Berger and Colmez introduced a theory of families of overconvergent étale (Phi,Gamma)-modules associated to families of p-adic Galois representations over p-adic Banach algebras. However, in contrast with the classical theory of (Phi,Gamma)-modules, the functor they obtain is not an equivalence of categories. In this paper, we prove that when the base is an affinoid space, every family of (overconvergent) étale (Phi,Gamma)-modules can locally be converted into a family of p-adic representations in a unique manner, providing the "local" equivalence. There is a global mod p obstruction related to the moduli of residual representations.
We investigate the relation between p-adic Galois representations and overconvergent (phi,Gamma)-modules in families. Especially we construct a natural open subspace of a family of (phi,Gamma)-modules, over which it is induced by a family of Galois-representations.
We prove the finiteness and compatibility with base change of the (phi,Gamma)-cohomology and the Iwasawa cohomology of arithmetic families of (phi,Gamma)-modules. Using this finiteness theorem, we show that a family of Galois representations that is densely pointwise refined in the sense of Mazur is actually trianguline as a family over a large subspace. In the case of the Coleman-Mazur eigencurve, we determine the behavior at all points.
In this paper, given a smooth proper scheme X over a p-adic dvr and a p-power torsion etale local system L on it, we study a family of sheaves associated to the cohomology of local relative (Phi-Gamma)-modules of L and their cohomology. As applications we derive descriptions of the etale cohomology groups on the geometric generic fiber of X with values in L, as well as of their classical (Phi-Gamma)-modules, in terms of cohomology of the above mentioned sheaves.
Main change from v1 : theorem C has been modified, see remark 3.1.7 (2). We study the category of B-pairs (W_e,W_dR^+) where W_e is a free B_cris^{phi=1}-module with a semilinear and continuous action of G_K and where W_dR^+ is a G_K-stable B_dR^+ -lattice in B_dR \otimes W_e. This category contains the category of p-adic representations and is naturally equivalent to the category of all (phi,Gamma)-modules over the Robba ring.
This is is a survey of applications of Fontaine's theory of p-adic representations of local fields (Phi-Gamma-modules) to Galois cohomology of local fields and explicit formulas for the Hilbert symbol in relation with two-dimensional local objects.
We consider stacks of filtered phi-modules over rigid analytic spaces and adic spaces. We show that these modules parametrize p-adic Galois representations of the absolute Galois group of a p-adic field with varying coefficients over an open substack containing all classical points. Further we study a period morphism (defined by Pappas and Rapoport) from a stack parametrizing integral data and determine the image of this morphism.
The goal of this article is to show that the following two categories are equivalent (1) the category of filtered (phi,N,G_K)-modules (2) the category of (phi,Gamma_K)-modules over the Robba ring such that the Lie algebra of Gamma_K acts locally trivially. Furthermore, we show that under this equivalence, the admissible filtered (phi,N,G_K)-modules correspond to the etale (phi,Gamma_K)-modules, which gives a new proof of Colmez-Fontaine's theorem.
The goal of this article is to construct explicitly a p-adic family of representations (which are dihedral representations), to construct their associated (phi,Gamma)-modules by writing down explicit matrices for phi and for the action of Gamma, and finally to determine which of these are trianguline.
The aim of this article is to generalize Kato's (commutative) p-adic local epsilon-conjecture [Ka93b] for families of (phi,Gamma)-modules over the Robba ring. In particular, we prove the generalized local epsilon-conjecture for rank one (phi,Gamma)-modules, which is a generalization of Kato's theorem [Ka93b] for rank one Galois representations. The key ingredients are the recent results of Kedlaya-Pottharst-Xiao [KPX12] on the finiteness of cohomology of (phi,Gamma)-modules and the theory of Bloch-Kato's exponential map for (phi,Gamma)-modules developed in [Na13].
Let K be a finite unramified extension of Q_p. We parametrize the (phi, Gamma)-modules corresponding to reducible two-dimensional mod p representations of G_K and characterize those which have reducible crystalline lifts with certain Hodge-Tate weights.
We provide new proofs of two key results of p-adic Hodge theory: the Fontaine-Wintenberger isomorphism between Galois groups in characteristic 0 and characteristic p, and the Cherbonnier-Colmez theorem on decompletion of (phi, Gamma)-modules. These proofs are derived from joint work with Liu on relative p-adic Hodge theory, and are closely related to Scholze's study of perfectoid algebras and spaces.
Given a p-adic representation of the Galois group of a local field, we show that its Galois cohomology can be computed using the associated etale (phi,Gamma)-module over the Robba ring; this is a variant of a result of Herr. We then establish analogues, for not necessarily etale (phi,Gamma)-modules over the Robba ring, of the Euler-Poincare characteristic formula and Tate local duality for p-adic representations. These results are expected to intervene in the duality theory for Selmer groups associated to de Rham representations.
In a previous paper, we constructed a category of (phi, Gamma)-modules associated to any adic space over Q_p with the property that the etale (phi, Gamma)-modules correspond to etale Q_p-local systems; these involve sheaves of period rings for Scholze's pro-etale topology. In this paper, we first extend Kiehl's theory of coherent sheaves on rigid analytic spaces to a theory of pseudocoherent sheaves on adic spaces, then construct a corresponding theory of pseudocoherent (phi, Gamma)-modules. We then relate these objects to a more explicit construction in case the space comes equipped with a su…
Let K be a complete discretely valued field of mixed characteristics (0, p) with perfect residue field. One of the central objects of study in p-adic Hodge theory is the category of continuous representations of the absolute Galois group of K on finite-dimensional Qp-vector spaces. In recent years, it has become clear that this category can be studied more effectively by embedding it into the larger category of (phi, Gamma)-modules; this larger category plays a role analogous to that played by the category of vector bundles on a compact Riemann surface in the Narasimhan-Seshadri theorem on uni…
This survey article is based on 10 lectures that we gave at the September 2019 Hausdorff School in Bonn on "the Emerton--Gee stack and related topics", and the sections correspond to the original lectures. We have retained the somewhat informal style of some of these lectures, but have filled them out with further details.
We present an explicit approach to the GL(3) Kuznetsov formula. As an application, for a restricted class of test functions, we obtain the low-lying zero densities for the following three families: cuspidal GL(3) Maass forms phi, the symmetric square family sym^2 phi on GL(6), and the adjoint family Ad phi on GL(8). Hence we can identify their symmetry types; they are: unitary, unitary, and symplectic, respectively.
The purpose of this note is to give a direct proof of the fact that if one applies Colmez' functor to a two dimensional irreducible F_p^bar-representation of Gal(Q_p^bar/Q_p), one gets the restriction to the Borel subgroup of GL_2(Q_p) of a supersingular representation.
Let X_d be the p-adic analytic space classifying the d-dimensional (semisimple) p-adic Galois representations of the absolute Galois group of Q_p. We show that the crystalline representations are Zarski-dense in many irreducible components of X_d, including the components made of residually irreducible representations. This extends to any dimension d previous results of Colmez and Kisin for d = 2. For this we construct an analogue of the infinite fern of Gouvêa-Mazur in this context, based on a study of analytic families of trianguline (phi,Gamma)-modules over the Robba ring. We show in partic…
We construct stacks which algebraize Mazur's formal deformation rings of local Galois representations. More precisely, we construct Noetherian formal algebraic stacks over Spf Zp which parameterize étale (phi,Gamma)-modules; the formal completions of these stacks at points in their special fibres recover the universal deformation rings of local Galois representations. We use these stacks to show that all mod p representations of the absolute Galois group of a p-adic local field lift to characteristic zero, and indeed admit crystalline lifts. We also discuss the relationship between the geometr…
Let phi be a morphism of projective N-space defined over a number field K. We prove that there is a bound B depending only on phi such that every twist of phi has no more than B K-rational preperiodic points. (This result is analagous to a result of Silverman for abelian varieties.) For two specific families of quadratic rational maps over Q, we find the bound B explicitly.
Trianguline representations are a certain class of p-adic representations of Gal(Qp^alg/Qp) like the crystalline, semistable and de Rham representations of Fontaine. Their definition involves the theory of (phi,Gamma)-modules. In this survey, we explain the theory of (phi,Gamma)-modules and the definition and properties of trianguline representations. After that, we give some examples of their occurrence in arithmetic geometry.
Let phi: P^1 --> P^1 be a rational map defined over a field K. We construct the moduli space M_d(N) parameterizing conjugacy classes of degree-d maps with a point of formal period N and present an algebraic proof that M_2(N) is geometrically irreducible for N>1. Restricting ourselves to maps phi of arbitrary degree d >= 2 such that the composition h^{-1} phi h = phi for some nontrivial h in PGL_2, we show that the moduli space parameterizing these maps with a point of formal period N is geometrically reducible for infinitely many N.
Building on foundations introduced in a previous paper, we give several p-adic analytic descriptions of the categories of etale Zp-local systems and etale Qp-local systems on an affinoid algebra over a finite extension of Qp (or more generally, over the fraction field of the Witt vectors of a perfect field of characteristic p). These include generalizations of Fontaine's theory of (phi, Gamma)-modules, the refinement of Fontaine's construction introduced by Cherbonnier and Colmez, and a recent description by Fargues and Fontaine in terms of semistable vector bundles on a certain scheme. Our de…
We apply the theory of families of (phi,Gamma)-modules to trianguline families as defined by Chenevier. This yields a new definition of Kisin's finite slope subspace as well as higher dimensional analogues. Especially we show that these finite slope spaces contain eigenvarieties for unitary groups as closed subspaces. This implies that the representations arising from overconvergent p-adic automorphic forms on certain unitary groups are trianguline when restricted to the local Galois group.
We construct explicitly some analytic families of etale (phi,Gamma)-modules, which give rise to analytic families of 2-dimensional crystalline representations. As an application of our constructions, we verify some conjectures of Breuil on the reduction modulo p of those representations, and extend some results (of Deligne, Edixhoven, Fontaine and Serre) on the representations arising from modular forms.
We prove a GL(n)xGL(n-1) local converse theorem for l-adic families of smooth representations of GL(n,F) where F is a finite extension of Q_p and l is different from p. To do so, we also extend the theory of Rankin-Selberg integrals, first introduced by Jacquet, Piatetski-Shapiro, and Shalika, to the setting of families, continuing previous work of the author.
Let F be a p-adic field, W_F its absolute Weil group, and let k be an algebraically closed field of prime characteristic l different from p. Attached to any l-adic representation of W_F are local epsilon- and L-factors. There are natural notions of families of l-adic representations of W_F, such as the theory of Galois deformations or, more generally, families over arbitrary Noetherian W(k)-algebras. However, the epsilon and L-factors do not interpolate well in such families. In this paper it is shown that the gamma factor, which is the product of the epsilon factor with a ratio of L-factors, …
We prove the local epsilon-isomorphism conjecture of Fukaya and Kato [FK06] for certain crystalline families of G_Qp-representations. This conjecture can be regarded as a local analogue of the Iwasawa main conjecture for families. Our work extends earlier work of Kato for rank-1 modules (cf. [Ven13]), of Benois and Berger for crystalline G_Qp-representations with respect to the cyclotomic extension (cf. [BB08]), as well as of Loeffler, Venjakob, and Zerbes (cf. [LVZ13]) for crystalline G_Qp- representations with respect to abelian p-adic Lie extensions of Qp. Nakamura [Nak13, Nak14] has also f…
We extend the theory of local constants to l-adic families of representations of GL_n(F) where F is a p-adic field with l not equal to p. We construct zeta integrals and gamma factors for representations coming from the conjectural "local Langlands correspondence in families" of Emerton-Helm, proving a rationality result and functional equation. We also construct a universal gamma factor with coefficients in the integral Bernstein center.
