We have achieved the few-electron regime in InAs nanowire double quantum dots. Spin blockade is observed for the first two half-filled orbitals, where the transport cycle is interrupted by forbidden transitions between triplet and singlet states. Partial lifting of spin blockade is explained by spin-orbit and hyperfine mechanisms that enable triplet to singlet transitions. The measurements over a wide range of interdot coupling and tunneling rates to the leads are well reproduced by a simple transport model. This allows us to separate and quantify the contributions of the spin-orbit and hyperfine interactions.
We report on experimental detection of the spin-orbit interaction field in an InAs nanowire double quantum dot device. In the spin blockade regime, leakage current through the double quantum dot is measured and is used to extract the effects of spin-orbit interaction and hyperfine interaction on spin state mixing. At finite magnetic fields, the leakage current arising from the hyperfine interaction is suppressed and the spin-orbit interaction dominates spin state mixing. We observe dependence of the leakage current on the applied magnetic field direction and determine the direction of the spin…
In spin-based architectures of quantum devices, the hyperfine interaction between the electron spin qubit and the nuclear spin environment remains one of the main sources of decoherence. This paper provides a short review of the current advances in the theoretical description of the qubit decoherence dynamics. Next, we study the qubit-environment entanglement using negativity as its measure. For an initial maximally mixed state of the environment, we study negativity dynamics as a function of environment size, changing the numbers of environmental nuclei and the total spin of the nuclei. Furth…
We study the spin dynamics and spin noise in a double quantum dot taking into account the interplay between hopping, exchange interaction and the hyperfine interaction. At short time scales the spin relaxation is governed by the spin dephasing in the random nuclear fields. At long time scales the spin polarization obeys universal power law $1/t$ independent of the relation between all the parameters of the system. This effect is related to the competition between the spin blockade effect and the hyperfine interaction. The spin noise spectrum of the system universally diverges as $\ln(1/ω)$ at …
Phase Transitions in Dissipative Quantum Transport and Mesoscopic Nuclear Spin Pumping
当竞争输运通道的矩阵元素的比例变化时,量子系统的耗散动力学中会发生拓扑相变。在这里,我们建立了一类非厄米量子行走问题的这种行为之间的关系[M。S.鲁弗斯和L. S. Levitov,Phys. Rev. Lett.
The interplay of dynamical nuclear polarization (DNP) and leakage current through a double quantum dot in the spin-blockade regime is analyzed. A finite DNP is built up due to a competition between hyperfine (HF) spin-flip transitions and another inelastic escape mechanism from the triplets, which block transport. We focus on the temperature dependence of the DNP for zero energy-detuning (i.e. equal electrostatic energy of one electron in each dot and a singlet in the right dot). Our main result is the existence of a transition temperature, below which the DNP is bistable, so a hysteretic leak…
Pauli spin blockade (PSB) has long been an important tool for spin read-out in double quantum dot (DQD) systems with interdot tunneling $t$. In this paper we show that the blockade is lifted if the two dots experience distinct effective magnetic fields caused by site-dependent g-tensors $g_L$ and $g_R$ for the left and right dot, and that this effect can be more pronounced than the leakage current due to the spin-orbit interaction (SOI) via spin-flip tunneling and the hyperfine interaction (HFI) of the electron spin with the host nuclear spins. Using analytical results obtained in special para…
The exciton recombination and spin dynamics in (In,Al)As/AlAs quantum dots (QDs) with indirect band gap and type-I band alignment are studied. The negligible (less than $0.2~μ$eV) value of the anisotropic exchange interaction in these QDs prevents a mixing of the excitonic basis states with pure spin and allows for the formation of spin polarized bright excitons for quasi-resonant circularly polarized excitation. In a longitudinal magnetic field, the recombination and spin dynamics of the excitons are controlled by the hyperfine interaction between the electron and nuclear spins. A QD blockade…
Hole spins confined in semiconductor quantum dot systems have gained considerable interest for their strong spin-orbit interactions (SOIs) and relatively weak hyperfine interactions. Here we experimentally demonstrate a tunable SOI in a double quantum dot in a Germanium (Ge) hut wire (HW), which could help enable fast all-electric spin manipulations while suppressing unwanted decoherence. Specifically, we measure the transport spectra in the Pauli spin blockade regime in the double quantum dot device.By adjusting the interdot tunnel coupling, we obtain an electric field tuned spin-orbit length…
Most proof-of-principle experiments for spin qubits have been performed using GaAs-based quantum dots because of the excellent control they offer over tunneling barriers and the orbital and spin degrees of freedom. Here, we present the first realization of high-quality single and double quantum dots hosted in an InAs two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG), demonstrating accurate control down to the few-electron regime, where we observe a clear Kondo effect and singlet-triplet spin blockade. We measure an electronic $g$-factor of $16$ and a typical magnitude of the random hyperfine fields on the d…
