The first and second-order supersymmetry transformations are used to generate Hamiltonians with known spectra departing from the trigonometric Poschl-Teller potentials. The several possibilities of manipulating the initial spectrum are fully explored, and it is shown how to modify one or two levels, or even to leave the spectrum unaffected. The behavior of the new potentials at the boundaries of the domain is studied.
Starting with the Gaudin-like Bethe ansatz equations associated with the quasi-exactly solved (QES) exceptional points of the asymmetric quantum Rabi model (AQRM) a spectral equivalence is established with QES hyperbolic Schrödinger potentials on the line. This leads to particular QES Pöschl-Teller potentials. The complete spectral equivalence is then established between the AQRM and generalised Pöschl-Teller potentials. This result extends a previous mapping between the symmetric quantum Rabi model and a QES Pöschl-Teller potential. The complete spectral equivalence between the two systems su…
A hidden nonlinear bosonized supersymmetry was revealed recently in Poschl-Teller and finite-gap Lame systems. In spite of the intimate relationship between the two quantum models, the hidden supersymmetry in them displays essential differences. In particular, the kernel of the supercharges of the Poschl-Teller system, unlike the case of Lame equation, includes nonphysical states. By means of Lame equation, we clarify the nature of these peculiar states, and show that they encode essential information not only on the original hyperbolic Poschl-Teller system, but also on its singular hyperbolic…
We analyze the one dimensional scattering produced by all variations of the Pöschl-Teller potential, i.e., potential well, low and high barriers. We show that the Pöschl-Teller well and low barrier potentials have no resonance poles, but an infinite number of simple poles along the imaginary axis corresponding to bound and antibound states. A quite different situation arises on the Pöschl-Teller high barrier potential, which shows an infinite number of resonance poles and no other singularities. We have obtained the explicit form of their associated Gamow states. We have also constructed ladde…
Using mainly two techniques, a point transformation and a time dependent supersymmetry, we construct in sequence several quantum infinite potential wells with a moving barrier. We depart from the well known system of a one-dimensional particle in a box. With a point transformation, an infinite square-well potential with a moving barrier is generated. Using time dependent supersymmetry, the latter leads to a trigonometric Pöschl-Teller potential with a moving barrier. Finally, a confluent time dependent supersymmetry transformation is implemented to generate new infinite potential wells, all of…
In this comment, we show that the solutions of the-wave Dirac equation for deformed generalized Pöschl-Teller potential obtained by Wei et al are valid only for $q\geq1$ and $\frac{1}{2α}\ln{q}<r<\infty$. When $0<q<1$, we prove that the energy eigenvalues for the bound states are given by the solution of a transcendental equation involving the hypergeometric function. To test our results, the Morse potential is considered as limiting case.
We present solutions of the Dirac equation with spin symmetry for vector and scalar modified Pöschl-Teller potential within framework of an approximation of the centrifugal term. The relativistic energy spectrum is obtained using the Nikiforov-Uvarov method and the two-component spinor wavefunctions are obtain are in terms of the Jacobi polynomials. It is found that there exist only positive-energy states for bound states under spin symmetry, and the energy levels increase with the dimension and the potential range parameter $α$.
We explain the origin and the nature of a special nonlinear supersymmetry of a reflectionless Poschl-Teller system by the Aharonov-Bohm effect for a nonrelativistic particle on the AdS_2. A key role in the supersymmetric structure appearing after reduction by a compact generator of the AdS_2 isometry is shown to be played by the discrete symmetries related to the space and time reflections in the ambient Minkowski space. We also observe that a correspondence between the two quantum non-relativistic systems is somewhat of the AdS/CFT holography nature.
By employing an exponential-type approximation scheme to replace the centrifugal term, we have approximately solved the Dirac equation for spin- particle subject to the complex -symmetric scalar and vector Pöschl-Teller (PT) potentials with arbitrary spin-orbit -wave states in view of spin and pseudospin (p-spin) symmetries. The real bound-state energy eigenvalue equation and the corresponding two-spinor components wave function expressible in terms of the hypergeometric functions are obtained by means of the wave function analysis. The spin- Dirac equation and the spin- Klein-Gordon (KG) equa…
In a recent short note [Bergeron H, Gazeau J P, Siegl P and Youssef A 2010 EPL 92 60003], we have presented the nice properties of a new family of semi-classical states for Pöschl-Teller potentials. These states are built from a supersymmetric quantum mechanics approach and the parameters of these "coherent" states are points in the classical phase space. In this article we develop all the mathematical aspects that have been left apart in the previous article (proof of the resolution of unity, detailed calculations of quantized version of classical observables and mathematical study of the res…
We obtain the quantized momentum solutions, $\mathcal{P}_{n}$, of the Feinberg-Horodecki equation. We study the space-like coherent states for the space-like counterpart of the Schrödinger equation with trigonometric Pöschl-Teller potential which is constructed by temporal counterpart of the spatial Pöschl-Teller potential.
In this paper we present a scheme for constructing the coherent states of Klauder-Perelomov's type for a particle which is trapped in Pöschl-Teller potentials.
Infinite families of quasi-exactly solvable position-dependent mass Schrödinger equations with known ground and first excited states are constructed in a deformed supersymmetric background. The starting points consist in one- and two-parameter trigonometric Pöschl-Teller potentials endowed with a deformed shape invariance property and, therefore, exactly solvable. Some extensions of them are considered with the same position-dependent mass and dealt with by a generating function method. The latter enables to construct the first two superpotentials of a deformed supersymmetric hierarchy, as wel…
In this work we make use of deformed operators to construct the coherent states of some nonlinear systems by generalization of two definitions: i) As eigenstates of a deformed annihilation operator and ii) by application of a deformed displacement operator to the vacuum state. We also construct the coherent states for the same systems using the ladder operators obtained by traditional methods with the knowledge of the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues of the corresponding Schrödinger equation. We show that both methods yield coherent states with identical algebraic structure.
We obtain exact solutions to the two-dimensional (2D) Dirac equation for the one-dimensional Pöschl-Teller potential which contains an asymmetry term. The eigenfunctions are expressed in terms of Heun confluent functions, while the eigenvalues are determined via the solutions of a simple transcendental equation. For the symmetric case, the eigenfunctions of the supercritical states are expressed as spheroidal wave functions, and approximate analytical expressions are obtained for the corresponding eigenvalues. A universal condition for any square integrable symmetric potential is obtained for …
The possibility for the Jacobi equation to admit in some cases general solutions that are polynomials has been recently highlighted by Calogero and Yi, who termed them para-Jacobi polynomials. Such polynomials are used here to build seed functions of a Darboux-Bäcklund transformation for the trigonometric Darboux-Pöschl-Teller potential. As a result, one-step regular rational extensions of the latter depending both on an integer index $n$ and on a continuously varying parameter $λ$ are constructed. For each $n$ value, the eigenstates of these extended potentials are associated with a novel fam…
We comment on a recent paper by Chen, Liu, and Ge (J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 31 (1998) 6473), wherein a nonlinear deformation of su(1,1) involving two deforming functions is realized in the exactly solvable quantum-mechanical problem with P\" oschl-Teller potential, and is used to derive the well-known su(1,1) spectrum-generating algebra of this problem. We show that one of the defining relations of the nonlinear algebra, presented by the authors, is only valid in the limiting case of an infinite square well, and we determine the correct relation in the general case. We also use it to establish t…
The energy eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions of the one-dimensional Klein-Gordon equation with q-parameter Poschl-Teller potential are analytically obtained within the position-dependent mass formalism. The parametric generalization of the Nikiforov-Uvarov method is used in the calculations by choosing a mass distribution.
The trigonometric Pöschl-Teller (PT) potential describes the diatomic molecular vibration. By using the Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method, we have obtained the exact analytical s-wave solutions of the radial Schrödinger equation (SE) for the trigonometric PT potential. The energy eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions are calculated in closed forms. Some numerical results are presented too.
In this study, we solve the Klein-Gordon equation with equal scalar and vector q-deformed hyperbolic modified Pöschl-Teller potential. The explicit expressions of bound state spectra and the normalized eigenfunctions for s-wave bound states are obtained analytically. The energy equations and the corresponding wave functions for the special cases of the equally mixed q-deformed hyperbolic modified Pöschl-Teller potential for spinless particle are briefly discussed.
The problem of a fermion subject to a convenient mixing of vector and scalar potentials in a two-dimensional space-time is mapped into a Sturm-Liouville problem. For a specific case which gives rise to an exactly solvable effective modified Pöschl-Teller potential in the Sturm-Liouville problem, bound-state solutions are found. The behaviour of the upper and lower components of the Dirac spinor is discussed in detail and some unusual results are revealed. The Dirac delta potential as a limit of the modified P% öschl-Teller potential is also discussed. The problem is also shown to be mapped int…
We obtain the exact solution to the Dirac equation with the Poschl-Teller double ring-shaped Coulomb (PTDRSC) potential for any spin-orbit quantum number K. The relativistic scattering amplitude for spin 1/2 particles in the field of this potential has been studied. The wave functions are expressed in terms of the hyper-geometric series of the continuous states on the K/2Pi scale. A formula for the phase shifts has also been found. In the nonrelativistic limits, our solution to the Dirac system converges to that of the Schrödinger one. At the high temperature, the partition function is calcula…
We present a new family of shape invariant potentials which could be called a ``continuous \ell version" of the potentials corresponding to the exceptional (X_{\ell}) J1 Jacobi polynomials constructed recently by the present authors. In a certain limit, it reduces to a continuous \ell family of shape invariant potentials related to the exceptional (X_{\ell}) L1 Laguerre polynomials. The latter was known as one example of the `conditionally exactly solvable potentials' on a half line.
In this work, the quantum-mechanical properties of the strongly non-linear quantum oscillator described by the Poschl-Teller PT model is examined. This model has a relation with two well-known models, the free particle FP in a box and the harmonic oscillator HO, as described in our previous works. Using the PT model, a quantum-mechanical analog of the Joule-Brayton JB cycle and Otto cycle have been constructed through changes of both, the width of the well and its the quantum state. The efficiency of quantum engines based on the Poschl-Teller-like potential is derived, which is analogous to cl…
We introduce a generalization structure of the su(1,1) algebra which depends on a function of one generator of the algebra, f(H). Following the same ideas developed to the generalized Heisenberg algebra (GHA) and to the generalized su(2), we show that a symmetry is present in the sequence of eigenvalues of one generator of the algebra. Then, we construct the Barut-Girardello coherent states associated with the generalized su(1,1) algebra for a particle in a Pöschl-Teller potential. Furthermore, we compare the time evolution of the uncertainty relation of the constructed coherent states with th…
We use the "tridiagonal representation approach" to solve the time-independent Schrödinger equation for the bound states of generalized versions of the trigonometric and hyperbolic Pöschl-Teller potentials. These new solvable potentials do not belong to the conventional class of exactly solvable problems. The solutions are finite series of square integrable functions written in terms of the Jacobi polynomial.
New supersymmetric partners of the modified Poschl-Teller and the Dirac's delta well potentials are constructed in closed form. The resulting one-parametric potentials are shown to be interrelated by a limiting process. The range of values of the parameters for which these potentials are free of singularities is exactly determined. The construction of higher order supersymmetric partner potentials is also investigated.
In this paper, we solve the D-dimensional Schrödinger equation with hyperbolic Poschl-Teller potential plus a generalized ring-shaped potential. After the separation of variable in the hyperspherical coordinate. We used Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method to solve the resulting radial equation and obtain explicitly the energy level and the corresponding wave function in closed form. The solutions to the angular part are solved using the NU approach as well.
The solutions of trigonometric Scarf potential, PT/non-PT-symmetric and non-Hermitian q-deformed hyperbolic Scarf and Manning-Rosen potentials are obtained by solving the Schrodinger equation. The Nikiforov-Uvarov method is used to obtain the real energy spectra and corresponding eigenfunctions.
The trigonometric Pöschl-Teller (PT) potential describes the diatomic molecular vibration. We have obtained the approximate solutions of the radial Schrödinger equation (SE) for the rotating trigonometric PT potential using the Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method. The energy eigenvalues and their corresponding eigenfunctions are calculated for arbitrary -states in closed form. In the low screening region, when the screening parameter the potential reduces to Kratzer potential. Further, some numerical results are presented for several diatomic molecules.
The position and momentum space information entropies, of the ground state of the Pöschl-Teller potential, are exactly evaluated and are found to satisfy the bound, obtained by Beckner, Bialynicki-Birula and Mycielski. These entropies for the first excited state, for different strengths of the potential well, are then numerically obtained. Interesting features of the entropy densities, owing their origin to the excited nature of the wave functions, are graphically demonstrated. We then compute the position space entropies of the coherent state of the Pöschl-Teller potential, which is known to …
In this work an example of a cyclic engine based on a quantum-mechanical properties of the strongly non linear quantum oscillator described by the Poschl-Teller [PT] model is examined. Using the [PT] model as shown in our earlier works [1-4], a quantum-mechanical analog of Carnot cycle (i.e quantum heat engine) has been constructed through the changes of both, the width L of the well and its quantum state. This quantum heat engine has a cycle consisting of adiabatic and isothermal quantum processes. The efficiency of the quantum engine based on the Poschl-Teller-like potential is derived and i…
In this study, we obtained the position-momentum uncertainties and some uncertainty relations for the Pöschl-Teller-type potential for any $\ell$. The radial expectation values of $r^{-2}$, $r^{2}$ and $p^{2}$ are obtained from which the Heisenberg Uncertainty principle holds for the potential model under consideration. The Fisher information is then obtained and it is observed that the Fisher-information-based uncertainty relation and the Cramer-Rao inequality hold for this even power potential. Some numerical and graphical results are displayed.
The properties of the modified Pöschl-Teller (MPT) potential are outlined. The ladder operators are constructed directly from the wave functions without introducing any auxiliary variable. It is shown that these operators are associated to the $su(2)$ algebra. Analytical expressions for the functions $\sinh(αx)$ and $\frac{\cosh(αx)}α \frac{d}{dx}$ are evaluated from these ladder operators. The expansions of the coordinate $x$ and momentum $\hat p$ in terms of the $su(2)$ generators are presented. This analysis allows to establish an exact quantum-mechanical connection between the $su(2)$ vibr…
Two physically important potentials (Manning-Rosen and Pöschl-Teller) are considered for the ro-vibrational energy in diatomic molecules. An improved new approximation is invoked for the centrifugal term, which is then used for their solution within the Nikiforov-Uvarov framework. This employs a recently proposed scheme, which combines the two widely used Greene-Aldrich and Pekeris-type approximations. Thus, approximate analytical expressions are derived for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions. The energies are examined with respect to two approximation parameters, $λ$ and $ν$. The original approxi…
A nonreflecting wavepacket is constructed by the superposition of reflectionless eigenstates of sech2 potential. Free propagation and propagation in the presence of the above potential of such a wavepacket is considered using the concept of arrival time. Comparison is made with the free evolving Gaussian wavepacket. Mean arrival time at a detector behind the well is given as a function of mass for separate cases. A selection of Bohmian trajectories in the interacting case are computed and compared to the trajectories of a free particle guided by a Gaussian packet.
We apply the asymptotic iteration method (AIM) to obtain the solutions of Schrodinger equation in the presence of Poschl-Teller (PT) potential. We also obtain the solutions of Dirac equation for the same potential under the condition of spin and pseudospin (p-spin) symmetries. We show that in the nonrelativistic limits, the solution of Dirac system converges to that of Schrodinger system. Rotational-Vibrational energy eigenvalues of some diatomic molecules are calculated. Some special cases of interest are studied such as s-wave case, reflectionless-type potential and symmetric hyperbolic PT p…
The Dirac equation is solved to obtain its approximate bound states for a spin-1/2 particle in the presence of trigonometric Poschl-Teller (tPT) potential including a Coulomb-like tensor interaction with arbitrary spin-orbit quantum number $κ$ using an approximation scheme to substitute the centrifugal terms k(k+1)/r^2. In view of spin and pseudo-spin (p-spin) symmetries, the relativistic energy eigenvalues and the corresponding two-component wave functions of a particle moving in the field of attractive and repulsive tPT potentials are obtained using the asymptotic iteration method (AIM). We …
We obtain three new solvable, real, shape invariant potentials starting from the harmonic oscillator, Pöschl-Teller I and Pöschl-Teller II potentials on the half-axis and extending their domain to the full line, while taking special care to regularize the inverse square singularity at the origin. The regularization procedure gives rise to a delta-function behavior at the origin. Our new systems possess underlying non-linear potential algebras, which can also be used to determine their spectra analytically.
Analytical solutions of the Schrodinger equation for the generalized trigonometric Poschl Teller potential by using an appropriate approximation to the centrifugal term within the framework of the Functional Analysis Approach have been considered. Using the energy equation obtained, the vibrational partition function was calculated and other relevant thermodynamic properties. More so, we use the concept of the superstatistics to also evaluate the thermodynamics properties of the system. It is noted that the well-known normal statistics results are recovered in the absence of the deformation pa…
In this article, the quantum Hamilton- Jacobi theory based on the position dependent mass model is studied. Two effective mass functions having different singularity structures are used to examine the Morse and Poschl- Teller potentials. The residue method is used to obtain the solutions of the quantum effective mass- Hamilton Jacobi equation. Further, it is shown that the eigenstates of the generalized non-Hermitian Swanson Hamiltonian for Morse and Poschl-Teller potentials can be obtained by using the Riccati equation without solving a differential equation.
We show that supersymmetry is a simple but powerful tool to exactly solve quantum mechanics problems. Here, the supersymmetric approach is used to analyse a quantum system with periodic Pöschl-Teller potential, and to find out the exact energy spectra and the corresponding band structure.
The supersymmetric solutions of PT-/non-PT-symmetric and non-Hermitian deformed Morse and Pöschl-Teller potentials are obtained by solving the Schrödinger equation. The Hamiltonian hierarchy method is used to get the real energy eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions. \newline {PACS:05.20.-y; 05.30.-d; 05.70. The multi-indexed Jacobi polynomials are the main part of the eigenfunctions of exactly solvable quantum mechanical systems obtained by certain deformations of the Pöschl-Teller potential (Odake-Sasaki). By fine-tuning the parameter(s) of the Pöschl-Teller potential, we obtain several families of explicit and global solutions of certain second order Fuchsian differential equations with an apparent singularity of characteristic exponent -2 and -1. They form orthogonal polynomials over $x\in(-1,1)$ with weight functions of the form $(1-x)^α(1+x)^β/\{(ax+b)^4q(x)^2\}$, in which $q(x)$ is a polyno…
A recently developed algebraic approach for constructing coherent states for solvable potentials is used to obtain the displacement operator coherent state of the Pöschl-Teller potential. We establish the connection between this and the annihilation operator coherent state and compare their properties. We study the details of the revival structure arising from different time scales underlying the quadratic energy spectrum of this system.
The supersymmetric intertwining relations with second order supercharges allow to investigate new two-dimensional model which is not amenable to standard separation of variables. The corresponding potential being the two-dimensional generalization of well known one-dimensional Pöschl-Teller model is proven to be exactly solvable for arbitrary integer value of parameter $p:$ all its bound state energy eigenvalues are found analytically, and the algorithm for analytical calculation of all wave functions is given. The shape invariance of the model and its integrability are of essential importance…
We construct rational extensions of the Darboux-Pöschl-Teller and isotonic potentials via two-step confluent Darboux transformations. The former are strictly isospectral to the initial potential, whereas the latter are only quasi-isospectral. Both are associated to new families of orthogonal polynomials, which, in the first case, depend on a continuous parameter. We also prove that these extended potentials possess an enlarged shape invariance property.
Supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSY QM) is a powerful tool for generating new potentials with known spectra departing from an initial solvable one. In these lecture notes we will present some general formulas concerning SUSY QM of first and second order for one-dimensional arbitrary systems, and we will illustrate the method through the trigonometric Poschl-Teller potentials. Some intrinsically related subjects, as the algebraic structure inherited by the new Hamiltonians and the corresponding coherent states will be analyzed. The technique will be as well implemented for periodic potential…
Following a letter by Bassett, we show first that it is possible to find an analytical approximation to the error function in terms of a finite series of hyperbolic tangents from the supersymmetric (SUSY) solution of the Poschl-Teller eigenvalue problem in quantum mechanics (QM). Afterwards, we show that the second order differential equation for the derivatives of Dawson's function can be found in another SUSY related eigenvalue problem, where the factorization of the simple harmonic oscillator Hamiltonian renders the wrong-sign Hermite differential equation, and that Dawson's second order di…
Simple derivation is presented of the four families of infinitely many shape invariant Hamiltonians corresponding to the exceptional Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials. Darboux-Crum transformations are applied to connect the well-known shape invariant Hamiltonians of the radial oscillator and the Darboux-Pöschl-Teller potential to the shape invariant potentials of Odake-Sasaki. Dutta and Roy derived the two lowest members of the exceptional Laguerre polynomials by this method. The method is expanded to its full generality and many other ramifications, including the aspects of generalised Bochner …
It has been observed that a quantum theory need not to be Hermitian to have a real spectrum. We study the non-Hermitian relativistic quantum theories for many complex potentials, and we obtain the real relativistic energy eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions of a Dirac charged particle in complex static and spherically symmetric potentials. Complex Dirac-Eckart, complex Dirac-Rosen-Morse II, complex Dirac-Scarf and complex Dirac-Poschl-Teller potential are investigated.
