We study the formation of the (noncommutative) Schwarzschild black hole from collapsing shell {of the} generalized matters containing polytropic and Chaplygin gas. We show that this collapsing shell depending on various parameters forms either a black hole or a naked singular shell with the help of the pressure.Furthermore, by considering the smeared gravitational sources, we investigate the noncommutative black holes formation. Though this mild noncommutative correction of matters cannot ultimately resolve the emergence of the naked singularity, we show that in some parameter region the collapsing shell evolves to a noncommutative black hole before becoming a naked singular shell.
We investigate the massless scalar quasinormal modes (QNMs) of the noncommutative $D$-dimensional Schwarzschild-Tangherlini black hole spacetime in this paper. By using the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) approximation method, the asymptotic iterative method (AIM) and the inverted potential method (IPM) method, we made a detail analysis of the massless scalar QNM frequencies by varying the general smeared matter distribution and the allowable characteristic parameters ($k$ and $θ$) corresponding to different dimensions. It is found that the nonconvergence of the high order WKB approximation ex…
Noncommutative geometry, an offshoot of string theory, replaces point-like objects by smeared objects. The resulting uncertainty may cause a black hole to be observationally indistinguishable from a traversable wormhole, while the latter, in turn, may become observationally indistinguishable from a gravastar. The same noncommutative-geometry background allows the theoretical construction of thin-shell wormholes from gravastars and may even serve as a model for dark energy.
In this paper we focus on the partial wave method with the aim of exploring the scattering of massless scalar waves due to the noncommutative Schwarzschild black hole via Lorentzian smeared mass distribution. We determine the phase shift analytically in low-frequency limit and we show that the scattering and absorption cross section is modified. Specially, we show that in the low-frequency limit the scattering/absorption cross section has its value decreased when we increase the value of the non-commutativity parameter. In addition, we have confirmed this result by solving the problem numerica…

We report an investigation of the Snyder noncommutative spacetime and of some of its most natural generalizations, also looking at them as a powerful tool for comparing different notions of dimensionality of a quantum spacetime. It is known that (generalized-)Snyder noncommutativity, while having rich off-shell implications (kinematical Hilbert space), does not affect on-shell particles (physical Hilbert space), and we argue that physically meaningful notions of dimensionality should describe such spacetimes as trivially four-dimensional, without any running with scales. By studying the thermo…

We discuss the generic properties of a general, smoothly varying, spherically symmetric mass distribution $\mathcal{D}(r,θ)$, with no cosmological term ($θ$ is a length scale parameter). Observing these constraints, we show that (a) the de Sitter behavior of spacetime at the origin is generic and depends only on $\mathcal{D}(0,θ)$, (b) the geometry may posses up to $2(k+1)$ horizons depending solely on the total mass $M$ if the cumulative distribution of $\mathcal{D}(r,θ)$ has $2k+1$ inflection points, and (c) no scalar invariant nor a thermodynamic entity diverges. We define new two-parameter…
