We investigate the properties of the event horizon and static limit for a charged rotating black hole solution of minimal supergravity theory in (1 + 4) dimension. Unlike the four-dimensional case, there are in general two rotations, and they couple to both mass and charge. This gives rise to much richer structure to ergosphere leading to energy extraction even for axial fall. Another interesting feature is that the metric in this case is sensitive to the sign of the Maxwell charge.
We obtain non-extremal charged rotating black holes in six-dimensional SU(2) gauged supergravity with two independent angular momenta and one U(1) charge. These include supersymmetric black holes without naked closed timelike curves.
We consider four-dimensional U(1)^4 gauged supergravity, and obtain asymptotically AdS_4, non-extremal, charged, rotating black holes with one non-zero U(1) charge. The thermodynamic quantities are computed. We obtain a generalization that includes a NUT parameter. The general solution has a discrete symmetry involving inversion of the rotation parameter, and has a string frame metric that admits a rank-2 Killing-Stackel tensor.
We construct the solution for non-extremal charged rotating black holes in seven-dimensional gauged supergravity, in the case with only one rotation parameter and two independent charges. Using the Boyer-Lindquist coordinates, the metric is expressed in a generalized form of the ansatz previously presented in [S.Q. Wu, Phys. Rev. D 83 (2011) 121502(R)], which may be helpful to find the most general non-extremal two-charged rotating black hole with three unequal rotation parameters. The conserved charges for thermodynamics are also computed.
We obtain an asymptotically AdS, non-extremal, electrically charged and rotating black hole solution of 4-dimensional U(1)^4 gauged supergravity with 2 non-zero and independent U(1) charges. The thermodynamical quantities are computed. We find BPS solutions that are nakedly singular. The solution is generalized to include a NUT parameter and dyonic gauge fields. The string frame metric has a rank-2 Killing-Stackel tensor and has completely integrable geodesic motion, and the massless Klein-Gordon equation separates for the Einstein frame metric.
We obtain new non-extremal rotating black hole solutions in maximal five-dimensional gauged supergravity. They are characterised by five parameters, associated with the mass, the two angular momenta, and two independently-specifiable charge parameters. Two of the three charges associated with the U(1)^3 Cartan subgroup of the SO(6) gauge group are equal, whilst the third can be independently specified. These new solutions generalise all the previously-known rotating solutions in five-dimensional gauged supergravity with independent angular momenta. They describe regular black holes, provided t…
We study a five-dimensional spacetime admitting, in the presence of torsion, a non-degenerate conformal Killing-Yano 2-form which is closed with respect to both the usual exterior differentiation and the exterior differentiation with torsion. Furthermore, assuming that the torsion is closed and co-closed with respect to the exterior differentiation with torsion, we prove that such a spacetime is the only spacetime given by the Chong-Cvetic-Lu-Pope solution for stationary, rotating charged black holes with two independent angular momenta in five-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity.
We describe the most general asymptotically flat, stationary, non-extremal, dyonic black hole of the four-dimensional N = 2 supergravity coupled to 3 vector multiplets that describes the low-energy regime of the STU model. Under U-dualities, this can be used as a seed to generate all single-centered stationary black holes of N = 8 supergravity. The independent conserved charges are the mass, angular momentum, four electric charges and four magnetic charges; an independent NUT charge can also be added. Several aspects of the black hole are presented, including thermodynamics, the BPS limit, the…
Using the general recipe given in arXiv:0804.0009, where all timelike supersymmetric solutions of N=2, D=4 gauged supergravity coupled to abelian vector multiplets were classified, we construct genuine rotating supersymmetric black holes in AdS(4) with nonconstant scalar fields. This is done for the SU(1,1)/U(1) model with prepotential F=-iX^0X^1. In the static case, the black holes are uplifted to eleven dimensions, and generalize the solution found in hep-th/0105250 corresponding to membranes wrapping holomorphic curves in a Calabi-Yau five-fold. The constructed rotating black holes preserve…
With the help of a generalized form of the metric ansatz found for the single-charge case in a previous work [S.Q. Wu, Phys. Rev. D 83, 121502(R) (2011)], I adopt a simple algorithm to construct the most general nonextremal rotating charged black hole solutions in five-dimensional $U(1)^3$ gauged supergravity. The general solution that is interesting for testing the AdS$_5$/CFT$_4$ correspondence in M-theory, is characterized by its mass, two unequal rotation parameters, three different U(1) charges, and a negative cosmological constant. The metric ansatz is very universal and illuminative, it…
We present new results towards the construction of the most general black hole solutions in four-dimensional Fayet-Iliopoulos gauged supergravities. In these theories black holes can be asymptotically AdS and have arbitrary mass, angular momentum, electric and magnetic charges and NUT charge. Furthermore, a wide range of horizon topologies is allowed (compact and noncompact) and the complex scalar fields have a nontrivial radial and angular profile. We construct a large class of solutions in the simplest single scalar model with prepotential $F = -i X^0 X^1$ and discuss their thermodynamics. M…
We outline a proof of the stability of a massless neutral scalar field $ψ$ in the background of a wide class of four dimensional asymptotically flat rotating and ``electrically charged'' solutions of supergravity, and the low energy limit of string theory, known as STU metrics. Despite their complexity, we find it possible to circumvent the difficulties presented by the existence of ergo-regions and the related phenomenon of super-radiance in the original metrics by following a strategy due to Whiting, and passing to an auxiliary metric admitting an everywhere lightlike Killing field and const…
Using the recipe of arXiv:0902.4814, where all fake supersymmetric backgrounds of matter-coupled fake N=2, d=4 gauged supergravity were classified, we construct dynamical rotating black holes in an expanding FLRW universe. This is done for two different prepotentials that are both truncations of the stu model and correspond to just one vector multiplet. In this scenario, the cosmic expansion is driven by two U(1) gauge fields and by a complex scalar that rolls down its potential. Generically, the solutions of arXiv:0902.4814 are fibrations over a Gauduchon-Tod base space, and we make three dif…
The extremal Reissner-Nordström black hole admits a conformal inversion symmetry, in which the metric is mapped into itself under an inversion of the radial coordinate combined with a conformal rescaling. In the rotating generalisation, Couch and Torrence showed that the Kerr-Newman metric no longer exhibits a conformal inversion symmetry, but the radial equation arising in the separation of the massless Klein-Gordon equation admits a mode-dependent inversion symmetry, where the radius of inversion depends upon the energy and azimuthal angular momentum of the mode. It was more recently shown t…
We construct the first rotating string solution in 6-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet supergravity, carrying both electric and magnetic charges. By embedding the known rotating string solution of the 2-derivative theory into 6-dimensional off-shell supergravity, the Killing spinors associated with the underlying supersymmetry can be made off-shell and are universal to all off-shell supergravity models based on the same field content. The near-horizon geometry is S^3 fibred over the extremal BTZ black hole, locally isomorphic to AdS_3*S^3. We compute the higher-derivative corrections to the Br…
We present new supersymmetric black-hole solutions of the 4- and 5-dimensional gauged supergravity theories that one obtains by dimensional reduction on $T^{5}$ and $T^{6}$ of Heterotic supergravity with a triplet of Yang-Mills fields. The new ingredient of our solutions is the presence of dyonic non-Abelian fields which allows us to obtain a generalization of the BMPV black hole with two independent angular momenta and the first example of a supersymmetric, rotating, asymptotically-flat black hole with a regular horizon in 4 dimensions.
We obtain the general solution for non-extremal 3-charge dilatonic rotating black holes in the U(1)^3 gauged five-dimensional N=2 supergravity coupled to two vector multiplets, in the case where the two rotation parameters are set equal. These solutions encompass all the previously-known extremal solutions, and, by setting the three charges equal, the recently-obtained non-extremal solutions of N=2 gauged five-dimensional pure supergravity.
As a test of the conjectured QCD/supergravity duality, we consider mass gaps in the supergravity construction of QCD_2. We find a mass gap in the dual field theory both when using non-rotating and rotating black D2-branes as backgrounds in the supergravity construction of QCD_2. So, since pure QCD_2 does not have a mass gap, the dual field theory of the supergravity construction of QCD_2 cannot be pure QCD_2. Considering the mass scales in the dual field theory of the supergravity construction of QCD_2, we find that this is explainable both in the case of the non-rotating background and of the…
In the present paper we show that for a low frequency limit the wave equation of massless scalar field in the background of non-extremal charged rotating black holes in five-dimensional minimal gauged and ungauged supergravity can be written as the Casimir of an $SL(2,R)$ symmetry, our result show that the entropy of the black hole is reproduced by the Cardy formula, also the absorption cross section is in consistence with the finite temperature absorption cross section for a 2D CFT.
We consider the non-extremal, charged, rotating black hole solution of five dimensional minimal gauged supergravity of Cvetic, Lu and Pope [Phys.Lett. B 598 (2004) 273]. We compute the Ashtekar-Magnon-Das mass and show it agrees with the thermodynamic mass. We find a reducible Killing tensor and integrate the geodesic equation explicitly. We also compute the Euclidean action of the black hole and show it satisfies the quantum statistical relation. Further we present a Smarr relation. We end with a discussion of applications to string theory.
We show a uniqueness theorem for charged rotating black holes in the bosonic sector of five-dimensional minimal supergravity. More precisely, under the assumptions of the existence of two commuting axial isometries and spherical topology of horizon cross-sections, we prove that an asymptotically flat, stationary charged rotating black hole with finite temperature in five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory is uniquely characterized by the mass, charge, and two independent angular momenta and therefore is described by the five-dimensional Cvetic-Youm solution with equal charges. We…
In this article, we explore the holographic Q-picture description for the charged rotating black holes in the five-dimensional minimal supergravity. The central charge in the Q-picture depends only on black hole charge, therefore can be computed from the near horizon geometry of the extremal and non-rotating counterpart. Moreover, the CFT temperatures can be identified by studying the hidden conformal symmetry, and the related gravity-CFT dictionary can be translated via thermodynamics analysis. The entropy and absorption cross section computed from both gravity and CFT sides properly agree wi…
We examine the separability properties of the equation of motion for a stationary string near a rotating charged black hole with two independent angular momenta in five-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity. It is known that the separability problem for the stationary string in a general stationary spacetime is reduced to that for the usual Hamilton-Jacobi equation for geodesics of its quotient space with one dimension fewer. Using this fact, we show that the "effective metric" of the quotient space does not allow the complete separability for the Hamilton-Jacobi equation, albeit such a sepa…
We construct the general solution for non-extremal charged rotating black holes in five-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity. They are characterised by four non-trivial parameters, namely the mass, the charge, and the two independent rotation parameters. The metrics in general describe regular rotating black holes, providing the parameters lie in appropriate ranges so that naked singularities and closed timelike curves (CTC's) are avoided. We calculate the conserved energy, angular momenta and charge for the solutions, and show how supersymmetric solutions arise in a BPS limit. These have n…
Generally black hole could be over charged/spun violating the weak cosmic censorship conjecture (WCCC) for linear order accretion while the same is always restored back for non-linear accretion. The only exception however is that of a five dimensional rotating black hole with single rotation that cannot be overspun even at linear order. In this paper we investigate this question for a five dimensional charged rotating minimally gauged supergravity black hole and show that it could not be overspun under non-linear accretion and thereby respecting WCCC. However in the case of single rotation WCC…
We study the integrability of geodesic flow in the background of some recently discovered charged rotating solutions of supergravity in four and five dimensions. Specifically, we work with the gauged multicharge Taub-NUT-Kerr-(Anti) de Sitter metric in four dimensions, and the $U(1)^3$ gauged charged-Kerr-(Anti) de Sitter black hole solution of N = 2 supergravity in five dimensions. We explicitly construct the Killing tensors that permit separation of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation in these spacetimes. These results prove integrability for a large class of previously known supergravity solutions…
The fluctuations around the D0-brane near-horizon geometry are described by two-dimensional SO(9) gauged maximal supergravity. We work out the U(1)^4 truncation of this theory whose scalar sector consists of five dilaton and four axion fields. We construct the full non-linear Kaluza-Klein ansatz for the embedding of the dilaton sector into type IIA supergravity. This yields a consistent truncation around a geometry which is the warped product of a two-dimensional domain wall and the sphere S^8. As an application, we consider the solutions corresponding to rotating D0-branes which in the near-h…
Supersymmetric black holes in five-dimensional gauged supergravity must necessarily be rotating, and so in order to study the passage to black holes away from supersymmetry, it is of great interest to obtain non-extremal black holes that again have non-zero rotation. In this paper we find a simple framework for describing non-extremal rotating black holes in five-dimensional gauged supergravities. Using this framework, we are able to construct a new solution, describing the general single-charge solution of N=2 gauged supergravity, with arbitrary values for the two rotation parameters. Previou…
We present two new classes of dyonic anti-de Sitter black hole solutions of 4-dimensional maximal N=8, SO(8) gauged supergravity. They are: (1) static black holes of N=2, U(1)^4 gauged supergravity with 4 electric and 4 magnetic charges, with spherical, planar or hyperbolic horizons; and (2) rotating black holes of N=2, U(1)^2 gauged supergravity with 2 electric and 2 magnetic charges. We study their thermodynamics, and point out that the formulation of a consistent thermodynamics for dyonic anti-de Sitter black holes is dependent on the existence of boundary conditions for the gauge fields. W…
We obtain the solution for non-extremal charged rotating black holes in seven-dimensional gauged supergravity, in the case where the three rotation parameters are set equal. There are two independent charges, corresponding to gauge fields in the U(1)xU(1) abelian subgroup of the SO(5) gauge group. A new feature in these solutions, not seen previously in lower-dimensional examples, is that the first-order "odd-dimensional self-duality" equation for the 4-form field strength plays a non-trivial role. We also study the BPS limit of our solutions where the black holes become supersymmetric. Our re…
We show a uniqueness theorem for charged dipole rotating black rings in the bosonic sector of five-dimensional minimal supergravity, generalizing our previous work [arXiv:0901.4724] on the uniqueness of charged rotating black holes with topologically spherical horizon in the same theory. More precisely, assuming the existence of two commuting axial Killing vector fields, we prove that an asymptotically flat, stationary charged rotating black hole with non-degenerate connected event horizon of cross-section topology S^1XS^2 in the five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory-if exists-…
In recent series of papers, we found an arbitrary dimensional, time-evolving and spatially-inhomogeneous solutions in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity with particular couplings. Similar to the supersymmetric case the solution can be arbitrarily superposed in spite of non-trivial time-dependence, since the metric is specified by a set of harmonic functions. When each harmonic has a single point source at the center, the solution describes a spherically symmetric black hole with regular Killing horizons and the spacetime approaches asymptotically to the Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker (FLRW)…
We consider solutions of the four dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills system with a negative cosmological constant $Λ=-3g^2$, where $g$ is the nonabelian gauge coupling constant. This theory corresponds to a consistent truncation of ${\cal N}=4$ gauged supergravity and may be uplifted to $d=11$ supergravity. A systematic study of all known solutions is presented as well as new configurations corresponding to rotating regular dyons and rotating nonabelian black holes. The thermodynamics of the static black hole solutions is also discussed. The generic EYM solutions present a nonvanishing magnetic f…
We continue to investigate the separability of massive field equations for spin-0 and spin-1/2 charged particles in the general, non-extremal, rotating, charged, Chong-Cvetic-Lu-Pope black holes with two independent angular momenta and a non-zero cosmological constant in minimal D = 5 gauged supergravity theory. We show that the complex Klein-Gordon equation and the modified Dirac equation with the inclusion of an extra counter-term can be separated by variables into purely radial and purely angular parts in this general Einstein-Maxwell-Chern-Simons background spacetime. A second order symmet…
We present the general exact solutions for non-extremal rotating charged black holes in the Godel universe of five-dimensional minimal supergravity theory. They are uniquely characterized by four non-trivial parameters, namely the mass $m$, the charge $q$, the Kerr equal rotation parameter $a$, and the Godel parameter $j$. We calculate the conserved energy, angular momenta and charge for the solutions and show that they completely satisfy the first law of black hole thermodynamics. We also study the symmetry and separability of the Hamilton-Jacobi and the massive Klein-Gordon equations in thes…
We discuss some general features of black holes of five-dimensional supergravity, such as the first law of black hole mechanics. We also discuss some special features of rotating supersymmetric black holes. In particular, we show that the horizon is a non-singular, and {\sl non-rotating}, null hypersurface whose intersection with a Cauchy surface is a squashed 3-sphere. We find the Killing spinors of the near-horizon geometry and thereby determine the near-horizon isometry supergroup.
Massive type IIA supergravity admits a warped AdS_6 x S^4 vacuum solution, which is expected to be dual to an N=2, D=5 super-conformal Yang-Mills theory. We study solutions for strings rotating or spinning in this background. The warp factor plays no essential role when the string spins in the AdS_6, implying a commonality in the leading Regge trajectories between the D=4 and D=5 super-conformal field theories. The warp factor does, however, become important when the string rotates in the S^4, in particular for long strings, which have the the relation E- 3J/2=c_1 + c_2/J^5+..., where the angu…
We consider asymptotically AdS, non-extremal, charged and rotating black holes with rotation in a single 2-plane and two independent U(1) charge parameters. Using a common ansatz, solutions are found for 5-dimensional U(1)^3 gauged supergravity, 7-dimensional U(1)^2 gauged supergravity, and 6-dimensional U(1) gauged supergravity coupled to matter. We also find static AdS black holes with two U(1) charges of a certain theory in arbitrary dimensions. Some basic properties of the solutions are studied.
By taking the ultra-spinning limit as a simple solution-generating trick, a novel class of ultra-spinning charged black hole solutions has been constructed from Chow's rotating charged black hole with two equal-charge parameters in six-dimensional $\mathcal{N} = 4$ gauged supergravity theory. We investigate their thermodynamical properties and then demonstrate that all thermodynamical quantities completely obey both the differential first law and the Bekenstein-Smarr mass formula. For the six-dimensional ultra-spinning Chow's black hole with only one rotation parameter, we show that it does no…
We detail the construction of the most general asymptotically flat, stationary, rotating, non-extremal, dyonic black hole of the four-dimensional N=2 supergravity coupled to 3 vector multiplets that describes the STU model. It generates through U-dualities the most general asymptotically flat, stationary black hole of N=8 supergravity. We develop the solution generating technique based on SO(4,4)/SL(2,R)^4 coset model symmetries, with an emphasis on the 4-fold permutation symmetry of the gauge fields. We indicate how previously known non-extremal and extremal solutions of the STU model are rec…
We show that the general solution of Chong, Cvetic, Lu and Pope for nonextremal rotating charged black holes in five-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity, or equivalently in the Einstein-Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory with a negative cosmological constant and with the Chern-Simons coefficient $ ν=1 $, admits a simple description in a Kerr-Schild type framework with two scalar functions. Next, assuming this framework as an ansatz, we obtain new analytic solutions for slowly rotating charged black holes in the Einstein-Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory with $ ν\neq 1 .$ Using a covariant superpotentia…
We consider a general charged, rotating black hole in five-dimensional STU supergravity, and show that its six-dimensional Kaluza-Klein lift admits a Killing-Yano 3-form with torsion. This underlies its known Killing tensors in five dimensions, and is related to the separability of torsion-modified Dirac equations. In the generalization to gauged supergravity, we present a five-dimensional Killing-Yano 3-form with torsion when two of the gauge fields are equal, and a Killing-Stackel tensor in the general 3-charge Wu solution.
We present various supergravity black holes of different dimensions with some U(1) charges set equal in a simple, common form. Black hole solutions of seven dimensional U(1)^2 gauged supergravity with three independent angular momenta and two equal U(1) charges are obtained. We investigate the thermodynamics and the BPS limit of this solution, and find that there are rotating supersymmetric black holes without naked closed timelike curves. There are also supersymmetric topological soliton solutions without naked closed timelike curves that have a smooth geometry.
We study four-dimensional non-extremal charged rotating black holes in ungauged and gauged supergravity. In the ungauged case, we obtain rotating black holes with four independent charges, as solutions of N=2 supergravity coupled to three abelian vector multiplets. This is done by reducing the theory along the time direction to three dimensions, where it has an O(4,4) global symmetry. Applied to the reduction of the uncharged Kerr metric, O(1,1)^4\subset O(4,4) transformations generate new solutions that correspond, after lifting back to four dimensions, to the introduction of four independent…
We consider both gauged and ungauged minimal supergravities in five dimensions and analyse the charged rotating solutions with two equal angular momenta $J$. When the electric charge $Q\sim J^{2/3}$ with some specific coefficient, we find new extremal black objects emerge that are asymptotic to either Minkowski or global AdS spacetimes and can be best described as degenerate black rings. Their near-horizon geometry is locally AdS$_3\times S^2$, where the periodic $U(1)$ fibre coordinate in $S^3$ untwists and collapses to be the degenerate part of the AdS$_3$ horizon. It turns out that there ar…
We explore the integrability of five-dimensional minimal supergravity in the presence of three commuting Killing vectors. We argue that to see the integrability structure of the theory one necessarily has to perform an Ehlers reduction to two dimensions. A direct dimensional reduction to two dimensions does not allow us to see the integrability of the theory in an easy way. This situation is in contrast with vacuum five-dimensional gravity. We derive the Belinski-Zakharov (BZ) Lax pair for minimal supergravity based on a symmetric 7x7 coset representative matrix for the coset G2/(SL(2,R) x SL(…
We obtained retarded Green's functions for massless scalar fields in the background of near-extreme, near-horizon rotating charged black hole of five-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity in Phys. Rev. D84, 044018 (2011). For general nonextreme black holes, we also derived the radial part of the massless Klein-Gordon equation with zero azimuthal-angle eigenvalues, and showed that it is a general Heun's equation with a regular singularity at each horizon $u_k$ ($k=1,2,3$) and at infinity. We derived explicitly that the residuum of a pole at each $u_k$ is associated with the surface gravity th…
Subject to some relatively mild assumptions, we derive the complete form of all timelike half-supersymmetric solutions to N=2, D=4 gauged supergravity coupled to an arbitrary number of abelian vector multiplets. This is done using spinorial geometry techniques. Explicit examples are given for a simple prepotential. Among the solutions, there are near-horizon geometries of extremal rotating BPS black holes still to be discovered, with a nontrivial dependence of the scalar fields on one of the horizon coordinates.
We construct a new class of charged, rotating hairy black holes in a consistent truncation of $\mathcal{N} = 8$ supergravity, which retains one charged scalar field and a U$(1)$ gauge field. These hairy solutions can be uplifted to solutions of type IIB supergravity with AdS$_5\times$S$^5$ asymptotics. We find rotating hairy black holes with finite entropy arbitrarily close to the supersymmetric bound - the resulting supersymmetric solution is a one-parameter extension of the Gutowski-Reall solution. These solutions have finite curvature invariants (including at extremality), but in the extrem…
We present stationary, nonextremal three charge rotating black hole solutions in the five-dimensional U(1)^3 ungauged supergravity. At infinity, our solutions behave as a four-dimensional flat spacetime with a compact extra-dimension and hence describe spherical black holes with Kaluza-Klein asymptotics.
If two particles collide near the horizon of a rotating extremal black hole, under certain conditions the energy E_{c.m.} in the center-of-mass frame can grow without limit (the so-called Banados-Silk-West effect). We consider collisions that produce two other particles. We show that for a generic dirty (surrounded by matter) black hole, there exist upper bounds on the energy and mass of product particles which can be detected at infinity. As a result, the positive energy gain is possible but is quite modest. It mainly depends on two numbers in which near-horizon behavior of the metric is enco…
We construct new non-extremal rotating black hole solutions in SO(6) gauged five-dimensional supergravity. Our solutions are the first such examples in which the two rotation parameters are independently specifiable, rather than being set equal. The black holes carry charges for all three of the gauge fields in the U(1)^3 subgroup of SO(6), albeit with only one independent charge parameter. We discuss the BPS limits, showing in particular that these include the first examples of regular supersymmetric black holes with independent angular momenta in gauged supergravity. We also find non-singula…
Motivated by the study of conserved Aretakis charges for a scalar field on the horizon of an extremal black hole, we construct the metrics for certain classes of four-dimensional and five-dimensional extremal rotating black holes in Gaussian null coordinates. We obtain these as expansions in powers of the radial coordinate, up to sufficient order to be able to compute the Aretakis charges. The metrics we consider are for 4-charge black holes in four-dimensional STU supergravity (including the Kerr-Newman black hole in the equal-charge case) and the general 3-charge black holes in five-dimensio…
We investigate Killing tensors for various black hole solutions of supergravity theories. Rotating black holes of an ungauged theory, toroidally compactified heterotic supergravity, with NUT parameters and two U(1) gauge fields are constructed. If both charges are set equal, then the solutions simplify, and then there are concise expressions for rank-2 conformal Killing-Stackel tensors. These are induced by rank-2 Killing-Stackel tensors of a conformally related metric that possesses a separability structure. We directly verify the separation of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation on this conformally…
To perform realistic tests of theories of gravity, we need to be able to look beyond general relativity and evaluate the consistency of alternative theories with observational data from, especially, gravitational wave detections using, for example, an agnostic Bayesian approach. In this paper we further examine properties of one class of such viable, alternative theories, based on metrics arising from ungauged supergravity. In particular, we examine the massless, neutral, minimally coupled scalar wave equation in a general stationary, axisymmetric background metric such as that of a charged ro…
We discuss general bosonic stationary configurations of N=2, D=4 supergravity coupled to vector multiplets. The requirement of unbroken supersymmetries imposes constraints on the holomorphic symplectic section of the underlying special Kähler manifold. The corresponding solutions of the field equations are completely determined by a set of harmonic functions. As examples we discuss rotating black holes, Taub-NUT and Eguchi-Hanson like instantons for the STU model. In addition, we discuss, in the static limit, worldsheet instanton corrections to the STU black hole solution, in the neighbourhood…
The construction of neutral black hole microstates is an important problem, with implications for the information paradox. In this paper we conjecture a construction of non-supersymmetric supergravity solutions describing D-brane configurations which carry mass and angular momentum, but no other conserved charges. We first study a classical string solution which locally carries dipole winding and momentum charges in two compact directions, but globally carries no net winding or momentum charge. We investigate its backreaction in the D1-D5 duality frame, where this object becomes a supertube wh…
We construct a generalization of the AdS charged rotating black holes with two equal magnitude angular momenta in five-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity. In addition to the mass, electric charge and angular momentum, the new solutions possess an extra-parameter associated with a non-zero magnitude of the magnetic potential at infinity. In contrast with the known cases, these new black holes possess a non-trivial zero-horizon size limit which describes a one parameter family of spinning charged solitons. All configurations reported in this work approach asymptotically an AdS$_5$ spacetime…
We present a numerical study of fully non-linear, rotating and charged hairy black hole solutions in five-dimensional anti-de Sitter space, which originate from a consistent truncation of $\mathcal{N}=8$ supergravity, and can be consistently embedded in type IIB supergravity with AdS$_5\times$S$^5$ asymptotics. The hairy black holes have one scalar field charged under a $U(1)$ gauge field, and branch from the near-extremal Cvetič, Lü and Pope solutions. We give numerical evidence that the hairy solutions exist arbitrarily close to the BPS bound for all charges, and saturate it in the $T\righta…
