By considering the p-brane motion in G/K symmetric space bulk we identify the G-invariant bulk metric in the solvable lie algebra gauge of the brane action. After calculating the Levi-Civita connection of this bulk metric we use it in the Gauss equation to compute the braneworld curvature in terms of the bulk coordinates. Finally, by making use of the Gauss equation in the braneworld Einstein equation we present a geometrical method of implementing the first fundamental form in the gravitating brane dynamics for the specially chosen symmetric space bulk case leading to an Einstein equation solely expressed in terms of the bulk coordinates of the braneworld.
The braneworld cosmological model was constructed by embedding a 3-brane into a higher dimensional bulk background geometry and the usual matter of our universe was assumed to be confined in the brane while the gravity can propagate in the bulk. By considering that the bulk geometry is anisotropic, after reviewed the separable solution for the bulk metric and the result that the anisotropic property of the bulk can support the perfect fluid kind of the matter in the brane, we develop a formalism of the cosmological perturbation for this kind of anisotropic braneworld model. As in isotropic cas…
We describe the fully gauge invariant cosmological perturbation equations in braneworld teleparallel gravity. In this theory, perturbations are the result of small fluctuations in the pentad field. We derive the gauge invariant 'potentials' for both geometric and matter variables. Unlike the metric fluctuations in general relativity, pentad perturbations can only contain scalar and vector modes. As a result, in teleparallel gravity, tensor modes including gravitational waves, come from the contortion tensor.
Causal cosmological evolutions in Randall Sundrum type II (RS) braneworld gravity with Gauss Bonnet coupling and dissipative effects are discussed here. Causal theory of dissipative effects are illustrated by Full Israel Stewart theory are implemented. We consider the numerical solutions of evolutions and analytic solutions as a special case for extremely non-linear field equation in Randall Sundrum type II braneworld gravity with Gauss Bonnet coupling. Cosmological models admitting Power law expansion, Exponential expansion and evolution in the vicinity of the stationary solution of the unive…
The main objective of this work is to study in some detail the Randall-Sundrum gravity under the gravitational decoupling through the minimal geometric deformation approach (MGD-decoupling). We show a family of new black hole solutions as well as new exact interior solutions for self-gravitating stellar systems and we discuss the corresponding matching conditions.
Braneworld scenarios consider our observable universe as a brane embedded in a 5D space, named bulk. In this work, I derive the field equations of a braneworld model in a generalized theory of gravitation, namely $f(R,T)$ gravity, with $R$ and $T$, representing the Ricci scalar and the trace of the energy-momentum tensor, respectively. The cosmological parameters obtained from this approach are in agreement with recent constraints from Supernovae Ia data combined with baryon acoustic oscillations and cosmic microwave background observations, favouring such an alternative description of the uni…
We study the thermodynamics of some cosmological models based on modified gravity, a braneworld with induced gravity and curvature effect. Dark energy component seems necessary if the models are to approach thermal equilibrium in the long run.
We analyze the background cosmology for an extension of the DGP gravity with Gauss-Bonnet term in the bulk and $f(R)$ gravity on the brane. We investigate implications of this setup on the late-time cosmic history. Within a dynamical system approach, we study cosmological dynamics of this setup focusing on the role played by curvature effects. Finally we constraint the parameters of the model by confrontation with recent observational data.
We construct a holographic dark energy model with a non-minimally coupled scalar field on the brane where Gauss-Bonnet and Induced Gravity effects are taken into account. This model provides a wide parameter space with several interesting cosmological implications. Especially, the equation of state parameter of the model crosses the phantom divide line and it is possible to realize bouncing solutions in this setup.
Gravastars have been considered as a serious alternative to black holes in the past couple of decades. Stable models of gravastar have been constructed in many of the alternate gravity models besides standard General Relativity (GR). The Randall-Sundrum (RS) braneworld model has been a popular alternative to GR, specially in the cosmological and astrophysical context. Here we consider a gravastar model in RS brane gravity. The mathematical solutions in different regions have been obtained along with calculation of matching conditions. Various important physical parameters for the shell have be…
We explore the possibilities of constructing bulk spacetimes in five dimensions for warped braneworld models with a spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) line element on the 3-brane and with a time-dependent extra dimension. Our first step in this direction involves looking at the status of energy conditions when such a bulk line element is assumed. We check these conditions by analysing the relevant inequalities, for specific functional forms (chosen to satisfy certain desirable features) of the warp factor, the cosmological scale factor and the extra-dimensional scale factor. Subse…
In this work we deal with thick brane solutions in the warped five-dimensional braneworld scenario with a single extra spatial dimension of infinite extent, for a class of modified theories of gravity with a Lagrange multiplier. We first present the action, describe the gravity and field equations, outline a strategy to find explicit solutions and explore the stability of the gravitational sector. The investigation deals mainly with the construction of a first order framework capable of using a single scalar field to simulate warp functions that appear in two-field models. In particular, we fi…
A proposal to study the original and new agegraphic dark energy in DGP braneworld cosmology is presented in this work. To verify our model with the observational data, the model is constrained by a variety of independent measurements such as Hubble parameter, cosmic microwave background anisotropies, and baryon acoustic oscillation peaks. The best fitting procedure shows the effectiveness of agegraphic parameter $n$ in distinguishing between the original and new agegraphic dark energy scenarios and subsequent cosmological findings. In particular, the result shows that in both scenarios, our un…
In this paper we address the issue of finding braneworld solutions in a five-dimensional Horndeski gravity and the mechanism of gravity localization into the brane via ``almost massless modes'' for suitable values of the Horndeski parameters. We compute the corrections to the Newtonian potential and discuss the limit where four-dimensional gravity is recovered.
It is argued that the braneworld gravity under the Schwarzschild ansatz should obey three essential equations on the brane, and they are solved exactly. We express the general solution of the fundamental equations of the braneworld in power series of the brane normal coordinate. The power series are derived by solving three independent components of the bulk Einstein equation, and the coefficients are recursively determined in terms of five functions on the brane. The other components of the bulk Einstein equation are automatically satisfied, as far as the five on-brane functions obey three es…
In this paper, we investigate the braneworld scenario in $f(T)$ gravity with a $K$-field as the background field. We consider various different specific forms of $f(T)$ gravity and $K$-field, and find a general way to construct the braneworld model. Based on our solutions, the split of branes is investigated. Besides, the stability of the braneworld is studied by investigating the tensor perturbation of the vielbein.
We investigate localization problem for gauge fields within the 5D standing wave braneworld with real scalar field and show that there exist normalizable vector field zero modes on the brane.
According to Padmanabhan's proposal, the difference between the surface degrees of freedom and the bulk degrees of freedom in a region of space may result in the acceleration of Universe expansion through the relation $ΔV/Δt = N_{\rm sur}-N_{\rm bulk}$ where $N_{\rm bulk}$ and $N_{\rm sur}$ are referred to the degrees of freedom related to the matter and energy content inside the bulk and surface area, respectively \cite{Pad1}. In this paper, we study the dynamical effect of the extrinsic geometrical embedding of an arbitrary four dimensional brane in a higher dimensional bulk space and invest…
Recently, Borzou et al. (BSSY) generalized the Shiromizu-Maeda-Sasaki (SMS) formulation to f(R)-bulks. BSSY brane projected equation carries an additional stress tensor, besides SMS correction for Einstein's theory on the brane. If we change this perspective, by requiring BSSY tensor in the geometrical side acting as f(R)-brane generator, it is possible to relate f(R)-brane/bulk theories, by using curvature dynamical constraint (CDC), a concept that we developed. Since that brane and bulk are f(R), 5/4D scalar curvatures also play a dynamical role and, thus, a dynamical version to Gauss equati…
We investigate the braneworld gravity starting from the non-conservative gravitational field equations in a five-dimensional bulk. The approach is based on the Gauss-Codazzi formalism along with the study of the braneworld consistency conditions. The effective gravitational equations on the brane are obtained and the constraint leading to a brane energy-momentum conservation is analyzed.
In the article we investigate localization problem for spinor fields within the 5D standing wave braneworld with the bulk real scalar field and show that there exist normalizable fermion field zero modes on the brane.
In this work we deal with the spacetime shaped by a straight cosmic string, emerging from local gauge theories, in the braneworld gravity context. We search for physical consequences of string features due to the modified gravitational scenario encoded in the projected gravitational equations. It is shown that cosmic strings in braneworld gravity may present significant differences when compared to the general relativity predictions since its linear density is modified and the deficit angle produced by the cosmic string is attenuated. Furthermore, the existence of cosmic strings in that scenar…
In this paper we consider a $Z_2$ symmetrical 3-brane embedded in a 5-dimensional spacetime. We study the effective Einstein equation and acceleration condition in presence of the quintom dark energy fluid as the bulk matter field. It is shown that the time-dependent bulk quintom field induces a time-dependent cosmological constant on the brane. In the framework of the DGP model, the effective Einstein equation is obtained in two different cases: i) where the quintom field is considered as the bulk matter field and the brane is empty and, ii) where the quintom dark energy is confined on the br…
In this work we study braneworld configurations in the scalar-tensor representation of the $f\left(R,T\right)$ gravity theory in the presence of a Cuscuton term in the source field matter Lagrangian. We start by deriving the scalar-tensor representation of the theory and obtaining its respective equations of motion. We then introduce the standard metric for a flat braneworld model with one extra dimension for the general case of a $f\left(R,T\right)$ theory and study two different models for the source field. Given the complexity of the field equations, these solutions are obtained numerically…
In this paper we consider a static domain wall inside a 3-brane. Differently of the standard achievement obtained in General Relativity, the analysis performed here gives a consistency condition for the existence of static domain walls in a braneworld gravitational scenario. It is also shown the behavior of the domain wall gravitational field in the newtonian limit.
In this work we investigate the $f(R,T)$ brane in the scalar-tensor representation, where the solutions of the equations of motions for the source field engender topological defects with two-kink profiles. We use the first-order formalism to obtain analytical solutions for the source field of the brane and analyze how these solutions modify the structure of the auxiliary fields arising from the scalar-tensor representation of the theory. We found that when the model engenders two-kink solutions, the auxiliary fields are modified in order to allow for the appearance of an internal structure. In…
We study braneworld models in the presence of scalar field in a five-dimensional geometry with a single extra dimension of infinite extent, with gravity modified to include a function of the Ricci scalar. We develop a procedure that allows to obtain analytical solution for the braneworld configuration in a diversity of models, in the much harder case where the Ricci scalar is non constant quantity.
We construct a regular five-dimensional brane-world with localised gravity on a flat 3-brane. The matter content in the bulk is parametrised by an analog of a non-linear fluid with equation of state $p=γρ^λ$ between the `pressure' $p$ and the `density' $ρ$ dependent on the 5th dimension. For $γ$ negative and $λ>1$, the null energy condition is satisfied, and the geometry is free of singularities within finite distance from the brane, while the induced four-dimensional Planck mass is finite.
In a holographic braneworld universe a cosmological fluid occupies a 3+1 dimensional brane located at the boundary of the asymptotic AdS$_5$ bulk. The AdS/CFT correspondence and the second Randall-Sundrum model are combined to establish a relationship between the RSII braneworld cosmology and the boundary metric induced by the time dependent bulk geometry. Some physically interesting scenarios are discussed in the framework of the Friedmann Robertson Walker cosmology involving the RSII and holographic braneworlds.
We construct the setup of a five-dimensional braneworld scenario in teleparallel gravity. Both cases of Minkowski and Friedmann-Robertson-Walker branes embedded in Anti de Sitter bulk are studied and the effective 4-D action were studied. 4-dimensional local Lorentz invariance is found to be recovered in both cases. However, due to different junction conditions, the equations governing the 4-D cosmological evolution differ from general relativistic case. Using the results of Ref. [13], we consider a simple inflationary scenario in this setup. The inflation parameters are found to be modified c…
In this letter, we show that Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) gravity can be naturally realized in the Karch-Randall braneworld. Notably the role of the dilaton in JT gravity is played by the radion in a suitably orbifolded version of the setup. In the classical entanglement entropy calculation, there is an apparent degeneracy of Ryu-Takayanagi surfaces. We demonstrate how quantum fluctuations of the radion/dilaton resolves this would-be classical puzzle regarding entanglement wedge reconstruction.
Recently, it was argued that the spacetime dynamics can be understood by calculating the difference between the degrees of freedom on the boundary and in the bulk in a region of space. In this Letter, we apply this new idea to braneworld scenarios and extract the corresponding Friedmann equations of $(n-1)$-dimensional brane embedded in the $(n+1)$-dimensional bulk with any spacial curvature. We will also extend our study to the more general Gauss-Bonnet braneworld with curvature correction terms on the brane and in the bulk, and derive the dynamical equation in a nonflat Universe.
The existence of envelopes is studied for systems of differential equations in connection with the method of asymptotic splittings which allows to determine the singularity structure of the solutions. The result is applied to braneworlds consisting of a 3-brane in a five-dimensional bulk, in the presence of an analog of a bulk perfect fluid parametrizing a generic class of bulk matter. We find that all flat brane solutions suffer from a finite distance singularity contrary to previous claims. We then study the possibility of avoiding finite distance singularities by cutting the bulk and gluing…
We investigate the Ricci Dark Energy (RDE) in the braneworld models with a Gauss-Bonnet term in the Bulk. We solve the generalized Friedmann equation on the brane analytically and find that the universe will finally enter into a pure de Sitter spacetime in stead of the big rip that appears in the usual 4D Ricci dark energy model with parameter $α<1/2$. We also consider the Hubble horizon as the IR cutoff in holographic dark energy model and find it can not accelerate the universe as in the usual case without interacting.
A covariantly constant dynamical two-form is exploited on a $D_3$-brane to obtain its gravity dual action, governing an $S^3$ deformed $AdS_5$ black hole, in a type IIB string theory on $S^1\times K3$. We invoke the Kaluza-Klein compactification to work out the open/closed string duality. Interestingly, the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole is obtained on the "non-Reimannian" braneworld.
