We review the result of SUSY parameter fits based on frequentist analyses of experimental constraints from electroweak precision data, (g-2)_mu, B-physics and cosmological data. We investigate the parameters of the constrained MSSM (CMSSM) with universal soft supersymmetry-breaking mass parameters, and a model with common non-universal Higgs mass parameters in the superpotential (NUHM1). Shown are the results for the SUSY and Higgs spectrum of the models. Many sparticle masses are highly correlated in both the CMSSM and NUHM1, and parts of the regions preferred at the 68% C.L. are accessible to early LHC running. The best-fit points could be tested even with 1/fb at sqrt[s] = 7 Tev.
While the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM) with universal gaugino masses, m_{1/2}, scalar masses, m_0, and A-terms, A_0, defined at some high energy scale (usually taken to be the GUT scale) is motivated by general features of supergravity models, it does not carry all of the constraints imposed by minimal supergravity (mSUGRA). In particular, the CMSSM does not impose a relation between the trilinear and bilinear soft supersymmetry breaking terms, B_0 = A_0 - m_0, nor does it impose the relation between the soft scalar masses and the gravitino mass, m_0 = m_{3/2}. As …
We consider the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) with varying amounts of non-universality in the soft supersymmetry-breaking contributions to the Higgs scalar masses. In addition to the constrained MSSM (CMSSM) in which these are universal with the soft supersymmetry-breaking contributions to the squark and slepton masses at the input GUT scale, we consider scenarios in which both the Higgs scalar masses are non-universal by the same amount (NUHM1), and scenarios in which they are independently non-universal (NUHM2). We show how the NUHM1 scenarios generalize the (…
We introduce a set of CMSSM benchmark scenarios that take into account the constraints from LEP, Tevatron, $b \to s γ$, $g_μ- 2$ and cosmology. The benchmark points are chosen to span the range of different generic possibilities, including focus-point models, points where coannihilation effects on the relic density are important, and points with rapid relic annihilation via direct-channel Higgs poles, as well as points with smaller sparticle masses. We make initial estimates of the physics reaches of different accelerators, including the LHC, and $e^+ e^-$ colliders in the sub- and multi-TeV r…
Supersymmetry has been often invoqued as the new physics that might reconcile the experimental muon magnetic anomaly, a_mu, with the theoretical prediction (basing the computation of the hadronic contribution on e^+ e^- data). However, in the context of the CMSSM, the required supersymmetric contributions (which grow with decreasing supersymmetric masses) are in potential tension with a possibly large Higgs mass (which requires large stop masses). In the limit of very large m_h supersymmetry gets decoupled, and the CMSSM must show the same discrepancy as the SM with a_mu . But it is much less …
We consider the potentials of the LHC and a linear e^+e^- collider (LC) for discovering supersymmetric particles in variants of the MSSM with soft supersymmetry-breaking mass parameters constrained to be universal at the GUT scale (CMSSM) or at some lower scale M_{in} (GUT-less models), as may occur in some scenarios with mirage unification. Whereas the LHC should be able to discover squarks and/or gluinos along all the CMSSM coannihilation strip where the relic neutralino LSP density lies within the range favoured for cold dark matter, many GUT-less models could escape LHC detection. In parti…
The see-saw mechanism of neutrino mass generation, when incorporated in supersymmetric theories with supergravity mediated supersymmetry breaking, results in low-energy lepton-flavour violation arising from the soft supersymmetry breaking slepton masses. The parameter space of supergravity theories with conserved R-parity is severely constrained by the requirement that the LSP provide cold dark matter with a relic density in the range indicated by the recent WMAP measurements, as well as by laboratory constraints. We calculate the $\meg$ branching ratio for the constrained minimal supersymmetr…
Working in the context of the CMSSM, we argue that phenomenological constraints now require the universal soft supersymmetry-breaking scalar mass m_0 be non-zero at the input GUT scale. This conclusion is primarily imposed by the LEP lower limit on the Higgs mass and the requirement that the lightest supersymmetric particle not be charged. We find that m_0 > 0 for all tan beta if mu < 0, and m_0 = 0 may be allowed for mu > 0 only when tan beta sim 8 and one allows an uncertainty of 3+ GeV in the theoretical calculation of the Higgs mass. Upper limits on flavour-changing neutral interactions in…
We investigate the constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM) in the light of constraining experimental and observational data from precision measurements, astrophysics, direct supersymmetry searches at the LHC and measurements of the properties of the Higgs boson, by means of a global fit using the program Fittino. As in previous studies, we find rather poor agreement of the best fit point with the global data. We also investigate the stability of the electro-weak vacuum in the preferred region of parameter space around the best fit point. We find that the vacuum is metastable,…
We present a phenomenological appraisal of the results of several searches for Supersymmetry (SUSY) performed at the LHC by the CMS collaboration and interpreted in the context of the cMSSM. Part of the analysis focuses on which SUSY production processes are being probed. We observe that much of the current exclusion region is dominated by squark-squark and squark-gluino production, and explain the shape of the exclusion curves. Based on this analysis and an estimation of future reach, additional simplified models are suggested. Other phenomenological details are discussed, such as the effect …
The accuracy in the measurement of the masses of sleptons and heavy Higgs bosons in cMSSM scenarios, compatible with the WMAP result on cold dark matter, has been re-analysed in view of the requirements for predicting this density to a few percent level from SUSY measurements at the linear collider.
We consider the possibility that the soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters m_{1/2} and m_0 of the MSSM are universal at some scale M_{in} below the supersymmetric grand unification scale M_{GUT}, as might occur in scenarios where either the primordial supersymmetry-breaking mechanism or its communication to the observable sector involve a dynamical scale below M_{GUT}. We analyze the (m_{1/2}, m_0) planes of such sub-GUT CMSSM models, noting the dependences of phenomenological, experimental and cosmological constraints on M_{in}. In particular, we find that the coannihilation, focus-point and…
We calculate Bayes factors to quantify how the feasibility of the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM) has changed in the light of a series of observations. This is done in the Bayesian spirit where probability reflects a degree of belief in a proposition and Bayes' theorem tells us how to update it after acquiring new information. Our experimental baseline is the approximate knowledge that was available before LEP, and our comparison model is the Standard Model with a simple dark matter candidate. To quantify the amount by which experiments have altered our relative belie…
We revisit minimal supersymmetric SU(5) grand unification (GUT) models in which the soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters of the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) are universal at some input scale, $M_{in}$, above the supersymmetric gauge coupling unification scale, $M_{GUT}$. As in the constrained MSSM (CMSSM), we assume that the scalar masses and gaugino masses have common values, $m_0$ and $m_{1/2}$ respectively, at $M_{in}$, as do the trilinear soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters $A_0$. Going beyond previous studies of such a super-GUT CMSSM scenario, we explore the constrai…
We present an analysis of the compatibility between the Galactic Centre Excess (GCE) and the Constrained MSSM (CMSSM). We perform a global fit to the relevant experimental data including the GCE taking into account the systematic uncertainties. We find that the CMSSM is able to account for the GCE and maintain agreement with the other experimental searches, providing the first example that the GCE can be explained in the framework of universal supersymmetry. We map out the region compatible at 2 sigma and comment on its phenomenology. We find that for the CMSSM to explain the GCE the solution …
We discuss the potential impacts on the CMSSM of future LHC runs and possible electron-positron and higher-energy proton-proton colliders, considering searches for supersymmetry via MET events, precision electroweak physics, Higgs measurements and dark matter searches. We validate and present estimates of the physics reach for exclusion or discovery of supersymmetry via MET searches at the LHC, which should cover the low-mass regions of the CMSSM parameter space favoured in a recent global analysis. As we illustrate with a low-mass benchmark point, a discovery would make possible accurate LHC …
We discuss the sensitivities of present-day electroweak precision data to the possible scale of supersymmetry within the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM). Our analysis is based on M_W, sin^2 theta_eff, (g-2)_mu, BR(b -> s gamma), and the lightest MSSM Higgs boson mass, M_h. We display the impact of the recent reduction in m_t from 178.0 +- 4.3 GeV to 172.7 +- 2.9 GeV on the interpretation of the precision observables. We show the currently preferred values of the CMSSM mass scale m_{1/2} based on a global chi^2 fit, assuming that the lightest supersymm…
We consider two potential non-accelerator signatures of generalizations of the well-studied constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM). In one generalization, the universality constraints on soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters are applied at some input scale $M_{in}$ below the grand unification (GUT) scale $M_{GUT}$, a scenario referred to as `sub-GUT'. The other generalization we consider is to retain GUT-scale universality for the squark and slepton masses, but to relax universality for the soft supersymmetry-breaking contributions to the masses of the Higgs doublets. As wi…
We estimate the mass of the lightest neutral Higgs boson h in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model with universal soft supersymmetry-breaking masses (CMSSM), subject to the available accelerator and astrophysical constraints. For m_t = 174.3 GeV, we find that 114 GeV < m_h < 127 GeV and a peak in the tan beta distribution simeq 55. We observe two distinct peaks in the distribution of m_h values, corresponding to two different regions of the CMSSM parameter space. Values of m_h < 119 GeV correspond to small values of the gaugino mass m_{1/2} and the soft trilinear supersym…
The implications of the latest measurement of the branching fraction of B($ b\rightarrow s γ$) of b hadrons, which is another signature of New Physics beyond Standard Model is presented here. The quark transitions $ b \rightarrow s $, $ b \rightarrow d $ do not happen at tree level in the Standard Model as the Z boson does not couple to quarks of different flavour. In this work the present bounds on the quark transition $ b \rightarrow s $ within the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), in which there are three independent soft SUSY breaking parameters $ …
The Higgs boson mass and the abundance of dark matter constrain the CMSSM/mSUGRA supersymmetry breaking inputs. A complete map of the CMSSM that is consistent with these two measured quantities is provided. Various "continents," consisting of non-excluded models, can be organized by their dark matter dynamics. The following mechanisms manifest: well-tempering, resonant pseudo-scalar Higgs annihilation, neutralino/stau coannihilations and neutralino/stop coannihilations. Benchmark models are chosen in order to characterize the viable regions. The expected visible signals of each are described, …
We discuss the possibilities for the direct detection of neutralino dark matter via elastic scattering in variants of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) with non-universal supersymmetry-breaking contributions to the Higgs masses, which may be either equal (NUHM1) or independent (NUHM2). We compare the ranges found in the NUHM1 and NUHM2 with that found in the MSSM with universal supersymmetry-breaking contributions to all scalar masses, the CMSSM. We find that both the NUHM1 and NUHM2 offer the possibility of larger spin-independent dark matter scattering cross s…
In the CMSSM the heaviest scalar and pseudo-scalar Higgs bosons decay largely into b-quarks and tau-leptons because of the large $\tanβ$ values favored by the relic density. In the NMSSM the number of possible decay modes is much richer. In addition to the CMSSM-like scenarios, the decay of the heavy Higgs bosons is preferentially into top quark pairs (if kinematically allowed), lighter Higgs bosons or neutralinos, leading to invisible decays. We provide a scan over the NMSSM parameter space to project the 6D parameter space of the Higgs sector on the 3D space of the Higgs masses to determine …
Electroweak precision measurements can provide indirect information about the possible scale of supersymmetry already at the present level of accuracy. We update the present-day sensitivities of precision data using the new experimental top-quark mass, m_t = 172.7 \pm 2.9 GeV, within the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), in which there are three independent soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters m_{1/2}, m_0 and A_0. In addition to M_W and sin^2 theta_eff, the analysis is based on (g-2)_μ, BR(b -> s gamma) and the lightest MSSM Higgs boson mass, M_h. A…
We critically examine interpretations of hypothetical supersymmetric LHC signals, fitting to alternative wrong models of supersymmetry breaking. The signals we consider are some of the most constraining on the sparticle spectrum: invariant mass distributions with edges and end-points from the golden cascade decay chain \tilde{q}_L -> q χ_2^0 (-> \tilde{l}^{\pm} l^{\mp} q) -> χ_1^0 l^+ l^- q. We assume a CMSSM point to be the `correct' one, and fit the signals instead to minimal gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking models (mGMSB) with a neutralino quasi-stable lightest supersymmetric particle,…
The CMS and ATLAS Collaborations have recently published the results of initial direct LHC searches for supersymmetry analyzing ~ 35/pb of data taken at 7 TeV in the centre of mass. We incorporate these results into a frequentist analysis of the probable ranges of parameters of simple versions of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM), namely the constrained MSSM (CMSSM), a model with common non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM1), the very constrained MSSM (VCMSSM) and minimal supergravity (mSUGRA). We present updated predictions for the gluino mass, m_gl, the light Higg…
Recent LHC data significantly extend the exclusion limits for supersymmetric particles, particularly in the jets plus missing transverse momentum channels. The most recent such data have so far been interpreted by the experiment in only two different supersymmetry breaking models: the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM) and a simplified model with only squarks and gluinos and massless neutralinos. We compare kinematical distributions of supersymmetric signal events predicted by the CMSSM and anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking (mAMSB) before calculating exclusion limi…
We perform global fits to the parameters of the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) and to a variant with non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM1). In addition to constraints from low-energy precision observables and the cosmological dark matter density, we take into account the LHC exclusions from searches in jets plus missing transverse energy signatures with about 5\,fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We also include the most recent upper bound on the branching ratio $B_s\toμμ$ from LHCb. Furthermore, constraints from and implications for direct and indirect dark matter sea…
We perform global fits to the parameters of the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) and to a variant with non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM1). In addition to constraints from low-energy precision observables and the cosmological dark matter density, we take into account the LHC exclusions from searches in jets plus missing transverse energy signatures with about 5/fb of integrated luminosity at sqrt(s)=7TeV. We also include the most recent upper bound on the branching ratio Bs->mumu from LHCb. The best fit of the CMSSM prefers a light Higgs boson just above the experimenta…
Discussions are underway for a high-energy proton-proton collider. Two preliminary ideas are the $\sqrt{s}=33$ TeV HE-LHC and the $\sqrt{s}=100$ TeV VLHC. With Bayesian statistics, we calculate the probabilities that the LHC, HE-LHC and VLHC discover SUSY in the future, assuming that nature is described by the CMSSM and given the experimental data from the LHC, LUX and Planck. We find that the LHC with $300$/fb at $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV has a $15$-$75%$ probability of discovering SUSY. Should that run fail to discover SUSY, the probability of discovering SUSY with $3000$/fb is merely $1$-$10%$. Wer…
We examine the prospects of using two alternative and complementary ways to explore the regions that are favored by global constraints in two simple unified supersymmetric models: the CMSSM and the NUHM. First, we consider BR(Bs->μμ), which has recently been for the first time measured by LHCb. In the CMSSM we show that ultimate, but realistic, improvement in the determination of the observable to about 5-10% around the Standard Model value would strongly disfavor the A-funnel region, while not affecting much the other favored regions. Second, we show that all the favored regions of the CMSSM …
A pressing problem for supersymmetry (SUSY) phenomenologists is how to incorporate Large Hadron Collider search results into parameter fits designed to measure or constrain the SUSY parameters. Owing to the computational expense of fully simulating lots of points in a generic SUSY space to aid the calculation of the likelihoods, the limits published by experimental collaborations are frequently interpreted in slices of reduced parameter spaces. For example, both ATLAS and CMS have presented results in the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Model (CMSSM) by fixing two of four parameters, and ge…
We propose a rigorous and effective way to compare experimental and theoretical histograms, incorporating the different sources of statistical and systematic uncertainties. This is a useful tool to extract as much information as possible from the comparison between experimental data with theoretical simulations, optimizing the chances of identifying New Physics at the LHC. We illustrate this by showing how a search in the CMSSM parameter space, using Bayesian techniques, can effectively find the correct values of the CMSSM parameters by comparing histograms of events with multijets + missing t…
Some regions of parameter space of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) with high scale supersymmetry breaking have extreme sensitivity of electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) to the top quark mass through renormalisation group evolution effects. This leads to uncertainties in the predictions which need to be taken into account in the interpretation of searches for supersymmetric particles in these regions. As an example, we provide estimates of the current uncertainties on the position in parameter space of the region which does not break electroweak symmetry in the constrained MS…
We discuss the observability of the lightest neutral Higgs boson in the constrained MSSM (CMSSM), with universal soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters, at hadron colliders such as the Tevatron and the LHC. We take account of the constraints on parameter space provided by LEP, the measured rate of b to s gamma decay, the cosmological relic density Omega h^2, and the recent measurement of g_mu - 2. We normalize products of the expected CMSSM Higgs production cross sections and decay branching ratios (sigma B)_CMSSM relative to those expected for a Standard Model Higgs boson of the same mass. In…
On the basis of frequentist analyses of experimental constraints from electroweak precision data, g-2, B physics and cosmological data, we investigate the parameters of the constrained MSSM (CMSSM) with universal soft supersymmetry-breaking mass parameters, and a model with common non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM1). We present chi^2 likelihood functions for the masses of supersymmetric particles and Higgs bosons, as well as b to s gamma, b to mu mu and the spin-independent dark matter scattering cross section. In the CMSSM we find preferences for sparticle masses that are relatively light. In …
Precision measurements, now and at a future linear electron-positron collider (ILC), can provide indirect information about the possible scale of supersymmetry. Performing a chi^2 analysis, we illustrate the present-day and possible future ILC sensitivities within the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), varying the parameters so as to obtain the cold dark matter density allowed by WMAP and other cosmological data. The current data are in very good agreement with the CMSSM prediction for tan beta = 10, with a clear preference for relatively small values o…
We study one loop supersymmetric corrections to precision observables. Adding LEP2 e ebar --> f fbar cross sections to the data-set removes previous hints for SUSY and the resulting constraints are in some cases stronger than direct bounds on sparticle masses. We consider specific models: split SUSY, CMSSM, gauge mediation, anomaly and radion mediation. Beyond performing a complete one-loop analysis, we also develop a simple approximation, based on the Shat, That, W, Y `universal' parameters. SUSY corrections give W,Y > 0 and mainly depend on the left-handed slepton and squark masses, on M_2 a…
In order to place limits on dark matter (DM) properties using $γ$-ray observations, previous analyses have often assumed a very simple parametrisation of the $γ$-ray annihilation yield; typically, it has been assumed that annihilation proceeds through a single channel only. In realistic DM models, annihilation may occur into many different final states, making this quite a rough ansatz. With additional processes like virtual internal bremsstrahlung and final state radiation, this ansatz becomes even more incorrect, and the need for scans of explicit model parameter spaces becomes clear. Here w…
We present detailed calculations of the neutralino-stop coannihilation channels that have the largest impact on the relic neutralino density in the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), in which scalar masses m_0, gaugino masses m_1/2 and the trilinear soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters A_0 are each assumed to be universal at some input grand unification scale. The most important stop-stop* and stop-stop annihilation channels are also calculated, as well as stop-slepton coannihilation channels. We illustrate the importance of these new coannihilation c…
Investigation of well-motivated parameter space in the theories of Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) plays an important role in new physics discoveries. However, a large-scale exploration of models with multi-parameter or equivalent solutions with a finite separation, such as supersymmetric models, is typically a time-consuming and challenging task. In this paper, we propose a self-exploration method, named Machine Learning Scan (MLS), to achieve an efficient test of models. As a proof-of-concept, we apply MLS to investigate the subspace of MSSM and CMSSM and find that such a method can reduce t…
We update previous frequentist analyses of the CMSSM and NUHM1 parameter spaces to include the public results of searches for supersymmetric signals using ~1 /fb of LHC data recorded by ATLAS and CMS and ~0.3/fb of data recorded by LHCb in addition to electroweak precision and B-physics observables. We also include the constraints imposed by the cosmological dark matter density and the XENON100 search for spin-independent dark matter scattering. The LHC data set includes ATLAS and CMS searches for jets + missing ET events and for the heavier MSSM Higgs bosons, and the upper limits on B_s to mu…
Recent CMS data significantly extend the direct search exclusion for supersymmetry. We examine the impact of such data on global fits of the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM) to indirect and cosmological data. By simulating supersymmetric signal events at the LHC, we construct a likelihood map for the recent CMS data, validating it against the exclusion region calculated by the experiment itself. A previous CMSSM global fit is then re-weighted by our likelihood map. The CMS results nibble away at the high fit probability density region, transforming probability distribu…
Recent results from Higgs boson and supersymmetry searches at the Large Hadron Collider provide strong new motivations for supersymmetric theories with heavy superpartners. We reconsider focus point supersymmetry (FP SUSY), in which all squarks and sleptons may have multi-TeV masses without introducing fine-tuning in the weak scale with respect to variations in the fundamental SUSY-breaking parameters. We examine both FP SUSY and its familiar special case, the FP region of mSUGRA/CMSSM, and show that they are beautifully consistent with all particle, astroparticle, and cosmological data, inclu…
We make frequentist analyses of the CMSSM, NUHM1, VCMSSM and mSUGRA parameter spaces taking into account all the public results of searches for supersymmetry using data from the 2010 LHC run and the Xenon100 direct search for dark matter scattering. The LHC data set includes ATLAS and CMS searches for jets + ETslash events (with or without leptons) and for the heavier MSSM Higgs bosons, and the upper limit on bs to mu mu including data from LHCb as well as CDF and D0. The absences of signals in the LHC data favour somewhat heavier mass spectra than in our previous analyses of the CMSSM, NUHM1 …
Stop coannihilation may bring the relic density of heavy supersymmetric dark matter particles into the range allowed by cosmology. The efficiency of this process is enhanced by stop-antistop annihilations into the longitudinal (Goldstone) modes of the $W$ and $Z$ bosons, as well as by Sommerfeld enhancement of stop annihilations and the effects of bound states. Since the couplings of the stops to the Goldstone modes are proportional to the trilinear soft supersymmetry-breaking $A$-terms, these annihilations are enhanced when the $A$-terms are large. However, the Higgs mass may be reduced below…
This study provides a brief overview of low-energy supersymmetry (SUSY) in light of current experimental constraints, such as collider searches, dark matter searches, and muon $g-2$ measurements. In addition, we survey a variety of low energy supersymmetric models: the phenomenological minimal supersymmetric model (MSSM); the supersymmetric models with cut-off-scale boundary conditions, i.e., the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) or the constrained MSSM (CMSSM), the gauge mediation of SUSY breaking (GMSB), and the anomaly mediation of SUSY breaking (AMSB), as well as their extensions. The conclusi…
Some doubts have been expressed about low energy supersymmetry (SUSY) following the first run of the LHC. In this talk I will try to present a more upbeat view based on data, rather than theoretical expectations. In particular, I will make the following points: (a) in my opinion the most attractive candidate for dark matter (DM) is now the lightest neutralino with mass around 1 TeV and with well defined properties (a nearly pure higgsino). This follows primarily from a combination of the properties of the discovered Higgs boson, in particular its mass close to 125 Gev, and the relic density of…
If SUSY is discovered at the LHC, the task will immediately turn to determining the model of SUSY breaking. Here, we employ a Mixed Modulus-Anomaly Mediated SUSY Breaking (MMAMSB) model with very similar LHC phenomenology to the more conventionally studied Constrained Minimal SUSY Model (CMSSM) and minimal Anomaly Mediated SUSY Breaking (mAMSB) models. We then study whether the models can be distinguished and measured. If we only fit to the various mass edges and mass end-points from cascade decay chains that are normally studied, a unique determination and measurement of the model is problema…
We examine the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) with an additional requirement of strict b - tau unification in the region of small tan(beta). We find that the parameter space becomes completely limited below about 1 TeV by physical constraints alone, without a fine-tuning constraint. We study the resulting phenomenological consequences, and point out several ways of falsifying the adopted b - tau unification assumption. We also comment on the effect of a constraint from the non-observation of proton decay.
We study the phenomenology of the CMSSM/mSUGRA with non-thermal neutralino dark matter. Besides the standard parameters of the CMSSM we include the reheating temperature as an extra parameter. Imposing radiative electroweak symmetry breaking with a Higgs mass around 125 GeV and no dark matter overproduction, we contrast the scenario with different experimental bounds from colliders (LEP, LHC), cosmic microwave background (Planck), direct (LUX, XENON100, CDMS, IceCube) and indirect (Fermi) dark matter searches. The allowed parameter space is characterised by a Higgsino-like LSP with a mass arou…
We continue a previous study of the MSSM Higgs Lagrangian extended by all effective operators of dimension d=6 that can be present beyond the MSSM, consistent with its symmetries. By supersymmetry, such operators also extend the neutralino and chargino sectors, and the corresponding component fields Lagrangian is computed onshell. The corrections to the neutralino and chargino masses, due to these operators, are computed analytically in function of the MSSM corresponding values. For individual operators, the corrections are small, of few GeV for the constrained MSSM (CMSSM) viable parameter sp…
We investigate the implications of models that achieve a Standard Model-like Higgs boson of mass near 125 GeV by introducing additional TeV-scale supermultiplets in the vector-like 10+\bar{10} representation of SU(5), within the context of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. We study the resulting mass spectrum of superpartners, comparing and contrasting to the usual gauge-mediated and CMSSM scenarios, and discuss implications for LHC supersymmetry searches. This approach implies that exotic vector-like fermions t'_{1,2}, b',and τ' should be within the reach of the LHC. We discuss the masse…
The lack of evidence for weak scale supersymmetry from LHC Run-I and Run-II results along with null results from direct/indirect dark matter detection experiment have caused a paradigm shift in expected phenomenology of SUSY models. The SUSY dark matter candidate, neutralino $\widetilde{Z}_1$, can only satisfy the measured dark matter abundance due to resonance- and co-annihilations in cMSSM model. Moreover, viable parameter space is highly fine-tuned in the cMSSM. In models that can still satisfy the naturalness condition such as NUHM2, the neutralino is underproduced due to its higgsino natu…
We present global fits of the constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM) and the Non-Universal Higgs Model (NUHM), including the most recent CMS constraint on the Higgs boson mass, 5.8/fb integrated luminosity null Supersymmetry searches by ATLAS, the new LHCb measurement of the Bs to mu+mu- branching ratio and the 7-year WMAP dark matter relic abundance determination. We include the latest dark matter constraints from the XENON100 experiment, marginalising over astrophysical and particle physics uncertainties. We present Bayesian posterior and profile likelihood maps of the hig…
We present a re-interpretation of the recent ATLAS limits on supersymmetry in channels with jets (with and without b-tags) and missing energy, in the context of light third family squarks, while the first two squark families are inaccessible at the 7 TeV run of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In contrast to interpretations in terms of the high-scale based constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM), we primarily use the low-scale parametrisation of the phenomenological MSSM (pMSSM), and translate the limits in terms of physical masses of the third family squarks. Side by side, w…
Flavour-violating couplings of Higgs boson with stop and scharm quarks could be very important as in addition to lifting the mass of the Higgs boson by a few GeV, it could also play a vital phenomenological role in reducing the Supersymmetry breaking scale significantly. In this work, we investigate effects of such flavour-violating couplings within the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) framework in the context of LEP data, Higgs data at the LHC, precision observables and the relic density of the dark matter using Bayesian statistics. Our detailed analysis reveals that …
Flavour-violating interactions of the stop-quarks are expected to provide an additional few GeV contributions to the Higgs-Boson mass, particularly when mix with scharm-quarks, thereby allowing reduced supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking scale compared to flavour-conserving constrained minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM). Inspired by this, we analyse the interactions mentioned above in the context of CMSSM using the information entropy of the Higgs-Boson for a wider region of flavour-violating CMSSM parameter space $(m_0,m_{1/2},A_0,$ $\tanβ,sgn(μ),δ_{ct}^{ij})$, where $δ_{ct}^{ij}$ repres…
We study the impact of the measurements of three sets of observables on the parameter space of the constrained minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM), its slightly general variant, the non-universal scalar model (NUSM), and some selected benchmark points of the 19-parameter phenomenological MSSM (pMSSM): ($i$) the direct measurement of the Higgs boson mass $m_h \approx 125$ GeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC); ($ii$) $Z$ boson decay width in the $b \bar{b}$ channel normalized to its hadronic width ($R_b$), and the forward-backward asymmetry on the $Z$-peak in the same channel $(…
