英文摘要:
We prove that for symmetric Markov processes of diffusion type admitting a "carré du champ", the Poincaré inequality is equivalent to the exponential convergence of the associated semi-group in one (resp. all) $Ł^p(μ)$ spaces for $p\in (1,+\infty)$. Part of this result extends to the stationary non necessarily symmetric situation.
We prove that every reversible Markov semigroup which satisfies a Poincaré inequality satisfies a matrix-valued Poincaré inequality for Hermitian $d\times d$ matrix valued functions, with the same Poincaré constant. This generalizes recent results [Aoun et al. 2019, Kathuria 2019] establishing such inequalities for specific semigroups and consequently yields new matrix concentration inequalities. The short proof follows from the spectral theory of Markov semigroup generators.

In this paper, we establish the super Poincaré inequality for the two-parameter Dirichlet process when the partition number of the state space is finite. Furthermore, if the partition number is infinite, the super Poincar'e inequality doesn't hold. To overcome the difficulty caused by the degenerency of the diffusion coefficient on the boundary of the domain, localization method and perturbation argument in [14] are effective.
Poincare inequality and exponential integrability of the hitting times of a Markov process

Sub-Gaussian heat kernel estimates are typical of fractal graphs. We show that sub-Gaussian estimates on graphs follow from a Poincaré inequality, capacity upper bound, and a slow volume growth condition. An important feature of this work is that we do not assume elliptic Harnack inequality, cutoff Sobolev inequality, or exit time bounds.
We present an improved version of the second order Gaussian Poincaré inequality, firstly introduced in Chatterjee (2009) and Nourdin, Peccati and Reinert (2009). These novel estimates are used in order to bound distributional distances between functionals of Gaussian fields and normal random variables. Several applications are developed, including quantitative CLTs for non-linear functionals of stationary Gaussian fields related to the Breuer-Major theorem, improving previous findings in the literature and obtaining presumably optimal rates of convergence.
Firstly, we derive in dimension one a new covariance inequality of $L_{1}-L_{\infty}$ type that characterizes the isoperimetric constant as the best constant achieving the inequality. Secondly, we generalize our result to $L_{p}-L_{q}$ bounds for the covariance. Consequently, we recover Cheeger's inequality without using the co-area formula. We also prove a generalized weighted Hardy type inequality that is needed to derive our covariance inequalities and that is of independent interest. Finally, we explore some consequences of our covariance inequalities for $L_{p}$-Poincaré inequalities and …
It is known that the Poincaré inequality is equivalent to the quadratic transportation-variance inequality (namely $W_2^2(fμ,μ) \leqslant C_V \mathrm{Var}_μ(f)$), see Jourdain \cite{Jourdain} and most recently Ledoux \cite{Ledoux18}. We give two alternative proofs to this fact. In particular, we achieve a smaller $C_V$ than before, which equals the double of Poincaré constant. Applying the same argument leads to more characterizations of the Poincaré inequality. Our method also yields a by-product as the equivalence between the logarithmic Sobolev inequality and strict contraction of heat flow…
This paper presents an elementary proof of stochastic stability of a discrete-time reversible Markov chain starting from a Foster-Lyapunov drift condition. Besides its relative simplicity, there are two salient features of the proof: (i) it relies entirely on functional-analytic non-probabilistic arguments; and (ii) it makes explicit the connection between a Foster-Lyapunov function and Poincaré inequality. The proof is used to derive an explicit bound for the spectral gap. An extension to the non-reversible case is also presented.
In this paper, the Harnack inequalities and super-Poincaré inequality for generalized CIR model are obtained. Since the noise is degenerate, the intrinsic metric has been introduced to construct the coupling by change of measure. By using isopermetric constant, the optimal estimate of the rate function in the super Poincaré inequality for the associated Dirichlet form is also obtained.
This paper is concerned with the problem of nonlinear filter stability of ergodic Markov processes. The main contribution is the conditional Poincaré inequality (PI), which is shown to yield filter stability. The proof is based upon a recently discovered duality which is used to transform the nonlinear filtering problem into a stochastic optimal control problem for a backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE). Based on these dual formalisms, a comparison is drawn between the stochastic stability of a Markov process and the filter stability. The latter relies on the conditional PI describ…
This paper deduces exponential matrix concentration from a Poincaré inequality via a short, conceptual argument. Among other examples, this theory applies to matrix-valued functions of a uniformly log-concave random vector. The proof relies on the subadditivity of Poincaré inequalities and a chain rule inequality for the trace of the matrix Dirichlet form. It also uses a symmetrization technique to avoid difficulties associated with a direct extension of the classic scalar argument.
The aim of this paper is to establish two fundamental measure-metric properties of particular random geometric graphs. We consider $\varepsilon$-neighborhood graphs whose vertices are drawn independently and identically distributed from a common distribution defined on a regular submanifold of $\mathbb{R}^K$. We show that a volume doubling condition (VD) and local Poincaré inequality (LPI) hold for the random geometric graph (with high probability, and uniformly over all shortest path distance balls in a certain radius range) under suitable regularity conditions of the underlying submanifold a…
We establish a Shearer-type inequality for the Poincaré constant, showing that the Poincaré constant corresponding to the convolution of a collection of measures can be nontrivially controlled by the Poincaré constants corresponding to convolutions of subsets of measures. This implies, for example, that the Poincaré constant is non-increasing along the central limit theorem. We also establish a dimension-free stability estimate for subadditivity of the Poincaré constant on convolutions which uniformly improves an earlier one-dimensional estimate of a similar nature by Johnson (2004). As a bypr…
In this paper, a simplified second-order Gaussian Poincaré inequality for normal approximation of functionals over infinitely many Rademacher random variables is derived. It is based on a new bound for the Kolmogorov distance between a general Rademacher functional and a Gaussian random variable, which is established by means of the discrete Malliavin-Stein method and is of independent interest. As an application, the number of vertices with prescribed degree and the subgraph counting statistic in the Erdös-Rényi random graph are discussed. The number of vertices of fixed degree is also studie…
We improve the constant $\fracπ{2}$ in $L^1$-Poincaré inequality on Hamming cube. For Gaussian space the sharp constant in $L^1$ inequality is known, and it is $\sqrt{\fracπ{2}}$. For Hamming cube the sharp constant is not known, and $\sqrt{\fracπ{2}}$ gives an estimate from below for this sharp constant. On the other hand, L. Ben Efraim and F. Lust-Piquard have shown an estimate from above: $C_1\le \fracπ{2}$. There are at least two other independent proofs of the same estimate from above (we write down them in this note). Since those proofs are very different from the proof of Ben Efraim and…
