With photon-number resolving detectors, we show compression of interference fringes with increasing photon numbers for a Fabry-Perot interferometer. This feature provides a higher precision in determining the position of the interference maxima compared to a classical detection strategy. We also theoretically show supersensitivity if N-photon states are sent into the interferometer and a photon-number resolving measurement is performed.
Fabry-Perot interferometers have stimulated numerous scientific and technical applications ranging from high resolution spectroscopy over metrology, optical filters to interfaces of light and matter at the quantum limit and more. End facet machining of optical fibers has enabled the miniaturization of optical Fabry-Perot cavities. Integration with fiber wave guide technology allows for small yet open devices with favorable scaling properties including mechanical stability and compact mode geometry. These Fiber Fabry-Perot Cavities (FFPCs) are stimulating extended applications in many fields in…
We numerically demonstrate atomic Fabry-Perot resonances for a pulsed interacting Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) source transmitting through double Gaussian barriers. These resonances are observable for an experimentally-feasible parameter choice, which we determined using a previously-developed analytical model for a plane matter-wave incident on a double rectangular barrier system. By simulating an effective one-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation, we investigate the effect of atom number, scattering length, and BEC momentum width on the resonant transmission peaks. For $^{85}$Rb atomic so…
Polariton states with high levels of chiral dissymmetry offer exciting prospects for quantum information, sensing, and lasing applications. Such dissymmetry must emanate from either the involved optical resonators or the quantum emitters. Here, we theoretically demonstrate how chiral polaritons can be realized by combining (high quality factor) achiral Fabry-Perot cavities with samples exhibiting a phenomenon known as "apparent circular dichroism" (ACD), which results from an interference between linear birefringence and dichroic interactions. By introducing a quantum electrodynamical theory o…
Ramsey spectroscopy via coherent population trapping (CPT) is essential in precision measurements. The conventional CPT-Ramsey fringes contain numbers of almost identical oscillations and so that it is difficult to identify the central fringe. Here, we experimentally demonstrate a temporal spinwave Fabry-Pérot interferometry via double-$Λ$ CPT of laser-cooled $^{87}$Rb atoms. Due to the constructive interference of temporal spinwaves, the transmission spectrum appears as a comb of equidistant peaks in frequency domain and thus the central Ramsey fringe can be easily identified. From the optica…
