The current 7 TeV run of the LHC experiment shall be able to probe gluino and squark masses up to values of about 1 TeV. Assuming that hints for SUSY are found by the end of a 2 fb$^{-1}$ run, we explore the flavour constraints on the parameter space of the CMSSM, with and without massive neutrinos. In particular, we focus on decays that might have been measured by the time the run is concluded, such as $B_s\toμμ$ and $μ\to eγ$. We also briefly show the impact such a collider--flavour interplay would have on a Flavoured CMSSM.
We estimate the bounds on Higgs and sparticle masses and discuss their correlations in the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM). In our analysis we have applied the present constraints from collider and low energy experiments, as well as the experimental bound on cold dark matter from WMAP. For a given lightest Higgs boson mass, which is expected to be measured with good precision at the LHC, we find important correlations between the Higgs and sparticle masses which allows one to delineate the MSSM model parameters and particle spectra. We have also demonstrated an import…
We present a phenomenological appraisal of the results of several searches for Supersymmetry (SUSY) performed at the LHC by the CMS collaboration and interpreted in the context of the cMSSM. Part of the analysis focuses on which SUSY production processes are being probed. We observe that much of the current exclusion region is dominated by squark-squark and squark-gluino production, and explain the shape of the exclusion curves. Based on this analysis and an estimation of future reach, additional simplified models are suggested. Other phenomenological details are discussed, such as the effect …
We analyze minimal supersymmetric models in order to determine in what parameter regions with what amount of fine-tuning they are capable of accomodating the LHC-allowed top-stop degeneracy window. The stops must be light enough to enable Higgs naturalness yet heavy enough to induce a 125 GeV Higgs boson mass. These two constraints imply a large mass splitting. By an elaborate scan of the parameter space, we show that stop-on-top scenario requires at least Delta_CMSSM ~ O(10^4) fine-tuning in the CMSSM. By relaxing the CMSSM parameter space with nonuniversal Higgs masses, we find that Delta_NU…
The current 7 TeV run of the LHC experiment shall be able to probe gluino and squark masses up to values larger than 1 TeV. Assuming that hints for SUSY are found in the jets plus missing energy channel by the end of a 5 fb$^{-1}$ run, we explore the flavour constraints on three models with a CMSSM-like spectrum: the CMSSM itself, a Seesaw extension of the CMSSM, and Flavoured CMSSM. In particular, we focus on decays that might have been measured by the time the run is concluded, such as $B_s\toμμ$ and $μ\to eγ$. We also analyse constraints imposed by neutral meson bounds and electric dipole m…
The see-saw mechanism of neutrino mass generation, when incorporated in supersymmetric theories with supergravity mediated supersymmetry breaking, results in low-energy lepton-flavour violation arising from the soft supersymmetry breaking slepton masses. The parameter space of supergravity theories with conserved R-parity is severely constrained by the requirement that the LSP provide cold dark matter with a relic density in the range indicated by the recent WMAP measurements, as well as by laboratory constraints. We calculate the $\meg$ branching ratio for the constrained minimal supersymmetr…
The implications of the latest measurement of the branching fraction of B($ b\rightarrow s γ$) of b hadrons, which is another signature of New Physics beyond Standard Model is presented here. The quark transitions $ b \rightarrow s $, $ b \rightarrow d $ do not happen at tree level in the Standard Model as the Z boson does not couple to quarks of different flavour. In this work the present bounds on the quark transition $ b \rightarrow s $ within the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), in which there are three independent soft SUSY breaking parameters $ …
We have studied the SUSY scale dependence of supersymmetric radiative corrections to bottom quark mass on the branching ratio of $B_s^0 \to μ^+μ^-$ and its impact on the cMSSM parameter space. The supersymmetric radiative corrections to bottom quark mass is in general evaluated at the SUSY scale, which is normally considered to be the geometric mean of stop masses. Then, the running of bottom quark mass is considered from the SUSY scale to the matching scale $M_W$ of the effective Hamiltonian which describes this decay. It is found that the branching ratio varies drastically with the SUSY scal…
We present new global fits of the cMSSM, including LHC 1/fb integrated luminosity SUSY exclusion limits, recent LHC 5/fb constraints on the mass of the Higgs boson and XENON100 direct detection data. Our analysis fully takes into account astrophysical and hadronic uncertainties that enter the analysis when translating direct detection limits into constraints on the cMSSM parameter space. We provide results for both a Bayesian and a Frequentist statistical analysis. We find that LHC 2011 constraints in combination with XENON100 data can rule out a significant portion of the cMSSM parameter spac…
We explore the coannihilation region of the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM) being consistent with current experimental/observational results. The requirements from the experimental/observational results are the 125GeV Higgs mass and the relic abundances of both the dark matter and light elements, especially the lithium-7. We put these requirements on the caluculated values, and thus we obtain allowed region. Then we give predictions to the mass spectra of the SUSY particles, the anomalous magnetic moment of muon, branching fractions of the B-meson rare decays, the dir…
The accuracy in the measurement of the masses of sleptons and heavy Higgs bosons in cMSSM scenarios, compatible with the WMAP result on cold dark matter, has been re-analysed in view of the requirements for predicting this density to a few percent level from SUSY measurements at the linear collider.
We analyse the fine-tuning in the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) in the light of the present and expected ATLAS and CMS SUSY searches. Even with 10/fb of data and no discovery of SUSY valid regions might remain with fine-tuning less than 20. Moreover we investigate the fine-tuning price of GUT scale Yukawa coupling relations. Considering a 2$σ$ constraint for $(g-2)_μ$ and fine-tuning less than 30 yields an allowed range of $y_τ/y_b = [1.31,1.70]$, which points towards the alternative GUT prediction $y_τ/y_b = 3/2$. Relaxing the $(g-2)_μ$ constraint to 5$σ$ extends t…
Flavour-violating interactions of the stop-quarks are expected to provide an additional few GeV contributions to the Higgs-Boson mass, particularly when mix with scharm-quarks, thereby allowing reduced supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking scale compared to flavour-conserving constrained minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM). Inspired by this, we analyse the interactions mentioned above in the context of CMSSM using the information entropy of the Higgs-Boson for a wider region of flavour-violating CMSSM parameter space $(m_0,m_{1/2},A_0,$ $\tanβ,sgn(μ),δ_{ct}^{ij})$, where $δ_{ct}^{ij}$ repres…
On the basis of frequentist analyses of experimental constraints from electroweak precision data, (g-2)_mu, B-physics and cosmological data, we predict the masses of Higgs bosons and SUSY particles of the CMSSM, NUHM1, VCMSSM and mSUGRA. In the CMSSM, NUHM1 and VCMSSM we find preferences for sparticle masses that are relatively light, leading to good prospects for the LHC and the ILC. Including first data from SUSY searches at the LHC leads to an increase of the preferred sparticle mass scales, but improves the consistency of the model predictions for M_h with the LEP exclusion bounds.
We calculate supersymmetric mass spectra with cMSSM boundary conditions and a type-I seesaw mechanism added to explain current neutrino data. Using published, estimated errors on SUSY mass observables for a combined LHC+ILC analysis, we perform a theoretical $χ^2$ analysis to identify parameter regions where pure cMSSM and cMSSM plus seesaw type-I might be distinguishable with LHC+ILC data. The most important observables are determined to be the (left) smuon and selectron masses and the splitting between them, respectively. Splitting in the (left) smuon and selectrons is tiny in most of cMSSM …
We study phenomenological aspects of the MSSM with extra U(1) gauge symmetry. We find that the lightest Higgs boson mass can be increased up to 125 GeV, without introducing a large SUSY scale or large A-terms, in the frameworks of the CMSSM and gauge mediated SUSY breaking (GMSB) models. This scenario can simultaneously explain the discrepancy of the muon anomalous magnetic moment (muon g-2) at the 1 sigma level, in both of the frameworks, U(1)-extended CMSSM/GMSB models. In the CMSSM case, the dark matter abundance can also be explained.
We use the BNL E821 measurement of g - 2, the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, to normalize, within a supersymmetric GUT framework, constrained MSSM (CMSSM) predictions for processes that violate charged-lepton flavour conservation, including mu to e gamma, mu to e conversion and K^0_L to mu e. We illustrate our analysis with two examples of lepton mass matrix textures motivated by data on neutrino oscillations. We find that mu to e gamma may well occur at a rate within one or two (two or three) orders of magnitude of the present experimental upper limit if g - 2 is within the one- (two-…
Global frequentist fits to the CMSSM and NUHM1 using the MasterCode framework are updated to include the public results of searches for supersymmetric signals using \sim 1/fb of LHC data recorded by ATLAS and CMS and \sim 0.3/fb of data recorded by LHCb. We also include the constraints imposed by the electroweak precision and B-physics observables, the cosmological dark matter density and the XENON100 search for spin-independent dark matter scattering. Finally we also investigate the impact of a possible Higgs signal around 125 GeV. The various constraints set new bounds on the parameter space…
The flavour messenger sectors and their impact on the soft SUSY breaking terms are investigated in SUSY flavour models. In the case when the flavour scale M is below the SUSY breaking mediation scale M_S, the universality of soft terms, even if assumed at M_S, is radiatively broken. We estimate this effect in a broad class of models. In the CKM basis that effect gives flavour off-diagonal soft masses comparable to the tree-level estimate based on the flavour symmetry.
If supersymmetry (SUSY) will be discovered, successful models of flavour not only have to provide an explanation of the flavour structure of the Standard Model fermions, but also of the flavour structure of their scalar superpartners. We discuss aspects of such "SUSY flavour" models, towards predicting both flavour structures, in the context of supergravity (SUGRA). We point out the importance of carefully taking into account SUSY-specific effects, such as 1-loop SUSY threshold corrections and canonical normalization, when fitting the model to the data for fermion masses and mixings. This enta…
The SUSY flavour problem is deeply related to the origin of flavour and hence to the origin of the SM Yukawa couplings themselves. Since all CP-violation in the SM is restricted to the flavour sector, it is possible that the SUSY CP problem is related to the origin of flavour as well. In this work, we present three variations of an SU(3) flavour model with spontaneous CP violation. Such models explain the hierarchy in the fermion masses and mixings, and predict the structure of the flavoured soft SUSY breaking terms. In such a situation, both SUSY flavour and CP problems do not exist. We use e…
In the framework of the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) we evaluate the electroweak fine tuning measure that provides a quantitative test of supersymmetry as a solution to the hierarchy problem. Taking account of current experimental constraints we compute the fine tuning at two-loop order and determine the limits on the CMSSM parameter space and the measurements at the LHC most relevant in covering it. Without imposing the LEPII bound on the Higgs mass, it is shown that the fine tuning computed at two-loop has a minimum $Δ=8.8$ corresponding to a Higgs mass $m_h=114\…
We review aspects of the phenomenology of the MSSM with non-minimal flavour violation, including a discussion of important constraints and the sensitivity to fundamental scales.
A class of predictive SO(10) grand unified theories with highly asymmetric mass matrices, known as lopsided textures, has been developed to accommodate the observed mixing in the neutrino sector. The model class effectively determines the rate for charged lepton flavour violation, and in particular the branching ratio for $μ-> e γ$, assuming that the supersymmetric GUT breaks directly to the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM). We find that in light of the combined constraints on the CMSSM parameters from direct searches and from the WMAP satellite observations, the resul…
Discussions are underway for a high-energy proton-proton collider. Two preliminary ideas are the $\sqrt{s}=33$ TeV HE-LHC and the $\sqrt{s}=100$ TeV VLHC. With Bayesian statistics, we calculate the probabilities that the LHC, HE-LHC and VLHC discover SUSY in the future, assuming that nature is described by the CMSSM and given the experimental data from the LHC, LUX and Planck. We find that the LHC with $300$/fb at $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV has a $15$-$75%$ probability of discovering SUSY. Should that run fail to discover SUSY, the probability of discovering SUSY with $3000$/fb is merely $1$-$10%$. Wer…
Based on arXiv:1705.07935 and arXiv:1705.07917, we present the first global fits of supersymmetric models using the new Global And Modular Beyond-the-Standard-Model Inference Tool (GAMBIT). With GAMBIT we have performed frequentist fits of the GUT-scale CMSSM, NUHM1 and NUHM2 models, as well as the weak-scale MSSM7, extending existing results in terms of the number of observables included, scanning techniques and treatment of nuisance parameters. For the GUT-scale models our analyses show that a stop co-annihilation scenario provides the best fit to current data, and that in the CMSSM the stau…
We address the following question. Take the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) with the two CP violating SUSY phases different from zero, and neglect the bound coming from the electric dipole moment of the neutron (EDM): is it possible to fully account for CP violation in the kaon and B systems using only the SUSY contributions with vanishing CKM phase? We show that the ${BR}(B\to X_{s} γ)$ constraint, though CP conserving, forces a negative answer to the above question. This implies that, even in the regions of the CMSSM where a cancellation of different contributions t…
The recent discovery of a 125 GeV Higgs-like resonance at LHC, coupled with the lack of evidence for weak scale supersymmetry (SUSY), have severely constrained SUSY models such as mSUGRA/CMSSM. As LHC probes deeper into SUSY model parameter space, the little hierarchy problem -- how to reconcile the Z and Higgs boson mass scale with the scale of SUSY breaking -- will become increasingly exacerbated unless a sparticle signal is found. We evaluate two different measures of fine-tuning in the mSUGRA/CMSSM model. The more stringent of these, Δ_{HS}, includes effects that arise from the high scale …
The so-called supersymmetric flavour problem does not exist in isolation to the Standard Model flavour problem. We show that a realistic flavour symmetry can simultaneously solve both problems without ad hoc modifications of the SUSY model. Furthermore, departures from the SM expectations in these models can be used to discriminate among different possibilities. In particular we present the expected values for the electron EDM in a flavour model solving the supersymmetric flavour and CP problems.
We analyze the implications for the status and prospects of supersymmetry of the Higgs discovery and the last XENON data. We focus mainly, but not only, on the CMSSM and NUHM models. Using a Bayesian approach we determine the distribution of probability in the parameter space of these scenarios. This shows that, most probably, they are now beyond the LHC reach . This negative chances increase further (at more than 95% c.l.) if one includes dark matter constraints in the analysis, in particular the last XENON100 data. However, the models would be probed completely by XENON1T. The mass of the LS…
We comment on the power of the 'standard' solutions to the SUSY flavour and CP problem based on supergravity and its derivates like mSUGRA in comparison to the flavour symmetry approach. It is argued that flavour symmetries, and SU(3) in particular, can not only mimic the situation in supergravity frameworks in this respect, but sometimes do even better providing at the same time a further link between the soft and Yukawa sectors, that could be testable at future experimental facilities.
We analyse the complementarity between Lepton Flavour Violation (LFV) and LHC experiments in probing the Supersymmetric (SUSY) Grand Unified Theories (GUT) when neutrinos got a mass via the see--saw mechanism. Our analysis is performed in an SO(10) framework, where at least one neutrino Yukawa coupling is necessarily as large as the top Yukawa coupling. Our study thoroughly takes into account the whole RG running, including the GUT and the right handed neutrino mass scales, as well as the running of the observable neutrino spectrum. We find that the upcoming (MEG, SuperKEKB) and future (PRISM/…
We discuss Lepton-Flavour-Violating phenomena such as $μ\to e γ$, $μ\to eee$, and $μ\to e$ conversion in nuclei in SUSY models with and without R-parity. We stress that experimental searches for all the LFV processes are important to distinguish between the different models.
A survey of the mSUGRA/CMSSM parameter space is presented. The viable regions of the parameter space which satisfy all experimental constraints are identified and discussed. These constraints include a 124-127 GeV mass for the lightest CP-even Higgs and the correct relic density for cold dark matter (CDM). The superpartner spectra corresponding to these regions fall within the well-known hyperbolic branch (HB) and are found to possess sub-TeV neutralinos and charginos, with mixed Bino/Higgsino LSP's with 200-800 GeV masses. In addition, the models possess ~3-4 TeV gluino masses and heavy squar…
SUSY_FLAVOUR 2.0 is a FORTRAN code calculating over 30 low-energy flavour- and CP-related observables in the R-parity conserving MSSM. The code admits for the most general flavour structure of the SUSY breaking terms and complex flavour-diagonal couplings. It includes the numerically important resummation of chirally enhanced effects and it is fast enough for scanning over a large SUSY-parameter space. The program can be obtained from http://www.fuw.edu.pl/susy_flavor.
I review the status of supersymmetry after the 2011 LHC search results. I concentrate in particular on interpretations beyond the conventional CMSSM, including i) natural SUSY with light stops, and ii) the so-called phenomenological MSSM, which is a general parametrization of the MSSM at the weak scale, without boundary conditions imposed by specific SUSY breaking schemes. We will see that the current searches are not yet sensitive to some of the theoretically most interesting scenarios.
Constrained supersymmetric models like the CMSSM might look less attractive nowadays because of fine tuning arguments. They also might look less probable in terms of Bayesian statistics. The question how well the model under study describes the data, however, is answered by frequentist p-values. Thus, for the first time, we calculate a p-value for a supersymmetric model by performing dedicated global toy fits. We combine constraints from low-energy and astrophysical observables, Higgs boson mass and rate measurements as well as the non-observation of new physics in searches for supersymmetry a…
Direct searches and the hints for the Higgs at ~125 GeV put increasing pressure on simple models of SUSY breaking, in particular (but not exclusively) on those that automatically solve the flavour problem, such as gauge mediation. SUSY-breaking parameters are pushed to higher and higher values, increasing the fine-tuning required to achieve electroweak symmetry breaking at the observed scale. In this note we consider the situation for models which do not attempt to solve the flavour problem. To treat them on equal footing, we consider the combined fine-tuning arising from electroweak symmetry …
We discuss how flavour GUT models in the context of supergravity can be completed with a simple SUSY breaking sector, such that the flavour-dependent (non-universal) soft breaking terms can be calculated. As an example, we discuss a model based on an SU(5) GUT symmetry and $A_4$ family symmetry, plus additional discrete "shaping symmetries" and a $\mathbb{Z}_4^\mathrm{R}$ symmetry. We calculate the soft terms and identify the relevant high scale input parameters, and investigate the resulting predictions for the low scale observables, such as flavour violating processes, the sparticle spectrum…
The relationship between the degree of fine-tuning in Electroweak Symmetry Breaking (EWSB) and the discoverability of dark matter in current and next generation direct detection experiments is investigated in the context of two unified Supersymmetry scenarios: the constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) and models with non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM). Attention is drawn to the mechanism(s) by which the relic abundance of neutralino dark matter is suppressed to cosmologically viable values. After a summary of Amsel, Freese, and Sandick (2011), results are updated to reflect …
We re-examine the constraints on continuous family symmetries coming from flavour changing neutral current limits on the D-term contributions to squark and slepton masses. We show that, for a restricted choice of the familon sector, continuous family symmetries are consistent with even the most conservative limits both for the case of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking and the case of gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking.
The SUSY-EW one-loop quantum contributions to flavour-changing MSSM Higgs-boson decays into $b \bar s$ and $s \bar b$ are computed and discussed. We use the full diagrammatic approach that is valid for all $\tan β$ values and do not rely on the mass-insertion approximation for the characteristic flavour-changing parameter. We analyze in full detail the dependence of these flavour-changing partial widths on all the relevant MSSM parameters and also study the non-decoupling behaviour of these widths with the SUSY mass parameters. We find that these contributions are sizable as compared to the SM…
We obtain predictions for the neutrino masses, the effective Majorana mass in neutrinoless double beta decay and for the rates of the lepton flavor violating processes $μ\rightarrow e + γ$, $τ\rightarrow e + γ$ and $ τ\rightarrow μ+ γ$ in a SUSY $SU(5) \times T^{\prime}$ Model of flavour, which gives rise to realistic masses and mixing patterns for quarks and leptons.
In split-family SUSY, one can use a U(2)^3 symmetry to protect flavour observables in the quark sector from SUSY contributions. However, attempts to extend this procedure to the lepton sector by using an analogous U(2)^5 symmetry fail to reproduce the neutrino data without introducing some form of fine-tuning. In this work, we solve this problem by shifting the U(2)^2 symmetry acting on leptons towards the second and third generations. This allows neutrino data to be reproduced without much difficulties, as well as protecting the leptonic flavour observables from SUSY. Key signatures are a $μ\…
Flavour-violating couplings of Higgs boson with stop and scharm quarks could be very important as in addition to lifting the mass of the Higgs boson by a few GeV, it could also play a vital phenomenological role in reducing the Supersymmetry breaking scale significantly. In this work, we investigate effects of such flavour-violating couplings within the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) framework in the context of LEP data, Higgs data at the LHC, precision observables and the relic density of the dark matter using Bayesian statistics. Our detailed analysis reveals that …
In this article I review the consequences of radiative flavor violation (RFV) in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). In this framework the trilinear supersymmetry (SUSY)-breaking terms are the only source of flavor violation. Constraints on the parameter space come from Kaon mixing and b->s+gamma and are satisfied for SUSY masses of the order of 1 TeV. In addition, neutral Higgs penguins significantly contribute to B_s->mu^+mu^- and are capable of explaining the observed CP phase in the B_s system.
We study the effect of departures from SUSY GUT universality on the neutralino relic density and both its direct detection and indirect detection, especially by neutrino telescopes. We find that the most interesting models are those with a value of $M_3|_{GUT}$ lower than the universal case.
Can a theory of flavour capable of describing the spectrum of fermion (including neutrino) masses and mixings also contain within it the seeds for a solution of the SUSY flavour and CP problems? We argue that supergravity together with a non-Abelian family symmetry can completely resolve the SUSY flavour and CP problems in a broad class of theories in which family symmetry and CP is spontaneously broken in the flavon sector. We show that a simple superpotential structure can suppresses the F-terms of the flavons and GUT scale Higgs fields and that, if this mechanism is implemented, the resulti…
We study flavour violation in the minimal SUSY SU(5) GUT assuming all the third generation Yukawa couplings to be due to the renormalizable physics above GUT scale. At large $\tanβ,$ as suggested by Yukawa unification in SU(5), sizable flavour violation in the left (right) slepton (down squark) sector is induced due to renormalization effects of down type Yukawa couplings between GUT and Planck scales in addition to the flavour violation in the right slepton sector. The new flavour physics contribution to $K-\bar K,$ $B-\bar B$ mixing is small but might be of phenomenological interest in the c…
We show that inclusion of a TeV scale chiral superfield transforming in the adjoint representation of the color SU(3) to the MSSM particle content modifies the renormalization group running of some parameters in such a way that a 125 GeV mass of the light Higgs boson is accommodated more comfortably than in cMSSM / mSUGRA. Put differently, the introduction of a color adjoint TeV scale superfield helps resurrecting lighter choices for the stop and gluino which are otherwise disfavored in cMSSM / mSUGRA.
We review the current best fit values of Higgs boson masses in the Standard Model (SM) and its minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM) obtained from existing experimental data. We also review the parameters space of the constrained MSSM (CMSSM) and the non-universal Higgs mass model (NUHM1) currently preferred by precision data. Following a Frequentist approach, the experimental data includes electroweak precision observables, B physics observables and the relic density of cold dark matter.
We show how approximate Minimal Flavour Violation (MFV) can emerge from an SU(5) Supersymmetric Grand Unified Theory (SUSY GUT) supplemented by an S4 x U(1) family symmetry, which provides a good description of all quark and lepton (including neutrino) masses, mixings and CP violation. Assuming a SUSY breaking mechanism which respects the family symmetry, we calculate in full explicit detail the low energy mass insertion parameters in the super-CKM basis, including the effects of canonical normalisation and renormalisation group running. We find that the very simple family symmetry S4 x U(1) i…
Current data (LHC direct searches, Higgs mass, dark matter-related bounds) severely affect the constrained minimal SUSY standard model (CMSSM) with neutralinos as dark matter candidates. But the evidence for neutrino masses coming from oscillations requires extending the SM with at least right-handed neutrinos with a Dirac mass term. In turn, this implies extending the CMSSM with right-handed sneutrino superpartners, a scenario we dub $\tildeν$CMSSM. These additional states constitute alternative dark matter candidates of the superWIMP type, produced via the decay of the long-lived next-to-lig…
We study the direct CP asymmetry in B -> X_s gamma decay in SUSY models with non-universal A-terms. We show that the flavour-dependent phases of the A-terms, unlike the flavour-independent ones, can give rise too large contribution to the CP asymmetry while respecting the experimental bounds on the branching ratio of B -> X_s gamma decay and the electric dipole moments of the electron and neutron. The CP asymmetry of this decay is predicted to be much larger than the standard model prediction in a wide region of the parameter space. In particular, it can be of order 10-15% which can be accessi…
We consider sparticle decays that violate tau lepton number, motivated by neutrino oscillation data. We work in the context of the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), in which the different sleptons have identical masses at the GUT scale, and neutrino Dirac Yukawa couplings mix them. We find that the branching ratio for decay of the heavier neutralino chi_2 to chi + tau mu is enhanced when the LSP mass m_chi = m_stau_1, including the region of CMSSM parameter space where coannihilation keeps the relic chi density within the range preferred by cosmology. …
The principle of Minimal Flavour Violation (MFV) provides a natural solution to the SUSY flavour problem, but does not solve the SUSY CP problem as it allows for the presence of new CP-violating phases. If the MFV principle is generalized by the assumption of CP conservation in the limit of flavour blindness, the SUSY CP problem can be solved, predicting at the same time interesting CP violating phenomenology.
We study CP-conserving non-minimal flavour violation in $A_4 \times SU(5)$ inspired Supersymmetric Grand Unified Theories (GUTs), focussing on the regions of parameter space where dark matter is successfully accommodated due to a light right-handed smuon a few GeV heavier than the lightest neutralino. We find that it is necessary to scan over all NMFV parameters simultaneously in order to properly constrain the space of the model.
We study CP asymmetries in rare B decays within supersymmetry with a U(2)^3 flavour symmetry, motivated by the SUSY flavour and CP problems, the hierarchies in the Yukawa couplings and the absence so far of any direct evidence for SUSY. Even in the absence of flavour-blind phases, we find potentially sizable CP violating contributions to b -> s decay amplitudes. The effects in the mixing-induced CP asymmetries in B ->phi K(S) and B -> eta' K(S), angular CP asymmetries in B -> K* mu+ mu- and the direct CP asymmetry in B -> X(s) gamma can be in the region to be probed by LHCb and next generation…
Here we update the predictions for lepton flavour violating tau and muon decays, $l_j \to l_i γ$, $l_j \to 3 l_i$, and $μ-e$ conversion in nuclei. We work within a SUSY-seesaw context where the particle content of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model is extended by three right handed neutrinos plus their corresponding SUSY partners, and where a seesaw mechanism for neutrino mass generation is implemented. Two different scenarios with either universal or non-universal soft supersymmetry breaking Higgs masses at the gauge coupling unification scale are considered. After comparing the predic…
We perform an extensive study of FCNC and CP Violation within Supersymmetric (SUSY) theories with particular emphasis put on processes governed by b->s transitions and of their correlations with processes governed by b->d transitions, s->d transitions, $D^0-\bar D^0$ oscillations, lepton flavour violating decays, electric dipole moments and (g-2)_mu. We first perform a comprehensive model-independent analysis of Delta F=2 observables and we emphasize the usefulness of the R_b-gamma plane in exhibiting transparently various tensions in the present UT analyses. Secondly, we consider a number of …
