We characterize the volume entropy of an arbitrary regular building as the topological pressure of the geodesic flow on an apartment. We show that the Liouville measure is not entropy maximizing measure for regular hyperbolic buildings. As a consequence, we obtain a strict lower bound on the volume entropy in terms of the branching numbers and the volume of the boundary polyhedrons.
Katok's entropy formula is an important formula in entropy theory. This paper is devoted to establishing Katok's entropy formula of unstable metric entropy which is the entropy caused by the unstable part of partially hyperbolic systems.
We use entropy theory as a new tool to study sectional hyperbolic flows in any dimension. We show that for $C^1$ flows, every sectional hyperbolic set $Λ$ is entropy expansive, and the topological entropy varies continuously with the flow. Furthermore, if $Λ$ is Lyapunov stable, then it has positive entropy; in addition, if $Λ$ is a chain recurrent class, then it contains a periodic orbit. As a corollary, we prove that for $C^1$ generic flows, every Lorenz-like class is an attractor.
We systematically investigate examples of non-hyperbolic dynamical systems having irregular sets of full topological entropy and full Hausdorff dimension. The examples include some partially hyperbolic systems and geometric Lorenz flows. We also pose interesting questions for future research.
In this article we prove that for a $C^{1+α}$ diffeomorphism on a compact Riemannian manifold, if there is a hyperbolic ergodic measure whose support is not uniformly hyperbolic, then the topological entropy of the set of irregular points that are not uniformly hyperbolic is larger than or equal to the metric entropy of the hyperbolic ergodic measure. In the process of proof, we give an abstract general mechanism to study topological entropy of irregular points provided that the system has a sequence of nondecreasing invariant compact subsets such that every subsystem has shadowing property an…
In this paper, unstable metric entropy, unstable topological entropy and unstable pressure for partially hyperbolic endomorphisms are introduced and investigated. A version of Shannon-McMillan-Breiman Theorem is established, and a variational principle is formulated, which gives a relationship between unstable metric entropy and unstable pressure (unstable topological entropy). As an application of the variational principle, some results on the $u$-equilibrium states are given.
In this article we study the regularity of the topological and metric entropy of partially hyperbolic flows with two-dimensional center direction. We show that the topological entropy is upper semicontinuous with respect to the flow, and we give an example where the lower semicontinuity fails. We also show that if such a flow has no fixed points, then it is entropy expansive, and consequently the metric entropy function is upper semicontinuous, there exist equilibrium states (and measures of maximal entropy), and principal symbolic extensions.
Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a $C^2$ random partially hyperbolic dynamical system. For the unstable foliation, the corresponding unstable metric entropy, unstable topological entropy and unstable pressure via the dynamics of $\mathcal{F}$ on the unstable foliation are introduced and investigated. A version of Shannon-McMillan-Breiman Theorem for unstable metric entropy is given, and a variational principle for unstable pressure (and hence for unstable entropy) is obtained. Moreover, as an application of the variational principle, equilibrium states for the unstable pressure including Gibbs $u$-states …
In this paper we provide extensions to hyperbolic numbers plane of the classical Chaos game algorithm and the Shannon entropy. Both notions connected with that of probability with values in hyperbolic number, introduced by D. Alpay et al \cite{eluna}. Within this context, particular attention has been paid to the interpretation of the hyperbolic valued probabilities and the hyperbolic extension of entropy as well.
Given a partially hyperbolic diffeomorphism $f:M \rightarrow M$ defined on a compact Riemannian manifold $M$, in this paper we define the concept of unstable topological entropy of $f$ on a set $Y \subset M$ not necessarily compact and we extend a theorem of R. Bowen proving that, for an ergodic $f$-invariant measure $μ$, the unstable measure theoretical entropy of $f$ is upper bounded by the unstable topological entropy of $f$ on any set of full $μ$-measure. We also define a notion of unstable topological entropy of $f$ using a Hausdorff dimension like characterization.
We prove that any 3-dimensional singular hyperbolic attractor admits for any Hölder continuous potential $V$ at most one equilibrium state for $V$ among regular measures. We give a condition on $V$ which ensures that no singularity can be an equilibrium state. Thus, for these $V$'s, there exists a unique equilibrium state and it is a regular measure. Applying this for $V\equiv 0$, we show that any 3-dimensional singular hyperbolic attractor admits a unique measure of maximal entropy.
