We have calculated the decay amplitude for the process $K_{S}$ $\to$ $γγ$ at one loop order in chiral perturbation theory. As a new improvement we have included the weak mass term which is only relevant for processes with external fields in the final state. This term was ignored in earlier publications for this decay. We find that the inclusion of $G_{8}^{\prime}$ brings the theoretical decay rate into a good agreement with experiment.
A complete analytical reduction of general one-loop Feynman integrals with five legs for tensors up to rank R=3 and six legs for tensors up to rank 4 is reviewed. An elegant formalism with extensive use of signed minors was developed for the cancellation of leading inverse Gram determinants. The resulting compact formulae allow both for a study of analytical properties and for efficient numerical programming. Here some special numerical examples are presented.
In the simplest potentially realistic renormalizable variants of the flipped $SU(5)$ unified model the right-handed neutrino masses are conveniently generated by means of the Witten's two-loop mechanism. As a consequence, the compactness of the underlying scalar sector provides strong correlations between the low-energy flavor observables such as neutrino masses and mixing and the flavor structure of the fermionic currents governing the baryon and lepton number violating nucleon decays. In this study, the associated two-loop Feynman integrals are fully evaluated and, subsequently, are used to …
We re-examine the hadronic loop effects to the masses of $D^*_0$ and $D^*_{s0}$ calculated in quark models in the framework of heavy meson chiral perturbation theory (HMCHPT). The inaccuracy in the choice of the argument of the chiral loop functions in previous works is corrected. Our calculations consider the full one-loop corrections that appear at leading order in the chiral expansion of the effective Lagrangian. Unlike previous approaches, ours leads to satisfactory results in explaining the low mass of the observed scalar charm states reported by the Particle Data Group (PDG). It is found…
In view of ongoing experimental activities to determine the pion polarizabilities, we have started to recalculate the available two-loop expressions in the framework of chiral perturbation theory, because they have never been checked before. We make use of the chiral Lagrangian at order p^6 now available, and of improved techniques to evaluate the two-loop diagrams. Here, we present the result for the neutral pions. The cross section for the reaction gamma+gamma->pi0+pi0 agrees with the earlier calculation within a fraction of a percent. We present analytic results for the dipole and quadrupol…
In this paper, we study systematically scalar one-loop two-, three-, and four-point Feynman integrals with complex internal masses. Our analytic results presented in this report are valid for both real and complex internal masses. The calculations are then implemented into a {\tt Mathematica} (version $9$) package and {\tt FORTRAN} program. Our program is cross-checked numerically with {\tt LoopTools} (version $2.14$) in real as well as complex internal masses. We find a perfect agreement between our results and {\tt LoopTools} for all cases. Additionally, this work is applied for evaluating s…
One-loop contributions to the decay $H\rightarrow ν_l\barν_lγ$ with $l=e, μ, τ$ within standard model framework are revisited in this paper. We derive two representations for the form factors in this calculation. As a result, the computations are not only checked numerically by verifying the ultraviolet finiteness of the results but also confirming the ward identity of the amplitude. We find that the results are good stability with varying ultraviolet cutoff parameters as well as satisfy the ward identity. In phenomenological results, all the physical results are examined with the present inpu…
The contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment from the fermion triangle loop diagrams connected to the muon line by a photon and a $Z$ boson is reanalyzed in the unitary gauge. With use of the anomalous axial-vector Ward identity, it is shown that the calculation in the unitary gauge exactly coincides with the one in the 't Hooft-Feynman gauge. The part which arises from the ordinary axial-vector Ward identity corresponds to the contribution of the neutral Goldstone boson. For the top-quark contribution, the one-parameter integral form is obtained up to the order of $m_μ^2/m_Z^2$. The…
The one-loop calculation of the amplitude for the Higgs decay H-->γγ due to virtual W's in the unitary gauge is presented. As the Higgs does not directly couple to the massless photons, the one-loop amplitude is finite. The calculation is performed in a straightforward way, without encountering divergences. In particular, artifacts like dimensional regularization are avoided. This is achieved by judiciously routing the external momenta through the loop and by combining the integrands of the amplitudes before carrying out the integration over the loop momentum. The present result satisfies the …
We consider the separate effects on four fermion processes, in the TeV energy range, produced at one loop by Sudakov logarithms of universal and not universal kind, working in the 't Hooft xi=1 gauge. Summing the various vertex and box contributions allows to isolate two quite different terms. The first one is a combination of vertex and box quadratic and linear logarithms that are partially universal and partially not universal and independent of the scattering angle theta. The second one is theta-dependent, not universal, linearly logarithmic and only produced by weak boxes. We show that for …
We discuss aspects of our recent derivation of the gluon Regge trajectory at two loop from Lipatov's high energy effective action. We show how the gluon Regge trajectory can be rigorously defined through renormalization of the high energy divergence of the reggeized gluon propagator. We furthermore provide some details on the determination of the two-loop reggeized gluon self-energy.
We discuss the ${\cal O}(α_s)$ supersymmetric QCD corrections to neutralino-stop coannihilation into a top quark and a gluon in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). This particular channel can be numerically important in wide ranges of the MSSM parameter space with rather light stops. We discuss technical details such as the renormalization scheme and the phase-space slicing method with two cutoffs. We also comment on improvements with respect to earlier works on the given process. Further, we study for the first time the phenomenologically very interesting interplay of neutralino…
We revisit the proof of equivalence of one loop expressions for fermion self-energy and vertex correction in light-front QED and Covariant QED at the Feynman diagram level and generalize, to all components, the proof of equivalence for the one loop vertex correction diagram which was presented earlier by us only for the $+$ component of $Λ^μ$. We demonstrate, in the general case also, that the equivalence cannot be established without the third term in the three-term photon propagator in light cone gauge.
I calculate the 1-loop self-energy of the lowest Landau level an electron of mass m in a strong, constant and uniform external magnetic field B, beyond its always used truncation at (ln L)^2, L=|e|B/m^2. This is achieved by evaluating the integral deduced in 1953 by Demeur and incompletely calculated in 1969 by Jancovici, which I recover from Schwinger's techniques of calculation. It yields δm \simeq (α*m/(4*π))*[(\ln L -γ_E -3/2)^2 -9/4 +π/(β-1) + π^2/6 +π*Γ[1-β]/L^{β-1} +(1/L)*(π/(2-β)-5) +{\cal O}(1/L^{>= 2})] with β\approx 1.175 for 75 =< L =< 10000. . The (\ln L)^2 truncation exceeds the …
We study the masses of the low-lying charmed mesons within the framework of heavy-hadron chiral perturbation theory. We work to third order in the chiral expansion, where meson loops contribute. In contrast to previous approaches, we use physical meson masses in evaluating these loops. This ensures that their imaginary parts are consistent with the observed widths of the D-mesons. The lowest odd- and even-parity, strange and nonstrange mesons provide enough constraints to determine only certain linear combinations of the low-energy constants in the effective Lagrangian. We comment on how latti…
We reexamine critically the chiral expansion for the baryon magnetic moments including the contributions from loops which involve intermediate octet and decuplet baryons. We find that, contrary to some claims, the nonanalytic loop contributions of orders $m_s^{1/2}$ and $m_s ln m_s$ are of the same general size because of large coupling factors for the latter, and that the decuplet contributions are as large as the octet contributions and must be included in a consistent calculation. There is no clear evidence of the convergence of the chiral series. The adequacy of the theory will not be esta…
We provide an exact analytical calculation at the two-loop level in the abelian limit of the leading power correction for the C parameter in e+e- annihilation. We compare our results to the numerical value obtained employing the soft approximation, the abelian part of the Milan factor. We demonstrate that a simple proportionality holds between the leading power corrections to the C parameter and to the longitudinal cross section in the soft region, and we verify that this proportionality holds for the full two-loop abelian contribution computed here. We comment on the possibility of extending …
Matching conditions relate couplings to particle masses. We discuss the importance of one-loop matching conditions in Higgs and top-quark sector as well as the choice of the matching scale. We argue for matching scales $μ_{0,t} \simeq m_t$ and $μ_{0,H} \simeq max[ m_t, M_H ]$. Using these results, the two-loop Higgs mass upper bounds are reanalyzed. Previous results for $Λ\approx$ few TeV are found to be too stringent. For $Λ=10^{19}$ GeV we find $M_H < 180 \pm 4\pm 5$ GeV, the first error indicating the theoretical uncertainty, the second error reflecting the experimental uncertainty due to $…
We discuss the systematic decomposition of all dimension-7 (d=7) lepton number violating operators. These d=7 operators produce momentum enhanced contributions to the long-range part of the neutrinoless double beta decay amplitude and thus are severely constrained by existing half-live limits. In our list of possible models one can find contributions to the long-range amplitude discussed previously in the literature, such as the left-right symmetric model or scalar leptoquarks, as well as some new models not considered before. The d=7 operators generate Majorana neutrino mass terms either at t…
Radiative corrections to neutrino deep inelastic scattering are revisited. One-loop electroweak corrections are re-calculated within the automatic SANC system. Terms with mass singularities are treated including higher order leading logarithmic corrections. Scheme dependence of corrections due to weak interactions is investigated. The results are implemented into the data analysis of the NOMAD experiment. The present theoretical accuracy in description of the process is discussed.
As is well known, the smallest neutrino mass turns out to be vanishing in the minimal seesaw model, since the effective neutrino mass matrix $M^{}_ν$ is of rank two due to the fact that only two heavy right-handed neutrinos are introduced. In this paper, we point out that the one-loop matching condition for the effective dimension-five neutrino mass operator can make an important contribution to the smallest neutrino mass. By using the available one-loop matching condition and two-loop renormalization group equations in the supersymmetric version of the minimal seesaw model, we explicitly calc…
In this note we revisit the SUSY effects in $R_b$ under current experimental constraints including the LHC Higgs data, the $B$-physics measurements, the dark matter relic density and direct detection limits, as well as the precision electroweak data. We first perform a scan to figure out the currently allowed parameter space and then display the SUSY effects in $R_b$. We find that although the SUSY parameter space has been severely restrained by current experimental data, both the general MSSM and the natural-SUSY scenario can still alter $R_b$ with a magnitude sizable enough to be observed at…
We present an alternative way to calculate the screening of the static potential between two charges in (non)abelian gauge theories at high temperatures. Instead of a loop expansion of a gauge boson self-energy, we evaluate the energy shift of the vacuum to order e^2 after applying an external static magnetic field and extract a temperature- and momentum-dependent dielectric permittivity. The Hard Thermal Loop (HTL) gluon and photon Debye masses are recovered from the lowest lying Landau levels of the perturbed vacuum. In QED, the complete calculation exhibits an interesting cancellation of te…
We study the complete one-loop contributions to the chromagnetic dipole moment $Δκ$ of the top quark in the Standard Model, two Higgs doublet models, topcolor assited technicolor models (TC2), 331 models and extended models with a single extra dimension. We find that the SM predicts $Δκ= - 0.056$ and that the predictions of the other models are also consitent with the constraints imposed on $Δκ$ by low-energy precision measurements.
We first review the current algebra - PCAC approach to nonleptonic octet baryon 14 weak decay B (\to) (B^{\prime})(π) amplitudes. The needed four parameters are independently determined by (Ω\to Ξπ),(ΛK) and (Ξ^{-}\to Σ^{-}γ) weak decays in dispersion theory tree order. We also summarize the recent chiral perturbation theory (ChPT) version of the eight independent B (\to) (B^{\prime}π) weak (ΔI) = 1/2 amplitudes containing considerably more than eight low-energy weak constants in one-loop order.
We reexamine genus one super-Green functions with general boundary conditions twisted by $(α, β)$ for $(σ, τ)$ directions in the eigenmode expansion and derive expressions as infinite series of hypergeometric functions. Using these, we compute one-loop superstring amplitudes with non-maximal supersymmetry, taking an example of massless vector emissions of open string type I ${\cal Z}_2$ orbifold.
Radiative corrections to the charged current Drell-Yan processes are revisited. Complete one-loop electroweak corrections are calculated within the automatic SANC system. Electroweak scheme dependence and the choice of the factorization scale are discussed. Comparisons with earlier calculations are presented.
We have recalculated the Mikaelian and Smith radiative corrections to the Dalitz decay $π^0\to e^+e^-γ$ beyond the soft-photon approximation, i.e. over the whole range of the Dalitz plot and with no restrictions on the radiative photon. In contrast to the previous calculations, we did not neglect the terms of order higher than $\mathcal{O}(m^2)$ and also included the one-photon-irreducible contribution at one-loop level and the virtual muon loop contribution. The results can then be used also for heavier particles in the final state.
A few years ago, it had been shown that effects stemming from renormalisation group running can be quite large in the scotogenic model, where neutrinos obtain their mass only via a 1-loop diagram (or, more generally, in many models in which the light neutrino mass is generated via quantum corrections at loop-level). We present a new computation of the renormalisation group equations (RGEs) for the scotogenic model, thereby updating previous results. We discuss the matching in detail, in particular in what regards the different mass spectra possible for the new particles involved. We furthermor…
Electroweak one-loop radiative corrections to the process e^+ e^- -> t tbar are revisited. Two groups from Karlsruhe and Bielefeld/Zeuthen performed independent calculations of both (virtual and soft) QED contributions and weak virtual corrections. For the angular distribution an agreement of at least eight digits for the weak corrections and of at least seven digits for additional photonic corrections is established.
We present an improved calculation of $B\to$ light vector form factors from light-cone sum rules, including one-loop radiative corrections to twist-2 and twist-3 contributions, and leading order twist-4 corrections. The total theoretical uncertainty of our results at zero momentum transfer is typically 10% and can be improved, at least in part, by reducing the uncertainty of hadronic input parameters. We present our results in a way which details the dependence of the form factors on these parameters and facilitates the incorporation of future updates of their values from e.g. lattice calculat…
The one-loop QED and electroweak radiative corrections to neutrino-deuteron scattering induced by the neutral current are reexamined, paying a particular attention to the constant term which has never been treated properly in literature. This problem is closely related to the definition of the axial-vector coupling constant $g_{A}$ and requires thorough calculations of the constant terms in the charged current processes, too. We find that the radiative corrections to the neutral current induced reactions amount to 1.7 (1.5) per cent enhancement, if the Higgs boson mass is $m_{H}=1.5 \: m_{Z} (…
We present a calculation of the width for $χ_{cJ}\rightarrow e^{+}e^{-}$ decay. The amplitude of the process is computed within the NRQCD framework. The leading-order contribution is described by two terms associated with the two different integration domains in the electromagnetic loop describing two-photon annihilation of the heavy quark-antiquark pair. The corresponding operators are defined in the framework of NRQCD. The matrix element of one of these operators describes a configuration with an ultrasoft photon and can be associated with the higher Fock state of the heavy meson. In order t…

We point out that in the minimal supersymmetric standard model terms from the mixing of Higgs and Goldstone bosons which are connected to the renormalization of tan(beta) via Slavnov-Taylor identities give rise to corrections that do not vanish in the limit where the supersymmetric particles are much heavier than the Higgs bosons. These additional contributions have important phenomenological implications as they can lead to potentially large supersymmetric effects in DeltaM_d and to a significant increase of DeltaM_s relative to the standard model prediction for a light pseudoscalar Higgs A0.…
In the minimal supersymmetric standard model the decay $h^0 \to A^0A^0$ of the light neutral scalar $h^0$ is kinematically allowed for low values of $\tanβ$ when radiative corrections to the neutral Higgs masses are taken into account. The width of this decay mode is revisited on the basis of a complete 1-loop diagrammatic calculation. We give the analytical expressions and numerical results and compare them with the corresponding ones from the simpler and compact approximations of the effective potential method and the renormalization group approach.
We study the complete one loop contribution to H^\pm\to W^\pm V, V= Z, γ, both in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) and in the Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM). We evaluate the MSSM contributions and compare them with the 2HDM ones taking into account b\to sγconstraint, vacuum stability and unitarity constraints in the case of 2HDM, as well as experimental constraints on the MSSM and 2HDM parameters. In the MSSM, we found that in the intermediate range of \tanβ\la 10 and for large A_t, the branching ratio of H^\pm \to W^{\pm} Z can be of the order 10^{-3} while the branching ratio…
We reconsider and update the QCD light-cone sum rules for $B\to π$ form factors. The gluon radiative corrections to the twist-2 and twist-3 terms in the correlation functions are calculated. The $\bar{MS}$ $b$-quark mass is employed, instead of the one-loop pole mass used in the previous analyses. The light-cone sum rule for $f^+_{Bπ}(q^2)$ is fitted to the measured $q^2$-distribution in $B\to πl ν_l$, fixing the input parameters with the largest uncertainty: the Gegenbauer moments of the pion distribution amplitude. For the $B\to π$ vector form factor at zero momentum transfer we predict $f^+…
The Roy equation in the single channel case is a nonlinear, singular integral equation for the phase shift in the low-energy region. We first investigate the infinitesimal neighborhood of a given solution, and then present explicit expressions for amplitudes that satisfy the nonlinear equation exactly. These amplitudes contain free parameters that render the non-uniqueness of the solution manifest. They display, however, an unphysical singularity at the upper end of the interval considered. This singularity disappears and uniqueness is achieved if one uses analyticity properties of the amplitu…
The universal radiative corrections common to neutron and super-allowed nuclear beta decays (also known as ``inner'' corrections) are revisited in light of a recent dispersion relation study that found $+2.467(22)\%$, i.e.~about $2.4σ$ larger than the previous evaluation. For comparison, we consider several alternative computational methods. All employ an updated perturbative QCD four-loop Bjorken sum rule (BjSR) defined QCD coupling supplemented with a nucleon form factor based Born amplitude to estimate axial-vector induced hadronic contributions. In addition, we now include hadronic contrib…
We revisit the effective field theory of long relativistic strings such as confining flux tubes in QCD. We derive the Polchinski-Strominger interaction by a calculation in static gauge. This interaction implies that a non-critical string which initially oscillates in one direction gets excited in orthogonal directions as well. In static gauge no additional term in the effective action is needed to obtain this effect. It results from a one-loop calculation using the Nambu-Goto action. Non-linearly realized Lorentz symmetry is manifest at all stages in dimensional regularization. We also explain…
Analyzing the $\ell +n$-$jets+ \met$ (where $n \ge 2 $), data from Run-I of the Tevatron using the Bayesian technique, we obtain model independent limits on the product $\br(\lstop\ra be^{+}ν_e \lspone) \times \br(\lstop^{*}\ra \bar{b}q\bar{q^{\prime}}\lspone)$ for different values of the lighter top squark($\lstop$) mass and the lightest supersymmetric particle($\lspone$) mass. The SUSY signals have been simulated by interfacing the 4-body decay of $\lstop$ at the parton level with the event generator PYTHIA. These limits have been translated into exclusion plots in the $\mlstop$-$\mlspone$ p…
Encouraged by the advent of a new generation of underground detectors---JUNO, DUNE and Hyper-Kamiokande---that are projected to improve significantly on the present sensitivities to various baryon decay modes, we revisit baryon decay in the minimal supersymmetric SU(5) GUT. We discuss the phenomenological uncertainties associated with hadronic matrix elements and the value of the strong coupling $α_s$---which are the most important---the weak mixing angle $θ_W$, quark masses including one-loop renormalization effects, quark mixing and novel GUT phases that are not visible in electroweak intera…
We re-examine one-pion exchange as a possible binding mechanism in the X(3872) charmonium-like state and argue it to be not sufficiently binding for this purpose. We conclude therefore that other short-range dynamics are responsible for the X formation.
The $D^*Dπ$ form factor is evaluated in a QCD sum rule calculation for both $D$ and $π$ off-shell mesons. We study the Borel sum rule for the three-point function of one pseudoscalar, one axial and one vector meson currents. We find that the momentum dependence of the form factors is very different if the $D$ or the $π$ meson is off-shell, but they lead to the same coupling constant in the $D^*Dπ$ vertex.
