The first exact interior solution to Einstein's field equations for a static and non-uniform braneworld star with local and non-local bulk terms is presented. It is shown that the bulk Weyl scalar ${\cal U}(r)$ is always negative inside the stellar distribution, in consequence it reduces both the effective density and the effective pressure. It is found that the anisotropy generated by bulk gravity effect has an acceptable physical behaviour inside the distribution. Using a Reissner-Nördstrom-like exterior solution, the effects of bulk gravity on pressure and density are found through matching conditions.
In the context of the Randall-Sundrum braneworld, the minimal geometric deformation approach, which has been successfully used to generate exact interior solutions to Einstein's field equations for static braneworld stars with local and non-local bulk terms, is used to obtain the braneworld version of the Schwarzschild's interior solution. Using this new solution, the behaviour of the Weyl functions is elucidated in terms of the compactness for different stellar distributions.
In this review, we summarize current understandings of black hole solutions in various braneworld models, including the Arkani-Hamed-Dimopoulos-Dvali model, the Randall-Sundrum (RS) models, the Karch-Randall (KR) model and the Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati model. After illustrating basic properties of each braneworld model, we introduce the bulk/brane correspondence in the RS and KR braneworld models, adding supporting evidence for it. We then summarize the studies on braneworld black hole solutions, which consist of constructing exact or approximate solutions and investigating the phase diagram of …
In the context of the Randall-Sundrum braneworld, an exhaustive and detailed description of the approach based in the minimal anisotropic consequence onto the brane, which has been successfully used to generate exact interior solutions to Einstein's field equations for static and non-uniform braneworld stars with local and non-local bulk terms, is carefully presented. It is shown that this approach allows the generation of a braneworld version for any known general relativistic solution.
This work deal with braneworld scenarios with generalized gravity. We investigate models where the potential of the scalar field is polynomial or nonpolynomial. We obtain exact and approximated solutions for the scalar field, warp factor and energy density, in the complex scenario with no restriction on the scalar curvature. In particular, we describe the case where the brane may split, engendering internal structure, with the splitting caused by the same parameter that controls deviation from standard gravity.
It is argued that the braneworld gravity under the Schwarzschild ansatz should obey three essential equations on the brane, and they are solved exactly. We express the general solution of the fundamental equations of the braneworld in power series of the brane normal coordinate. The power series are derived by solving three independent components of the bulk Einstein equation, and the coefficients are recursively determined in terms of five functions on the brane. The other components of the bulk Einstein equation are automatically satisfied, as far as the five on-brane functions obey three es…
We found cosmological solution of the 6D standing wave braneworld model generated by gravity coupled to a massless scalar phantom-like field. By obtaining a full exact solution of the model we found a novel dynamical mechanism in which the anisotropic nature of the primordial metric gives rise to expansion of three spatial brane dimensions and affectively reduction of other spatial directions. This dynamical mechanism can be relevant for dimensional reduction in string and other higher dimensional theories in the attempt of getting a 4D isotropic expanding space-time.
Extremely Compact Stars (ECS) contain trapped null geodesics. When such objects enter the evolution period admitting geodetical motion of neutrinos, certain part of neutrinos produced in their interior will be trapped influencing their neutrino luminosity and thermal evolution. We study neutrino trapping in the braneworld ECS, assuming uniform distribution of neutrino emissivity and massless neutrinos. We give the efficiency of the neutrino trapping effects in the framework of the simple model of the internal spacetime with uniform distribution of energy density, and external spacetime describ…
We construct exact solutions with the bubble of nothing in the Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati braneworld model. The configuration with a single brane can be constructed, unlike in the Randall-Sundrum braneworld model. The geometry on the single brane looks like the Einstein-Rosen bridge. We also discuss the junction of multibranes. Surprisingly, even without any artificial matter fields on the branes such as three-dimensional tension of the codimension-two objects, two branes can be connected in certain configurations. We investigate solutions of multibranes too. The presence of solutions may indicat…
We study gravitational redshift of photons and neutrinos radiated by the braneworld neutron or quark stars that are considered in the framework of the simple model of the internal spacetime with uniform distribution of energy density, and the external spacetime described by the Reissner-Nordström geometry characterized by the braneworld "tidal" charge $b$. For negative tidal charges, the external spacetime is of the black-hole type, while for positive tidal charges, the external spacetime can be of both black-hole and naked-singularity type. We consider also extremely compact stars allowing ex…
The braneworld model, in which our Universe is a three-brane embedded in a five-dimensional bulk, allows the existence of wormholes, without any violation of the energy conditions. A fundamental ingredient of traversable wormholes is the violation of the null energy condition (NEC). However, in the brane world models, the stress energy tensor confined on the brane, threading the wormhole, satisfies the NEC. In conventional general relativity, wormholes existing before inflation can be significantly enlarged by the expanding spacetime. We investigate the evolution of an inflating wormhole in th…
In this paper, we investigate the Einstein equations with cosmological constant for Randall-Sundrum (RS) and Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati (DGP) models to determine the warp functions in the context of warp product spacetimes. In RS model, it is shown that Einstein's equation in the bulk is reduced into the brane as a vacuum equation, having vacuum solution, which is not affected by the cosmological constant in the bulk. In DGP model, it is shown that the Einstein's equation in the bulk is reduced into the brane and along the extra dimension, where both equations are affected by the cosmological con…
We propose a novel approach to the problem of cosmological perturbations in a braneworld model with induced gravity, which leads to a closed system of equations on the brane. We focus on a spatially closed brane that bounds the interior four-ball of the bulk space. The background cosmological evolution on the brane is now described by the normal branch, and the boundary conditions in the bulk become the regularity conditions for the metric everywhere inside the four-ball. In this approach, there is no spatial infinity or any other boundary in the bulk space since the spatial section is compact…
