The SUSY flavour problem is deeply related to the origin of flavour and hence to the origin of the SM Yukawa couplings themselves. Since all CP-violation in the SM is restricted to the flavour sector, it is possible that the SUSY CP problem is related to the origin of flavour as well. In this work, we present three variations of an SU(3) flavour model with spontaneous CP violation. Such models explain the hierarchy in the fermion masses and mixings, and predict the structure of the flavoured soft SUSY breaking terms. In such a situation, both SUSY flavour and CP problems do not exist. We use electric dipole moments and lepton flavour violation processes to distinguish between these models, and place constraints on the SUSY parameter space.
Electric dipole moments from flavoured CP violation in SUSY
Although $SO(10)$ Supersymmetric (SUSY) Grand Unification Theories (GUTs) are very attractive for neutrino mass and mixing, it is often quite difficult to achieve successful leptogenesis from the lightest right-handed neutrino $N_1$ due to the strong relations between neutrino and up-type quark Yukawa couplings. We show that in a realistic model these constraints are relaxed, making $N_1$ leptogenesis viable. To illustrate this, we calculate the baryon asymmetry of the Universe $ Y_B $ from flavoured $ N_1 $ leptogenesis in a recently proposed $ Δ(27) \times SO(10) $ SUSY GUT. The flavoured Bo…
FCNC and CP Violation Observables in a SU(3)-flavoured MSSM
We analyze the Higgs sector of the minimal $S(3)$-invariant extension of the Standard Model including CP violation arising from the spontaneous electroweak symmetry breaking. This extended Higgs sector includes three SU(2) doublets Higgs fields with complex vev's providing an interesting scenario to analyze the Higgs masses spectrum, trilinear Higgs self-couplings and CP violation. We present how the spontaneous electroweak symmetry breaking coming from three $S(3)$ Higgs fields gives an interesting scenario with nine physical Higgs and three Goldstone bosons when spontaneous CP violation aris…
We discuss spontaneous supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking in a model with an anomalous $U(1)_A$ symmetry. In this model, the size of the each term in the superpotential is controlled by the $U(1)_A$ charge assignment and SUSY is spontaneously broken via the Fayet-Iliopoulos of $U(1)_A$ at the meta-stable vacuum. In the global SUSY analysis, the gaugino masses become much smaller than the sfermion masses, because an approximate R-symmetry appears at the SUSY breaking vacuum. In this paper, we show that gaugino masses can be as large as gravitino mass, taking the supergravity effect into consideratio…
Neutrino properties in E6 x SU(2)F SUSY GUT with spontaneous CP violation
We propose a simple grand unified theory (GUT) scenario in which supersymmetry (SUSY) is spontaneously broken in visible sector. Our model is based on the GUT model that has been proposed to solve almost all problems in conventional GUT scenarios. In the previous work, the problems can be solved by a natural assumption in a supersymmetric vacuum. In this paper, we consider an extension of the model (i.e. omitting one singlet field) and break SUSY spontaneously without new sector. Our model does not have hidden sector and predicts high-scale SUSY where sfermion masses are of order 100-1000 TeV …
We consider a 5D extension of the DFSZ axion model that addresses both the axion quality and fermion mass hierarchy problems, and predicts flavour-dependent, off-diagonal axion-fermion couplings. The axion is part of a 5D complex scalar field charged under a U(1)$_{PQ}$ symmetry that is spontaneously broken in the bulk, and is insensitive to explicit PQ breaking on the UV boundary. Bulk Standard Model fermions interact with two Higgs doublets that can be localized on the UV boundary or propagate in the bulk to explain the fermion masses and mixings. When the Higgs doublets are localized on the…
It is one of the major issues to realize a vacuum which breaks supersymmetry (SUSY) and R-symmetry, in a supersymmetric model. We study the model, where the same sector breaks the gauge symmetry and SUSY. In general, the SUSY breaking model without gauge symmetry has a flat direction at the minimum of F-term scalar potential. When we introduce U(1) gauge symmetry to such a SUSY breaking model, there can appear a runaway direction. Such a runway direction can be lifted by loop effects, and the gauge symmetry breaking and SUSY breaking are realized. The R-symmetry, that is assigned to break SUSY…
We propose a 6d model with a SUSY $SU(5)$ gauge symmetry. After compactification, it explains the origin of the $S_4$ Family Symmetry with CSD3 vacuum alignment, as well as $SU(5)$ breaking with doublet-triplet splitting. The model naturally accounts for all quark and lepton (including neutrino) masses and mixings, incorporating the highly predictive Littlest Seesaw structure. It spontaneously breaks CP symmetry, resulting in successful CP violation in the quark and lepton sectors, while solving the Strong CP problem. It also explains the Baryon Asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) through leptogen…
The supersymmetric Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model proposed by Cheng, Dai, Faisel and Kong is re-analyzed by using an auxiliary superfield method in which a hidden local U(1) symmetry emerges. It is shown that, in the healthy field-space region where no negative metric particles appear, only SUSY preserving vacua can be realized in the weak coupling regime and a composite massive spin-1 supermultiplets appear as a result of spontaneous breaking of the hidden local U(1) symmetry. In the strong coupling regime, on the other hand, SUSY is dynamically broken, but it is always accompanied by negative metr…
We present a supersymmetric solution to the strong CP problem based on spontaneous CP violation which simultaneously addresses the affects coming from supersymmetry breaking. The generated CP violating phase is communicated to the quark sector by interacting with a heavy quark a la Nelson-Barr. The Majorana mass of the right handed neutrinos is generated by interactions with the CP violating sector and so does not conserve CP. This gives the neutrino sector a non-trivial CP violating phase which can then generate the baryon asymmetry of the universe through leptogeneis. The problematic phase i…
