underlying spacetime. We show that the general behavior of both entropies are the same. Therefore, the entanglement can be applied to the customary quantum thermodynamics of the universe. Also, using these entropies, we can recover some information about the …
We find solutions of the Dirac equation in curved spacetime. In particular, we consider 1+1 dimensional sections of several exotic metrics: the Alcubierre metric, which describes a scenario that allows faster-than-light (FTL) velocity; the Gödel metric, that describes a universe containing closed timelike curves (CTC); and the Kerr metric, which corresponds to the spacetime of a rotating black hole. Moreover, we also show that the techniques that we use in these cases can be extended to nonstatic metrics.
We show that a dynamical spacetime generates entanglement between modes of a quantum field. Conversely, the entanglement encodes information concerning the underlying spacetime structure, which hints at the prospect of applications of this observation to cosmology. Here we illustrate this point by way of an analytically exactly soluble example, that of a scalar quantum field on a two-dimensional asymptotically flat Robertson-Walker expanding spacetime. We explicitly calculate the entanglement in the far future, for a quantum field residing in the vacuum state in the distant past. In this toy u…
We introduce an exact mapping between the Dirac equation in (1+1)-dimensional curved spacetime (DCS) and a multiphoton quantum Rabi model (QRM). A background of a (1+1)-dimensional black hole requires a QRM with one- and two-photon terms that can be implemented in a trapped ion for the quantum simulation of Dirac particles in curved spacetime. We illustrate our proposal with a numerical analysis of the free fall of a Dirac particle into a (1+1)-dimensional black hole, and find that the Zitterbewegung effect, measurable via the oscillatory trajectory of the Dirac particle, persists in the prese…
When quantum fields are coupled to gravitational fields, spontaneous particle creation may occur similarly to when they are coupled to external electromagnetic fields. Gravitational fields can be incorporated as background spacetime if the back-action of matter on it can be neglected, yielding modified Dirac or Klein-Gordon equations for elementary fermions and bosons respectively. The semi-classical description predicts particle creation in many scenarios including expanding universe, near the event horizon of a black hole (the Hawking effect), and an accelerating observer in flat spacetime (…
The relativistic acceleration of an electron in a uniform gravitational field is calculated numerically using the generalization of the Dirac equation to curved spacetime. Equivalent results are also obtained analytically using an iterative approach that is not based on the WKB approximation, which has been used extensively in the past. The acceleration is found to be proportional to a factor of $(1-3v^2/c^2)$ using Schwarzschild coordinates, which is consistent with the classical geodesic of a particle. These techniques may be useful in resolving the differences between commonly-used approxim…
In this paper, we study the influence of the Aharonov-Casher effect [Y. Aharonov and A. Casher, Phys. Rev. Lett. 53, 319 (1984).] on the Dirac oscillator in three different scenarios of general relativity: the Minkowski spacetime, the cosmic string spacetime and the cosmic dislocation spacetime. In this way, we solve the Dirac equation and obtain the energy levels for bound states and the Dirac spinors for positive-energy solutions. We show that the relativistic energy levels depend on the Aharonov-Casher geometric phase. We also discuss the influence of curvature and torsion on the relativist…
We use the quantumcorrelation of both logarithmic negativity andmutual information between a qubit and a relativistic boson to analyze the dynamics of Universe expansion. These dynamical quantum correlations can encode the information about underlying spacetime structure, which suggests a promising application in observational cosmology. We find that the dynamics of both logarithmic negativity and mutual information between the qubit and the boson are very similar. They decrease monotonically with the growth of the expansion volume and the expansion rate. Smaller momentum and medium-sized mass…
We study the evolution of the two scalar fields entangled via a mutual interaction in an expanding spacetime. We compute the logarithmic negativity to leading order in perturbation theory and show that for lowest order in the coupling constants, the mutual interaction will give rise to the survival of the quantum correlations in the limit of the smooth expansion. The results suggest that interacting fields can codify more information about the underlying expansion spacetime and lead to interesting observable effects.
In this paper we consider the Dirac oscillator in the context of Doubly General Relativity or Gravity's Rainbow. In order to obtain the energy levels of the Dirac oscillator, we solve the Dirac equation in the cosmic string spacetime modified by gravity's rainbow scenarios described by two rainbow functions. We then obtain that, as a consequence of the modification of the cosmic string line element by the two rainbow functions, the energy levels of the Dirac oscillator are appreciable altered. The results are plotted and compared with the standard case, without gravity's rainbow effects.
In this work, we investigate how the anisotropy affects the cosmological parameters estimation. Here the anisotropy is incorporated as a small gravitational disturbance. We calculate the Fisher information for both cosmological parameters $ε$ (expansion volume) and $ρ$ (expansion rate), and we show that the anisotropy introduces oscillations in the Fisher information spectrum. This implies that the estimation of the cosmological parameters is sensible to the direction of the momentum $k$ of particles. In addition, we observe that for small values of the momentum $k$ there is a substantial diff…
We use a generalized scheme of supersymmetric quantum mechanics to obtain the energy spectrum and wave function for Dirac equation in (1+1)-dimensional spacetime coupled to a static scalar field.
We investigate a quantum teleportation process between two comoving observers Alice and Bob in an anisotropic expanding spacetime. In this model, we calculate the fidelity of teleportation and we noted an oscillation of its spectrum as a function of the azimuthal angle. We found that for the polar angle $ϕ= \fracπ{2}$ and the azimuthal angle $θ\neq \frac{3π}{4} + nπ$ with $n = 0, 1, 2, ...$ the efficiency of the process decreases, i.e., the fidelity is less than one. In addition, it is shown that the anisotropic effects on the fidelity becomes more significative in the regime of smooth expansi…
In this short paper, we review the Dirac equation on the zero-gravity Kerr-Newman spacetime. Our main objective is to provide a correspondence between the classification of the bound states for the zGKN spectrum and the usual hydrogenic states $1s_{1/2}$, $2s_{1/2}$, etc. of the Hydrogen atom.
The Dirac equation with chiral symmetry is derived using the irreducible representations of the Poincaré group, the Lagrangian formalism, and a novel method of projection operators that takes as its starting point the minimal assumption of four linearly independent physical states. We thereby demonstrate the fundamental nature of this form of the Dirac equation. The resulting equation is then examined within the context of spacetime and CPT symmetries with a discussion of the implications for the general formulation of physical theories.
In this paper, we study the influence of noninertial effects on the Dirac oscillator in the cosmic string spacetime background. We discuss the behaviour of the oscillator frequency in a noninertial system that allows us to obtain relativistic bound state solutions. We also discuss the influence of the topology of the cosmic string spacetime on the relativistic energy levels, and obtain the Dirac spinors for positive-energy solutions. Furthermore, by taking the nonrelativistic limit of the energy levels, we compare the nonrelativistic energy levels to the confinement of a spin-half particle to …
We show that the internal stationary state of a black hole for massless Dirac fields can be represented by an entangled state of collapsing matter and infalling Hawking radiation. This implies that the Horowitz-Maldacena conjecture for the black hole final state originally proposed for the massless scalar fields is also applicable to fermionic fields as well. For an initially mixed state we find that the measure of mixedness is expected to decrease under evaporation.
The relativistic hydrogen atom in an Euclidean space-time of arbitrary number of space dimensions ($D$) plus one time dimension is revisited. In particular, numerical solutions of the radial Dirac equation for a generalized Coulombian potential proportional to $1/r^{(D-2)}$ are investigated. It is argued that one could not find any physical solution for $D\geq 4$.
We consider Dirac equation in $(2+1)$ dimensional curved spacetime in the presence of a scalar potential. It is then shown that the zero energy states are degenerate and they can be obtained when the momentum $k_y$ in the $y$ direction satisfies certain constraints involving the mass parameter and the scalar potential coupling.
A gravity-induced approach to wavefunction collapse based on semiclassical gravity is enhanced by the hypothesis of a temporally expanding spacetime, which leads to a collapse model that can resolve the conflict between quantum nonlocality and relativity. It is postulated that the spacetime region on which the evolution of the state vector exists is bounded towards the future by a border that is dynamically moving towards the future, and at which the state vector must fulfil a boundary condition. Wavefunction collapse is represented in such a way that the evolution of the state vector changes …
We present the fundamental solutions for the spin-1/2 fields propagating in the spacetimes with power type expansion/contraction and the fundamental solution of the Cauchy problem for the Dirac equation. The derivation of these fundamental solutions is based on formulas for the solutions to the generalized Euler-Poisson-Darboux equation, which are obtained by the integral transform approach.
We show that representations of the group of spacetime diffeomorphism and the Dirac algebra both arise in a phase-space histories version of canonical general relativity. This is the general-relativistic analogue of the novel time structure introduced previously in history theory: namely, the existence in non-relativistic physics of two types of time translation; and the existence in relativistic field theory of two distinct Poincare groups.
A Lagrangian theory giving rise to a version of the Dirac-Kahler equations on curved backgrounds is considered. The principal pieces are the general fields which have values in the algebra of the Dirac matrices and satisfy a Dirac-type equation. Their components are scalar, pseudo-scalar, vector, axial-vector fields and fields strength which satisfy an irreducible systems of first-order Dirac-Kahler equations having remarkable gauge and duality properties similar to those of the flat case. The vector and axial-vector fields are the physical potentials giving rise to the field strength while th…
Bosonization in curved spacetime maps massive Thirring model (self-interacting Dirac fermions) to a generalized sine-Gordon model, both living in $1+1$-dimensional curved spacetime. Applying this duality we have shown that the Thirring model fermion, in non-relativistic limit, gets identified with the soliton of non-linear Scrodinger model with Kerr form of non-linearity. We discuss one particular optical soliton in the latter model and relate it with the Thirring model fermion.
Dirac's wave equation for a point electron in the topologically nontrivial maximal analytically extended electromagnetic Kerr--Newman spacetime is studied in a zero-gravity limit; here, "zero-gravity" means $G\to 0$, where $G$ is Newton's constant of universal gravitation. The following results are obtained: the formal Dirac Hamiltonian on the static spacelike slices is essentially self-adjoint; the spectrum of the self-adjoint extension is symmetric about zero, featuring a continuum with a gap about zero that, under two smallness conditions, contains a point spectrum. Some of our results exte…
In "Part I: Vector Analysis of Spinors", the author studied the geometry of two component spinors as points on the Riemann sphere in the geometric algebra of three dimensional Euclidean space. Here, these ideas are generalized to apply to four component Dirac spinors on the complex Riemann sphere in the complexified geometric algebra of spacetime, which includes Lorentz transformations. The development of generalized Pauli matrices eliminate the need for the traditional Dirac gamma matrices. We give the discrete probability distribution of measuring a spin 1/2 particle in an arbitrary spin sta…
We argue that the Fermi-Hubbard Hamiltonian describing the physics of ultracold atoms on optical lattices in the presence of artificial non-Abelian gauge fields, is exactly equivalent to the gauge theory Hamiltonian describing Dirac fermions in the lattice. We show that it is possible to couple the Dirac fermions to an "artificial" gravitational field, i.e. to consider the Dirac physics in a curved spacetime. We identify the special class of spacetime metrics that admit a simple realization in terms of a Fermi-Hubbard model subjected to an artificial SU(2) field, corresponding to position depe…
