The so-called supersymmetric flavour and CP problems are deeply related to the origin of flavour and hence to the origin of the SM Yukawa couplings themselves. We show that realistic SU(3) flavour symmetries with spontaneous CP violation reproducing correctly the SM Yukawa matrices can simultaneously solve both problems without ad hoc modifications of the SUSY model. We analyze the leptonic electric dipole moments and lepton flavour violation processes in these models. We show that the electron EDM and the decay mu -> e gamma are naturally within reach of the proposed experiments if the sfermion masses are measurable at the LHC.
The SUSY flavour problem is deeply related to the origin of flavour and hence to the origin of the SM Yukawa couplings themselves. Since all CP-violation in the SM is restricted to the flavour sector, it is possible that the SUSY CP problem is related to the origin of flavour as well. In this work, we present three variations of an SU(3) flavour model with spontaneous CP violation. Such models explain the hierarchy in the fermion masses and mixings, and predict the structure of the flavoured soft SUSY breaking terms. In such a situation, both SUSY flavour and CP problems do not exist. We use e…
Although $SO(10)$ Supersymmetric (SUSY) Grand Unification Theories (GUTs) are very attractive for neutrino mass and mixing, it is often quite difficult to achieve successful leptogenesis from the lightest right-handed neutrino $N_1$ due to the strong relations between neutrino and up-type quark Yukawa couplings. We show that in a realistic model these constraints are relaxed, making $N_1$ leptogenesis viable. To illustrate this, we calculate the baryon asymmetry of the Universe $ Y_B $ from flavoured $ N_1 $ leptogenesis in a recently proposed $ Δ(27) \times SO(10) $ SUSY GUT. The flavoured Bo…
A non-Abelian flavour symmetry in a minimal supersymmetric standard model can explain the flavour structures in the Yukawa couplings and simultaneously solve the SUSY flavour problem. Similarly the SUSY CP problem can be solved if CP is spontaneously broken in the flavour sector. In this work, we present an explicit example of these statements with a SU(3) flavour symmetry and spontaneous CP violation. In addition, we show that it is still possible to find some significant deviation from the SM expectations as far as FCNC and CP violation are concerned. We find that large contributions can be …
Supersymmetric left-right models are well motivated extensions of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model since they automatically contain the ingredients to explain the observed neutrino masses and mixings. Here we study a SUSY model in which the left-right symmetry is broken by triplets at a high scale leading to automatic R-parity conservation at low energies. The sparticle spectra in this model differ from the usual constrained MSSM expectations and these changes affect the relic abundance of the lightest neutralino. We discuss two examples: (1) the standard stau co-annihilation region, …
The current 7 TeV run of the LHC experiment shall be able to probe gluino and squark masses up to values of about 1 TeV. Assuming that hints for SUSY are found by the end of a 2 fb$^{-1}$ run, we explore the flavour constraints on the parameter space of the CMSSM, with and without massive neutrinos. In particular, we focus on decays that might have been measured by the time the run is concluded, such as $B_s\toμμ$ and $μ\to eγ$. We also briefly show the impact such a collider--flavour interplay would have on a Flavoured CMSSM.
The existing estimation of the Electric Dipole Moment(EDM) of the neutron in the SUSY SU(5) GUT model was quite smaller than one in the MSSM, despite of its increased degree of freedom. This paradoxical result can be resolved by appropriately estimating the CP-violation in the Higgs sector. As a result, the neutron EDM in this model is estimated lager than the existing one as expected.
We show that an intermediate gauge symmetry breaking scale can be a significant source of electric dipole moments for the electron and neutron in supersymmetric grand unified theories. New phases, similar to that of the CKM matrix, appear which do not arise from the supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking operators. To illustrate, we choose some grand unified SUSY models having an intermediate gauge symmetry breaking scale with some attractive features. We also show how well the $b-τ$ unification hypothesis works in this class of models.
We show how an intermediate gauge symmetry breaking scale can be a source of lepton flavor violation and EDM of electron and neutron in SUSY GUTs. The Universal soft supersymmetry breaking operators can be introduced at the GUT scale or above.
The SUSY CP problem in the framework of gauge mediated SUSY breaking model is considered. We first discuss the electric dipole moments of the electron and neutron, which are likely to be larger than the experimental upper bound if all the phases in the Lagrangian are O(1). We derive a constraint on the phases in the so-called $μ$- and $B_μ$-parameters and gaugino masses. Then, we discuss a model in which the CP violating phase can be adequately suppressed. If the $μ$- and $B_μ$-parameters originate from the same superpotential interaction as the SUSY breaking field, the CP violating phase vani…
Current and upcoming experiments should improve the sensitivity to radiative lepton decays by an order of magnitude. This paper assumes that one of the tau --> (e, mu) gamma decays is observed, and explores the structure and consequences of the required new flavoured couplings. In simple models (a low-scale seesaw, leptoquarks) it is shown that the dipole vertex function is proportional to a product of flavoured matrices from the Lagrangian (a "Jarlskog-like" invariant), provided that the loop particles are weakly coupled to the Higgs. Secondly, if the dipole vertex function has a hierarchical…
The current 7 TeV run of the LHC experiment shall be able to probe gluino and squark masses up to values larger than 1 TeV. Assuming that hints for SUSY are found in the jets plus missing energy channel by the end of a 5 fb$^{-1}$ run, we explore the flavour constraints on three models with a CMSSM-like spectrum: the CMSSM itself, a Seesaw extension of the CMSSM, and Flavoured CMSSM. In particular, we focus on decays that might have been measured by the time the run is concluded, such as $B_s\toμμ$ and $μ\to eγ$. We also analyse constraints imposed by neutral meson bounds and electric dipole m…
By using the anomalous magnetic and electric dipole moments of the $τ$ lepton in an effective lagrangian approach to the new physics, we investigate the lepton flavor violation (LFV) decays, $l\to l'γ$, and $μ,τ$ anomalous magnetic and electric dipole moments in a lepton mass matrices ansatz which induced by SUSY GUT. We put very stringent constraints LFV decays and $τ$ anomalous magnetic and electric dipole moments.
We study the possibility to determine the supersymmetric (SUSY) contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment by using ILC measurements of the properties of superparticles. Assuming that the contribution is as large as the current discrepancy between the result of the Brookhaven E821 experiment and the standard-model prediction, we discuss how and how accurately the SUSY contribution can be reconstructed. We will show that, in a sample point, the reconstruction can be performed with the accuracy of ~ 13 % with the center-of-mass energy 500 GeV and the integrated luminosity ~ 500-10…
Recent results from the LHC experiments, both for the Higgs mass measurement and the direct search for supersymmetric (SUSY) particles, might indicate that the SUSY breaking scale is much higher than the electroweak scale. Although it is difficult to investigate such a scenario at collider experiments, the measurement of the hadronic electric dipole moments is one of promising ways to detect the effects of the SUSY particles. These effects are expressed in terms of the CP-violating effective operators defined at the SUSY breaking scale, which involve quarks, gluons, photons, and gluinos. In th…
In low energy SUSY theories exchange of gluino and squark with left-right mixing can produce a large gluonic dipole interaction. In this paper we study the effects of this interaction on $B\to K π$ using QCD improved factorization method. The Standard Model predicts a smaller branching ratio for $B^0 \to \bar K^0 π^0$ than experimental measured one. We find that within the parameter space allowed from $B\to γX_s$ constraint, the SUSY dipole interaction can enhance this branching ratio to agree with the experimental measurement. Combining recent data for all the four $\bar B^0 \to K^- π^+, \bar…
The electric dipole moments (EDMs) of electron and nucleons are promising probes of the new physics. In generic high-scale supersymmetric (SUSY) scenarios such as models based on mixture of the anomaly and gauge mediations, gluino has an additional contribution to the nucleon EDMs. In this paper, we studied the effect of the $CP$-violating gluon Weinberg operator induced by the gluino chromoelectric dipole moment in the high-scale SUSY scenarios, and we evaluated the nucleon and electron EDMs in the scenarios. We found that in the generic high-scale SUSY models, the nucleon EDMs may receive th…
We calculate the weak magnetic dipole moment of different fermions in the MSSM. In particular, we consider in detail the predictions for the WMDM of the tau lepton and bottom quark. We compare the purely SUSY contributions with two Higss doublet models and SM predictions. For the tau lepton, we show that chargino diagrams give the main SUSY contribution, which for tan beta=50 can be one order of magnitude bigger than the SM prediction. For the b quark, gluino diagrams provide the main SUSY contribution to its weak anomalous dipole moment, which is still dominated by gluon contributions. We als…
In this talk I discuss some aspects of the study of electric dipole moments (EDMs) of the fermions, in the context of R-parity violating (\rpv) Supersymmetry (SUSY). I will start with a brief general discussion of how dipole moments, in general, serve as a probe of physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) and an even briefer summary of \rpv SUSY. I will follow by discussing a general method of analysis for obtaining the leading fermion mass dependence of the dipole moments and present its application to \rpv SUSY case. Then I will summarise the constraints that the analysis of $e,n$ and $Hg$ EDM…
The electric dipole moment of the neutron (EDMN) is re-examined in a general framework of the soft supersymmetry breaking. We point out some features of the relation between the EDMN and non-universal soft supersymmetry breaking terms. We give the constraints on the soft scalar masses and the soft CP phases, which have the rather large dependence on the non-universality of the soft breaking terms. We also show that the soft CP phase $ϕ_B$ which has no natural suppression mechanism may not have large contribution to the EDMN in a certain parameter region where the radiative symmetry breaking oc…
We report on a study of CP Violation in D0-D0bar mixing and Electric Dipole Moments in the framework of supersymmetric alignment models. Both classes of observables are strongly suppressed in the Standard Model and highly sensitive to new sources of flavor and CP violation that can be present in models of New Physics. Supersymmetric alignment models generically predict large non-standard effects in D0-D0bar mixing and we show that visible CP violation in D0-D0bar mixing implies lower bounds for the EDMs of hadronic systems, like the neutron EDM and the mercury EDM, in the reach of future exper…
We investigate the lower bounds of sfermion masses from the constraints of chromoelectric dipole moments (CEDMs) in the natural SUSY-type sfermion mass spectrum, in which stop mass $m_{\tilde t}$ is much smaller than the other sfermion masses $m_0$. The natural SUSY-type sfermion mass spectrum has been studied since the supersymmetric (SUSY) flavor-changing neutral currents (FCNC) are suppressed because of large sfermion masses of the first two generations, and the weak scale is stabilized because of the light stop. However, this type of sfermion mass spectrum is severely constrained by CEDM, …
Unless squarks and sleptons are in the multi-TeV region or above, CP violating induced electric dipole moments of elementary particles can pose significant puzzles for supersymmetric (SUSY) models. We study the dipole-moment-inducing one-loop amplitudes as a function of the fundamental SUSY parameters and show that these puzzles are removed if there is a sufficiently large hierarchy between the gaugino masses and the scalar mass. We comment on the experimental status of the low gaugino mass scenario.
We discuss electric dipole moments (EDMs) in the framework of CP-violating natural supersymmetry (SUSY). Recent experimental results have significantly tightened constraints on the EDMs of electrons and of mercury, and substantial further progress is expected in the near future. We assess how these results constrain the parameter space of natural SUSY. In addition to our discussion of SUSY, we provide a set of general formulas for two-loop fermion EDMs, which can be applied to a wide range of models of new physics. In the SUSY context, the two-loop effects of stops and charginos respectively c…
We examine the cancellation mechanism between the different contributions to the electric dipole moment of the neutron in a model with dilaton-dominated SUSY breaking. We find these accidental cancellations occur at few points in parameter space. For a wide region of this space we must constrain the phase of $μ$ to be of order $10^{-1}$ and have the phases of $A$ and $μ$ strongly correlated in order to have small neutron EDM. Moreover, we consider the indirect CP violation parameter $ε$ in this region where the electric dipole moment is less than the experimental limit and find that we can gen…
The SUSY CP problem is one of serious problems in construction of realistic supersymmetric standard models. We consider the problem in a framework in which adjoint chiral multiplets are introduced and gauginos have Dirac mass terms induced by a U(1) gauge interaction in the hidden sector. This is realized in hidden sector models without singlet chiral multiplets, which are favored from a recent study of the Polonyi problem. We find that the dominant contributions to electron and neutron electric dipole moments (EDMs) in the model come from phases in the supersymmetric adjoint mass terms. When …
We calculate the electric dipole moments (EDM) of the neutral Hg(199) atom, neutron and deuteron within a generic R-parity violating SUSY model (RPV SUSY) on the basis of a one-pion exchange model with CP-odd pion-nucleon interactions. We consider two types of the RPV SUSY contributions to the above hadronic EDMs: via the quark chromoelectric dipole moments (CEDM) and CP-violating 4-quark interactions. We demonstrate that the former contributes to all the three studied EDMs while the latter appears only in the nuclear EDMs via the CP-odd nuclear forces. We find that the RPV SUSY induced 4-quar…
We study the muon magnetic dipole moment and the Higgs mass in the framework of the supersymmetric SU(5) models. In this analysis, all the relevant parameters in the Lagrangian are taken to be free; in particular, assumption of the universal scalar mass is not adopted. Negative search for the Higgs boson at the LEP II experiment sets an important constraint on the supersymmetric contribution to the muon magnetic dipole moment a_μ(SUSY). It is shown that, for a fixed value of the lightest Higgs mass, the maximum possible value of a_μ(SUSY) becomes significantly larger in the general SU(5) case …
We study the effect of SUSY phases on rare decays of leptons and on their magnetic and electric dipole moments. We consider the most general mass matrices for sleptons within the MSSM including left--right mixing, flavour mixing and complex phases. We show that the phases also affect CP even observables. Moreover, we demonstrate that contrary to common belief the phase of mu can be large even for slepton masses as small as 200 GeV provided the lepton flavour violating parameters are complex.
The electron electric dipole moment (d_e) and the muon magnetic moment anomaly (a_μ) recently observed at BNL are analyzed within the framework of SUGRA models with CP violating phases at the GUT scale. It is seen analytically that even if d_e were zero, there can be a large Bino mass phase (ranging from 0 to 2 π) with a corresponding large B soft breaking mass phase (of size ~< 0.5 with sign fixed by the experimental sign of a_μ). The dependence of the B phase on the other SUSY parameters, gaugino mass m_{1/2}, \tan β, A_0, is examined. The lower bound of a_μ determines the upper bound of m_{…
A brief overview is given of recent developments in the analyses of large phases and CP violation in supersymmetric unified models. The problem of experimental electric dipole moment constraints and large phases is discussed. Implications of large phases on supersymmetric phenomena are reviewed. The possibility of generating a muon electric dipole moment much larger than implied by the scaling relation $d_μ/d_e\simeq m_μ/m_e$ from lepton flavor nonuniversality and within reach of the recently proposed Brookhaven experiment for a sensitive probe of $d_μ$ is also discussed.
We estimate contributions of the goldstino supermultiplet to the electric dipole moment (EDM) in the case that the SUSY breaking scale Λ_S is of order the TeV scale. We found that such contributions can saturate the experimental bound if Λ_S is close to the soft mass scale. We also discuss EDM in the gaugino mediated scenario on the warped geometry as an example of models with the TeV-scale SUSY breaking.
The dark matter abundance plays a crucial role in the determination of the valid parameter space of models both in the case of a discovery of dark matter and in the context of exclusion limits. Reliable theoretical predictions of the dark matter relic density require technically demanding precision calculations, which were so far limited in their automation due to challenges in the treatment of infrared divergences appearing in higher order calculations. In particular, massive initial states need to be considered in early Universe computations, so that the known dipole subtraction methods coul…
Left-right symmetric extensions of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model can explain neutrino data and have potentially interesting phenomenology beyond that found in minimal SUSY seesaw models. Here we study a SUSY model in which the left-right symmetry is broken by triplets at a high scale, but significantly below the GUT scale. Sparticle spectra in this model differ from the usual constrained MSSM expectations and these changes affect the relic abundance of the lightest neutralino. We discuss changes for the standard stau (and stop) co-annihilation, the Higgs funnel and the focus point …
The CP violating electric and weak dipole moment form factors of the top quark, $\dgs$ and $\dzs$, appear in the process \mbox{$e^{+}e^{-} \to t \bar{t}$}. We present a complete analysis of these dipole moment formfactors within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with complex parameters. We include gluino, chargino, and neutralino exchange in the loop of the \mbox{$γt\bar{t}$} and \mbox{$Z t\bar{t}$} vertex. We give analytic expressions and present numerical results for the asymmetries that measure these formfactors.
We reexamine large CP-violating phases in the general Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, as well as more restricted models. We perform a detailed scan over parameter space to find solutions which satisfy the current experimental limits on the electric dipole moments of the electron, neutron and $^{199}$Hg atom, exploring the allowed configurations of phases and masses, and we attempt to quantify the level of tuning of the parameters necessary to populate the regions of cancellations. We then consider the measurement of CP-violating phases at a future linear collider. We find that measureme…
Non-universality in the soft breaking terms is a common feature in most superstring inspired SUSY models. This property is required to obtain sizeable CP violation effects from SUSY and, on the other hand, can be used to avoid the Electric Dipole Moment constraints. We take advantage of these qualities and explore a class of SUSY models based on type I string theory where scalar masses, gaugino masses and trilinear couplings are non-universal. In this framework, we show that, in the presence of large SUSY phases, the bounds on the Electric Dipole Moments can be controled without fine-tuning. A…
The experimental limit on the neutron electric dipole moment is used as a possible probe of new physics beyond the standard model. Within MSSM we use the current experimental limit on the neutron EDM and possible future improvement as a probe of high scale SUSY. Quantitative analyses show that scalar masses as large as a PeV and larger could be probed in improved experiment far above the scales accessible at future colliders. We also discuss the neutron EDM as a probe of new physics models beyond MSSM. Specifically we consider an MSSM extension with a particle content including a vectorlike mu…
The correlation between the CP asymmetry in $B\to ϕK_s$ ($S_{ϕK_s}$) and the chromoelectric dipole moment (CEDM) of strange quark ($d_s^C$), which is constrained by the electric dipole moment (EDM) of $^{199}$Hg, is studied in the supersymmetric (SUSY) models with the right-handed squark mixing. It is known that, if the right-handed bottom and strange squarks have a CP-violating mixing, such as in the SUSY SU(5) GUT with right-handed neutrinos, the induced gluon-penguin diagram may give a sizable contribution to $S_{ϕK_s}$. However, when the left-handed bottom and strange squarks also have a m…
The publicly available package for an automated dipole subtraction, AutoDipole, is extended to include the SUSY dipoles in the MSSM. All fields in the SM and the MSSM are available. The code is checked against the analytical expressions for a simple process. The extended package makes it possible to compute the QCD NLO corrections to SUSY multi-parton processes like the stop pair production plus jets at the LHC.
We study CP-violating effects in $B\to ψK_{s}$ decay within minimal supersymmetric models with spontaneous CP-violation. We find that the CP-asymmetry predicted by the Standard Model in this decay, $\sin 2β\geq 0.4$, cannot be accommodated in these models without violating the bound on the neutron electric dipole moment. This result holds for NMSSM-like models with an arbitrary number of sterile superfields. Further implications of the scenario are discussed.
We point out that the null results of the hadronic electric dipole moment (EDM) searches constrain orbifold grand unified theories (GUTs), where the GUT symmetry and supersymmetry (SUSY) are both broken by boundary conditions in extra dimensions and it leads to rich fermion and sfermion flavor structures. A marginal chromoelectric dipole moment (CEDM) of the up quark is induced by the misalignment between the CP violating left- and right-handed up-type squark mixings, in contrast to the conventional four-dimensional SUSY GUTs. The up quark CEDM constraint is found to be as strong as those from…
SUSY CP problem in the gauge mediation supersymmetry breaking model is reconsidered. We pay particular attention to two sources of CP violating phases whose effects were not seriously studied before; one is the effect of the breaking of the GUT relation among the gaugino masses due to the field esponsible for the GUT symmetry breaking, and the other is the supergravity effect on the supersymmetry breaking parameters, in particular, on the bi-linear supersymmetry breaking Higgs mass term. We show that both of them can induce too large electric dipole moments of electron, neutron, and so on, to …
The supersymmetric left-right (SUSYLR) models solve several of the unnaturalness problems of the MSSM such as the R-parity and SUSY CP problems. If further the $W_R$ mass is in the TeV range, then it also provides a solution to the strong CP problem without the need for an axion. A crucial prediction of this model is the electric dipole moment of the neutron $\simeq 10^{-25}-10^{-26}$ ecm arising from the one loop contribution to the strong CP parameter $\bar{theta}$. Other predictions of the model are a light doubly charged Higgs boson and its fermionic partner with masses in the several hund…
Supersymmetric contributions to the neutron electric dipole moment (EDM) are studied taking account of the flavor changing interactions. We found that the gluino contribution is sensitive to the flavor changing interaction. Enhancement of neutron EDM via flavor mixing effects is possible when the squark mass difference between the different generations is sizable. As an example, the results of the SUSY SU(5) GUT with right-handed neutrinos are briefly discussed.
We study the direct CP asymmetry in B -> X_s gamma decay in SUSY models with non-universal A-terms. We show that the flavour-dependent phases of the A-terms, unlike the flavour-independent ones, can give rise too large contribution to the CP asymmetry while respecting the experimental bounds on the branching ratio of B -> X_s gamma decay and the electric dipole moments of the electron and neutron. The CP asymmetry of this decay is predicted to be much larger than the standard model prediction in a wide region of the parameter space. In particular, it can be of order 10-15% which can be accessi…
We study CP asymmetries in two-body decays of top squarks into neutralinos and sleptons at the LHC. These asymmetries are used to probe the CP phases possibly present in the stop and neutralino sector of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Taking into account bounds from experimental electric dipole moment searches, we identify areas in the mSUGRA parameter space where CP asymmetries can be sizeable and discuss the feasibility of their observation at the LHC. As a result, potentially detectable CP asymmetries in stop decays at the LHC are found, motivating further detailed experimental …
CP violating dipole moments of leptons vanish at least to three loop order and are estimated to be $({m_l\over Mev})\times 1.6\times 10^{- 40}$ e-cm in the standard model (SM), where $m_l$ is the mass of the lepton. However they can receive potentially large contributions in some beyond SM scenarios and this makes them very sensitive probes of new physics. In this article we show that a non universal interaction, involving leptoquarks to the quark-lepton pair of the third generation through helicity unsuppressed couplings of the order of ordinary gauge couplings, can generate electric and weak…
We address the constraints on the SUSY seesaw parameters arising from Lepton Flavour Violation observables. Working in the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model extended by three right-handed (s)neutrinos, we study the predictions for the branching ratios of $l_j \to l_i γ$ and $l_j \to 3 l_i$ channels. We impose compatibility with neutrino data, electric dipole moment bounds, and further require a successful baryon asymmetry of the Universe (via thermal leptogenesis). We emphasise the interesting interplay between $θ_{13}$ and the LFV muon decays, pointing out the hints on the SUS…
The SUSY contribution to the muon magnetic moment anomaly, a_mu^SUGRA, and the electron electric dipole moment, d_e, is discussed within the framework of a modified mSUGRA model where the magnitudes of the soft breaking masses are universal, but arbitrary phases are allowed. It is shown analytically how the cancellation mechanism can allow for large phases (i.e. theta_B <~ 0.4) and still suppress the value of d_e below its current experimental bound. The dependence of a_mu^SUGRA on the CP violating phases are analytically examined, and seen to decrease it but by at most a factor of about two. …
Though the mass of Higgs particle is the parameter determined by the experiment in the standard model (SM), SUSY models have rather predictive power for the lightest Higgs mass, and its upper bound in some SUSY models are close to the observable region in LEP2. The upper bound of the lightest Higgs mass is analysed systematically on the basis of the $CP$ violation in the minimal and the next minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM and NMSSM). In the explicit $CP$ violation case, the mass bound is large around $130 \sim 160$ GeV in both models. In the spontaneous $CP$ violation case induced…
We analyse the electric dipole moment of the neutron in the MSSM, induced by the renormalisation of the soft-susy breaking terms. We run the RGEs using two-loop expressions for gauge and Yukawa couplings and retaining family dependence. The $μ$ and $B$ parameters were determined by minimising the full one-loop Higgs potential, and we find that the neutron EDM lies in the range $10^{-33}<|d_n| < 10^{-29} {\; e\;\mbox{cm}} $.
The electric dipole moment of an electron (EDME) is investigated in the supersymmetric extra U(1) models. Neutralino sector is generally extended in these models and then the neutralino contribution will be important for the analysis of the EDME. Kinetic term mixings of abelian gauginos are taken into account in our analysis. Numerical results for the extra U(1) models show that the EDME can be affected by the extra U(1) in a certain range of soft supersymmetry breaking parameters even if the extra U(1) gauge boson is heavy. The EDME may be a clue to find an extended gauge structure in the sup…
The SM predictions for CP violating effects in D meson systems are highly suppressed at the per mill level. Therefore, any experimental evidence for a sizable CP violation in D0-D0bar mixing would unambiguously point towards a New Physics (NP) signal. Within supersymmetric scenarios, the popular alignment models can naturally account for large, non-standard effects in D0-D0bar mixing. We demonstrate that, within alignment models, detectable CP violating effects in D0-D0bar mixing would unambiguously imply a lower bound for the electric dipole moment (EDM) of hadronic systems, like the neutron …
It is well known that supersymmetry (SUSY) gives neutron and electron electric dipole moments ($d_n$ and $d_e$) which are too large by about $10^{3}$. If we assume a SUSY model cannot contain fine-tunings or large mass scales, then one must require that the SUSY breaking mechanism give real soft breaking parameters, in which case the minimal SUSY model has no $CP$ violation other than from the CKM matrix (besides possible strong $CP$ violating effects). We show that in non-minimal SUSY models, a moderate amount of $CP$ violation can be induced through one loop corrections to the scalar potenti…
We discuss the characteristic low energy phenomenological implications of an SU(5) Supersymmetric Grand Unified Theory (SUSY GUT) whose flavour structure is controlled by the family symmetry S4 x U(1), which provides a good description of all quark and lepton masses, mixings as well as CP violation. Although the model closely mimics Minimal Flavour Violation (MFV) as shown in arXiv:1511.07886, here we focus on the differences. We first present numerical estimates of the low energy mass insertion parameters, including canonical normalisation and renormalisation group running, for well-defined r…
We analyze CP violation in the supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) embedded minimally into a left-right symmetric gauge structure with the seesaw mechanism for neutrino masses. With the plausible assumption of universal scalar masses it is shown that CP violation in the hadron sector of the MSSM is described by a single phase residing in the supersymmetry breaking Lagrangian. This improves the CP properties of the MSSM by providing a natural solution to the SUSY CP problem. Furthermore, $ε'/ε$ vanishes in this model above the seesaw scale; extrapolation to the weak scale then leads to a predi…
We address the following question. Take the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM) with the two CP violating SUSY phases different from zero, and neglect the bound coming from the electric dipole moment of the neutron (EDM): is it possible to fully account for CP violation in the kaon and B systems using only the SUSY contributions with vanishing CKM phase? We show that the ${BR}(B\to X_{s} γ)$ constraint, though CP conserving, forces a negative answer to the above question. This implies that, even in the regions of the CMSSM where a cancellation of different contributions t…
We suppose that the baryon asymmetry is produced by thermal leptogenesis (with flavour effects), at temperatures $\sim 10^{9} - 10^{10}$ GeV, in the supersymmetric seesaw with universal and real soft terms. The parameter space is restricted by assuming that $l_α\to l_βγ$ processes will be seen in upcoming experiments. We study the sensitivity of the baryon asymmetry to the phases of the lepton mixing matrix, and find that leptogenesis can work for any value of the phases. We also estimate the contribution to the electric dipole moment of the electron, arising from the seesaw, and find that it …
We calculate the one loop corrections to the chromomagnetic dipole moment of the top quark in the framework of the Standard Model, the two Higgs doublet model and the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. In the Standard Model we consider the QCD and the electroweak corrections generated by gluon and Higgs boson exchanges, respectively. In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, we calculate the SUSY- QCD corrections, including the mixing effects between the stop coming from the left- and right-handed sectors. We obtain that the Standard Model contribution is of the order of -0.004< delta …
In order to satisfy current FCNC and CP violation bounds, SUSY flavour structures cannot be generic. An interesting solution to these SUSY Flavour and CP Problems lies on the use of an SU(3) family symmetry which spontaneously breaks CP symmetry. Typical observables of such a model are electric dipole moments and LFV processes. In addition, these models can give contributions to CP violation in neutral meson mixing. We show how the latter can be used to restrict the allowed SUSY parameter space, and induce correlations between LFV and EDM predictions.
