Finite Unified Theories (FUTs) are N=1 supersymmetric Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) which can be made finite to all-loop orders, leading to a drastic reduction in the number of free parameters. By confronting the predictions of SU(5) FUTs with the top and bottom quark masses we are able to discriminate among different models. Including further low-energy phenomenology constraints, such as B physics observables, the bound on the SM Higgs mass and the cold dark matter density, we derive predictions for the lightest Higgs boson mass and the sparticle spectrum.
We formulate a generalization of Higgs effective field theory (HEFT) including arbitrary number of extra neutral and charged Higgs bosons (generalized HEFT, GHEFT) to describe non-minimal electroweak symmetry breaking models. Using the geometrical form of the GHEFT Lagrangian, which can be regarded as a nonlinear sigma model on a scalar manifold, it is shown that the scalar boson scattering amplitudes are described in terms of the Riemann curvature tensor (geometry) of the scalar manifold and the covariant derivatives of the potential. The coefficients of the one-loop divergent terms in the ob…
In this paper, we investigate the finiteness of the Higgs effective potential in an ${\rm SU}(\mathcal N)$ Gauge-Higgs Unification (GHU) model defined on ${\bf M}^4\times S^1$. We obtain the Higgs effective potential at the two-loop level and find that it is finite. We also discuss that the Higgs effective potential is generically divergent for three- or higher-loop levels. As an example, we consider an ${\rm SU}(\mathcal N)$ gauge theory on ${\bf M}^5\times S^1$, where the one-loop corrections to the four-Fermi operators are divergent. We find that the Higgs effective potential depends on the…
Motivated by models for neutrino masses and lepton mixing, we consider the renormalization of the lepton sector of a general multi-Higgs-doublet Standard Model with an arbitrary number of right-handed neutrino singlets. We propose to make the theory finite by $\overline{\mbox{MS}}$ renormalization of the parameters of the unbroken theory. However, using a general $R_ξ$ gauge, in the explicit one-loop computations of one-point and two-point functions it becomes clear that---in addition---a renormalization of the vacuum expectation values (VEVs) is necessary. Moreover, in order to ensure vanishi…
Different approaches are used for the calculation of the SM-like Higgs boson mass in the MSSM: the fixed-order diagrammatic approach is accurate for low SUSY scales; the EFT approach, for high SUSY scales. Hybrid approaches, combining fixed-order and EFT calculations, allow to obtain a precise prediction also for intermediary SUSY scales. Here, we briefly discuss the hybrid approach implemented into the code FeynHiggs. In addition, we show how the refined Higgs mass prediction was used to define new MSSM Higgs benchmark scenarios.
We discuss recent progress in Standard Model predictions related to Higgs boson physics at the LHC and comment on the combination of higher order corrections with potential effects of heavy New Physics parametrised by Effective Field Theories.
Maximally Symmetric $n$-Higgs Doublet Models (MS-$n$HDMs)define very economic settings that enable sharp Higgs-sector predictions beyond the Standard Model (SM) potentially testable at high-energy colliders. The scalar potential of a MS-$n$HDM obeys an $\mathrm{Sp(2}n)$ symmetry, which is softly broken by bilinear scalar masses and explicitly by hypercharge and Yukawa couplings through renormalisation-group effects. The $\mathrm{Sp(2}n)$ also ensures natural SM alignment and allows for quartic coupling unification up to the Planck scale. As typical examples, we consider maximally symmetric rea…
We address the prediction for the mass of the SM-like Higgs boson in NMSSM scenarios where all BSM particles, including the singlets, have masses at the TeV scale. We provide a full one-loop computation of the matching condition for the quartic Higgs coupling in the NMSSM, supplemented with the two-loop contributions that involve the strong gauge coupling. We discuss the impact of the one- and two-loop corrections that are specific to the NMSSM on the prediction for the Higgs mass, and propose a method to estimate of the uncertainty associated with the uncomputed higher-order terms. Finally, w…
How can the Standard model Higgs and also the extensions of the Higgs to Yukawa's scalars be interpreted in the spin-charge-family theory and to what predictions about the Higgs does this theory lead?
We consider the triple coupling of the Higgs boson in the context of the gauge-Higgs unification scenario. We show that the triple coupling of the Higgs boson in this scenario generically deviates from SM prediction since the Higgs potential in this scenario has a periodicity. We calculate the coupling in the five-dimensional $SU(3)$ x $U(1)_X$ gauge-Higgs unification model and obtain 70% deviation from the SM prediction.
Recent work on calculating string theory landscape statistical predictions for the Higgs and sparticle mass spectrum from an assumed power-law soft term distribution yields an expectation for m(h)~ 125 GeV with sparticles (save light higgsinos) somewhat beyond reach of high-luminosity LHC. A recent examination of statistics of SUSY breaking in IIB string models with stabilized moduli suggests a power-law for models based on KKLT stabilization and uplifting while models based on large-volume scenario (LVS) instead yield an expected logarithmic soft term distribution. We evaluate statistical dis…
The evaluation of three-loop contributions to the MSSM Higgs-boson mass is considered at the orders enhanced by the strong gauge coupling and top or bottom Yukawa couplings, i.e. at the orders $O(α_{t,b}α_s^2,α_{t,b}^2α_s,α_{t,b}^3)$. We prove that regularization by dimensional reduction preserves supersymmetry at the required level. Thus generating counterterms by multiplicative renormalization is correct. Technically, we extend a previous two-loop analysis to the three-loop level. The extension covers not only the genuine three-loop Higgs potential counterterms but also a large sector of two…
