Let $X_1$ and $X_2$ be deformation equivalent projective hyperkähler manifolds. We prove that the André motive of $X_1$ is abelian if and only if the André motive of $X_2$ is abelian. Applying this to manifolds of $\mbox{K3}^{[n]}$, generalized Kummer and OG6 deformation types, we deduce that their André motives are abelian. As a consequence, we prove that all Hodge classes in arbitrary degree on such manifolds are absolute. We discuss applications to the Mumford-Tate conjecture, showing in particular that it holds for even degree cohomology of such manifolds.

We investigate how the motive of hyper-Kähler varieties is controlled by weight-2 (or surface-like) motives via tensor operations. In the first part, we study the Voevodsky motive of singular moduli spaces of semistable sheaves on K3 and abelian surfaces as well as the Chow motive of their crepant resolutions, when they exist. We show that these motives are in the tensor subcategory generated by the motive of the surface, provided that a crepant resolution exists. This note is about the Chow groups of a certain family of smooth cubic fourfolds. This family is characterized by the property that each cubic fourfold $X$ in the family has an involution such that the induced involution on the Fano variety $F$ of lines in $X$ is symplectic and has a $K3$ surface $S$ in the fixed locus. We consider a $10$-dimensional family of Lehn-Lehn-Sorger-van Straten hyperkähler eightfolds which have a non-symplectic automorphism of order $3$. Using the theory of finite-dimensional motives, we show that the action of this automorphism on the Chow group of $0$-cycles is as predicted by the Bloch-Beilinson conjectures. We prove a similar statement for the anti-symplectic involution on varieties in this family. This has interesting consequences for the intersection product in the Chow ring of these varieties.
We study symplectic varieties defined over fields of positive characteristics, especially the supersingular ones, generalizing the theory of supersingular K3 surfaces.
