The Dirac oscillator coupled to an external two-component field can retain its solvability, if couplings are appropriately chosen. This provides a new class of integrable systems. A simplified way of solution is given, by recasting the known solution of the Dirac oscillator into matrix form; there one notices, that a block-diagonal form arises in a Hamiltonian formulation. The blocks are two-dimensional. Choosing couplings that do not affect the block structure, these just blow up the $2 \times 2$ matrices to $4 \times 4 $ matrices, thus conserving solvability. The result can be cast again in covariant form. By way of example we apply this exact solution to calculate the evolution of entanglement.
A new exactly solvable relativistic periodic potential is obtained by the periodic extension of a well-known transparent scalar potential. It is found that the energy band edges are determined by a transcendental equation which is very similar to the corresponding equation for the Dirac Kronig-Penney model. The solutions of the Dirac equation are expressed in terms of elementary functions.
A time-dependent unitary (canonical) transformation is found which maps the Hamiltonian for a harmonic oscillator with time-dependent real mass and real frequency to that of a generalized harmonic oscillator with time-dependent real mass and imaginary frequency. The latter may be reduced to an ordinary harmonic oscillator by means of another unitary (canonical) transformation. A simple analysis of the resulting system leads to the identification of a previously unknown class of exactly solvable time-dependent oscillators. Furthermore, it is shown how one can apply these results to establish a …
The Dirac equation is considered in the background of potentials of several types, namely scalar and vector-potentials as well as "Dirac-oscillator" potential or some of its generalisations. We investigate the radial Dirac equation within a quite general spherically symmetric form for these potentials and we analyse some exactly and quasi exactly solvable properties of the underlying matricial linear operators.
A massless Dirac particle is considered, moving along the x-axis while Pauli-coupled by its anomalous magnetic moment to a piecewise constant magnetic field along the same axis, with stochastically varying sign. The motion is approximated as a quantum walk with unitary noise, for which the evolution can be found exactly. Initially ballistic, the motion approaches a classical diffusion on a time-scale determined by the speed of light, the size of the magnetic moment, the strength of the field and the time interval between changes in its direction. It is suggested that a process of this type cou…
We analyze the one-dimensional Dirac oscillator in a thermal bath. We found that the heat capacity is two times greater than the heat capacity of the one-dimensional harmonic oscillator for higher temperatures.
The generalized Dirac oscillator as one of the exact solvable model in quantum mechanics was introduced in 2+1-dimensional world in this paper. What is more, the general expressions of the exact solutions for these models with the inverse cubic, quartic, quintic and sixtic power potentials in radial Dirac equation were further given by means of the Bethe ansatz method. And finally, the corresponding exact solutions in this paper were further discussed.
The two-dimensional hydrogen with a linear potential in a magnetic field is solved by two different methods. Furthermore the connection between the model and an anharmonic oscillator had been investigated by methods of KS transformation.
A nonpolynomial one-dimensional quantum potential representing an oscillator, that can be considered as placed in the middle between the harmonic oscillator and the isotonic oscillator (harmonic oscillator with a centripetal barrier), is studied. First the general case, that depends of a parameter $a$, is considered and then a particular case is studied with great detail. It is proven that it is Schrödinger solvable and then the wave functions $Ψ_n$ and the energies $E_n$ of the bound states are explicitly obtained. Finally it is proven that the solutions determine a family of orthogonal polyn…
We show that 2+1 dimensional Dirac oscillators in an external magnetic field is mapped onto the same with reduced angular frequency in absence of magnetic field. This can be used to study the atomic transitions in a radiation field. Relativistic Landau levels are constructed explicitly. Several interesting features of this system are discussed.
In this work, we study the Aharonov-Casher effect in the $(2+1)$-dimensional Dirac oscillator coupled to an external electromagnetic field. We set up our system in two different scenarios: in the Minkowski spacetime and the cosmic string spacetime. In both cases, we solve exactly the Dirac oscillator and we determine the energy spectrum and the eigenfunctions for the bound states. We verify that in the Minkowski spacetime, the Dirac oscillator spectrum depends linearly on the strength of the magnetic field $B$, and on the Aharonov-Casher phase. In addition, we explicitly obtain the corrections…
The stationary Schroedinger equation of the harmonic oscillator is deformed by a Darboux transformation to construct time-dependent potentials with the oscillator profile. The Darboux (supersymmetric or factorization) method is usually developed in the spatial variables of the Schroedinger equation. Here we follow a variation introduced by Bagrov, Samsonov and Shekoyan to include the time-variable as a parameter of the transformation.
We investigate the feasibility of performing quantum non-demolition (QND) measurements in relativistic quantum systems, using the one-dimensional Dirac oscillator as a specific example. We derive general expressions for its QND observables and find that they are intricate combinations of the position, momentum, and spin operators, which makes them challenging to realize experimentally in general. However, the situation is considerably simplified in both the weakly and strongly relativistic limits, where their experimental realization will be possible.
Below we study theoretically and numerically the asymptotics of the algebraic part of the spectrum for the quasi-exactly solvable sextic potential, its level crossing points, and its monodromy in the complex plane of its parameter. We also discuss connection between the quasi-exactly solvable sextic and the classical quartic potential.
A special class of Dirac-Pauli equations with time-like vector potentials of external field is investigated. A new exactly solvable relativistic model describing anomalous interaction of a neutral Dirac fermion with a cylindrically symmetric external e.m. field is presented. The related external field is a superposition of the electric field generated by a charged infinite filament and the magnetic field generated by a straight line current. In non-relativistic approximation the considered model is reduced to the integrable Pron'ko-Stroganov model.
The importance of the energy spectrum of bound states and their restrictions in quantum mechanics due to the different methods have been used for calculating and determining the limit of them. Comparison of Schrodinger-like equation obtained by Dirac equation with the non-relativistic solvable models is the most efficient methods. By this technique, the exact relativistic solutions of Dirac equation for Hartmann and Ring-Shaped oscillator potentials are accessible, when the scalar potential equals to the vector potential. Using solvable non-relativistic quantum mechanics systems as a basic mod…
The effect of the minimal length on the thermal properties of a Dirac oscillator is considered. The canonical partition function is well determined by using the method based on Zeta Epstein function. Through this function, all thermodynamics properties, such as the free energy, the total energy, the entropy, and the specific heat, have been determined. Moreover, this study allows us to calculate the values of minimal length \triangle x=\hbar\sqrtβ for some fermionic particles.
We construct nonlinear coherent states or f-deformed coherent states for a nonpolynomial nonlinear oscillator which can be considered as placed in the middle between the harmonic oscillator and the isotonic oscillator (Cariñena J F et al, J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 41, 085301 (2008)). The deformed annihilation and creation operators which are required to construct the nonlinear coherent states in the number basis are obtained from the solution of the Schrödinger equation. Using these operators, we construct generalized intelligent states, nonlinear coherent states, Gazeau-Klauder coherent states…
The idea of adaptive perturbation theory is to divide a Hamiltonian into a solvable part and a perturbation part. The solvable part contains the non-interacting sector and the diagonal elements of Fock space from the interacting terms. The perturbed term is the non-diagonal sector of Fock space. Therefore, the perturbation parameter is not coupling constant. This is different from the standard procedure of previous perturbation method. In this letter, we use the adaptive perturbation theory to extract the solvable elements in the strongly coupled double harmonic oscillator system and obtain th…
Combining recent results on rational solutions of the Riccati-Schrödinger equations for shape invariant potentials to the finite difference Bäcklund algorithm and specific symmetries of the isotonic potential, we show that it is possible to generate the three infinite sets (L1, L2 and L3 families) of regular rational solvable extensions of this potential in a very direct and transparent way.
We study the quantum behaviour of a particle moving in a one-dimensional double well potential. This double well is obtained by gluing together, at the origin, two shifted harmonic oscillator potentials. The Schrödinger equation is exactly solvable. The requirement that discontinuities, in the wavefunction and its first derivative, are absent at the origin, leads to the quantisation of the energy eigenvalues. We also show that oscillations in time take place between two nearby single harmonic oscillator ground states. Finally, the double well potential is augmented by a Dirac delta-function po…
We show how the recently discovered solvable rational extensions of Harmonic Oscillator and Morse potentials can be constructed in a direct and systematic way, without the need of supersymmetry, shape invariance, Darboux-Crum and Darboux-Bäcklund transformations
We show that (2+1) dimensional noncommutative Dirac oscillator in an external magnetic field is mapped onto the same but with reduced angular frequency in absence of magnetic field. We construct the relativistic Landau levels by solving corresponding Dirac equation in (2+1) dimensional noncommutative phase space. We observe that lowest Landau levels are exactly same as in commutative space and independent of non-commutative parameter. All the Landau levels become independent of noncommutative parameter for a critical value of the magnetic field. Several other interesting features along with th…
We introduce a new family of quasi-exactly solvable generalized isotonic oscillators which are based on the pseudo-Hermite exceptional orthogonal polynomials. We obtain exact closed-form expressions for the energies and wavefunctions as well as the allowed potential parameters for the first two members of the family using the Bethe ansatz method. Numerical calculations of the energies reveal that member potentials have multiple quasi-exactly solvable eigenstates and the number of states for higher members are parameter dependent.
The O(N) invariant quartic anharmonic oscillator is shown to be exactly solvable if the interaction parameter satisfies special conditions. The problem is directly related to that of a quantum double well anharmonic oscillator in an external field. A finite dimensional matrix equation for the problem is constructed explicitly, along with analytical expressions for some excited states in the system. The corresponding Niven equations for determining the polynomial solutions for the problem are given.
We consider two three-dimensional isotropic harmonic oscillators interacting with the quantum electromagnetic field in the Coulomb gauge and within dipole approximation. Using a Bogoliubov-like transformation, we can obtain transformed operators such that the Hamiltonian of the system, when expressed in terms of these operators, assumes a diagonal form. We are also able to obtain an expression for the energy shift of the ground state, which is valid at all orders in the coupling constant. From this energy shift the nonperturbative Casimir-Polder potential energy between the two oscillators can…
The symmetrized quartic polynomial oscillator is shown to admit an sl(2,$\R$) algebraization. Some simple quasi-exactly solvable (QES) solutions are exhibited. A new symmetrized sextic polynomial oscillator is introduced and proved to be QES by explicitly deriving some exact, closed-form solutions by resorting to the functional Bethe ansatz method. Such polynomial oscillators include two categories of QES potentials: the first one containing the well-known analytic sextic potentials as a subset, and the second one of novel potentials with no counterpart in such a class.
We suggest the exactly solvable model of the oscillator on a four-dimensional hyperboloid which interacts with a SU(2) instanton. We calculate its wavefunctions and spectrum.
This Letter is based on the $κ$-Dirac equation, derived from the $κ$-Poincaré-Hopf algebra. It is shown that the $κ$-Dirac equation preserves parity while breaks charge conjugation and time reversal symmetries. Introducing the Dirac oscillator prescription, $\mathbf{p}\to\mathbf{p}-imωβ\mathbf{r}$, in the $κ$-Dirac equation, one obtains the $κ$-Dirac oscillator. Using a decomposition in terms of spin angular functions, one achieves the deformed radial equations, with the associated deformed energy eigenvalues and eigenfunctions. The deformation parameter breaks the infinite degeneracy of the D…
Three dimensional Dirac oscillator was considered in deformed space obeyed to deformed commutation relations known as Snyder-de Sitter algebra. Snyder-de Sitter commutation relations gives rise to appearance minimal uncertainty in position as well as in momentum. To derive energy spectrum and wavefunctions of the Dirac oscillator supersymmetric quantum mechanics and shape invariance technique was applied.
We examine various generalizations, e.g. exactly solvable, quasi-exactly solvable and non-Hermitian variants, of a quantum nonlinear oscillator. For all these cases, the same mass function has been used and it has also been shown that the new exactly solvable potentials possess shape invariance symmetry. The solutions are obtained in terms of classical orthogonal polynomials.
The main goal of this work is to study the Dirac oscillator as a quantum field using the canonical formalism of quantum field theory and to develop the canonical quantization procedure for this system in $(1+1)$ and $(3+1)$ dimensions. This is possible because the Dirac oscillator is characterized by the absence of the Klein paradox and by the completeness of its eigenfunctions. We show that the Dirac oscillator field can be seen as constituted by infinite degrees of freedom which are identified as decoupled quantum linear harmonic oscillators. We observe that while for the free Dirac field th…
It is shown that a spin-1/2 fermion coupled to the axially symmetric electromagnetic vector potential has the same matrix structure as that one for the planar Dirac oscillator. In particular, the planar Dirac oscillator can be interpreted as a charged particle minimally coupled to a transverse homogeneous magnetic field.
We study generalized Dirac oscillators with complex interactions in $(1+1)$ dimensions. It is shown that for the choice of interactions considered here, the Dirac Hamiltonians are $η$ pseudo Hermitian with respect to certain metric operators $η$. Exact solutions of the generalized Dirac Oscillator for some choices of the interactions have also been obtained. It is also shown that generalized Dirac oscillators can be identified with Anti Jaynes Cummings type model and by spin flip it can also be identified with Jaynes Cummings type model.
In this Letter, 2D Dirac oscillator in the quantum deformed framework generated by the $κ$-Poincaré-Hopf algebra is considered. The problem is formulated using the $κ$-deformed Dirac equation. The resulting theory reveals that the energies and wave functions of the oscillator are modified by the deformation parameter.
We demonstrate that neutral Dirac particles in external electric fields, which are equivalent to generalized Dirac oscillators, are physical examples of quasi-exactly solvable systems. Electric field configurations permitting quasi-exact solvability of the system based on the $sl(2)$ symmetry are discussed separately in spherical, cylindrical, and Cartesian coordinates. Some exactly solvable field configurations are also exhibited.
We introduce two new families of quasi-exactly solvable (QES) extensions of the oscillator in a $d$-dimensional constant-curvature space. For the first three members of each family, we obtain closed-form expressions of the energies and wavefunctions for some allowed values of the potential parameters using the Bethe ansatz method. We prove that the first member of each family has a hidden sl(2,$\mathbb{R}$) symmetry and is connected with a QES equation of the first or second type, respectively. One-dimensional results are also derived from the $d$-dimensional ones with $d \ge 2$, thereby getti…
We study the algebraic structure of the one-dimensional Dirac oscillator by extending the concept of spin symmetry to a noncommutative case. An SO(4) algebra is found connecting the eigenstates of the Dirac oscillator, in which the two elements of Cartan subalgebra are conserved quantities. Similar results are obtained in the Jaynes--Cummings model.
We extend the notion of quasi-exactly solvable (QES) models from potential ones and differential equations to Bose systems. We obtain conditions under which algebraization of the part of the spectrum occurs. In some particular cases simple exact expressions for several energy levels of an anharmonic Bose oscillator are obtained explicitly. The corresponding results do not exploit perturbation theory and include strong coupling regime. A generic Hamiltonian under discussion cannot, in contrast to QES potential models, be expressed as a polynomial in generators of $sl_{2}$ algebra. The suggested…
We analyze recent results on a Dirac oscillator. We show that the truncation of the Frobenius series does not yield all the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the radial equation. For this reason the eigenvalues reported by the authors are useless and the prediction of allowed oscillator frequencies meaningless.
We have studied (2+1) dimensional Dirac oscillator (DO) in an external magnetic field in the framework of generalized uncertainty principle (GUP). We have calculated the perturbative corrections for first few energy levels. We show that the infinite degeneracy of lowest Landau level is partially lifted due to GUP correction and obtained a critical value of the magnetic field for which there is no GUP correction and the DO stops oscillating.
$1+1$-dimensional Dirac oscillator with minimal uncertainty in position and maximal in momentum is investigated. To obtain energy spectrum SUSY QM technique is applied. It is shown that the Dirac oscillator has two branches of spectrum, the first one gives the standard spectrum of the Dirac oscillator when the parameter of deformation goes to zero and the second branch does not have nondeformed limit. Maximal momentum brings an upper bound for the energy and it gives rise to the conclusion that the energy spectrum contains a finite number of eigenvalues. We also calculate partition function fo…
We study generalized (1+1)-dimensional Dirac oscillator in nonuniform electric field. It is shown that in the case of specially chosen electric field the eigenvalue equation can be casted in the form of supersymmetric quantum mechanics. It gives a possibility to find exact solution for the energy spectrum of the generalized Dirac oscillator in nonuniform electric field. Explicit examples of exact solutions are presented. We show that sufficiently large electric field destroys the bounded eigenstates.
We consider exact/quasi-exact solvability of Dirac equation with a Lorentz scalar potential based on factorizability of the equation. Exactly solvable and $sl(2)$-based quasi-exactly solvable potentials are discussed separately in Cartesian coordinates for a pure Lorentz potential depending only on one spatial dimension, and in spherical coordinates in the presence of a Dirac monopole.
The dynamics of wavepackets in a relativistic Dirac oscillator (DO) is considered. A comparison to nonrelativistic spin-orbit pendulum effect is discussed. Particular relativistic effects, like Zitterbewegung in spin motion, are found in Dirac representation. This trembling motion disappears in Foldy-Wouthuysen representation. A substantial difference between the dynamics of wavepackets corresponding to circular and linear orbits of a particle is obtained and discussed.
Using algebraic tools of supersymmetric quantum mechanics we construct classes of conditionally exactly solvable potentials being the supersymmetric partners of the linear or radial harmonic oscillator. With the help of the raising and lowering operators of these harmonic oscillators and the SUSY operators we construct ladder operators for these new conditionally solvable systems. It is found that these ladder operators together with the Hamilton operator form a non-linear algebra which is of quadratic and cubic type for the SUSY partners of the linear and radial harmonic oscillator, respectiv…
Exact analytical, closed-form solutions, expressed in terms of special functions, are presented for the case of a three-dimensional nonlinear quantum oscillator with a position dependent mass. This system is the generalization of the corresponding one-dimensional system, which has been the focus of recent attention. In contrast to other approaches, we are able to obtain solutions in terms of special functions, without a reliance upon a Rodrigues-type of formula. The wave functions of the quantum oscillator have the familiar spherical harmonic solutions for the angular part. For the s-states of…
We have presented an elegant high energy quantum problem, namely, the full Dirac oscillator under axial magnetic field with its full solution. We have found the energy spectrum which is rich and at the same time has a novel structure. The quantized energy levels show coupling of the oscillator frequency with the Larmor frequency in the 2D surface where the electrons under consideration follow a 2D oscillator. The axis in which magnetic field is pointed, the electrons follow a 1D oscillator. There is also coupling between spin and orbital motion and also a coupling between a resultant effect of…
The quantum version of a non-linear oscillator, previouly analyzed at the classical level, is studied. This is a problem of quantization of a system with position-dependent mass of the form $m={(1+λx^2)}^{-1}$ and with a $\la$-dependent nonpolynomial rational potential. This $\la$-dependent system can be considered as a deformation of the harmonic oscillator in the sense that for $\la\to 0$ all the characteristics of the linear oscillator are recovered. Firstly, the $\la$-dependent Schrödinger equation is exactly solved as a Sturm-Liouville problem and the $\la$-dependent eigenenergies and eig…
We determine the energy spectrum and the corresponding eigenfunctions of a 2D Dirac oscillator in the presence of Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect . It is shown that the energy spectrum depends on the spin of particle and the AB magnetic flux parameter. Finally, when the irregular solution occurs it is shown that the energy takes particular values. The nonrelativistic limit is also considered.
We study the non-relativistic limit of a paradigmatic model in Relativistic Quantum Mechanics, the two-dimensional Dirac oscillator. Remarkably, we find a novel kind of Zitterbewegung which persists in this non-relativistic regime, and leads to an observable deformation of the particle orbit. This effect can be interpreted in terms of a Ramsey Interferometric phenomenon, allowing an insightful connection between Relativistic Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Optics. Furthermore, subsequent corrections to the non-relativistic limit, which account for the usual spin-orbit Zitterbewegung, can be neat…
We construct a Darboux transformation for a class of two-dimensional Dirac systems at zero energy. Our starting equation features a position-dependent mass, a matrix potential, and an additional degree of freedom that can be interpreted either as a magnetic field perpendicular to the plane or a generalized Dirac oscillator interaction. We obtain a number of Darbouxtransformed Dirac equations for which the zero energy solutions are exactly known.
We investigate the energy spectrum and the corresponding eigenfunctions of a 2D Dirac oscillator confined by an antidot potential in the presence of a magnetic field and Aharonov-Bohm flux field. Analytical solutions are obtained and compared with the results of the Schrödinger equation found in the literature. Further, the dependence of the spectrum on the magnetic quantum number and on the repulsive potential is discussed.
We introduce a Dirac equation which reproduces the usual radial sextic oscillator potential in the non-relativistic limit. We determine its energy spectrum in the presence of the magnetic field. It is shown that the equation is solved in the context of quasi-exactly-solvable problems. The equation possesses hidden $sl_{2}$-algebra and the destroyed symmetry of the equation can be recovered for a specific values of the magnetic field which leads to exact determination of the eigenvalues.
We consider a two-dimensional Dirac oscillator in the presence of magnetic field in noncommutative phase space in the framework of relativistic quantum mechanics with minimal length. The problem in question is identified with a Poschl-Teller potential. The eigenvalues are found and the corresponding wave functions are calculated in terms of hypergeometric functions.
