Possible deformation of odd-N nuclei with N $\approx$ 28 towards the neutron drip line is investigated using the Nilsson diagram based on deformed Woods-Saxon potentials. Both weakly-bound and resonant one-particle levels are properly obtained by directly solving the Schrödinger equation in mesh of space coordinate with the correct boundary condition. If we use the same diffuseness of the potential as that of $β$-stable nuclei, the energy difference between the neutron 2p$_{3/2}$ and 1f$_{7/2}$ levels becomes very small or the N=28 energy gap almost disappears, as the binding energies of those levels approach zero. This suggests that the ground states of those neutron drip line nuclei are likely to be deformed. In particular, the spin-parity and the magnetic moment of the ground state of odd-N nuclei, $^{43}_{16}$S$_{27}$ and $^{45}_{16}$S$_{29}$, are examined. Moreover, it is suggested that in $^{39}_{12}$Mg$_{27}$ lying outside the drip line the lowest resonant state may have 5/2$^{-}$, if the N=28 energy gap almost vanishes.
Solution of the momentum space Schrödinger equation in the case of deformed fields is being addressed. In particular it is shown that a complete set of single particle states which includes bound, resonant and complex continuum states may be obtained by the Contour Deformation Method. This generalized basis in the complex energy plane is known as a Berggren basis. The momentum space Schrödinger equation is an integral equation which is easily solved by matrix diagonalization routines even for the case of deformed fields. The method is demonstrated for axial symmetry and a fictitious "deformed …
Shell structure of low-lying neutron resonant levels in axially-symmetric quadrupole-deformed potentials is discussed, which seems analogous to that of weakly-bound neutrons. As numerical examples, nuclei slightly outside the neutron-drip-line, $^{39}_{12}$Mg$_{27}$ and $^{21}_{6}$C$_{15}$, are studied. For the lowest resonance I obtain $I^π$ = $Ω^π$ = 5/2$^{-}$ for $^{39}$Mg which is likely to be prolately deformed, while $I^π$ = $Ω^π$ = 1/2$^{+}$ may be assigned to the nucleus $^{21}$C which may be oblately deformed. Consequently, $^{21}$C will not be observed as a recognizable resonant stat…
We develop a complex scaling method for describing the resonances of deformed nuclei and present a theoretical formalism for the bound and resonant states on the same footing. With $^{31}$Ne as an illustrated example, we have demonstrated the utility and applicability of the extended method and have calculated the energies and widths of low-lying neutron resonances in $^{31}$Ne. The bound and resonant levels in the deformed potential are in full agreement with those from the multichannel scattering approach. The width of the two lowest-lying resonant states shows a novel evolution with deforma…
Using a simple model based on the knowledge of spherical and deformed Woods-Saxon potentials, it is shown that the recent observation of halo phenomena in $^{29}$F can be interpreted as an evidence for the prolate deformation of the ground state of $^{29}$F. The prolate deformation is the result of the shell structure, which is unique in one-neutron resonant levels, in particular near degeneracy of the neutron 1$f_{7/2}$ and 2$p_{3/2}$ resonant levels, together with the strong preference of prolate shape by the proton number $Z$ = 9. On the other hand, in oxygen isotopes spherical shape is so …
Weakly-bound deformed nuclei have been studied by the Skyrme Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) approach in large coordinate-space boxes. In particular, the box-size dependence of the HFB calculations of weakly-bound deformed nuclei are investigated, including the particle density and pairing density distributions at nuclear surfaces, the near-threshold resonant and continuum quasiparticle spectra, and energetic properties. The box size may have larger influences in pairing properties than in other bulk properties. We demonstrate that large-box calculations of weakly-bound nuclei are important to p…
Single-particle resonances are crucial for exotic nuclei near and beyond the drip lines. Since the majority of nuclei are deformed, the interplay between deformation and orbital structure near threshold becomes very important and can lead to an improved description of exotic nuclei. In this work, the Green's function (GF) method is applied to solve the coupled-channel Dirac equation with quadrupole-deformed Woods-Saxon potentials for the first time. The detailed formalism for the partial-wave expansion of the Green's function is presented. A new approach getting exact values for energies and w…
The structure of deformed single-particle wave functions in the vicinity of zero energy limit is studied using a schematic model with a quadrupole deformed finite square-well potential. For this purpose, we expand the single-particle wave functions in multipoles and seek for the bound state and the Gamow resonance solutions. We find that, for the $K^π=0^{+}$ states, where $K$ is the $z$-component of the orbital angular momentum, the probability of each multipole components in the deformed wave function is connected between the negative energy and the positive energy regions asymptotically, alt…
Resonance plays critical roles in the formation of many physical phenomena, and many techniques have been developed for the exploration of resonance. In a recent letter [Phys. Rev. Lett. 117, 062502 (2016)], we proposed a new method for probing single-particle resonances by solving the Dirac equation in complex momentum representation for spherical nuclei. Here, we extend this method to deformed nuclei with theoretical formalism presented. We elaborate numerical details, and calculate the bound and resonant states in $^{37}$Mg. The results are compared with those from the coordinate representa…
Examples of the change of neutron shell-structure in both weakly-bound and resonant neutron one-particle levels in nuclei towards the neutron drip line are exhibited. It is shown that the shell-structure change due to the weak binding may lead to the deformation of those nuclei with the neutron numbers $N \approx$ 8, 20, 28 and 40, which are known to be magic numbers in stable nuclei. Nuclei in the "island of inversion" are most easily and in a simple manner understood in terms of deformation. As an example of spectroscopic properties other than single-particle energies, magnetic moments of so…
We develop a new framework of the deformed quasiparticle-random-phase approximation (QRPA) where the Skyrme density functional and the density-dependent pairing functional are consistently treated. Numerical applications are carried out for the isovector dipole and the isoscalar quadrupole modes in the spherical $^{20}$O and in the deformed $^{26}$Ne nuclei, and the effect of the momentum dependent terms of the Skyrme effective interaction for the energy-weighted sum rule is discussed. As a further application, we present for the first time the moments of inertia of $^{34}$Mg and $^{36}$Mg usi…
We use the axially-deformed Skyrme Quasiparticle Random-Phase Approximation (QRPA) together with the SkM* energy-density functional, both as originally presented and with the time-odd part adjusted to reproduce the Gamow-Teller resonance energy in 208Pb, to calculate the matrix elements governing the neutrinoless double-beta decay of 76Ge, 130Te, 136Xe, and 150Nd. Our matrix elements in 130Te and 136Xe are significantly smaller than those of previous QRPA calculations, primarily because of the difference in pairing or deformation between the initial and final nuclei. In 76Ge and 150Nd our resu…
We present a calculation of the properties of vibrational states in deformed, axially--symmetric even--even nuclei, within the framework of a fully self--consistent Quasparticle Random Phase Approximation (QRPA). The same Skyrme energy density and density-dependent pairing functionals are used to calculate the mean field and the residual interaction in the particle-hole and particle-particle channels. We have tested our software in the case of spherical nuclei against fully self consistent calculations published in the literature, finding excellent agreement. We investigate the consequences of…
In this paper we model low-lying states of atomic nuclei in the nucleon-pair approximation of the shell model, using three approaches to select collective nucleon pairs: the generalized seniority scheme, the conjugate gradient method, and the Hartree-Fock approach. We find the collective pairs obtained from the generalized seniority scheme provides a good description for nearly spherical nuclei, and those from the conjugate gradient method or the Hartree-Fock approach work well for transitional and deformed nuclei. Our NPA calculations using collective pairs with angular momenta 0, 2, and 4 (d…
Background: Deformed neutron-rich magnesium isotopes constitute a fascinating territory where the interplay between collective rotation and single-particle motion is strongly affected by the neutron continuum. The unbound $fp$-shell nucleus $ ^{39}\text{Mg} $ is an ideal candidate to study this interplay. Purpose: In this work, we predict the properties of low-lying resonant states of $ ^{39}\text{Mg} $, using a suite of realistic theoretical approaches rooted in the open quantum system framework. Method: To describe the spectrum and decay modes of $ ^{39}\text{Mg} $ we use the conventional Sh…
Beta-decay properties of even and odd-A neutron-rich Ge, Se, Kr, Sr, Ru, and Pd isotopes involved in the astrophysical rapid neutron capture process are studied within a deformed proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation. The underlying mean field is described self-consistently from deformed Skyrme Hartree-Fock calculations with pairing correlations. Residual interactions in the particle-hole and particle-particle channels are also included in the formalism. The isotopic evolution of the various nuclear equilibrium shapes and the corresponding charge radii are investigated in all…
The properties of the deformed halo of 31Ne were discussed using the antisymmetrized molecular dynamics plus resonating group method (AMD+RGM). The AMD+RGM calculations describe a large neutron radius for the ground state and reveal that the ground state is dominated by core-excited components. The resonant states were also investigated by applying the analytical continuation of the coupling constant. It was found that the first excited state (the 5/2- state) is also dominated by core-excited components and has a small decay width, whereas the second excited state (the 7/2- state) is dominated…
In this work, we take into consideration of Pauli Exclusion Principle(PEP) in the quasi-particle random phase approximation (QRPA) calculations for the deformed systems by replacing the traditional Quasi-Boson Approximation(QBA) with the renormalized one. With this new formalism, the parametrization of QRPA calculations has been changed and the collapse of QRPA solutions could be avoid for realistic $g_{pp}$ values. We further find that the necessity of renormalization parameter of particle-particle residual interaction $g_{pp}$ in QRPA calculations is due to the exclusion of PEP. So with the …
Magnetic form factors corresponding to elastic electron scattering from odd-A nuclei are presented. The calculations are carried out in plane-wave Born approximation. The one-body properties are obtained in a deformed self-consistent mean-field calculation based on a Skyrme HF+BCS method. Collective effects are also included in the cranking approximation. Results on several stable nuclei are compared with the available experimental information. It is shown that a deformed formalism improves the agreement with experiment in deformed nuclei, while reproducing equally well spherical nuclei by tak…
Covariant density functional theory is used to analyze the evolution of low-lying M1 strength in superfluid deformed nuclei in the framework of the self-consistent Relativistic Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (RQRPA). In nuclei with a pronounced neutron excess two scissor modes are found. Besides the conventional scissor mode, where the deformed proton and neutron distributions oscillate against each other, a new soft M1 mode is found, where the deformed neutron skin oscillates in a scissor like motion against a deformed proton-neutron core.
By using the Pekeris approximation, the Schrodinger equation is approximately solved for the nuclear deformed Woods-Saxon potential within the framework of the asymptotic iteration method. The energy levels are worked out and the corresponding normalized eigenfunctions are obtained in terms of hypergeometric function.
By using the Pekeris approximation, the Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau (DKP) equation is investigated for a vector deformed Woods-Saxon (dWS) potential. The parametric Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method is used in calculations. The approximate energy eigenvalue equation and the corresponding wave function spinor components are calculated for any total angular momentum J in closed form. The exact energy equation and wave function spinor components are also given for the J=0 case. We use a set of parameter values to obtain the numerical values for the energy states with various values of quantum levels (n,J) an…
A study of the shape transition from spherical to axially deformed nuclei in the even Ce isotopes using the nucleon-pair approximation of the shell model is reported. As long as the structure of the dominant collective pairs is determined using a microscopic framework appropriate to deformed nuclei, the model is able to produce a shape transition. However, the resulting transition is too rapid, with nuclei that should be transitional being fairly well deformed, perhaps reflecting the need to maintain several pairs with each angular momentum.
An extrapolation method in shell model calculations with deformed basis is presented, which uses a scaling property of energy and energy variance for a series of systematically approximated wave functions to the true one. Such approximated wave functions are given by variation-after-projection method concerning the full angular momentum projection. This extrapolation needs energy variance, which amounts to the calculation of expectation value of square of Hamiltonian $\hat{H}^2$. We present the method to evaluate this matrix element and show that large reduction of its numerical computation ca…
We discuss properties of the quadrupole collective excitation of the deformed neutron-rich nucleus $^{38}$Mg within the framework of quasi-particle random phase approximation (QRPA). We first solve the coupled-channels equations to obtain the single-particle levels, and construct the ground state by treating the pairing correlations in the BCS approximation. We then solve the QRPA equation using the response function formalism, by including the continuum spectra with the box dicscretization method. We show that the collectivity of the gamma vibration (the lowest $K^π=2^+$ mode) is significantl…
We use the finite amplitude method (FAM), an efficient implementation of the quasiparticle random phase approximation, to compute beta-decay rates with Skyrme energy-density functionals for 3983 nuclei, essentially all the medium-mass and heavy isotopes on the neutron rich side of stability. We employ an extension of the FAM that treats odd-mass and odd-odd nuclear ground states in the equal filling approximation. Our rates are in reasonable agreement both with experimental data where available and with rates from other global calculations.

We develop a relativistic mean field (RMF) description of deformed nuclei with the pairing correlations in the BCS approximation. The treatment of the pairing correlations for nuclei with the Fermi surface being close to the threshold of unbound states needs a special attention. To this end, we take the delta function interaction for the pairing interaction with the hope to pick up those states with the wave function being concentrated in the nuclear region and perform the standard BCS approximation for the single particle states generated by the RMF theory with deformation. We apply the RMF +…
Approximate bound state solutions of the Dirac equation with -deformed Woods-Saxon plus a new generalized ring-shaped potential are obtained for any arbitrary L-state. The energy eigenvalue equation and corresponding two-component wave function are calculated by solving the radial and angular wave equations within a shortcut of the Nikiforov-Uvarov method. The solutions of the radial and polar angular parts of the wave function are expressed in terms of the Jacobi polynomials. A new approximation being expressed in terms of the potential parameters is carried out to deal with the strong singul…
A method to implement realistic nucleon-nucleon residual interaction (Bonn CD force) based on the Brueckner G-matrix into the Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (QRPA) for deformed nuclei is formulated. The two-neutrino double decay for ground state to ground state transitions $^{76}$Ge$ \to ^{76}$Se and $^{150}$Nd $\to ^{150}$Sm is calculated along with the Gamow-Teller strength distributions. The effect of deformation on the observables is studied.
Background: Microscopic calculations of heavy nuclei face considerable difficulties due to the sizes of the matrices that need to be solved. Various approximation schemes have been invoked, for example by truncating the spaces, imposing seniority limits, or appealing to various symmetry schemes such as pseudo-SU(3). This paper proposes a new symmetry scheme also based on SU(3). This proxy-SU(3) can be applied to well-deformed nuclei, is simple to use, and can yield analytic predictions. Purpose: To present the new scheme and its microscopic motivation, and to test it using a Nilsson model calc…
Band mixing calculations in rapidly rotating well-deformed nuclei are presented, investigating the properties of energy levels and rotational transitions as a function of excitation energy. Substantial fragmentation of E2 transitions is found for $E_x \gsim$ 800 keV above yrast, which represents the onset of rotational damping. Above $E_x \approx $ 2 MeV, energy levels and E2 strengths display fluctuations typical of quantum chaotic systems, which are determined by the high multipole components of the two-body residual interaction.
We describe the program HFBTHO for axially deformed configurational Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculations with Skyrme-forces and zero-range pairing interaction using Harmonic-Oscillator and/or Transformed Harmonic-Oscillator states. The particle-number symmetry is approximately restored using the Lipkin-Nogami prescription, followed by an exact particle number projection after the variation. The program can be used in a variety of applications, including systematic studies of wide ranges of nuclei, both spherical and axially deformed, extending all the way out to nucleon drip lines.
Using a new approximate analytic parameter-free proxy-SU(3) scheme, we make predictions of shape observables for deformed nuclei, namely beta and gamma deformation variables, and compare these with empirical data and with predictions by relativistic and non-relativistic mean-field theories.
The giant dipole resonance (GDR) in deformed nuclei is analyzed using the self-consistent separable random-phase-approximation (SRPA) with Skyrme forces SkT6, SkM$^*$, SLy6 and SkI3. The deformed nuclei $^{150}$Nd and $^{238}$U are used as representative rare-earth and actinide samples. Dependencies of the dipole strength distributions on some basic characteristics of the Skyrme functional and nuclear matter properties (isoscalar and isovector effective masses, time-odd contributions) are discussed. Particular attention is paid to the fragmentation structure of the GDR strength which are shown…

We study weakly-bound deformed nuclei based on the coordinate-space Skyrme Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov approach, in which a large box is employed for treating the continuum and surface diffuseness. Approaching the limit of core-halo deformation decoupling, calculations found an exotic "egg"-like structure consisting of a spherical core plus a prolate halo in $^{38}$Ne, in which the resonant continuum plays an essential role. Generally the halo probability and the decoupling effect in heavy nuclei are reduced compared to light nuclei, due to denser level densities around Fermi surfaces. However, de…
Symmetries are manifested in nature through degeneracies in the spectra of physical systems. In the case of heavy deformed nuclei, when described in the framework of the Interacting Boson Model, within which correlated proton (neutron) pairs are approximated as bosons, the ground state band has no symmetry partner, while the degeneracy between the first excited beta and gamma bands is broken through the use of three-body and/or four-body terms. In the framework of the proxy-SU(3) model, in which an approximate SU(3) symmetry of fermions is present, the same three-body and/or four-body operator…
Recently we proposed [62] a fast computing scheme for generalized seniority on spherical single-particle basis. This work redesigns the scheme to make it applicable to deformed single-particle basis. The algorithm is applied to the rare-earth nucleus $^{158}_{~64}$Gd$_{94}$ for intrinsic (body-fixed frame) neutron excitations under the low-momentum {\emph{NN}} interaction $V_{\rm{low}-k}$. By allowing as many as four broken pairs, we compute the lowest $300$ intrinsic states of several multipolarity. These states converge well to the exact ones, showing generalized seniority is very effective …
The lowest quadrupole $γ$-vibrational $K^π=2^+$ states in axially deformed rare-earth (Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Er, Yb, Hf, W) and actinide (U) nuclei are systematically investigated within the separable random-phase-approximation (SRPA) based on the Skyrme functional. The energies $E_γ$ and reduced transition probabilities $B(E2)$ of $2^+_γ$-states are calculated with the Skyrme forces SV-bas and SkM$^*$. The energies of two-quasiparticle configurations forming the SRPA basis are corrected by using the pairing blocking effect. This results in a systematic downshift of $E_γ$ by 0.3-0.5 MeV and thus in …
A strength function method is adopted to describe a coupling between electric and magnetic modes of different multipolarity. The collective vibrations are analysed for a separable residual interaction in the framework of the random-phase approximation. The coupling between $M2$ and $E1$ giant resonances is considered as an illustrative example.
We have developed an {\it ab initio} deformed in-medium similarity renormalization group (IMSRG) for open-shell nuclei. This is a single-reference IMSRG in deformed Hartree-Fock (HF) basis. Deformed wave functions are more efficient in describing deformed nuclei. The broken spherical symmetry needs to be restored by angular momentum projection, which is computational expensive. The angular momentum mainly capture the static correlations and can be estimated by the projection of the HF state. In this work, we do deformed IMSRG calculation and add the correlation energy from projected HF as a le…
We describe and apply a version of the finite amplitude method for obtaining the charge-changing nuclear response in the quasiparticle random phase approximation. The method is suitable for calculating strength functions and beta-decay rates, both allowed and forbidden, in axially-deformed open-shell nuclei. We demonstrate the speed and versatility of the code through a preliminary examination of the effects of tensor terms in Skyrme functionals on beta decay in a set of spherical and deformed open-shell nuclei. Like the isoscalar pairing interaction, the tensor terms systematically increase a…
Using Woods-Saxon potentials and the eigenphase formalism for one-particle resonances, one-particle bound and resonant levels for neutrons as a function of quadrupole deformation are presented, which are supposed to be useful for the interpretation of spectroscopic properties of some light neutron-rich nuclei with weakly-bound neutrons. Compared with Nilsson diagrams in text books which are constructed using modified oscillator potentials, we point out a systematic change of the shell structure in connection with both weakly-bound and resonant one-particle levels related to small orbital angul…
Beta-decay properties of neutron-rich Zr and Mo isotopes are investigated within a microscopic theoretical approach based on the proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation. The underlying mean field is described self-consistently from deformed Skyrme Hartree-Fock calculations with pairing correlations. Residual separable particle-hole and particle-particle forces are also included in the formalism. The structural evolution in these isotopic chains including both even and odd isotopes is analyzed in terms of the equilibrium deformed shapes. Gamow-Teller strength distributions, beta…
We developed the deformed proton-neutron quasiparticle random phase approximation (QRPA) and applied to the evaluation of the Gamow-Teller (GT) transition strength distributions including high-lying excited states, which data becomes recently available beyond one or two nucleon threshold by charge exchange reactions using hundreds of MeV projectiles. Our calculations started with single-particle states calculated by a deformed axially symmetric Woods-Saxon potential. Neutron-neutron and proton-proton pairing correlations are explicitly taken into account at the deformed Bardeen Cooper Schriffe…
Background: Collective excitations of nuclei and their theoretical descriptions provide an insight into the structure of nuclei. Replacing traditional phenomenological interactions with unitarily transformed realistic nucleon-nucleon interactions increases the predictive power of the theoretical calculations for exotic or deformed nuclei. Purpose: Extend the application of realistic interactions to deformed nuclei and compare the performance of different interactions, including phenomenological interactions, for collective excitations in the sd-shell. Method: Ground-state energies and charge r…
The charge-exchange excitations in nuclei are studied within the fully self-consistent proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation using the finite-range Gogny interaction. No additional parameters beyond those included in the effective nuclear force are included. Axially symmetric deformations are consistently taken into account, both in the description of the ground states and spin-isospin excitations. We focus on the isobaric analog and Gamow-Teller resonances. A comparison of the predicted strength distributions to the existing experimental data is presented and the role of nuc…
We present an analysis based on the deformed Quasi Particle Random Phase Approximation, on top of a deformed Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov description of the ground state, aimed at studying the isoscalar monopole and quadrupole response in a deformed nucleus. This analysis is motivated by the need of understanding the coupling between the two modes and how it might affect the extraction of the nuclear incompressibility from the monopole distribution. After discussing this motivation, we present the main ingredients of our theoretical framework, and we show some results obtained with the SLy4 and SkM…
We present an efficient method for calculating strength functions using the finite amplitude method (FAM) for deformed superfluid heavy nuclei within the framework of the nuclear density functional theory. We demonstrate that FAM reproduces strength functions obtained with the fully self-consistent quasi-particle random-phase approximation (QRPA) at a fraction of computational cost. As a demonstration, we compute the isoscalar and isovector monopole strength for strongly deformed configurations in $^{240}$Pu by considering huge quasi-particle QRPA spaces. Our approach to FAM, based on Broyden'…
With the advent of high analysis technology in detecting the Gamow-Teller (GT) excited states beyond one nucleon emission threshold, the quenching of the GT strength to the Ikeda sum rule seems to be recovered by the high-lying GT states. Moreover, in some nuclei, the stronger GT peaks than any other peaks appear explicitly in the high-lying excited states. We address that these high-lying GT excited states stems from the smearing of the Fermi surface by the increase of the chemical potential owing to the deformation within a framework of the deformed quasi-particle random phase approximation …
We comment on the statement by Kuznetsov et al. that the structure around W=1.72 GeV seen in the beam asymmetry in Compton scattering off the proton is not observed in the total cross section of $η$ photoproduction on the neutron.
Gamow-Teller (GT) strength distributions of Mg isotopes are investigated within a framework of the deformed quasi-particle random phase approximation(DQRPA). We found that the N=20 shell closure in $^{28 \sim 34}$Mg was broken by the prolate shape deformation originating from the {\it fp}-intruder states. The shell closure breaking gives rise to a shift of low-lying GT excited states into high-lying states. Discussions regarding the shell evolution trend of single particle states around N=20 nuclei are also presented with the comparison to other approaches.
A new step-by-step diagonalization procedure for evaluating exact solutions of the nuclear deformed mean-field plus pairing interaction model is proposed via a simple Bethe ansatz in each step from which the eigenvalues and corresponding eigenstates can be obtained progressively. This new approach draws upon an observation that the original one- plus two-body problem in a $k$-particle Hilbert subspace can be mapped unto a one-body grand hard-core boson picture that can be solved step by step with a simple Bethe ansatz known from earlier work. Based on this new procedure, it is further shown th…
Based on the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov solutions in large deformed coordinate spaces, the finite amplitude method for quasiparticle random phase approximation (FAM-QRPA) has been implemented, providing a suitable approach to probe collective excitations of weakly-bound nuclei embedded in the continuum. The monopole excitation modes in Magnesium isotopes up to the neutron drip line have been studied with the FAM-QRPA framework on both the coordinate-space and harmonic oscillator basis methods. Enhanced soft monopole strengths and collectivity as a result of weak-binding effects have been unambigu…
