Let $R$ be a constant. Let $\mathcal{M}^R_γ$ be the space of smooth metrics $g$ on a given compact manifold $Ω^n$ ($n\ge 3$) with smooth boundary $Σ$ such that $g$ has constant scalar curvature $R$ and $g|_Σ$ is a fixed metric $γ$ on $Σ$. Let $V(g)$ be the volume of $g\in\mathcal{M}^R_γ$. In this work, we classify all Einstein or conformally flat metrics which are critical points of $V(\cdot)$ in $\mathcal{M}^R_γ$.
In this paper, we focus our study on the ends of a locally conformally flat complete manifold with finite total $Q$-curvature. We prove that for such a manifold, the integral of the $Q$-curvature equals an integral multiple of a dimensional constant $c_n$, where $c_n$ is the integral of the $Q$-curvature on the unit $n$-sphere. It provides further evidence that the $Q$-curvature on a locally conformally flat manifold controls geometry as the Gaussian curvature does in two dimension.
In a previous article, we generalised the classical four-dimensional Chern-Gauss-Bonnet formula to a class of manifolds with finitely many conformally flat ends and singular points, in particular obtaining the first such formula in a dimension higher than two which allows the underlying manifold to have isolated conical singularities. In the present article, we extend this result to all even dimensions $n\geq 4$ in the case of a class of conformally flat manifolds.
Around 2007, A. Chang, J. Qing, and P. Yang proved a conformal gap theorem for Bach-flat metrics with round sphere as the model case. In this article, we extend this result to prove conformally invariant gap theorems for Bach-flat $4$-manifolds with $(\mathbb{CP}^2, g_{FS})$ and $(\mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{S}^2,g_{prod})$ as model cases. An iteration argument plays an important role in the case of $(\mathbb{CP}^2, g_{FS})$ and the convergence theory of Bach-flat metrics is of particular importance in the case of $(\mathbb{S}^2\times\mathbb{S}^2,g_{prod})$.
Let $R$ be the $hh$-curvature associated with the Chern connection or the Cartan connection. Adopting the pulled-back tangent bundle approach to the Finslerian Geometry, an intrinsic characterization of $R$-Einstein metrics is given. Finslerian metrics which are locally conformally $R$-Einstein are classified.
We provide classification results for and examples of half conformally flat generalized quasi Einstein manifolds of signature $(2,2)$. This analysis leads to a natural equation in affine geometry called the affine quasi-Einstein equation that we explore in further detail.
In this paper, we give an optimal inequality relating the relative Yamabe invariant of a certain compactification of a conformally compact Poin-car{é}-Einstein manifold with the Yamabe invariant of its boundary at infinity. As an application, we obtain an elementary proof of the rigidity of the hyper-bolic space as the only conformally compact Poincar{é}-Einstein manifold with the round sphere as its conformal infinity.
First, we show that a warped product of a line and a fiber manifold is weakly conformally flat and quasi Einstein if and only if the fiber is Einstein. Next, we characterize and classify contact (in particular, $K$-contact) Riemannian manifold satisfying weakly (and doubly weakly) conformally flat and quasi-Einstein ($η$-Einstein) conditions. Finally, we provide local classification and characterization of a semi-Riemannian (including the 4-dimensional spacetime) with harmonic Weyl tensor and a non-homothetic conformal (including closed) vector field, in terms of Petrov types and Bach tensor.
We present a global conformal invariant on closed six-manifolds which obstructs the existence of a conformally Einstein metric. We show that this obstruction is nontrivial and, up to multiplication by a constant, is the unique such invariant. This also gives rise to a (possibly trivial) diffeomorphism invariant which obstructs the existence of an Einstein metric. We also discuss global conformal invariants which obstruct the existence of a conformally Einstein metric on closed six-manifolds with infinite fundamental group.
We prove that any conformally flat submanifold with flat normal bundle in a conformally flat Riemannian manifold is locally holonomic, that is, admits a principal coordinate system. As one of the consequences of this fact, it is shown that the Ribaucour transformation can be used to construct an associated large family of immersions with induced conformal metrics holonomic with respect to the same coordinate system.
This article classifies closed G2-structures such that the induced metric is conformally flat. It is shown that any closed G2-structure with conformally flat metric is locally equivalent to one of three explicit examples. In particular, it follows from the classification that any closed G2-structure inducing a metric that is both conformally flat and complete must be equivalent to the flat G2-structure on $\mathbb{R}^7.$
We describe all Lorentzian semi-direct extensions of the Heisenberg group which are conformally Einstein. As a by side result, Bach-flat left-invariant Lorentzian metrics on semi-direct extensions of the Heisenberg group are classified, thus providing new background solutions in conformal gravity.
The object of the present paper is to study 3-dimensional conformally flat quasi-Para-Sasakian manifolds. First, the necessary and sufficient conditions are provided for 3-dimensional quasi-Para-Sasakian manifolds to be conformally flat. Next, a characterization of 3-dimensional conformally flat quasi-Para-Sasakian manifold with \b{eta}=const. is given.
We propose further conformal parametrizations for initial data in some modified Einstein gravity theories. Some of them give rise to conformally covariant systems.
Conformally flat pseudo-Riemannian manifolds with generalized Ricci recurrent, $(GR)_n$ structure are completely classified in this short report. A conformally flat generalized Ricci recurrent pseudo-Riemannian manifold is shown to be either a de Sitter space or an anti-de Sitter space. In particular, a conformally flat generalized Ricci recurrent spacetime must be either a de Sitter spacetime or an anti-de Sitter spacetime.
We define an invariant for compact spin manifolds $X$ of dimension $4k$ equipped with a metric $h$ of positive Yamabe invariant on its boundary. The vanishing of this invariant is a necessary condition for the conformal class of $h$ to be the conformal infinity of a conformally compact Einstein metric on $X$.
In this paper, we establish compactness results of some class of conformally compact Einstein 4-manifolds. In the first part of the paper, we improve the earlier results obtained by Chang-Ge. In the second part of the paper, as applications, we derive some compactness results under perturbation conditions when the L^2-norm of the Weyl curvature is small. We also derive the global uniqueness of conformally compact Einstein metrics on the 4-Ball constructed in the earlier work of Graham-Lee.
In this paper, we establish some compactness results of conformally compact Einstein metrics on $4$-dimensional manifolds. Our results were proved under assumptions on the behavior of some local and non-local conformal invariants, on the compactness of the boundary metrics at the conformal infinity, and on the topology of the manifolds.
In this paper, we present some new properties for p-biharmonic hypersurfaces in Riemannian manifold. We also characterize the p-biharmonic submanifolds in an Einstein space. We construct a new example of proper p-biharmonic hypersurfaces. We present some open problems.
We define a partition of the space of projectively flat metrics in three classes according to the sign of the Chern scalar curvature; we prove that the class of negative projectively flat metrics is empty, and that the class of positive projectively flat metrics consists precisely of locally conformally flat-Kähler metrics on Hopf manifolds, explicitly characterized by Vaisman. Finally, we review the properties of zero projectively flat metrics. As applications, we refine a list of possible projectively flat metrics by Li, Yau, and Zheng; moreover we prove that projectively flat astheno-Kähler…
Conformally flat Einstein-like 4-manifolds and conformally flat Riemannian 4-manifolds all of whose Jacobi operators have parallel eigenspaces along every geodesic
We completely resolve the boundary value problem for differential forms and conformally Einstein infinity in terms of the dual Hahn polynomials. Consequently, we produce explicit formulas for the Branson-Gover operators on Einstein manifolds and prove their representation as a product of second order operators. This leads to an explicit description of $Q$-curvature and gauge companion operators on differential forms.
In this paper, we study generic conformally flat hypersurfaces in the Euclidean $4$-space $\mathbb{R}^4$ using the framework of Möbius geometry. First, we classify locally the generic conformally flat hypersurfaces with closed Möbius form under the Möbius transformation group of $\mathbb{R}^4$. Such examples come from cones, cylinders, or rotational hypersurfaces over the surfaces with constant Gaussian curvature in $3$-spheres, Euclidean $3$-spaces, or hyperbolic $3$-spaces, respectively. Second, we investigate the global behavior of the generic conformally flat hypersurface and give some int…
In this note we prove that a special family of Killing potentials on certain Hirzebruch complex surfaces, found by Futaki and Ono, gives rise to new conformally Kähler, Einstein-Maxwell metrics. The correspondent Kähler metrics are ambitoric but they are not given by the Calabi ansatz. This answers in positive questions raised by Futaki-Ono.
The local structure of half conformally flat gradient Ricci almost solitons is investigated, showing that they are locally conformally flat in a neighborhood of any point where the gradient of the potential function is non-null. In opposition, if the gradient of the potential function is null, then the soliton is a steady traceless $κ$-Einstein soliton and is realized on the cotangent bundle of an affine surface.
