We construct soliton solutions for non-abelian loop Toda equations associated with general linear groups. Here we consider the untwisted case only and use the rational dressing method based upon appropriate block-matrix representation suggested by the initial $\bbZ$-gradation.
We consider abelian twisted loop Toda equations associated with the complex general linear groups. The Dodd--Bullough--Mikhailov equation is a simplest particular case of the equations under consideration. We construct new soliton solutions of these Toda equations using the method of rational dressing.
We find new solutions, including soliton-like ones, for a special case of non-Abelian loop Toda equations associated with complex general linear groups. We use the method of rational dressing based on an appropriate block-matrix representation suggested by the Z-gradation under consideration. We present solutions in a form of a direct matrix generalization of the Hirota's soliton solution already well-known for the case of Abelian loop Toda systems.
We construct the classical W-algebras for some non-abelian Toda systems associated with the Lie groups GL(2n,R) and Sp(n,R). We start with the set of characteristic integrals and find the Poisson brackets for the corresponding Hamiltonian counterparts. The convenient block matrix representation for the Toda equations is used. The infinitesimal symmetry transformations generated by the elements of the W-algebras are presented.
We present a systematic and detailed review of the application of the method of Hirota and the rational dressing method to abelian Toda systems associated with the untwisted loop groups of complex general linear groups. Emphasizing the rational dressing method, we compare the soliton solutions constructed within these two approaches, and show that the solutions obtained by the Hirota's method are a subset of those obtained by the rational dressing method.
A connection between matrix orthogonal polynomials and non-abelian integrable lattices is investigated in this paper. The normalization factors of matrix orthogonal polynomials expressed by quasi-determinant are shown to be solutions of non-abelian Toda lattice in semi-discrete and full-discrete cases. Moreover, with a moment modification method, we demonstrate that the Bäcklund transformation of non-abelian Toda given by Popowicz is equivalent to the non-abelian Volterra lattice, whose solutions could be expressed by quasi-determinants as well.
The symmetries of the simplest non-abelian Toda equations are discussed. The set of characteristic integrals whose Hamiltonian counterparts form a W-algebra, is presented.
Toda field theories are important integrable systems. They can be regarded as constrained WZNW models, and this viewpoint helps to give their explicit general solutions, especially when a Drinfeld-Sokolov gauge is used. The main objective of this paper is to carry out this approach of solving the Toda field theories for the classical Lie algebras. In this process, we discover and prove some algebraic identities for principal minors of special matrices. The known elegant solutions of Leznov fit in our scheme in the sense that they are the general solutions to our conditions discovered in this s…
A general family of matrix valued Hermite type orthogonal polynomials is introduced and studied in detail by deriving Pearson equations for the weight and matrix valued differential equations for these matrix polynomials. This is used to derive Rodrigues formulas, explicit formulas for the squared norm and to give an explicit expression of the matrix entries as well to derive a connection formula for the matrix polynomials of Hermite type. We derive matrix valued analogues of Burchnall formulas in operational form as well explicit expansions for the matrix valued Hermite type orthogonal polyno…
Given a matrix polynomial $W(x)$, matrix bi-orthogonal polynomials with respect to the sesquilinear form $\langle P(x),Q(x)\rangle_W=\int P(x) W(x)\operatorname{d}μ(x)(Q(x))^{\top}$, $P(x),Q(x)\in\mathbb R^{p\times p}[x]$, where $μ(x)$ is a matrix of Borel measures supported in some infinite subset of the real line, are considered. Connection formulas between the sequences of matrix bi-orthogonal polynomials with respect to $\langle \cdot,\cdot\rangle_W$ and matrix polynomials orthogonal with respect to $μ(x)$ are presented. In particular, for the case of nonsingular leading coefficients of th…
Transmission matrices for two types of integrable defect are calculated explicitly, first by solving directly the nonlinear transmission Yang-Baxter equations, and second by solving a linear intertwining relation between a finite dimensional representation of the relevant Borel subalgebra of the quantum group underpinning the integrable quantum field theory and a particular infinite dimensional representation expressed in terms of sets of generalized `quantum' annihilation and creation operators. The principal examples analysed are based on the $a_2^{(2)}$ and $a_n^{(1)}$ affine Toda models bu…
The non-conformal analog of abelian T-duality transformations relating pairs of axial and vector integrable models from the non abelian affine Toda family is constructed and studied in detail.
Generalizations of the q-Onsager algebra are introduced and studied. In one of the simplest case and q=1, the algebra reduces to the one proposed by Uglov-Ivanov. In the general case and $q\neq 1$, an explicit algebra homomorphism associated with coideal subalgebras of quantum affine Lie algebras (simply and non-simply laced) is exhibited. Boundary (soliton non-preserving) integrable quantum Toda field theories are then considered in light of these results. For the first time, all defining relations for the underlying non-Abelian symmetry algebra are explicitely obtained. As a consequence, bas…
Adler and van Moerbeke \cite{AVM} described a reduction of 2D-Toda hierarchy called Toeplitz lattice. This hierarchy turns out to be equivalent to the one originally described by Ablowitz and Ladik \cite{AL} using semidiscrete zero-curvature equations. In this paper we obtain the original semidiscrete zero-curvature equations starting directly from the Toeplitz lattice and we generalize these computations to the matrix case. This generalization lead us to the semidiscrete zero-curvature equations for the non-abelian (or multicomponent) version of Ablowitz-Ladik equations \cite{GI}. In this way…
Generalized Bogomolny equations are encountered in the localization of the topological N=4 SYM theory. The boundary conditions for 't Hooft and surface operators are formulated by giving a model solution with some special singularity. In this note we consider the generalized Bogomolny equations on a half space and construct model solutions for the boundary 't Hooft and surface operators. It is shown that for the 't Hooft operator the equations reduce to the open Toda chain for arbitrary simple gauge group. For the surface operators the solutions of interest are rational solutions of a periodic…
We show that a criterion for confinement, based on the BRST invariance, holds in four dimensions, by solving a non-Abelian gauge theory with a set of exact solutions. The confinement condition we consider was obtained by Kugo and Ojima some decades ago. The current understanding of gauge theories permits us to apply the techniques straightforwardly for checking the validity of this criterion. In this way, we are able to show that the non-Abelian gauge theory is confining and that confinement is rooted in the BRST invariance and asymptotic freedom.
