Recent CMS data significantly extend the direct search exclusion for supersymmetry. We examine the impact of such data on global fits of the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM) to indirect and cosmological data. By simulating supersymmetric signal events at the LHC, we construct a likelihood map for the recent CMS data, validating it against the exclusion region calculated by the experiment itself. A previous CMSSM global fit is then re-weighted by our likelihood map. The CMS results nibble away at the high fit probability density region, transforming probability distributions for the scalar and gluino masses. The CMS search has a non-trivial effect on tan beta due to correlations between the parameters implied by the fits to indirect data.
Recent ATLAS data significantly extend the exclusion limits for supersymmetric particles. We examine the impact of such data on global fits of the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM) to indirect and cosmological data. We calculate the likelihood map of the ATLAS search, taking into account systematic errors on the signal and on the background. We validate our calculation against the ATLAS determinaton of 95% confidence level exclusion contours. A previous CMSSM global fit is then re-weighted by the likelihood map, which takes a bite at the high probability density region …
We propose a rigorous and effective way to compare experimental and theoretical histograms, incorporating the different sources of statistical and systematic uncertainties. This is a useful tool to extract as much information as possible from the comparison between experimental data with theoretical simulations, optimizing the chances of identifying New Physics at the LHC. We illustrate this by showing how a search in the CMSSM parameter space, using Bayesian techniques, can effectively find the correct values of the CMSSM parameters by comparing histograms of events with multijets + missing t…
Previous LHC forecasts for the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM), based on current astrophysical and laboratory measurements, have used priors that are flat in the parameter tan beta, while being constrained to postdict the central experimental value of MZ. We construct a different, new and more natural prior with a measure in mu and B (the more fundamental MSSM parameters from which tan beta and MZ are actually derived). We find that as a consequence this choice leads to a well defined fine-tuning measure in the parameter space. We investigate the effect of such on glo…
We make a frequentist analysis of the parameter space of the CMSSM and NUHM1, using a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) with 95 (221) million points to sample the CMSSM (NUHM1) parameter spaces. Our analysis includes the ATLAS search for supersymmetric jets + MET signals using ~ 5/fb of LHC data at 7 TeV, which we apply using PYTHIA and a Delphes implementation that we validate in the relevant parameter regions of the CMSSM and NUHM1. Our analysis also includes the constraint imposed by searches for B_s to mu+mu- by LHCb, CMS, ATLAS and CDF, and the limit on spin-independent dark matter scatteri…
We study the possibility of a light Dark Matter (DM) within a constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM) framework augmented by a SM singlet-pair sector to account for the non-zero neutrino masses by inverse seesaw mechanism. Working within a 'hybrid' scenario with the MSSM sector fixed at high scale and the singlet neutrino sector at low scale, we find that, contrary to the case of the usual cMSSM where the neutralino DM cannot be very light, we can have a light sneutrino DM with mass below 100 GeV satisfying all the current experimental constraints from cosmology, collider as …
We present a phenomenological appraisal of the results of several searches for Supersymmetry (SUSY) performed at the LHC by the CMS collaboration and interpreted in the context of the cMSSM. Part of the analysis focuses on which SUSY production processes are being probed. We observe that much of the current exclusion region is dominated by squark-squark and squark-gluino production, and explain the shape of the exclusion curves. Based on this analysis and an estimation of future reach, additional simplified models are suggested. Other phenomenological details are discussed, such as the effect …
We have studied the SUSY scale dependence of supersymmetric radiative corrections to bottom quark mass on the branching ratio of $B_s^0 \to μ^+μ^-$ and its impact on the cMSSM parameter space. The supersymmetric radiative corrections to bottom quark mass is in general evaluated at the SUSY scale, which is normally considered to be the geometric mean of stop masses. Then, the running of bottom quark mass is considered from the SUSY scale to the matching scale $M_W$ of the effective Hamiltonian which describes this decay. It is found that the branching ratio varies drastically with the SUSY scal…
We consider the possibility that the gravitino might be the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) in the constrained minimal extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM). In this case, the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NSP) would be unstable, with an abundance constrained by the concordance between the observed light-element abundances and those calculated on the basis of the baryon-to-entropy ratio determined using CMB data. We modify and extend previous CMSSM relic neutralino calculations to evaluate the NSP density, also in the case that the NSP is the lighter stau, and show that th…
We review the prospects of detecting supersymmetric dark matter in the framework of the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, and compare indirect with direct detection capabilities.
Recent lattice measurements have given accurate estimates of the light and strange quark condensates in the proton. We use these new results to significantly improve the dark matter predictions in a set of benchmark models that represent different scenarios in the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM). Because the predicted cross sections are at least an order of magnitude smaller than previously suggested, our results have significant consequences for dark matter searches.
Even within the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) it is possible to induce sfermion flavor mixing through the Renormalization Group Equations (RGE) when the full structure of the Yukawa couplings is considered. We analyse the impact of including those effects on the accurate computation of $B$-physics observables, electroweak precision observables (EWPO) and the Higgs boson mass predictions.
We extend the constrained minimal supersymmetric model (CMSSM) by adding a right-handed neutrino superfield ($ν$CMSSM) which decouples close to the GUT scale. We study the effects of a right-handed neutrino on the low energy spectrum and focus on the predictions for dark matter properties. We pay particular attention to the realization of the light (left-handed) sneutrino which can be the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP) with either the neutralino or gravitino as the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP). Notably, for the case of a neutralino LSP with a sneutrino NLSP, there ar…
The degenerate stop NLSP and neutralino LSP scenario is well motivated but hard to detect at the collider experiments. We propose a novel signature for detection this scenario at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and demonstrate its feasibility.
Motivated by the latest results of the LHC Run-2 and LUX experiments, we examine the status of the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM) by performing a global fit. We construct a likelihood function including the electroweak precision observables, $B$-physics measurements, LHC Run-1 and -2 data of SUSY direct searches, Planck observation of the dark matter relic density and the combined LUX Run-3 and -4 detection limits. Based on the profile likelihood functions of 1 billion samples, we obtain the following observations: (i) The stau coannihilation region has been mostly e…
Supersymmetric Grand Unification usually provides unification of the bottom quark and the tau lepton Yukawa couplings at the GUT scale. In the CMSSM this can be realised only for a very particular choice of parameters. In this letter we study the GUT scale ratio y_tau/y_b for less peculiar parameters in the large tan beta regime and identify one parameter region preferred by current experimental data. In this region, which is well within the reach of the LHC, the ratio is very close to the recently proposed value of 3/2.
We investigate the constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM) in the light of constraining experimental and observational data from precision measurements, astrophysics, direct supersymmetry searches at the LHC and measurements of the properties of the Higgs boson, by means of a global fit using the program Fittino. As in previous studies, we find rather poor agreement of the best fit point with the global data. We also investigate the stability of the electro-weak vacuum in the preferred region of parameter space around the best fit point. We find that the vacuum is metastable,…
Supersymmetry has been often invoqued as the new physics that might reconcile the experimental muon magnetic anomaly, a_mu, with the theoretical prediction (basing the computation of the hadronic contribution on e^+ e^- data). However, in the context of the CMSSM, the required supersymmetric contributions (which grow with decreasing supersymmetric masses) are in potential tension with a possibly large Higgs mass (which requires large stop masses). In the limit of very large m_h supersymmetry gets decoupled, and the CMSSM must show the same discrepancy as the SM with a_mu . But it is much less …
On the basis of frequentist analyses of experimental constraints from electroweak precision data, g-2, B physics and cosmological data, we investigate the parameters of the constrained MSSM (CMSSM) with universal soft supersymmetry-breaking mass parameters, and a model with common non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM1). We present chi^2 likelihood functions for the masses of supersymmetric particles and Higgs bosons, as well as b to s gamma, b to mu mu and the spin-independent dark matter scattering cross section. In the CMSSM we find preferences for sparticle masses that are relatively light. In …
The CMS and ATLAS Collaborations have recently published the results of initial direct LHC searches for supersymmetry analyzing ~ 35/pb of data taken at 7 TeV in the centre of mass. We incorporate these results into a frequentist analysis of the probable ranges of parameters of simple versions of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM), namely the constrained MSSM (CMSSM), a model with common non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM1), the very constrained MSSM (VCMSSM) and minimal supergravity (mSUGRA). We present updated predictions for the gluino mass, m_gl, the light Higg…
The recent data from E821 Brookhaven experiment in conjunction with a new determination of the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of muon, put new bounds on the parameters of the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We study the impact this experimental information, along with the $b \goes s γ$ branching ratio and light Higgs boson mass bound from LEP, to constrain regions of the model which are consistent with the cosmological data. The effect of these to Dark Matter direct searches is also discussed.
We consider two potential non-accelerator signatures of generalizations of the well-studied constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM). In one generalization, the universality constraints on soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters are applied at some input scale $M_{in}$ below the grand unification (GUT) scale $M_{GUT}$, a scenario referred to as `sub-GUT'. The other generalization we consider is to retain GUT-scale universality for the squark and slepton masses, but to relax universality for the soft supersymmetry-breaking contributions to the masses of the Higgs doublets. As wi…
We present global fits of the constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM) and the Non-Universal Higgs Model (NUHM), including the most recent CMS constraint on the Higgs boson mass, 5.8/fb integrated luminosity null Supersymmetry searches by ATLAS, the new LHCb measurement of the Bs to mu+mu- branching ratio and the 7-year WMAP dark matter relic abundance determination. We include the latest dark matter constraints from the XENON100 experiment, marginalising over astrophysical and particle physics uncertainties. We present Bayesian posterior and profile likelihood maps of the hig…
We present new global fits of the cMSSM, including LHC 1/fb integrated luminosity SUSY exclusion limits, recent LHC 5/fb constraints on the mass of the Higgs boson and XENON100 direct detection data. Our analysis fully takes into account astrophysical and hadronic uncertainties that enter the analysis when translating direct detection limits into constraints on the cMSSM parameter space. We provide results for both a Bayesian and a Frequentist statistical analysis. We find that LHC 2011 constraints in combination with XENON100 data can rule out a significant portion of the cMSSM parameter spac…
Neutralino as the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) is a candidate for supersymmetric dark matter. It is known that coannihilation effects could be important in neutralino relic density calculation. Here we present some results on neutralino-stop coannihilation in the CMSSM. In this model, the lighter stop can be degenerate with the lightest neutralino chi when |A_0| is not equal to 0 and large, more specifically when the lighter stop mass is suppressed by large off-diagonal terms in the stop square mass matrix. In the region where the stop is slightly heavier than the neutralino, the coa…
In view of the imminent start of the LHC experimental programme, we use the available indirect experimental and cosmological information to estimate the likely range of parameters of the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), using a Markov-chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) technique to sample the parameter space. The 95% confidence-level area in the (m_0, m_1/2) plane of the CMSSM lies largely within the region that could be explored with 1/fb of integrated luminosity at 14 TeV, and much of the 68% confidence-level area lies within the region that could be explored…
We present updated global fits of the constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM), including the most recent constraints from the ATLAS and CMS detectors at the LHC, as well as the most recent results of the XENON100 experiment. Our robust analysis takes into account both astrophysical and hadronic uncertainties that enter in the calculation of the rate of WIMP-induced recoils in direct detection experiment. We study the consequences for neutralino Dark Matter, and show that current direct detection data already allow to robustly rule out the so-called Focus Point region, therefo…
We revisit minimal supersymmetric SU(5) grand unification (GUT) models in which the soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters of the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) are universal at some input scale, $M_{in}$, above the supersymmetric gauge coupling unification scale, $M_{GUT}$. As in the constrained MSSM (CMSSM), we assume that the scalar masses and gaugino masses have common values, $m_0$ and $m_{1/2}$ respectively, at $M_{in}$, as do the trilinear soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters $A_0$. Going beyond previous studies of such a super-GUT CMSSM scenario, we explore the constrai…
We update previous frequentist analyses of the CMSSM and NUHM1 parameter spaces to include the public results of searches for supersymmetric signals using ~1 /fb of LHC data recorded by ATLAS and CMS and ~0.3/fb of data recorded by LHCb in addition to electroweak precision and B-physics observables. We also include the constraints imposed by the cosmological dark matter density and the XENON100 search for spin-independent dark matter scattering. The LHC data set includes ATLAS and CMS searches for jets + missing ET events and for the heavier MSSM Higgs bosons, and the upper limits on B_s to mu…
We discuss the sensitivities of present-day electroweak precision data to the possible scale of supersymmetry within the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM). Our analysis is based on M_W, sin^2 theta_eff, (g-2)_mu, BR(b -> s gamma), and the lightest MSSM Higgs boson mass, M_h. We display the impact of the recent reduction in m_t from 178.0 +- 4.3 GeV to 172.7 +- 2.9 GeV on the interpretation of the precision observables. We show the currently preferred values of the CMSSM mass scale m_{1/2} based on a global chi^2 fit, assuming that the lightest supersymm…
We estimate the mass of the lightest neutral Higgs boson h in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model with universal soft supersymmetry-breaking masses (CMSSM), subject to the available accelerator and astrophysical constraints. For m_t = 174.3 GeV, we find that 114 GeV < m_h < 127 GeV and a peak in the tan beta distribution simeq 55. We observe two distinct peaks in the distribution of m_h values, corresponding to two different regions of the CMSSM parameter space. Values of m_h < 119 GeV correspond to small values of the gaugino mass m_{1/2} and the soft trilinear supersym…
We explore electroweak precision observables (EWPO) and $B$-physics observables (BPO) in the CMSSM, the mGMSB and the mAMSB. We perform a chi^2 analysis based on the combination of current EWPO and BPO data. For the first time this allows the comparison of the mGMSB and mAMSB in terms of EWPO and BPO with the CMSSM. We find that relatively low mass scales in all three scenarios are favored. However, the current data from EWPO and BPO can hardly exclude any parameters at the level of Delta chi^2 = 9. Remarkably the mAMSB scenario, despite having one free GUT scale parameter less than the other …
We analyze the impact of data from the full Run 1 of the LHC at 7 and 8 TeV on the CMSSM with mu > 0 and < 0 and the NUHM1 with mu > 0, incorporating the constraints imposed by other experiments such as precision electroweak measurements, flavour measurements, the cosmological density of cold dark matter and the direct search for the scattering of dark matter particles in the LUX experiment. We use the following results from the LHC experiments: ATLAS searches for events with MET accompanied by jets with the full 7 and 8 TeV data, the ATLAS and CMS measurements of the mass of the Higgs boson, …
We investigate the phenomenology of the MSSM extended by a single R-parity violating coupling at the unification scale. For all R-parity violating couplings, we discuss the evolution of the particle spectra through the renormalization group equations and the nature of the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) within the CMSSM, as an example of a specific complete supersymmetric model. We use the nature of the LSP to classify the possible signatures. For each possible scenario we present in detail the current LHC bounds on the supersymmetric particle masses, typically obtained using simplified…
We analyze the implications of several recent cosmological and experimental measurements for the mass spectra of the Constrained MSSM (CMSSM). We compute the relic abundance of the neutralino and compare the new cosmologically expected and excluded mass ranges with those ruled out by the final LEP bounds on the lightest chargino and Higgs masses, with those excluded by current experimental values of $\br(B\to X_s γ)$, and with those favored by the recent measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. We find that for $tanβ\lsim 45$ there remains relatively little room for the mass s…
We review recent progress towards automated higher-order calculations in the MSSM with complex parameters (cMSSM). The consistent renormalization of all relevant sectors of the cMSSM and the inclusion into the FeynArts/FormCalc framework has recently been completed. Some example calculations applying this framework are briefly discussed. These include two-loop corrections to cMSSM Higgs boson masses as well as partial decay widths of electroweak supersymmetric particles decaying into a Higgs boson and another supersymmetric particle.
The recent discovery of a Higgs-like boson at the LHC with a mass of 126 GeV has revived the interest in supersymmetric models, which predicted a Higgs boson mass below 130 GeV long before its discovery. We compare systematically the allowed parameter space in the constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) and the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Model (NMSSM) by minimizing the chi^2 function with respect to all known constraints from accelerators and cosmology using GUT scale parameters. For the CMSSM the Higgs boson mass at tree level is below the Z^0 boson mass and large radiat…
We perform global fits to the parameters of the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) and to a variant with non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM1). In addition to constraints from low-energy precision observables and the cosmological dark matter density, we take into account the LHC exclusions from searches in jets plus missing transverse energy signatures with about 5/fb of integrated luminosity at sqrt(s)=7TeV. We also include the most recent upper bound on the branching ratio Bs->mumu from LHCb. The best fit of the CMSSM prefers a light Higgs boson just above the experimenta…
We critically examine interpretations of hypothetical supersymmetric LHC signals, fitting to alternative wrong models of supersymmetry breaking. The signals we consider are some of the most constraining on the sparticle spectrum: invariant mass distributions with edges and end-points from the golden cascade decay chain \tilde{q}_L -> q χ_2^0 (-> \tilde{l}^{\pm} l^{\mp} q) -> χ_1^0 l^+ l^- q. We assume a CMSSM point to be the `correct' one, and fit the signals instead to minimal gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking models (mGMSB) with a neutralino quasi-stable lightest supersymmetric particle,…
We calculate supersymmetric mass spectra with cMSSM boundary conditions and a type-I seesaw mechanism added to explain current neutrino data. Using published, estimated errors on SUSY mass observables for a combined LHC+ILC analysis, we perform a theoretical $χ^2$ analysis to identify parameter regions where pure cMSSM and cMSSM plus seesaw type-I might be distinguishable with LHC+ILC data. The most important observables are determined to be the (left) smuon and selectron masses and the splitting between them, respectively. Splitting in the (left) smuon and selectrons is tiny in most of cMSSM …
We examine the observed diphoton excess at 750 GeV in the framework of constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (cMSSM). The consistency of cMSSM with the discovery of a 125 GeV Higgs boson and PLANCK/WMAP data for dark matter relic density (RD) demands large mixing in the scalar top (stop) sector and consequently, the existence of a light stop quasi-degenerate with the lightest neutralino. Small decay width due to kinematic and loop suppression of such a stop allows for the existence of stop-antistop bound states (stoponia). Identifying the particular part of cMSSM parameter space co…
Many supersymmetric models such as the CMSSM feature a strip in parameter space where the lightest neutralino χis identified as the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP), the lighter stop squark \tilde t_1 is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP), and the relic χcold dark matter density is brought into the range allowed by astrophysics and cosmology by coannihilation with the lighter stop squark \tilde t_1 NLSP. We calculate the stop coannihilation strip in the CMSSM, incorporating Sommerfeld enhancement effects, and explore the relevant phenomenological constraints and phenomen…
The recent discovery of a Higgs boson by the LHC experiments has profound implications for supersymmetric models. In particular, in the context of restricted models, such as the supergravity-inspired constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model, one finds that preferred regions in parameter space have large soft supersymmetry-breaking trilinear couplings. This potentially gives rise to charge- and/or color-breaking minima besides those with the correct breaking of $SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y$. We investigate the stability of parameter points in this model against tunneling to possible deeper c…
The recent experimental hints for a relatively heavy Higgs with a mass in the range 119-125 GeV favour supersymmetric scenarios with a large mixing in the stop mass matrix. It has been shown that this is possible in the constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM), but only for a very specific relation between the trilinear parameter and the soft scalar mass, favouring A ~ -2m for a relatively light spectrum, and sizable values of tan(beta). We describe here a string-derived scheme in which the first condition is automatic and the second arises as a consequence of imposing radiati…
Within the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Model (CMSSM) it is possible to predict the low energy gauge couplings and masses of the 3 generation particles from a few supergravity inspired parameters at the GUT scale. Moreover, the CMSSM predicts electroweak symmetry breaking due to large radiative corrections from the Yukawa couplings, thus relating the $Z^0$ boson mass to the top quark mass via the renormalization group equations (RGE). In addition, the cosmological constraints on the lifetime of the universe are considered in the fits. The new precise measurements of the strong coupling c…
Some regions of parameter space of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) with high scale supersymmetry breaking have extreme sensitivity of electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) to the top quark mass through renormalisation group evolution effects. This leads to uncertainties in the predictions which need to be taken into account in the interpretation of searches for supersymmetric particles in these regions. As an example, we provide estimates of the current uncertainties on the position in parameter space of the region which does not break electroweak symmetry in the constrained MS…
Recent LHC data significantly extend the exclusion limits for supersymmetric particles, particularly in the jets plus missing transverse momentum channels. The most recent such data have so far been interpreted by the experiment in only two different supersymmetry breaking models: the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM) and a simplified model with only squarks and gluinos and massless neutralinos. We compare kinematical distributions of supersymmetric signal events predicted by the CMSSM and anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking (mAMSB) before calculating exclusion limi…
We present an efficient method of reconstructing the parameters of the Constrained MSSM from assumed future LHC data, applied both on their own right and in combination with the cosmological determination of the relic dark matter abundance. Focusing on the ATLAS SU3 benchmark point, we demonstrate that our simple Gaussian approximation can recover the values of its parameters remarkably well. We examine two popular non-informative priors and obtain very similar results, although when we use an informative, naturalness-motivated prior, we find some sizeable differences. We show that a further s…
We present an updated analysis of the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model with mu>0 supplemented by an `asymptotic' Yukawa coupling quasi-unification condition, which allows an acceptable b-quark mass. Imposing constraints from the cold dark matter abundance in the universe, B physics, the muon anomalous magnetic moment, and the mass m_h of the lightest neutral CP-even Higgs boson, we find that the lightest neutralino cannot act as a cold dark matter candidate. This is mainly because the upper bound on the lightest neutralino relic abundance from cold dark matter considerations, …
Recent work has shown that the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) can possess several distinct solutions for certain values of its parameters. The extra solutions were not previously found by public supersymmetric spectrum generators because fixed point iteration (the algorithm used by the generators) is unstable in the neighbourhood of these solutions. The existence of the additional solutions calls into question the robustness of exclusion limits derived from collider experiments and cosmological observations upon the CMSSM, because limits were only placed on one of th…
We highlight the differences of the dark matter sector between the constrained minimal supersymmetric SM (CMSSM) and the next-to-minimal supersymmetric SM (NMSSM) including the 126 GeV Higgs boson using GUT scale parameters. In the dark matter sector the two models are quite orthogonal: in the CMSSM the WIMP is largely a bino and requires large masses from the LHC constraints. In the NMSSM the WIMP has a large singlino component and is therefore independent of the LHC SUSY mass limits. The light NMSSM neutralino mass range is of interest for the hints concerning light WIMPs in the Fermi data. …
We present the latest results from the MasterCode Collaboration on supersymmetric models, in particular on the CMSSM, the NUHM1, the NUHM2 and the pMSSM. We combine the data from LHC Run I with astrophysical observables, flavor and electroweak precision observables. We determine the best fit regions of these models and analyze the discovery potential of squarks and gluinos at LHC Run II and direct detection experiments.
We make frequentist analyses of the CMSSM, NUHM1, VCMSSM and mSUGRA parameter spaces taking into account all the public results of searches for supersymmetry using data from the 2010 LHC run and the Xenon100 direct search for dark matter scattering. The LHC data set includes ATLAS and CMS searches for jets + ETslash events (with or without leptons) and for the heavier MSSM Higgs bosons, and the upper limit on bs to mu mu including data from LHCb as well as CDF and D0. The absences of signals in the LHC data favour somewhat heavier mass spectra than in our previous analyses of the CMSSM, NUHM1 …
We employ two different statistical tests to examine whether, in the framework of the Constrained MSSM, the experimentally determined values of BR(b->s gamma) and the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, (g-2), are consistent with each other. Our tests are designed to compare the theoretical predictions of the CMSSM in data space with the actual measurements, once all of the CMSSM free parameters have been integrated out and constrained using all other available data. We investigate the value of (g-2) as obtained by using e+e- data alone (which shows a ~3sigma discrepancy with the SM predict…
The status of the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM) will be discussed in light of our current understanding of the relic density after WMAP. A global likelihood analysis of the model is performed including data from direct Higgs searches, global fits to electroweak data, b to s gamma, the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, as well as the cosmological relic density. Also considered are models which relax and further constrain the CMSSM. Prospects for dark matter detection in colliders and cryogenic detectors will be briefly discussed.
Global frequentist fits to the CMSSM and NUHM1 using the MasterCode framework are updated to include the public results of searches for supersymmetric signals using \sim 1/fb of LHC data recorded by ATLAS and CMS and \sim 0.3/fb of data recorded by LHCb. We also include the constraints imposed by the electroweak precision and B-physics observables, the cosmological dark matter density and the XENON100 search for spin-independent dark matter scattering. Finally we also investigate the impact of a possible Higgs signal around 125 GeV. The various constraints set new bounds on the parameter space…
We present an updated and extended global analysis of the Constrained MSSM (CMSSM) taking into account new limits on supersymmetry from ~5/fb data sets at the LHC. In particular, in the case of the razor limit obtained by the CMS Collaboration we simulate detector efficiency for the experimental analysis and derive an approximate but accurate likelihood function. We discuss the impact on the global fit of a possible Higgs boson with mass near 125 GeV, as implied by recent data, and of a new improved limit on BR(B_s->μμ). We identify high posterior probability regions of the CMSSM parameters as…
A pressing problem for supersymmetry (SUSY) phenomenologists is how to incorporate Large Hadron Collider search results into parameter fits designed to measure or constrain the SUSY parameters. Owing to the computational expense of fully simulating lots of points in a generic SUSY space to aid the calculation of the likelihoods, the limits published by experimental collaborations are frequently interpreted in slices of reduced parameter spaces. For example, both ATLAS and CMS have presented results in the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Model (CMSSM) by fixing two of four parameters, and ge…
On the basis of frequentist analyses of experimental constraints from electroweak precision data, (g-2)_mu, B-physics and cosmological data, we predict the masses of Higgs bosons and SUSY particles of the CMSSM, NUHM1, VCMSSM and mSUGRA. In the CMSSM, NUHM1 and VCMSSM we find preferences for sparticle masses that are relatively light, leading to good prospects for the LHC and the ILC. Including first data from SUSY searches at the LHC leads to an increase of the preferred sparticle mass scales, but improves the consistency of the model predictions for M_h with the LEP exclusion bounds.
We compare updated predictions for the elastic scattering of supersymmetric neutralino dark matter with the improved experimental upper limit recently published by CDMS II. We take into account the possibility that the π-nucleon Σterm may be somewhat larger than was previously considered plausible, as may be supported by the masses of exotic baryons reported recently. We also incorporate the new central value of m_t, which affects indirectly constraints on the supersymmetric parameter space, for example via calculations of the relic density. Even if a large value of Σis assumed, the CDMS II da…
