Using a method mixing Mellin-Barnes representation and Borel resummation we show how to obtain hyperasymptotic expansions from the (divergent) formal power series which follow from the perturbative evaluation of arbitrary "$N$-point" functions for the simple case of zero-dimensional $ϕ^4$ field theory. This hyperasymptotic improvement appears from an iterative procedure, based on inverse factorial expansions, and gives birth to interwoven non-perturbative partial sums whose coefficients are related to the perturbative ones by an interesting resurgence phenomenon. It is a non-perturbative improvement in the sense that, for some optimal truncations of the partial sums, the remainder at a given hyperasymptotic level is exponentially suppressed compared to the remainder at the preceding hyperasymptotic level. The Mellin-Barnes representation allows our results to be automatically valid for a wide range of the phase of the complex coupling constant, including Stokes lines. A numerical analysis is performed to emphasize the improved accuracy that this method allows to reach compared to the usual perturbative approach, and the importance of hyperasymptotic optimal truncation schemes.
We solve exactly the scalar box integral using the Mellin-Barnes representation. Firstly we recognize the hypergeometric functions resumming the series coming from the scalar integrals, then we perform an analytic continuation before applying the Laurent expansion in^2 = (d !' 4)=2 of the result.
A number of irreducible master integrals for L-loop sunrise-type and bubble Feynman diagrams with generic values of masses and external momenta are explicitly evaluated via Mellin-Barnes representation.
We argue that the Mellin-Barnes representations of Feynman diagrams can be used for obtaining linear systems of homogeneous differential equations for the original Feynman diagrams with arbitrary powers of propagators without recourse to the integration-by-parts technique. These systems of differential equations can be used (i) for the differential reductions to sets of basic functions and (ii) for counting the numbers of master integrals.
Multiple Mellin-Barnes integrals are often used for perturbative calculations in particle physics. In this context, the evaluation of such objects may be performed through residues calculations which lead to their expression as multiple series in powers and logarithms of the parameters involved in the problem under consideration. However, in most of the cases, several series representations exist for a given integral. They converge in different regions of values of the parameters, and it is not obvious to obtain them. For twofold integrals we present a method which allows to derive straightfor…
We show how the conic hull method, recently developed for the analytic and non-iterative evaluation of multifold Mellin-Barnes (MB) integrals, can be extended to the case where these integrals have straight contours of integration parallel to the imaginary axes in the complex planes of the integration variables. MB integrals of this class appear, for instance, when one computes the $ε$-expansion of dimensionally regularized Feynman integrals, as a result of the application of one of the two main strategies (called A and B in the literature) used to resolve the singularities in $ε$ of MB repres…
We discuss the Mellin-Barnes representation of complex multidimensional integrals. Experiments frontiered by the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider at CERN and future collider projects demand the development of computational methods to achieve the theoretical precision required by experimental setups. In this regard, performing higher-order calculations in perturbative quantum field theory is of paramount importance. The Mellin-Barnes integrals technique has been successfully applied to the analytic and numerical analysis of integrals connected with virtual and real higher-order perturbativ…
We invoke integrals of Mellin-Barnes type to analytically continue the Gopakumar-Vafa resummation of the topological string free energy in the string coupling constant, leading to additional non-perturbative terms. We also discuss in a similar manner the refined and Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit version thereof. The derivation is straight-forward and essentially boils down to taking residue. This allows us to confirm some related conjectures in the literature at tree-level.
Mellin-Barnes (MB) integrals are well-known objects appearing in many branches of mathematics and physics, ranging from hypergeometric functions theory to quantum field theory, solid state physics, asymptotic theory, etc. Although MB integrals have been studied for more than one century, until now there is no systematic computational technique of the multiple series representations of $N$-fold MB integrals for $N>2$. Relying on a simple geometrical analysis based on conic hulls, we show here a solution to this important problem. Our method can be applied to resonant (i.e logarithmic) and nonre…
We observe a property of orthogonality of the Mellin-Barnes transformation of the triangle one-loop diagrams, which follows from our previous papers [JHEP {\bf 0808} (2008) 106, JHEP {\bf 1003} (2010) 051, JMP {\bf 51} (2010) 052304]. In those papers it has been established that Usyukina-Davydychev functions are invariant with respect to Fourier transformation. This has been proved at the level of graphs and also via the Mellin-Barnes transformation. We partially apply to one-loop massless scalar diagram the same trick in which the Mellin-Barnes transformation was involved and obtain the prope…
This paper is devoted to the calculation by Mellin-Barnes transform of a especial class of integrals. It contains double integrals in the position space in d = 4-2e dimensions, where e is parameter of dimensional regularization. These integrals contribute to the effective action of the N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. The integrand is a fraction in which the numerator is a logarithm of ratio of spacetime intervals, and the denominator is the product of powers of spacetime intervals. According to the method developed in the previous papers, in order to make use of the uniqueness techniqu…

The contributions to the anomalous magnetic moment of the lepton $L$ ($L=e\ , μ$ or $τ$) generated by a specific class of QED diagrams are evaluated analytically up to the eighth order of the electromagnetic coupling constant. The considered class of the Feynman diagrams involves the vacuum polarization insertions into the electromagnetic vertex of the lepton $L$ up to three closed lepton loops. The corresponding analytical expressions are obtained as functions of the mass ratios $r=m_l/m_L$ in the whole region $0 < r < \infty$. Our consideration is based on a combined use of the dispersion re…
Mellin-Barnes (MB) representations have become a widely used tool for the evaluation of Feynman loop integrals appearing in perturbative calculations of quantum field theory. Some of the MB integrals may be solved analytically in closed form with the help of the two Barnes lemmas which have been known in mathematics already for one century. The original proofs of these lemmas solve the integrals by taking infinite series of residues and summing these up via hypergeometric functions. This paper presents new, elegant proofs for the Barnes lemmas which only rely on the well-known basic identity o…
We consider Mellin-Barnes transform of triangle ladder-like scalar diagram in d=4 dimensions. It is shown how the multi-fold MB transform of the momentum integral corresponding to an arbitrary number of rungs is reduced to the two-fold MB transform. For this purpose we use Belokurov-Usyukina reduction method for four-dimensional scalar integrals in the position space. The result is represented in terms of Euler psi-function and its derivatives. We derive new formulas for the MB two-fold integration in complex planes of two complex variables. We demonstrate that these formulas solve Bethe-Salpe…
The sixth order QED radiative corrections to lepton anomalies due to the fourth order vacuum polarization insertions within the Mellin-Barnes representation
We address the problem of evaluation of multiloop Feynman integrals by means of their Mellin-Barnes representation. After a brief overview of available capabilities though open source toolkits and their application in various circumstances, we introduce a new code MBcreate which allows one to automatically deduce a concise Mellin-Barnes representation for a given parametric integral. A thorough discussion of its implementation and use is provided.
In our previous paper [Nucl.Phys. B 870 (2013) 243], we showed that multi-fold Mellin-Barnes (MB) transforms of Usyukina-Davydychev (UD) functions may be reduced to two-fold MB transforms. The MB transforms were written there as polynomials of logarithms of ratios of squares of the external momenta with certain coefficients. We also showed that these coefficients have a combinatoric origin. In this paper, we present an explicit formula for these coefficients. The procedure of recovering the coefficients is based on taking the double-uniform limit in certain series of smooth functions of two va…
In this paper we consider Witten diagrams at one loop in AdS space for scalar $ϕ^3+ϕ^4$ theory. After using Schwinger parametrization to trivialize the space-time loop integration, we extract the Mellin-Barnes representation for the one-loop corrections to the four-particle scattering up to an integration over the Schwinger parameters corresponding to the propagators of the internal particles running into the loop. We then discuss an approach to deal with those integrals.
Gustafson's integrals are multidimensional generalizations of the classical Mellin-Barnes integrals. We show that some of these integrals arise from relations between matrix elements in Sklyanin's representation of Separated Variables in spin chain models. We also present several new integrals.
We present a simple general relation between tree-level exchanges in AdS and dS. This relation allows to directly import techniques and results for AdS Witten diagrams, both in position and momentum space, to boundary correlation functions in dS. In this work we apply this relation to define Mellin amplitudes and a spectral representation for exchanges in dS. We also derive the conformal block decomposition of a dS exchange, both in the direct and crossed channels, from their AdS counterparts. The relation between AdS and dS exchanges itself is derived using a recently introduced Mellin-Barnes…
We show that both perturbative and non-perturbative parts of universal partition functions of Chern-Simons theory on 3d sphere are ratios of four over four Barnes' quadruple gamma functions with arguments given by linear combinations of universal parameters. Since nonperturbative part of partition function is essentially a universal compact simple Lie group's volume, latter appears to be expressed through quadruple Barnes' functions, also. For SU(N) values of parameters recurrent relations on Barnes' functions give the proof of level-rank duality of complete partition function, thus extending …
It was observed recently that the multidimensional Mellin--Barnes integrals (Gustafson's integrals) arise naturally in studies of the $SL(2,R)$ spin chain models. We extend this analysis to the noncompact $SL(2,\mathbb{C})$ spin magnets and obtain integrals which generalize Gustafson's integrals to the complex case.
We explore the Mellin representation of correlation functions in conformal field theories in the weak coupling regime. We provide a complete proof for a set of Feynman rules to write the Mellin amplitude for a general tree level Feynman diagram involving only scalar operators. We find a factorised form involving beta functions associated to the propagators, similar to tree level Feynman rules in momentum space for ordinary QFTs. We also briefly consider the case where a generic scalar perturbation of the free CFT breaks conformal invariance. Mellin space still has some utility and one can cons…
We derive a Mellin-Barnes integral representation for solution to generalized (parabolic) quantum Toda lattice introduced in \cite{GLO}, which presumably describes the $(S^1\times U_N)$-equivariant Gromov-Witten invariants of Grassmann variety.
We investigate analytic properties of loop-level perturbative dynamics in pure AdS, with the scalar effective theories with non-derivative couplings as a prototype. Explicit computations reveal certain (perhaps unexpected) simplicity regarding the pole structure of the results, in both the Mellin amplitude and a closely related object that we call Mellin pre-amplitude. Correspondingly we propose a pair of conjectures for arbitrary diagrams at all loops, based on non-trivial evidence up to two loops (and higher loops in a special class of diagrams). We also inspect the structure of residues at …
We argue that nonperturbative CFT correlation functions admit a Mellin amplitude representation. Perturbative Mellin representation readily follows. We discuss the main properties of nonperturbative CFT Mellin amplitudes: subtractions, analyticity, unitarity, Polyakov conditions and polynomial boundedness at infinity. Mellin amplitudes are particularly simple for large N CFTs and 2D rational CFTs. We discuss these examples to illustrate our general discussion. We consider subtracted dispersion relations for Mellin amplitudes and use them to derive bootstrap bounds on CFTs. We combine crossing,…
