We study heavy-heavy and heavy-light quark systems for charm with a relativistic heavy quark action in 2+1 flavor lattice QCD. Configurations are generated by the PACS-CS Collaboration at the lattice spacing is $a=0.09$ fm with the lattice size of $32^3\times 64$ employing the $O(a)$-improved Wilson quark action and the Iwasaki gauge action. We present preliminary results for the charmonium spectrum and the $D$ and $D_s$ meson decay constants evaluated at 3.5 MeV$< m_{\rm ud}<$ 12 MeV with $m_{\rm s}$ around the physical value. We investigate the dynamical quark mass dependences of the hyperfine and the orbital splittings. The decay constants are compared with the recent experimental values.
The CP-PACS and JLQCD Collaborations have been made systematic studies of lattice QCD carrying out both chiral and continuum extrapolations. Importance of dynamical quark effects has been clarified by a comparison of quenched QCD and two flavor full QCD simulations. In two flavor simulations, the dynamical effects of $u$ and $d$ quarks are taken into account, but the third quark $s$ is still treated in a quenched approximation. As the final step towards a fully realistic lattice simulation of QCD, two collaborations started a joint project of three flavor QCD, concentrating all big computers a…
CP-PACS and JLQCD Collaborations are carrying out a joint project of the 2+1 flavor full QCD with the RG-improved gauge action and the non-perturbatively ${\cal O}(a)$-improved Wilson quark action. This simulation removes quenching effects of all three light quarks, which is the last major uncertainty in lattice QCD. In this report we present our results for the light meson spectrum and quark masses on a $20^3\times 40$ lattice at the lattice spacing $a\simeq 0.10$ fm.
We present a summary of our results for the light hadron spectrum in quenched lattice QCD and preliminary ones in two-flavor full QCD. For the quenched hadron spectrum we find that the mass formulae predicted by quenched chiral perturbation theory(QChPT) give a good description of our results. Employing the QChPT mass formulae for chiral extrapolations we conclude that the mass spectrum in the continuum limit deviates unambiguously and systematically from experiment. For our two-flavor full QCD results we focus on the dynamical quark effects on the light hadron spectrum.
Two of recent progress in lattice QCD approach to nuclear force are reported. (i) Tensor force from quenched lattice QCD: By truncating the derivative expansion of inter-nucleon potential to the strictly local terms, we obtain central force V_C(r) and tensor force V_T(r) separately from s-wave and d-wave components of Bethe-Salpeter wave function for two nucleon state with J^P=1^+. Numerical calculation is performed with quenched QCD on 32^4 lattice using the standard plaquette action at beta=5.7 with the standard Wilson quark action with kappa=0.1640, 0.1665, 0.1678. Preliminary results show …
We report on the PACS-CS project focusing on a direct simulation of 2+1 flavor QCD on the physical point and chiral analysis of meson and baryon masses off the physical point with both the SU(2) and SU(3) chiral perturbation theories. Configurations are generated with the O(a)-improved Wilson quark action and the Iwasaki gauge action. The up-down quark is simulated by employing the DDHMC algorithm with several improvements and the UV-filtered PHMC algorithm is implemented for the strange quark. We investigate the convergence behaviors of the SU(2) and SU(3) chiral expansions up to NLO for the …
We consider 2+1 flavor Wilson Chiral Perturbation Theory including the lattice spacing contributions of O($a^{2}$). We adopt a power counting appropriate for the unquenched lattice simulations carried out by the CP-PACS/JLQCD collaboration and compute the pseudo scalar meson masses to one loop. These expression are required to perform the chiral extrapolation of the CP-PACS/JLQCD lattice data.
We present preliminary results of an ongoing lattice QCD computation of the spectrum of $D$ mesons and $D_s$ mesons and of charmonium using 2+1+1 flavors of twisted mass sea and valence quarks.
Using the high statistics datasets of the HotQCD Collaboration, generated with the HISQ (2+1)-flavor action for light and strange quarks, and treating the charm sector in the quenched approximation, we analyze the second and fourth order cumulants of charm fluctuations and the correlations of charm with lighter conserved flavor quantum numbers. We can make use of a factor 100 larger statistics on ${N_τ=8}$ lattices which never have been used in studies of charm fluctuations. Analyzing correlations of charm fluctuations with baryon number and electric charge fluctuations we can project onto cha…
We present a calculation of the charmonium spectrum with three flavors of dynamical staggered quarks from gauge configurations that were generated by the MILC collaboration. We use the Fermilab action for the valence charm quarks. Our calculation of the spin-averaged 1P--1S and 2S--1S splittings yields a determination of the strong coupling, with $\ams(M_Z) = 0.119 (4)$.
We investigate the charm quark system on 2+1 flavor PACS-CS configurations. Calculations are performed at the lattice spacing $a^{-1}=2.194(10)$ GeV and the spatial extent $L=2.9$ fm with O(a)-improved Wilson fermions for the light quarks and the relativistic heavy fermion for the charm quark. Our dynamical $ud$ and strange quark masses and valence charm quark mass are set to their physical values. A comparison of the mass spectrum and decay constants with experiments is presented. Our results for the charm quark mass and CKM matrix elements are also reported.
Experimentally the charmonium hyperfine splitting is $M_{J/ψ}-M_{η_c}=117$ MeV and current lattice results are generally below this value. The difference could be due to the effects of the disconnected flavor singlet diagrams which have not been included in these calculations. Previous attempts to determine the disconnected flavor singlet corrections have led just to rough estimates in the range of $\pm 20$ MeV. We present preliminary results for these corrections calculated on fine ($a\approx 0.09$ fm) Asqtad 2+1 flavor lattices provided by the MILC Collaboration.
We investigate the charmed baryon mass spectrum using the relativistic heavy quark action on 2+1 flavor PACS-CS configurations previously generated on $32^3 \times 64$ lattice. The dynamical up-down and strange quark masses are set to the physical values by using the technique of reweighting to shift the quark hopping parameters from the values employed in the configuration generation. At the physical point, the lattice spacing equals $a^{-1}=2.194(10)$ GeV and the spatial extent $L=2.88(1)$ fm. Our results for the charmed baryon masses are consistent with experiments except for $Ξ_{cc}$, whic…
We report on a study of 2+1 flavor lattice QCD with the $O(a)$-improved Wilson quarks on a $16^3\times 32$ lattice at the lattice spacing $1/a\approx 2$GeV employing Luescher's domain-decomposed HMC(LDDHMC) algorithm. This is dedicated to a preliminary study for the PACS-CS project which plans to complete the Wilson-clover $N_f=2+1$ program lowering the up-down quark masses close to the physical values as much as possible. We focus on three issues: (i) how light quark masses we can reach with LDDHMC, (ii) efficiency of the algorithm compared with the conventional HMC, (iii) parameter choice fo…
We use the dynamical gluon configurations provided by the MILC collaboration in a study of the charmonium spectrum and psi leptonic width. We examine sea quark effects on mass splitting and on the leptonic decay matrix element for light masses as low as m_s/5, while keeping the strange quark mass fixed and the lattice spacing nearly constant.
Many exotic charmonium resonances have been identified recently in experiment, however their nature and properties are mostly unknown. Algorithmic and theoretical progress in lattice calculations has enabled reliable numerical investigation of the spectrum below the strong decay threshold, while the study of charmonium resonances remains an open challenge. The main difficulty to overcome is the presence of many open decay channels which are coupled together, resulting in a complex finite volume quantization condition. We report on our recent progress towards the determination of single-channel…
We present a preliminary calculation of the charmonium spectrum using the dynamical 2+1 flavor $24^3\times 64$ domain wall fermion lattice configurations generated by the RBC and UKQCD collaborations. We use the relativistic heavy quark action with 3 parameters non-perturbatively determined by matching to experimental quantities. Chiral extrapolation is done on four light sea quark masses from 0.005 to 0.03, with $m_s=0.04$ and $m_{res}=0.003$. We can either predict meson masses assuming the lattice spacing is known from other methods, or calculate the lattice spacing using those quantities.
We investigate the charmed baryon mass spectrum using the relativistic heavy quark action on 2+1 flavor PACS-CS configurations previously generated on $32^3 \times 64$ lattice. The dynamical up-down and strange quark masses are tuned to their physical values, reweighted from those employed in the configuration generation. At the physical point, the inverse lattice spacing determined from the $Ω$ baryon mass gives $a^{-1}=2.194(10)$ GeV, and thus the spatial extent becomes $L = 32 a = 2.88(1)$ fm. Our results for the charmed baryon masses are consistent with experimental values, except for the …
We present results on the axial, scalar and tensor isovector-couplings of the nucleon from 2+1 flavor lattice QCD with physical light quarks ($m_π$ = 135 MeV) in large spatial volume of (10.8 fm)$^3$. The calculations are carried out with the PACS10 gauge configurations generated by the PACS Collaboration with the stout-smeared $\mathcal{O}(a)$ improved Wilson fermions and Iwasaki gauge action at $β=1.82$ corresponding to the lattice spacing of 0.084 fm. For the renormalization, we use the RI/SMOM scheme, a variant of Rome-Southampton RI/MOM scheme with reduced systematic errors, as the interm…
Heavy-light meson system is investigated using the relativistic heavy quark action on the 2+1 dynamical flavor PACS-CS configurations at the lattice spacing $a^{-1}=2.2$ GeV and the spatial extent L=3 fm. Dynamical up-down and strange quark masses as well as the valence charm quark mass are set around their physical values. We measure the charm-$ud$ and charm-strange meson masses and decay constants. Our results are consistent with the experimental values except the hyperfine splitting of the charm-strange meson. We also estimate the CKM matrix elements in the second row.
We present our progress report on 1+1+1 flavor QCD+QED simulation at the physical point. Calculations are carried out with 2+1 flavor QCD gauge configurations generated by the PACS-CS Collaboration. The dynamical QED effect and the up-down quark mass difference are incorporated by the reweighting technique. We also discuss some physics results.
We present preliminary results of the calculation of the positive-parity ground state charm baryon spectrum using of N_f=2+1+1$ dynamical quarks. The calculation uses a relativistic heavy-quark action for the valence charm quark, clover-Wilson fermions for the valence light quarks and HISQ sea quarks. The spectrum is calculated with a lightest pion mass around 220 MeV and two lattice spacings ($a\sim0.12$ fm and 0.09 fm) are used to extrapolate to continuum limit. Our preliminary results are consistent with the currently measured baryon spectrum, except for the isospin-averaged $J=1/2$ $Ξ_{cc}…
Lattice calculations of the form factors for the charm semileptonic decays D to K l nu and D to pi l nu provide inputs to direct determinations of the CKM matrix elements |V(cs)| and |V(cd)| and can be designed to validate calculations of the form factors for the bottom semileptonic decays B to pi l nu and B to K l l-bar. We are using Fermilab charm (bottom) quarks and asqtad staggered light quarks on the 2+1 flavor asqtad MILC ensembles to calculate the charm (bottom) form factors. We outline improvements to the previous calculation of the charm form factors and detail our progress. We expect…
We present results for the mass spectrum of charm and bottom heavy baryons, using MILC coarse lattice configurations with 2+1 flavors. Clover heavy quark propagators with the Fermilab interpretation and improved staggered light quark propagators are used to construct two point functions with local operators for different flavor and spin states.
We investigate the charm quark system using the relativistic heavy quark action on 2+1 flavor PACS-CS configurations previously generated on $32^3 \times 64$ lattice. The charm quark mass is determined by the spin-averaged mass of the 1S charmonium state, from which we obtain…
We report on an on-going two-flavor full QCD study on CP-PACS using an RG-improved gauge action and a tadpole-improved SW quark action. Runs are made for three lattice spacings $a^{-1}\approx 0.9$, 1.3, and 2.5 GeV on $12^3\times24$, $16^3\times32$, and $24^3\times48$ lattices. Four sea quark masses having $m_{\rm PS}/m_{\rm V} \approx 0.8$--0.6 are simulated, for each of which hadron masses are evaluated for valence quark masses corresponding to $m_{\rm PS}/m_{\rm V} \approx 0.8$--0.5. Results for hadron and light quark masses are presented and compared with those obtained in quenched QCD.
We present results for the mass of the flavor singlet meson calculated on two-flavor full QCD configurations generated by the CP-PACS full QCD project. We also investigate topological charge fluctuations and their dependence on the sea quark mass.
Charmonium spectroscopy with Kogut-Susskind valence quarks are carried out for quenched QCD at $β=6.0$ and for two-flavor full QCD at $β=5.7$. Results for 1P--1S mass splitting and estimates of $α^{(5)}_{\overline{MS}}(m_Z)$ are reported. Problems associated with flavor breaking effects and finite size effects of $1P$ states are discussed.
The charmonium-nucleon interaction is studied by the time-dependent HAL QCD method. We use a larger lattice volume and the relativistic heavy quark action for charm quark to obtain less systematic errors than those in our previous study. As a result, the sizable J/$ψ$N hyperfine splitting is observed, indicating that the spin-spin interaction is important to understand this system quantitatively. No J/$ψ$N or $η_c$N bound state is observed below the thresholds as in the previous results.
We present results for the low-lying spectrum of D and D_s mesons from a lattice QCD calculation on 2+1 flavor Clover-Wilson configurations generated by the PACS-CS collaboration. In particular S- and P-wave states of charmed and charmed-strange mesons are explored for pion masses down to 156MeV. For the heavy quark, the Fermilab method is employed. In addition to ground states, some excited states are extracted using the variational method. To check our setup, calculations of the charmonium spectrum are also carried out. For charmonium, the low-lying spectrum agrees favorably with experiment.…
By combining experimentally measured partial branching fractions for the semileptonic decays D to K l nu and D to pi l nu with lattice calculations of the form factors f_+^{D to K}(q^2) and f_+^{D to pi}(q^2), one can extract the CKM matrix elements |V_{cs}| and |V_{cd}|. We are calculating the form factors by using Fermilab charm and asqtad staggered light and strange quarks on 2+1 flavor asqtad staggered ensembles generated by the MILC Collaboration. We vary the light valence quark masses from 0.4m_s to 0.05m_s (m_s is the strange sea-quark mass), and the lattice spacings, from about 0.12 fm…
We present spin-independent and spin-spin interquark potentials for the charmonium and charmed-strange mesons, which are calculated in 2+1 flavor lattice QCD simulations using the PACS-CS gauge configurations generated at the lightest pion mass ($M_π\approx 156(7)$~MeV) with a lattice cutoff of $a^{-1}\approx 2.2$ GeV and a spatial volume of $(3~{\rm fm})^3$. For the charm quark, we use a relativistic heavy quark (RHQ) action with fine tuned RHQ parameters, which closely reproduce both the experimental spin-averaged mass and hyper-fine splitting of the $1S$ charmonium. The interquark potential…
We have greatly extended an earlier calculation of the charmonium spectrum on three flavor dynamical quark ensembles by using more recent ensembles generated by the MILC collaboration. The heavy quarks are treated using the Fermilab formulation. The charmonium state masses are in reasonable agreement with the observed spectrum; however, some of the spin splittings may still be too small.
We present a status report of our calculation of the electromagnetic form factor of the pion on the PACS-CS gauge field configurations generated using Iwasaki gauge action and Wilson-clover quark action for 2 + 1 flavors of light dynamical quarks. The technique of twiseted boundary conditon is employed to explore the form factor for small momentum transfer. The $q^2$ behavior of the form factor and its light quark mass dependence is examined.
We report our analysis for the static energy in (2+1+1)-flavor QCD over a wide range of lattice spacings and several quark masses. We obtain results for the static energy out to distances of nearly 1 fm, allowing us to perform a simultaneous determination of the lattice scales $r_2$, $r_1$ and $r_0$ as well as the string tension, $σ$. While our results for ${r_0}/{r_1}$ and $r_0$ $\sqrtσ$ agree with published (2+1)-flavor results, our result for ${r_1}/{r_2}$ differs significantly from the value obtained in the (2+1)-flavor case, likely due to the effect of the charm quark. We study in detail …
We compute charmonium spectral functions in 2-flavor QCD on anisotropic lattices using the maximum entropy method. Our results suggest that the S-waves (J/psi and eta_c) survive up to temperatures close to 2Tc, while the P-waves (chi_c0 and chi_c1) melt away below 1.2Tc.
We study the scattering of the light-flavor pseudoscalar mesons ($π, K, η$) off the ground-state charmed mesons ($D,D_s$) within chiral effective field theory. The recent lattice simulation results on various scattering lengths and the finite-volume spectra both in the moving and center-of-mass frames, most of which are obtained at unphysical meson masses, are used to constrain the free parameters in our theory. Explicit formulas to include the $S$- and $P$-wave mixing to determine the finite-volume energy levels are provided. After a successful reproduction of the lattice data, we perform a c…
We present a determination of the strange, charm and bottom quark masses as well as the strong coupling constant in 2+1 flavor lattice QCD simulations using highly improved staggered quark action. The ratios of the charm quark mass to the strange quark mass and the bottom quark mass to the charm quark mass are obtained from the meson masses calculated on the lattice and found to be $m_c/m_s=11.871(91)$ and $m_b/m_c=4.528(57)$ in the continuum limit. We also determine the strong coupling constant and the charm quark mass using the moments of pseudoscalar charmonium correlators: $α_s(μ=m_c)=0.36…
We extend the two-flavor hard-wall holographic model of Erlich, Katz, Son and Stephanov [Phys.\ Rev.\ Lett.\ {\bf 95}, 261602 (2005)] to four flavors to incorporate strange and charm quarks. The model incorporates chiral and flavor symmetry breaking and provides a reasonable description of masses and weak decay constants of a variety of scalar, pseudoscalar, vector and axial-vector strange and charmed mesons. In particular, we examine flavor symmetry breaking in the strong couplings of the $ρ$ meson to the charmed $D$ and $D^{*}$ mesons. We also compute electromagnetic form factors of the $π$,…
We present the first lattice QCD calculation with realistic sea quark content of the D^+ meson decay constant f_{D^+}. We use the MILC Collaboration's publicly available ensembles of lattice gauge fields, which have a quark sea with two flavors (up and down) much lighter than a third (strange). We obtain f_{D^+} = 201 +/- 3 +/- 17 MeV, where the errors are statistical and a combination of systematic errors. We also obtain f_{D_s} = 249 +/- 3 +/- 16 MeV for the D_s meson.
We present both spin-independent and -dependent parts of a central interquark potential for charmonium states, which is calculated in 2+1 flavor dynamical lattice QCD using the PACS-CS gauge configurations with a lattice cutoff of a^{-1}~2.2 GeV. Our simulations are performed with a relativistic heavy quark action for the charm quark at the lightest pion mass, M_π=156(7) MeV, in a spatial volume of 3fm^3. We observe that the spin-independent charmonium potential obtained from lattice QCD with almost physical quark masses is quite similar to the Conrnell potential used in non-relativistic poten…
We present the results of a calculation of the positive-parity ground-state charmed-baryon spectrum using 2+1+1 flavors of dynamical quarks. The calculation uses a relativistic heavy-quark action for the valence charm quark, clover-Wilson fermions for the valence light and strange quarks, and HISQ sea quarks. The spectrum is calculated with a lightest pion mass around 220 MeV, and three lattice spacings (a \approx 0.12 fm, 0.09 fm, and 0.06 fm) are used to extrapolate to the continuum. The light-quark mass extrapolation is performed using heavy-hadron chiral perturbation theory up to O(m_pi^3)…
In the present work, we study the OZI-allowed three body open flavor decay properties of higher vector charmonium and bottomonium states with an extended quark pair creation model. For the bottomonium system, we get that (i) the $BBπ$ and $B^*B^*π$ partial decay widths of the $Υ(5S)$ state are consistent with the experiment, and the $BB^*π$ partial decay width of the $Υ(5S)$ state is smaller but very close to the Belle's experiment. Meanwhile, (ii) the $BB^*π$ and $B^*B^*π$ decay widths of $Υ(11020)$ can reachs $2\sim3$ MeV. In addition, (iii) for the most of higher vector charmonium states, t…
The masses of the low-lying strange and charm baryons are evaluated using two degenerate flavors of twisted mass sea quarks for pion masses in the range of about 260 MeV to 450 MeV. The strange and charm valence quark masses are tuned to reproduce the mass of the kaon and D-meson at the physical point. The tree-level Symanzik improved gauge action is employed. We use three values of the lattice spacing, corresponding to $β=3.9$, $β=4.05$ and $β=4.2$ with $r_0/a=5.22(2)$, $r_0/a=6.61(3)$ and $r_0/a=8.31(5)$ respectively. %spacings $a=0.0855(5)$ and $a=0.0667(3)$ determined from the pion decay c…
We present spin-independent and spin-spin interquark potentials for charmonium states, that are calculated using a relativistic heavy quark action for charm quarks on the PACS-CS gauge configurations generated with the Iwasaki gauge action and 2+1 flavors of Wilson clover quark. The interquark potential with finite quark masses is defined through the equal-time Bethe-Salpeter amplitude. The light and strange quark masses are close to the physical point where the pion mass corresponds to $M_π\approx 156(7)$ MeV, and charm quark mass is tuned to reproduce the experimental values of $η_c$ and $J/…
Results are presented for the low-lying spectrum of D and D_s mesons calculated in lattice QCD using 2+1 flavor Clover-Wilson configurations made available by the PACS-CS collaboration. For the heavy quark, the Fermilab method is employed. The main focus is S- and P-wave states of charmed and charmed-strange mesons, where previous lattice QCD results have been mostly from quenched calculations. In addition to the ground states, some excited states are extracted. To check the method, calculations of the charmonium spectrum are also carried out. For charmonium, the low-lying spectrum agrees favo…
The discovery of three pentaquark peaks -- the $P_c(4312)$, $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$ -- by the LHCb collaboration has a series of interesting consequences for hadron spectroscopy. If these hidden-charm objects are indeed hadronic molecules, as suspected, they will be constrained by heavy-flavor and SU(3)-flavor symmetries. The combination of these two symmetries will imply the existence of a series of five-flavor pentaquarks with quark content $\bar{b} c s d u$ and $b \bar{c} s d u$, that is, pentaquarks that contain each of the five quark flavors that hadronize. In addition, from SU(3)-fla…
We present a calculation of the strangeness and charmness contents <N|\bar{s}s|N> and <N|\bar{c}c|N> of the nucleon from dynamical lattice QCD with 2+1 flavors. The calculation is performed with overlap valence quarks on 2+1-flavor domain-wall fermion gauge configurations. The configurations are generated by the RBC collaboration on a 24^3*64 lattice with sea quark mass am_l=0.005, am_s=0.04, and inverse lattice spacing a^{-1}=1.73GeV. Both actions have chiral symmetry which is essential in avoiding contamination due to the operator mixing with other flavors. Nucleon propagator and the quark l…
We calculate the low-lying spectrum of charmed baryons in lattice QCD on the $32^3\times64$, $N_f=2+1$ PACS-CS gauge configurations at the almost physical pion mass of $\sim 156$ MeV/c$^2$. By employing a set of interpolating operators with different Dirac structures and quark-field smearings for the variational analysis, we extract the ground and first few excited states of the spin-$1/2$ and spin-$3/2$, singly-, doubly-, and triply-charmed baryons. Additionally, we study the $Ξ_c$-$Ξ_c^\prime$ mixing and the operator dependence of the excited states in a variational approach. We identify sev…
Using the axial-vector coupling and the electromagnetic form factors of the D and D* mesons in 2+1 flavor Lattice QCD, we compute the D*Dπ, DDρand D*D*ρcoupling constants, which play an important role in describing the charm hadron interactions in terms of meson-exchange models. We also extract the charge radii of D and D* mesons and determine the contributions of the light and charm quarks separately.
We study $Λ$ baryons of spin-parity $\frac{1}{2}^{\pm}$ with either a strange or charm valence quark in full 2+1 flavor lattice QCD. Multiple $SU(3)$ singlet and octet operators are employed to generate the desired single baryon states on the lattice. Via the variational method, the couplings of these states to the different operators provide information about the flavor structure of the $Λ$ baryons. We make use of the gauge configurations of the PACS-CS Collaboration and chirally extrapolate the results for the masses and $SU(3)$ flavor components to the physical point. We furthermore gradual…
On a lattice with 2+1-flavor dynamical domain-wall fermions at the physical pion mass, we calculate the decay constants of $D_{s}^{(*)}$, $D^{(*)}$ and $ϕ$. The lattice size is $48^3\times96$, which corresponds to a spatial extension of $\sim5.5$ fm with the lattice spacing $a\approx 0.114$ fm. For the valence light, strange and charm quarks, we use overlap fermions at several mass points close to their physical values. Our results at the physical point are $f_D=213(5)$ MeV, $f_{D_s}=249(7)$ MeV, $f_{D^*}=234(6)$ MeV, $f_{D_s^*}=274(7)$ MeV, and $f_ϕ=241(9)$ MeV. The couplings of $D^*$ and $D_…
I review highlights of recent results in quark-flavor physics and heavy-quark spectroscopy from lattice QCD, with emphasis on $B$-meson decays and excited and exotic charmonium states.
