Coherent pi^+ and pi^0 production in low energy neutrino reactions is discussed in the framework of the partially conserved axial vector current theory (PCAC). The role of lepton mass effects in suppressing the pi^+ production is emphasized. Instead of using models of pion nucleus scattering, the available data on pion Carbon scattering are implemented for an analysis of the PCAC prediction. Our results agree well with the published upper limits for pi^+ production but are much below the recent MiniBooNE result for pi^0 production.
Coherent pion production in low energy neutrino reactions is discussed in the framework of the partially conserved axial vector current theory (PCAC). The role of lepton mass effects in suppressing production of positively charged pions is discussed. Instead of using models of pion nucleus scattering, the available data on pion carbon scattering are implemented for an analysis of the PCAC prediction. Our results agree well with the published upper limits for positively charged production but are much below the recent MiniBooNE result for neutral pion production.
Using the PCAC relation, we derive a compact formula for the pion decay constant $F_π$ in the nonlocal chiral quark model. For practical calculations this formula may be used both in the Minkowski and in the Euclidean space. For the pion momentum $P_μ\to0$ it reduces to the well known expression derived earlier by other authors. Using a generalized dipole Ansatz for the momentum dependence of the constituent quark mass in the Minkowski space, we express $F_π^{2}$ in terms of a single integral over the quark momentum fraction $u$. We interpret the integrand as a pion distribution amplitude $ϕ(u…
The main part of coherent pion production by neutrinos on nuclei is essentially determined by PCAC, provided that the leptonic momentum transferred square Q^2 remains sufficiently small. We give the formulas for the charged and neutral current cross sections, including also the small non-PCAC transverse current contributions and taking into account the effect of the μ^- mass. Our results are compared with the experimental ones and other theoretical treatments.
We re-investigate Adler's PCAC relation in the presence of an external electromagnetic field within the framework of QCD coupled to external fields. We discuss pion electroproduction within a tree-level approximation to chiral perturbation theory and explicitly verify a chiral Ward identity referred to as the Adler-Gilman relation. We critically examine soft-momentum techniques and point out how inadmissable approximations may lead to results incompatible with chiral symmetry. As a result we confirm that threshold pion electroproduction is indeed a tool to obtain information on the axial form …
For any inelastic process $v_{\ell} + I \to \ell^- + F$ with $m_{\ell} = 0$, the cross section at $θ_{\ell} = 0$ is given by Adler's PCAC theorem. Inclusion of the lepton mass has a dynamical effect (``PCAC-screening'') caused by interference of spin-zero ($π^+$) and spin-one exchanges. This effect may be relevant to the forward suppression reported in recent experiments.
A simple way to enforce the Adler zero condition for pion amplitudes in the nuclear medium is to use the Lovelace quantization condition but with modified Regge Slope $α'$ This latter is related to change in the gluon condensate. Increasing nuclear density leads to a relative increase in the Regge Slope $α'$ Denoting this increase by a scale factor $λ$, the drop in the $ρ$-mass, $Δ-N$ mass difference, increase in $ππ$ scattering length, decrease of pion decay constant etc. are simply related to $λ$.
The Adler relation between reactions initiated by neutrinos and pions is easy to misinterpret as a manifestation of the pion pole dominance. An axial current, however, cannot fluctuate into a pion, but only to heavy axial-vector states, since the lepton current is transverse. This is the miracle of the PCAC hypothesis which dictates a specific conspiracy between the heavy fluctuations, so that all together they mock the pion pole. Indeed, the observed Q^2 dependence of the axial form factor is controlled by the effective mass m_A \sim 1 GeV, rather than the pion mass. On the contrary, the onse…
We review the Rein--Sehgal model and criticize its use for low energy neutrino induced coherent pion production. We have studied the validity of the main approximations implicit in that model, trying to compare with physical observables when that is possible and with microscopical calculations. Next, we have tried to elaborate a new improved model by removing the more problematic approximations, while keeping the model still reasonably simple. Last, we have discussed the limitations intrinsic to any approach based on the partial conservation of the axial current hypothesis. In particular, we h…
We use a continuum quark+diquark approach to the nucleon bound-state problem in relativistic quantum field theory to deliver parameter-free predictions for the nucleon axial and induced pseudoscalar form factors, $G_A$ and $G_P$, and unify them with the pseudoscalar form factor $G_5$ or, equivalently, the pion-nucleon form factor $G_{πNN}$. We explain how partial conservation of the axial-vector current and the associated Goldberger-Treiman relation are satisfied once all necessary couplings of the external current to the building blocks of the nucleon are constructed consistently; in particul…
We test the hypothesis of partially conserved axial current (PCAC) in high energy diffractive neutrino production of pions. Since the pion pole contribution to the Adler relation (AR) is forbidden by conservation of the lepton current, the heavier states, like the a_1 pole, ρ-π-cut, etc., control the lifetime of the hadronic fluctuations of the neutrino. We evaluate the deviation from the AR in diffractive neutrino-production of pions on proton and nuclear targets. At high energies, when all the relevant time scales considerably exceed the size of the target, the AR explicitly breaks down on a…
A model of diffractive neutrino scattering is formulated in terms of the chiral hadronic current which is conserved in the limit of vanishing pion mass. This current has the correct singularity structure and, naturally, does not lead to contradictions with a partial conservation of the axial current (PCAC). In that respect we differ from earlier work in the literature, where a breakdown of PCAC had been reported. We show that such a breakdown of PCAC is an artifact of the hadronic current non-conservation in the model developed there.
The K2K experiment, using a fine-grained detector in a neutrino beam of energy $<E> \sim 1.3 \mathrm{GeV}$ has observed two-track events that can be interpreted as a coherent reaction $ν_μ+ \N \to μ^- + \N + π^+ (\N = \rm{C}^{12})$ or an incoherent process $ν_μ+ (p,n) \to μ^- + π^+ + (p,n)$, the final nucleon being unobserved. The data show a significant deficit of forward-going muons in the interval $Q^2 \lesssim 0.1 \rm{GeV}^2$, where a sizeable coherent signal is expected. We attempt an explanantion of this effect, using a PCAC formula that includes the effect of the non-vanishing muon mass…
The light-cone distribution amplitudes for the axial current are derived within the instanton vacuum model (IVM), which incorporates nonperturbative effects including spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking. This allows to extend applicability of the dipole approach, usually used in the perturbative domain, down to $Q^{2}\to0$, where partially conserved axial current (PCAC) imposes a relation between the neutrino-production cross section and the one induced by pions. A dramatic breakdown of the Adler relation (AR) for diffractive neutrino-production of pions, caused by absorptive corrections, was…
Coherent pion production by neutrinos has been interpreted in the framework of the Partially Conserved Axial Current hypothesis (PCAC) and explicit model calculations are available. In this article we compute angular correlations for the produced pions which may help to separate the signal from the background. We present many figures useful for the experiments and compare them with another model.
Heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory ($χ$PT), where the $Δ$ resonance is included, is used in order to examine the axial charged-current component of the weak interaction process at low neutrino energies. At leading chiral order the Adler theorems, derived using PCAC, are satisfied. At next-to-leading chiral order this effective field theory goes beyond these theorems. I will show that $χ$PT generates deviation from the PCAC predictions, which means that some neutrino-nucleon models that are used in evaluating neutrino nucleus scattering amplitudes, might need modifications.
We show that diffractive production of a single neutral pion in photon-induced reactions at high energy is dynamically suppressed due to the approximate chiral symmetry of QCD. These reactions have been proposed as a test of the odderon exchange mechanism. We show that the odderon contribution to the amplitude for such reactions vanishes exactly in the chiral limit. This result is obtained in a nonperturbative framework and by using PCAC relations between the amplitudes for neutral pion and axial vector current production.
In this paper we present quantitative results for coherent pion production by neutrinos scattered off nuclei within the framework developed by Gounaris, Kartavtsev and Paschos. The method is based on PCAC and uses helicity cross sections for the scattering of weak gauge bosons on nuclei. The process relies on experimental data for elastic pion-nucleus scattering. A detailed analysis of the differential and integrated cross sections is presented for neutral and charged currents, with special emphasis on the regions of integrations. The results are extended to energies of 10.0 GeV and are compar…
In this talk I review the main features of the coherent/diffractive pion production by neutrinos on nuclei. The method is based on PCAC and relates the reaction $\textbf{boson} + \textbf{nucleus} \to \textbf{pion} + \textbf{nucleus}$ to elastic pion-nucleus scattering. Estimates for the expected rates and distributions in neutrino reactions are presented with the help of hadronic data. The absolute rates are significantly smaller than the older estimates which brings theory in agreement with the neutral current measurements and the bounds in charged current reactions.
The cross-section for a charged pion pair production by two photons is evaluated by using the low energy expression previously obtained from current algebra and PCAC which involves an integral over a vector and axial-vector spectral functions. Data on the latter obtained from tau-decay as measured by the ALEPH collaboration is then inserted in the integral which is appropriately modified in order to eliminate contributions near the cut in the duality contour integral. The experimental behavior of the cross-section for gamma-gamma into pi (+)-pi(-) is well reproduced at low energies.
We derive novel low--energy theorems for single pion production off nucleons through the isovector axial current. We find that the $k^2$-dependence of the multipole $L_{0+}^{(+)}$ at threshold is given by the nucleon scalar form factor, namely $σ(k^2-M_π^2 ) /(3 πM_πF_π)$. The relation to PCAC results for soft pions including electroweak form factors is also clarified.
In this article, we present the charged and neutral current coherent pion production in the neutrino-nucleus interaction in the resonance region using the formalism based on the partially conserved axial current (PCAC) theorem which relates the neutrino-nucleus cross section to the pion-nucleus elastic cross section. The pion nucleus elastic cross section is calculated using the Glauber model approach. We calculate the integrated cross sections for neutrino-carbon, neutrino-iron and neutrino-oxygen scattering. The results of integrated cross-section calculations are compared with the measured …
In this article, we study the coherent pion production in neutrino-nucleus interaction in the resonance region using the formalism based on partially conserved axial current (PCAC) theorem which relates the neutrino-nucleus cross section to the pion-nucleus elastic cross section. The pion nucleus elastic cross section is calculated using the Glauber model in terms of pion-nucleon cross sections obtained by parameterizing the experimental data. We calculate the differential and integrated cross sections for charged current coherent pion production in neutrino carbon scattering. The results of i…
The effects of multi-pion correlations and finite coherent length on two-pion interferometry are studied. It was shown that as the pion multiplicity and coherent length become larger, the apparent radius and the apparent coherent parameters derived from two-pion interferometry become smaller. The influence of the coherent length on the effective temperature is discussed.
We reconsider the Feynman-Kislinger-Ravndal model applied to neutrino-excitation of baryon resonances. The effects of lepton mass are included, using the formalism of Kuzmin, Lyubushkin and Naumov. In addition we take account of the pion-pole contribution to the hadronic axial vector current. Application of this new formalism to the reaction nu(mu) + p --> mu + Delta at E(nu) approx 1 GeV gives a suppressed cross section at small angles, in agreement with the screening correction in Adler's forward scattering theorem. Application to the process nu(tau) + p --> tau + Delta at E(nu) approx 7 GeV…
Some of the recent progress in the physics of pion production induced by neutrinos on nucleons and nuclei is reviewed from a theoretical perspective. The importance of Watson's theorem to reconcile ANL and BNL data with the off-diagonal Goldberger-Treiman relation for the $Δ(1232)$ is discussed. The disagreement between MiniBooNE data and theoretical calculations is presented in the light of the new MINERvA data. The coherent pion production data on $^{12}$C obtained by MINERvA are also compared to different microscopic and PCAC models.
We assume that nucleon antinucleon annihilation is a fast process leading to a classical coherent pion pulse. We develop the quantum description of such pion waves based on the method of coherent states. We study the consequences of such a description for averages of charge types and moments of distributions of pion momenta with iso-spin and four-momentum conservation taken into account. We briefly discuss the applicability of our method to annihilation at rest, where we find agreement with experiment, and suggest other avenues for its use.
We present a microscopic model for neutrino induced one-pion production off the nucleon and its implementation for the purpose of calculating coherent pion production in nuclei. We further criticize the use of the Rein--Sehgal model for coherent pion production by low energy neutrinos. In particular, we show how the approximations in that model give rise to a much flatter differential cross section in the $η=E_π(1-\cosθ_π)$ variable. We discuss the limitations intrinsic to any approach based on the partial conservation of the axial current hypothesis and the inability of such models to properl…
The pion-nucleon and kaon-nucleon scattering lengths are studied in the QCD sum rule. We show that the leading and next-to-leading order terms of the OPE give rise to the Tomozawa-Weinberg and sigma terms, respectively. We also show that in the kaon-nucleon system the $Λ(1405)$ contribution has to be subtracted from the OPE side in order to obtain the scattering length. The odd components of the $T$-matrices are in agreement with the experimental values not only in the pion-nucleon channel but also in the kaon-nucleon channel after the $Λ(1405)$ contribution subtracted. The even components dis…
The coherent production of the nP states of the $π^+π^-$ atoms ($A_{2π}$) in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions is considered as a possible source of the $A_{2π}(nP)$ beam for the pionium Lamb-shift measurement. A general expression for estimation of the $A_{2π}(nP)$ yield is derived in the framework of the equivalent photon approximation.
I concentrate in this article on the reaction--coherent pion production by neutrinos incident on nuclei. A special effort is made in order to describe the approximations entering the calculation. I conclude that the reaction is well understood and with appropriate data for hadronic reactions is can be computed for low and high energies. Because of shortage of space I omitted the resonance analysis, which is described in articles with my collaborators.
The weak $η$-meson production off the nucleon induced by (anti)neutrinos is studied at low and intermediate energies, the range of interest for several ongoing and future neutrino experiments. We consider Born diagrams and the excitation of $N^\ast (1535)S_{11}$ and $N^\ast(1650)S_{11}$ resonances. The vector part of the N-$S_{11}$ transition form factors has been obtained from the MAID helicity amplitudes while the poorly known axial part is constrained with the help of the partial conservation of the axial current (PCAC) and assuming the pion-pole dominance of the pseudoscalar form factor.
The effects of two kinds of coherent lengths, the wave packet length of the emitter and the radius of the coherent source, on pion spectrum distribution are studied. It is shown that both coherent lengths can cause abundant pions at low momentum, but the DCC size effects on pion spectrum distribution is more important. So observing abundant pions at low momentum may be taken as a signal of DCC effects.
We discuss different parameterizations of the $C_5^A(q^2)$ $NΔ$ axial form factor, fitted to the old Argonne bubble chamber data for pion production by neutrinos, and we use coherent pion production to test their low $q^2$ behavior. We find moderate effects that will be difficult to observe with the accuracy of present experiments. We also discuss the use of the Rein-Sehgal model for low energy coherent pion production. By comparison to a microscopic calculation, we show the weaknesses of some of the approximations in that model that lead to very large cross sections as well as to the wrong sh…
We re-evaluate our model predictions in Phys. Rev. D 79, 013002 (2009) for different observables in neutrino induced coherent pion production. This comes as a result of the new improved fit to old bubble chamber data of the dominant axial C_5^A nucleon-to-Delta form factor. We find an increase of 20%-30% in the values for the total cross sections. Uncertainties induced by the errors in the determination of C_5^A are computed. Our new results turn out to be compatible within about $1σ$ with the former ones. We also stress the existing tension between the recent experimental determination of the…
We use QCD to compute the cross section for coherent production of a di-jet (treated as a $q\bar q$ moving at high relative transverse momentum,$κ_t $). In the target rest frame, the space-time evolution of this reaction is dominated by the process in which the high $κ_t$ $q\bar q$ component of the pion wave function is formed before reaching the target. It then interacts through two gluon exchange. In the approximation of keeping the leading order in powers of $α_s$ and all orders in $α_{s}\ln(κ_{t}^2/k_{0}^2),$ the amplitudes for other processes are shown to be smaller at least by a power of …
In the framework of the linear sigma model, we study the time evolution of a system of classical $σ$ and pion fields coupled to quarks. For this purpose we solve numerically the classical transport equation for relativistic quarks coupled to the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations for the meson fields. We examine evolution starting from variety of initial conditions corresponding to spherical droplets of hot quark matter, which might mimic the behaviour of a quark plasma produced in high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions. For large droplets we find a strong amplification of the pion field that os…
A dynamical coupled-channels (DCC) model for neutrino-nucleon reactions in the resonance region is developed. Starting from the DCC model that we have previously developed through an analysis of $πN, γN\to πN, ηN, KΛ, KΣ$ reaction data for $W\le 2.1$ GeV, we extend the model of the vector current to $Q^2\le$ 3.0 (GeV/$c$)$^2$ by analyzing electron-induced reaction data for both proton and neutron targets. We derive axial-current matrix elements that are related to the $πN$ interactions of the DCC model through the Partially Conserved Axial Current (PCAC) relation. Consequently, the interferenc…
The recent unbiased measurements of the electric form factor of the neutron suggest that its shape may be interpreted as a smooth broad distribution with a bump at Q^2 \approx 0.3(GeV/c)^2 superimposed. As a consequence the corresponding charge distribution in the Breit frame shows a negative charge extending as far out as 2fm. It is natural to identify this charge with the pion cloud. This realisation is then used to reanalyse all old and new data of the electric and magnetic from factors of the proton and the neutron by a phenomenological fit and by a fit based on the constituent quark model…
Multipion production in high energy nucleus-nucleus collisions is considered in the model of the pion radiation by classical current. Strong coherent effects of narrowing of pion longitudinal and transverse momenta distributions are predicted at the RHIC energy. The coherence enhances the large pseudorapidities producing the bump in the distribution. The growth of the average pion multiplicity and the oscillation effect in the multiplicity distribution are caused by the coherence as well.
A perturbative QCD treatment of the pion wave function is applied to computing the scattering amplitude for coherent high relative momentum di-jet production from a nucleon.
Neutrino-induced pion and photon production from nucleons and nuclei are important for the interpretation of neutrino-oscillation experiments, and these processes are potential backgrounds in the MiniBooNE experiment [A. A. Aquilar-Arevalo \textit{et al.} (MiniBooNE Collaboration), Phys.\ Rev.\ Lett.\ {\bf 100}, 032301 (2008)]. Pion and photon production are investigated at intermediate energies, where the $Δ$ resonance becomes important. The Lorentz-covariant effective field theory contains nucleons, pions, Deltas, isoscalar scalar ($σ$) and vector ($ω$) fields, and isovector vector ($ρ$) fie…
The article begins with a description of chiral symmetry and its application to neutrino induced reactions. For small $Q^2$ (forward direction) the process is dominated by the amplitute with helicity zero where the pion pole disappears when multiplied with the polarization vector. The remaining part of the amplitude is determined by PCAC. For $E_ν> 2$ GeV the computed cross sections are in good agreement with data. In coherent pion production we expect equal yields for neutrinos and antineutrinos a relation which for $E_ν> 2$ GeV is fulfilled. We discuss specific features of the data and sugge…
Making use of the quasi-coherent state developed by Eriksson et al., we can find a nucleon solution accompanied by the pion field with trivial topology. We compare our approach with other related works, and examine a coherent state description of pions in the baryon structure. Our solution suggests a kind of nucleon resonance due to the topological change of pion field without the usual quark excitation.
We formulate the perturbative QCD approach to coherent diffractive dijet production in pion-nucleon and pion-nucleus collisions at high energy. For hard dijets the Pomeron splitting mechanism in which both helicity amplitudes are proportional to the unintegrated gluon structure function of the proton and the pion distribution amplitude is shown to dominate. In nuclear diffraction multiple Pomeron splitting components are found to give antishadowing contributions at large jet momentum. To leading twist there is an exact cancelation of effects of nuclear attenuation and antishadowing/broadening …
In this paper, we investigate the influence of coherent pion emission on long-range azimuthal correlations in relativistic proton-proton collisions. We study the pion momentum distribution for a coherent source with both transverse and Bjorken longitudinal expansions, and calculate the two-particle correlation function $C(Δη,Δϕ)$. A "ridge" structure is observed in the correlation function $C(Δη,Δϕ)$ of the coherent pion emission, whether the coherent source is expanding or static. The onset of this long-range azimuthal correlation can be traced back to the asymmetric initial transverse profil…
A coherent state of pions is introduced to the nonrelativistic quark model. The coherent pair approximation is employed for the pion field in order to maintain the spin-isospin symmetry. In this approximation the pion is localized in the momentum space, and the vertex form factor in the pion-quark interaction is derived from this localization. The nucleon masses and wave functions are calculated using this model, and our results are compared to those of the quark model with the one pion exchange potential. Similar result is obtained for the mass spectrum, but there exists a clear difference in…
Bremsstrahlung of soft chiral pions in high-energy processes is considered. The distribution over number of neutral and charged pions is shown to obey the inverse square root law. This law is argued to be generic for multiple coherent production of soft chiral pions.
Multi-pion correlations and wavepacket size effects on the pion multiplicity distribution, pion momentum distribution and two-pion interferometry are studied. It is shown that multi-pion Bose-Einstein correlations and the wavepacket size cause an abundance of pions at low momentum, increase the mean pion multiplicity and decrease both the apparent radius of the source and the coherent source parameter derived from two-pion interferometry.
We carry out a detailed calculation of the cross section of pion diffraction dissociation into two jets with large transverse momenta, originating from a hard gluon exchange between the pion constituents. Both the quark and the gluon contribution are considered and in the latter case we present calculations both in covariant and in axial gauges. We find that the standard collinear factorization does not hold in this reaction. The structure of non-factorizable contributions is discussed and the results are compared with the experimental data. Our conclusion is that the existing theoretical unce…
We summarise here the main differences of three models of neutrino-induced coherent pion production, namely the Rein-Sehgal and Berger-Sehgal models based on the Partially Conserved Axial Current theorem and the Alvarez-Ruso \textit{et al.} model which is using a microscopic approach. Their predictions in the event generators are compared against recent experimental measurements for a neutrino energy from 0.5 to 20 GeV.
The methods allowing to extract the coherent component of pion emission conditioned by the formation of a quasi-classical pion source in heavy ion collisions are suggested. They exploit a nontrivial modification of the quantum statistical and final state interaction effects on the correlation functions of like and unlike pions in the presence of the coherent radiation. The extraction of the coherent pion spectrum from pi+pi-, pi+pi+ and pi-pi- correlation functions and single--pion spectra is discussed in detail for large expanding systems produced in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions.
The coherent pion production induced by neutrinos in nuclei is studied using a delta hole model in local density approximation taking into account the renormalization of $Δ$ properties in a nuclear medium. The pion absorption effects have been included in an eikonal approximation. These effects give a large reduction in the total cross section. The numerical results for the total cross section are found to be consistent with recent experimental results from K2K and MiniBooNE collaborations and other older experiments in the intermediate energy region.
We investigate the dynamical possibility for the formation of a transient new coherent condition of matter in high--energy hadronic collisions. The coherent bosonic amplitude is characterized by a non--zero momentum and is sustained by $P $--wave interactions of quasi--pions in a dense fermionic medium. We make quantitative estimates of several essential properties: the condensate momentum and the fermionic density, the size of the coherent amplitude and the negative energy density contributed by the condensate, a characteristic proper time for the system to exist prior to breakdown into a few…
Additivity of Breit-Wigner phases has been proposed to describe interfering resonances in partial waves in $ππ$ scattering. This assumption leads to an expression for partial wave amplitudes that involves products of Breit-Wigner amplitudes. We show that this expression is equivalent to a coherent sum of Breit-Wigner amplitudes with specific complex coefficients which depend on the resonance parameters of all contributing resonances. We use analyticity of $ππ$ partial wave amplitudes to show that they must have the form of a coherent sum of Breit-Wigner amplitudes with complex coefficients and…
In this letter, we study the pion momentum distribution of a coherent source and investigate the influences of coherent emission on the pion transverse-momentum ($p_T$) spectrum and elliptic anisotropy. With a partially coherent source, constructed by a conventional viscous hydrodynamics model (chaotic part) and a parameterized expanding coherent source model, we reproduce the pion $p_T$ spectrum and elliptic anisotropy coefficient $v_2(p_T)$ in the peripheral Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=2.76$ TeV. It is found that the influences of coherent emission on the pion $p_T$ spectrum and $v_2(…
It is pointed out that so far all theoretical estimates of coherent pion production off nuclei induced by neutrinos rely on the 'local approximation' well known in photonuclear physics. The effects of dropping this approximation are discussed. It is found that in a plane wave approximation for the pion the local approximation overestimates the coherent neutrino-induced pion production on nuclei.
We use a recently derived result to extract from two-pion interferometry data from $p\bar{p}$ collisions the radius of the coherent component in the source. We find a coherent source radius of about $2 fm$.
Rates of coherent neutrino-nucleus elastic scattering at a high-intensity stopped-pion neutrino source in various detector materials (relevant for novel low-threshold detectors) are calculated. Sensitivity of a coherent neutrino-nucleus elastic scattering experiment to new physics is also explored.
