We find a family of holographic N=1 supersymmetric RG flows on M2 branes. These flows are driven by two mass parameters from the maximally (N=8) supersymmetric theory and the infra-red theory is controlled by two fixed points, one with G_2 symmetry and the other with SU(3)xU(1) symmetry and N=2 supersymmetry. The generic flow, with unequal mass parameters, is N=1 supersymmetric but goes to the SU(3)xU(1) symmetric, N=2 supersymmetric fixed point, where the masses are equal. The only flow that goes to the G_2 symmetric point occurs when one of the mass parameters is set to zero. There is an N=1 supersymmetric flow from the G_2 symmetric point to the SU(3)xU(1) symmetric point and supergravity gives a prediction of 1/\sqrt{6} for the anomalous dimensions of the operators that drive this flow. We examine these flows from the field theory perspective but find that one is limited to qualitative results since N=1 supersymmetry in three dimensions is insufficient to protect the form and dimensions of the operators involved in the flow.
In this paper, we will regularize the holographic entanglement entropy, holographic complexity and fidelity susceptibility for a configuration of D3-branes. We will also study the regularization of the holographic complexity from action for a configuration of D3-branes. It will be demonstrated that for a spherical shell of D3-branes the regularized holographic complexity is always greater than or equal to than the regularized fidelity susceptibility. Furthermore, we will also demonstrate that the regularized holographic complexity is related to the regularized holographic entanglement entropy …
Recently, S. Antonini and B. Swingle builded a holographic model for braneworld cosmology by introducing an ``end-of-the-world" (ETW) brane moving in a charged black hole spactime. In this paper, we will show that a holographic description of braneworld cosmology is possible for a general black hole spacetime with a pure tension brane if one implements a mixed boundary condition on the ETW brane. As a simple example, we study AdS-Schwarzschild black holes and show that a sensible Euclidean braneworld solution is compatible with localization of gravity on the ETW brane.
We discuss the properties of codimension-two branes and compare them to codimension-one branes. In particular, we show that for deficit angle branes the brane energy momentum tensor is uniquely related to integration constants in the bulk solution. We investigate chiral fermions whose wave functions are concentrated on the brane, while all their properties in the effective four-dimensional world can be inferred from the tail of the wave function in the bulk, thereby realizing a holographic principle. We propose holographic branes for which the knowledge of the bulk geometry is sufficient for t…
We study baryons in holographic QCD with $D4/D8/\bar{D8}$ multi $D$ brane system. In holographic QCD, the baryon appears as a topologically non-trivial chiral soliton in a four-dimensional effective theory of mesons, which is called `Brane-induced Skyrmion'. We derive and calculate the Euler-Lagrange equation for the hedgehog configuration with chiral profile $F(r)$ and $ρ$-meson profile $\tilde G(r)$, and obtain the soliton solution of the holographic QCD.
We introduce the brane-bulk interaction to discuss a limitation of the cosmological Cardy-Verlinde formula which is useful for the holographic description of brane cosmology. In the presence of the brane-bulk interaction, we cannot find the entropy representation of the first Friedmann equation (the cosmological Cardy-Verlinde formula). In the absence of the interaction, the cosmological Cardy-Verlinde formula is established even for the time-dependent charged AdS background. Hence, if there exists a dynamic exchange of energy between the brane and the bulk (that is, if $\tilde T^t~_y \not=0$)…
We report our recent results concerning d5 gauged supergravity (dilatonic gravity) considered on AdS background. The finite action on such background as well as d4 holographic conformal anomaly (via AdS/CFT correspondence) are found. In such formalism the bulk potential is kept to be arbitrary, dilaton dependent function. Holographic RG in such theory is briefly discussed. d5 AdS brane-world Universe induced by quantum effects of brane CFT is constructed. Such brane is spherical, hyperbolic or flat one. Hence, the possibility of quantum creation of inflationary brane-world Universe is shown.
In this paper we consider the bulk-brane interaction to obtain the equation of state for the holographic energy density in non-flat universe enclosed by the event horizon measured from the sphere of horizon named $L$. We assumes that the cold dark matter energy density on the brane is conserved, but the holographic dark energy density on the brane is not conserved due to brane-bulk energy exchange. Our calculation show, taking $Ω_Λ=0.73$ for the present time, the lower bound of $w_{\rm Λ}^{eff}$ is -0.9. This implies that one can not generate phantom-like equation of state from an interacting …
We review holographic renormalization for non-conformal branes using the Hamilton-Jacobi formalism. We provide the tools required for the computation of the holographic dictionary, while we present some marginally new technical results regarding holographic renormalization for $Dp$-branes, $p<5$, for Einstein-Maxwell theory coupled to a dilaton. The computations are based on a recursive algorithm by Papadimitriou, that solves the radial Hamilton-Jacobi equation in the asymptotic boundary of the bulk. This paper is a short version of the Master thesis of the author written in 2014 at the Instit…
We present a large class of holographic models where the boundary ${\mathbb R}^{2,1}$ dimensional conformal field theory has a thermal phase with a spontaneously broken global symmetry. The dual black branes in a Poincare patch of asymptotically $AdS_4$ violate the no-hair theorem.
We construct a holographic model for Josephson junctions with a defect system of a Dp brane intersecting a D(p+2) brane. In addition to providing a geometrical picture for the holographic dual, this leads us very naturally to suggest the possibility of non-Abelian Josephson junctions characterized in terms of the topological properties of the branes. The difference between the locations of the endpoints of the Dp brane on either side of the defect translates into the phase difference of the condensate in the Josephson junction. We also add a magnetic flux on the D(p+2) brane and allow it evolv…
We describe type $II_A$ cosmological brane inflation scenarios based on the holographic MQCD model of Aharony et al \cite{Aharony:2010mi}. The scenarios can be related via T-duality to the type $II_B$ KKLMMT model \cite{Kachru:2003sx}. They describe a probe brane configuration of $p$ D4 branes stretching between an $NS5$ and $NS5'$ branes in the holographic background of large $N$ D4 branes. The resulting cosmological models have a Wick-rotated D4-brane metric, with transverse dimensions compactified, and a spiralling brane with flux $p$. In one model, the background has a small nonextremality…
We study the time evolution of entanglement entropy in expanding universes with various matters. To describe expanding universes holographically, we take into account a braneworld moving in an asymptotic AdS space involving a uniform $p$-brane gas. In the braneworld model, an observer living in the braneworld detects the bulk motion of the braneworld as an expanding universe. We show that the entanglement entropy of expanding universes increases by the volume law in the early time and by the area law in the late time. We further consider the cosmological horizon, which is the border of the vis…
In this paper, we have studied the holographic subregion complexity for boosted black brane for strip like subsystem. The holographic subregion complexity has been computed for a subsystem chosen along and perpendicular to the boost direction. We have observed that there is an asymmetry in the result due to the boost parameter which can be attributed to the asymmetry in the holographic entanglement entropy. The Fisher information metric and the fidelity susceptibility have also been computed using bulk dual prescriptions. It is observed that the two metrics computed holographically are not rel…
We provide explicit holographic duals of M5-branes wrapped on a sphere with one irregular puncture and one regular puncture of arbitrary type. The solutions generalise the solutions corresponding to M5-branes wrapped on a disc recently constructed by Bah-Bonetti-Minasian-Nardoni by allowing for a general choice of regular puncture. We show that the central charges, flavour central charges and conformal dimensions of BPS operators match with a class of Argyres-Douglas theory.
We calculate the holographic conformal anomaly and brane Newton potential when bulk is 5d AdS BH. It is shown that such anomaly is the same as in the case of pure AdS or (asymptotically) dS bulk spaces, i.e. it is (bulk) metric independent one. While Newton potential on the static brane in AdS BH is different from the one in pure AdS space, the gravity trapping still occurs for two branes system. This indicates to metric independence of gravity localization.
Techni-fermions are added as stacks of D7-anti-D7 techni-branes within the framework of a holographic technicolor model that has been proposed as a realization of walking technicolor. The stability of the embedding of these branes is determined. When a sufficiently low bulk cut-off is provided the fluctuations remain small. For a longer walking region, as would be required in any realistic model of electroweak symmetry breaking, a larger bulk cut-off is needed and in this case the oscillations destabilize.
We study corner contributions to holographic entanglement entropy in non-conformal backgrounds: a kink for D2-branes as well as a cone and two different types of crease for D4-branes. Unlike 2+1-dimensional CFTs, the corner contribution to the holographic entanglement entropy of D2-branes exhibits a power law behaviour rather than a logarithmic term. However, the logarithmic term emerges in the holographic entanglement entropy of D4-branes. We identify the logarithmic term for a cone in D4-brane background as the universal contribution under appropriate limits and compare it with other physica…
We compute the holographic entanglement entropy contribution from planar two-dimensional defects in six-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=(2,0)$ superconformal field theory, holographically dual to probe M2- and M5-branes in $AdS_7 \times S^4$. In particular, we test the viability of the universal contribution of the defect to entanglement entropy as a candidate $C$-function. We find that this coefficient is not monotonic under defect renormalization group flows triggered by the vacuum expectation value of a marginal operator. Another candidate $C$-function, the on-shell action inside the entanglement …
We employ the "complexity equals action" conjecture to investigate the action growth rate for the charged and neutral AdS black branes of a holographic toy model consisting of Einstein-Maxwell theory in $d + 1$-dimensional bulk spacetime with $d - 1$ massless scalar fields which is called Einstein-Maxwell-Axion (EMA) theory. From the holographic point of view, the scalar fields source a spatially dependent field theory with momentum relaxation on the boundary, which is dual to the homogeneous and isotropic black branes. We find that the growth rate of the holographic complexity within the Whee…
By imposing the relativistic boundary term and Lorentz violating that in the dilatonic black brane with a Lifshitz like IR geometry and $AdS_4$ boundary, we study the properties of the spectral functions of the fermions. We find that in the two fixed points, there are emergent Fermi-surface structures and many properties seem to be in agreement with that of Fermi liquid. Especially, the low energy behavior exhibits a linear dispersion relation. In addition, we also find that a holographic flat band also emerges in this background of the dilatonic black brane.
The relationship between the entropy of de Sitter (dS) Schwarzschild space and that of the CFT which lives on the brane by using Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) equations and Cardy-Verlinde formula is discussed. We show that when the time-like brane crosses the black hole horizon of dS Schwarzschild black hole, the entropy of the CFT exactly agrees with the black hole entropy of 5-dimensional dS background.
A minimal single-brane holographic model can be used as a dual to 2d conformal interfaces (ICFTs) to calculate the transmission coefficient $\mathcal{T}$ of energy transported across the defect as well as boundary entropy $\log g$, the additional entanglement entropy for some sub-region that encloses the defect. Both $\mathcal{T}$ and $\log g$ are uniquely determined by the tension characterizing the brane. In contrast, in field theory defects typically the transmission coefficient can be dialed from 0 to 1 independently for each allowed value of $\log g$. To address this discrepancy, we look …
We perform holographic renormalization for probe branes in AdS_5 x S^5. We show that for four known probe D-branes wrapping an AdS_m x S^n, the counterterms needed to render the action finite are identical to those for the free, massive scalar in AdS_m plus counterterms for the renormalization of the volume of AdS_m. The four cases we consider are the probe D7, two different probe D5's and a probe D3. In the D7 case there are scheme-dependent finite counterterms that can be fixed by supersymmetry.
We investigate the supersymmetric index of N=2,3 SU(n) supersymmetric Yang-Mills Chern Simons theories at level k by using the brane configuration with a (p,q)5-brane. We can explain that the supersymmetry breaking occurs when k<n in terms of the s-rule for Type IIB branes. The supersymmetric index coincides with the number of the possible supersymmetric brane configurations. We also discuss a construction of a family of theories which have the same supersymmetric index.
We consider both the supersymmetric open 2-brane and bosonic open 2-brane, their quantization and spectrum under the flat metric condition. The supersymmetric spectrum turns out to be discrete, while the spectrum of purely bosonic open 2-brane is shown to be devoid of any massless states.
This thesis focuses on the derivation of holographic backgrounds from the field theory side, without using any supergravity equations of motion. Instead, we rely on the addition of probe D-branes to the stack of D-branes generating the background. From the field theory description of the probe branes, one can compute an effective action for the probes (in a suitable low-energy/near-horizon limit) by integrating out the background branes. Comparing this action with the generic probe D-brane action then allows to determine the holographic background dual to the considered field theory vacuum. In…
The holographic complexity of a `black' non-susy $D3$-brane is computed. The difference in the holographic complexity between this geometry in the Fefferman-Graham coordinates and that of the $AdS_5$ geometry is obtained for a strip type subsystem. This is then related to the changes in the energy and the entanglement entropy of the system. We next take the high temperature limit of the change in complexity and observe that it scales with the temperature in the same way as the holographic entanglement entropy. The crossover of the holographic complexity to its corresponding thermal counterpart…
The BPS D3 brane has a non-supersymmetric cousin, called the non-susy D3 brane, which is also a solution of type IIB string theory. The corresponding counterpart of black D3 brane is the `black' non-susy D3 brane and like the BPS D3 brane, it also has a decoupling limit, where the decoupled geometry (in the case we are interested, this is asymptotically AdS$_5$ $\times$ S$^5$) is the holographic dual of a non-conformal, non-supersymmetric QFT in $(3+1)$-dimensions. In this QFT we compute the entanglement entropy (EE), the complexity and the Fisher information metric holographically using the a…
We review recent progress in the study of non-rational (boundary) conformal field theories and their applications to describe exact holographic backgrounds in superstring theory. We focus mainly on the example of the supersymmetric coset SL(2,R)/U(1), corresponding to the two-dimensional black hole, and its dual N=2 Liouville. In particular we discuss the modular properties of their characters, their partition function as well as the exact boundary states for their various D-branes. Then these results are used to construct the corresponding quantities in the CFT of the NS5-brane background, wi…
We provide the first holographic evidence for the existence of a non-supersymmetric conformal manifold arising from exactly marginal but supersymmetry-breaking deformations of a superconformal three-dimensional field theory. In particular, we construct a 2-parameter non-supersymmetric deformation of a supersymmetric AdS non-geometric background in Type IIB string theory. We prove that the non-supersymmetric backgrounds are perturbatively stable and also do not suffer from various non-perturbative instabilities. Finally, we argue that diffeomorphism symmetry protects our solutions against highe…
We compute the supersymmetric Renyi entropy across an entangling three-sphere for five-dimensional superconformal field theories using localization. For a class of USp(2N) gauge theories we construct a holographic dual 1/2 BPS black hole solution of Euclidean Romans F(4) supergravity. The large N limit of the gauge theory results agree perfectly with the supergravity computations.
An AdS_4 brane embedded in AdS_5 exhibits the novel feature that a four-dimensional graviton is localized near the brane, but the majority of the infinite bulk away from the brane where the warp factor diverges does not see four-dimensional gravity. A naive application of the holographic principle from the point of view of the four-dimensional observer would lead to a paradox; a global holographic mapping would require infinite entropy density. In this paper, we show that this paradox is resolved by the proper covariant formulation of the holographic principle. This is the first explicit examp…
We show that all half-BPS Wilson loop operators in N=4 SYM -- which are labeled by Young tableaus -- have a gravitational dual description in terms of D5-branes or alternatively in terms of D3-branes in AdS_5xS^5. We prove that the insertion of a half-BPS Wilson loop operator in the cal N=4 SYM path integral is achieved by integrating out the degrees of freedom on a configuration of bulk D5-branes or alternatively on a configuration of bulk D3-branes. The bulk D5-brane and D3-brane descriptions are related by bosonization.
We consider the brane universe in the bulk background of the topological Reissner-Nordström de Sitter black holes. We show that the thermodynamic quantities (including entropy) of the dual CFT take usual special forms expressed in terms of Hubble parameter and its time derivative at the moment, when the brane crosses the black hole horizon or the cosmological horizon. We obtain the generalized Cardy-Verlinde formula for the CFT with an charge and cosmological constant, for any values of the curvature parameter $k$ in the Friedmann equations.
In this paper we study D-brane scalar fluctuations in global Pilch-Warner background geometry. We consider configurations of the probe branes compatible with the kappa symmetry preserving condition and the brane classical equations of motion. The corresponding meson spectra, obtained by the fluctuations along the transverse brane directions, admit equidistant structure for the higher modes, but some of them show additional shifts in their ground states.
We study the holographic principle in the brane cosmology. Especially we describe how to accommodate the 5D anti de Sitter Schwarzschild (AdSS$_5$) black hole in the Binetruy-Deffayet-Langlois (BDL) approach of brane cosmology. It is easy to make a connection between a mass $M$ of the AdSS$_5$ black hole and a conformal field theory (CFT)-radiation dominated universe on the brane in the moving domain wall approach. But this is not established in the BDL approach. In this case we use two parameters $C_1, C_2$ in the Friedmann equation. These arise from integration and are really related to the …
A great deal of progress has been recently made in the study of holography for non-conformal branes. Considering the near-horizon limit of backgrounds generated by such branes, we discuss the holographic renormalization of probe D-branes in these geometries. More specifically, we discuss in some detail systems with a codimension-one defect. For this class of systems, the mode which describes the probe branes wrapping a maximal 2-sphere in the transverse space behaves like a free massive scalar propagating in a higher-dimensional (asymptotically) AdS_{q+1}-space. The counterterms needed are the…
We extend the study on D-branes in the type IIB plane wave background to less supersymmetric configurations. We show that many new supersymmetric D-branes can be found by turning on electric as well as magnetic background fluxes, or constantly boosting D-branes.
The relationship between the entropy of de Sitter (dS) Schwarzschild space and that of the CFT, which lives on the brane, is discussed by using Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) equations and Cardy-Verlinde formula. The cosmological constant appears on the brane with time-like metric in dS Schwarzschild background. On the other hand, in case of the brane with space-like metric in dS Schwarzschild background, the cosmological constant of the brane does not appear because we can choose brane tension to cancel it. We show that when the brane crosses the horizon of dS Schwarzschild black hole, both…
We consider holographic renormalization for the decoupling limit of coincident Dp-branes. We truncate the theory to the supergravity sector which is homogeneous on the (8-p)-sphere and carries only RR electric (p+2)-flux, leaving a graviton and two scalar degrees of freedom associated to the dilaton and the sphere radius. We non-linearly construct the asymptotic graviton and dilaton deformations - the analog of the Graham-Fefferman expansion for AdS/CFT - and compute counterterms to give a finite renormalized bulk action and dual one point functions. Restricting to linear deformations we find …

We study the Schwinger effect with a moving D3-brane in a $\mathcal{N}$=4 SYM plasma with the aid of AdS/CFT correspondence. We discuss the test particle pair moving transverse and parallel to the plasma wind respectively. It is found that for both cases the presence of velocity tends to increase the Schwinger effect. In addition, the velocity has a stronger influence on the Schwinger effect when the pair moves transverse to the plasma wind rather than parallel.
D-branes with a U-shaped geometry, like the D8 flavor branes in the Sakai-Sugimoto model of QCD, are encountered frequently in holographic backgrounds. We argue that the commonly used DBI action is inadequate as an effective field theory description of these branes, because it misses a crucial component of the low-energy dynamics: a light complex scalar mode. Following an idea of Erkal, Kutasov and Lunin we elaborate on an effective description based on the abelian tachyon-DBI action which incorporates naturally the non-local physics of the complex scalar mode. We demonstrate its power in a co…
We study baryons and baryonic matter in holographic QCD with $D4/D8/\bar{D8}$ multi-$D$ brane system. In large-$N_c$ holographic QCD, the baryon appears as a topologically non-trivial chiral soliton, which is called ``brane-induced Skyrmion''. We also analyze the features of the baryonic matter in holographic QCD by investigating the system of single brane-induced Skyrmion on a three-dimensional closed manifold $S^3$. We propose a new interesting picture of ``pion dominance'' near the critical density.
We derive a new class of supersymmetric D3/D7 brane configurations, which allow to holographically describe N=4 SYM coupled to massive N=2 flavor degrees of freedom on spaces of constant curvature. We systematically solve the $κ$-symmetry condition for D7-brane embeddings into AdS$_4$-sliced AdS$_5\times$S$^5$, and find supersymmetric embeddings in a simple closed form. Up to a critical mass, these embeddings come in surprisingly diverse families, and we present a first study of their (holographic) phenomenology. We carry out the holographic renormalization, compute the one-point functions and…
We examine if there exists a zero-energy supersymmetric ground state for the fundamental five-brane. Looking for an $SO(6)\times SO(2)$- invariant ground state, we construct, in the light-cone gauge, perturbatively a Nicolai map up to third order in the inverse five-brane tension. We show that the Nicolai map equilibrates and the five-brane has a zero-energy normalizable supersymmetric vacuum state. For the other p-branes, we argue that only the three-brane has a zero-energy ground state.
Probe branes with finite worldvolume electric flux in the background created by a stack of Dp branes describe holographically strongly interacting fundamental matter at finite density. We identify two quantities whose leading low temperature behavior is independent of the dimensionality of the probe branes: specific heat and DC conductivity. This behavior can be inferred from the dynamics of the fundamental strings which provide a good description of the probe branes in the regime of low temperatures and finite densities. We also comment on the speed of sound on the branes and the temperature …
We propose a generic supersymmetric and kappa-invariant action for describing coincident D0-branes with non-abelian matter fields on their worldline. The action is shown to be in agreement with the Matrix Theory limit of the ND0-brane effective action.
Using N=2 off-shell supergravity in five dimensions, we supersymmetrize the brane world scenario of Randall and Sundrum. We extend their construction to include supersymmetric matter at the fixpoints.
We study geometric aspects of extensions of the supersymmetric standard model that exhibit a periodic duality cascade. Via the holographic correspondence, the growth of the gauge group rank towards the UV is interpreted as a gradual decompactification transition. We show that this class of models typically develop a duality wall in the UV, and present an efficient method for estimating the hierarchy between the on-set of the cascade and the formation of the wall. As an illustrative example, we study the model introduced by Cascales, Saad and Uranga in [14], which has an known geometric realiza…
We describe a scheme for constructing the holographic dual of the full D3-brane geometry with charge $K$ by embedding it into a large anti-de Sitter space of size $N$. Such a geometry is realized in a multi-center anti-de Sitter geometry which admits a simple field theory interpretation as $SU(N+K)$ gauge theory broken to $SU(N) \times SU(K)$. We find that the characteristic size of the D3-brane geometry is of order $(K/N)^{1/4} U^0$ where $U^0$ is the scale of the Higgs. By choosing $N$ to be much larger than $K$, the scale of the D3-brane metric can be well separated from the Higgs scale in …
In certain regions of the moduli space of K3 and Calabi-Yau manifolds, D-branes wrapped on non-supersymmetric cycles may give rise to stable configurations. We show that in the orbifold limit, some of these stable configurations can be described by solvable boundary conformal field theories. The world-volume theory of N coincident branes of this type is described by a non-supersymmetric U(N) gauge theory. At the boundary of the region of stability, there are marginal deformations connecting the non-supersymmetric brane to a pair of D-branes wrapped on supersymmetric cycles. We also discuss var…
We consider a holographic model constructed through using the D4/D8-$\bar{\rm D8}$ brane configuration with a background field. We study some properties of the effective field theory in this intersecting brane construction, and calculate the effects of this NS-NS background field on some underlying dynamics. We also discuss some other general brane configurations.
We refine a previous proposal for obtaining the multi-instanton partition function from the supersymmetric index of the 1d supersymmetric gauge theory on the worldline of D0-branes. We provide examples where the refinements are crucial for obtaining the correct result.
We derive superalgebras in many types of supersymmetric M-brane backgrounds. The backgrounds examined here include the cases of the M-wave and the M-Kaluza-Klein monopole. On the basis of the obtained algebras, we deduce all the supersymmetric non-orthogonal intersections of the M-Kaluza-Klein monopole and the M-5-brane at angles. In addition, we present a 1/4 supersymmetric worldvolume 3-brane soliton on the M-5-brane in the M-5-brane background as an extended solution of the 3-brane solitons of the M-5-brane by Howe, Lambert and West. This soliton can be interpreted as a certain intersection…
The gauge theory dual to the decay of an unstable D-particle in AdS is analysed in terms of coherent states. We discuss in detail how to count the number of particles in the decay product. We find, in agreement with the analysis in flat space, that the emission amplitude is suppressed as the mass of the radiated particles increases.
In the preceding paper, we derived a kind of kinematical holographic relation (KHR) in the Lorentz-covariant Yang's quantized space-time algebra (YSTA). It essentially reflects the fundamental nature of the noncommutative geometry of YSTA and its representation, that is, a definite kinematical reduction of spatial degrees of freedom in comparison with the ordinary lattice space. On the basis of the relation and its extension to various spatial dimensions, we derive a new area-entropy relation in a simple $D_0$ brane gas system subject to YSTA, following the idea of M-theory. Furthermore, we ma…
In the present paper, we present an extra dimensions inspired model that is built on the DGP brane-world scenario, then we take the dark energy component on the brane to be a Chaplygin gas. After that we consider a holographic model of Chaplygin gas in the framework of DGP cosmology. We show that the holographic Chaplygin gas can mimic a phantom fluid and cross the phantom divide in a DGP brane-world setup.
In the first part of the paper we generalize the butterfly velocity formula to anisotropic spacetime. We apply the formula to evaluate the butterfly velocities in M-branes, D-branes and strings backgrounds. We show that the butterfly velocities in M2-branes, M5-branes and the intersection M2$\bot$M5 equal to those in fundamental strings, D4-branes and the intersection F1$\bot$D4 backgrounds, respectively. These observations lead us to conjecture that the butterfly velocity is generally invariant under a double-dimensional reduction. In the second part of the paper, we study the butterfly veloc…
