Let G be an algebraic group over an algebraically closed field, acting on a variety X with finitely many orbits. "Staggered sheaves" are certain complexes of G-equivariant coherent sheaves on X that seem to possess many remarkable properties. In this paper, we construct "standard" and "costandard" objects in the category of staggered sheaves, and we prove that that category has enough projectives and injectives.
This note is an expository account of the theory of staggered sheaves, based on a series of lectures given by the author at RIMS (Kyoto) in October 2008.
Two major results in the theory of l-adic mixed constructible sheaves are the purity theorem (every simple perverse sheaf is pure) and the decomposition theorem (every pure object in the derived category is a direct sum of shifts of simple perverse sheaves). In this paper, we prove analogues of these results for coherent sheaves. Specificially, we work with staggered sheaves, which form the heart of a certain t-structure on the derived category of equivariant coherent sheaves. We prove, under some reasonable hypotheses, that every simple staggered sheaf is pure, and that every pure complex of …
Let $X$ be any rational surface. We construct a tilting bundle $T$ on $X$. Moreover, we can choose $T$ in such way that its endomorphism algebra is quasi-hereditary. In particular, the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on $X$ is equivalent to the bounded derived category of finitely generated modules over a finite dimensional quasi-hereditary algebra $A$. The construction starts with a full exceptional sequence of line bundles on $X$ and uses universal extensions. If $X$ is any smooth projective variety with a full exceptional sequence of coherent sheaves (or vector bundles, or even…
Let X be a scheme, and let G be an affine group scheme acting on X. Under reasonable hypotheses on X and G, we construct a t-structure on the derived category of G-equivariant coherent sheaves that in many ways resembles the perverse coherent t-structure, but which incorporates additional information from the G-action. Under certain circumstances, this t-structure, called the "staggered t-structure," has an artinian heart, and its simple objects are particularly easy to describe. We also exhibit two small examples in which the staggered t-structure is better-behaved than the perverse coherent …
Staggered $t$-structures are a class of $t$-structures on derived categories of equivariant coherent sheaves. In this note, we show that the derived category of coherent sheaves on a partial flag variety, equivariant for a Borel subgroup, admits an artinian staggered $t$-structure. As a consequence, we obtain a basis for its equivariant $K$-theory consisting of simple staggered sheaves.
In this article we construct a categorical resolution of singularities of an excellent reduced curve $X$, introducing a certain sheaf of orders on $X$. This categorical resolution is shown to be a recollement of the derived category of coherent sheaves on the normalization of $X$ and the derived category of finite length modules over a certain artinian quasi-hereditary ring $Q$ depending purely on the local singularity types of $X$. Using this technique, we prove several statements on the Rouquier dimension of the derived category of coherent sheaves on $X$. Moreover, in the case $X$ is ration…
In characteristic zero, Bezrukavnikov has shown that the category of perverse coherent sheaves on the nilpotent cone of a simply connected semisimple algebraic group is quasi-hereditary, and that it is derived-equivalent to the category of (ordinary) coherent sheaves. We prove that graded versions of these results also hold in good positive characteristic.
In this paper, we study the category $\mathscr{H}^{(ρ)}$ of semi-stable coherent sheaves of a fixed slope $ρ$ over a weighted projective curve. This category has nice properties: it is a hereditary abelian finitary length category. We will define the Ringel-Hall algebra of $\mathscr{H}^{(ρ)}$ and relate it to generalized Kac-Moody Lie algebras. Finally we obtain the Kac type theorem to describe the indecomposable objects in this category, i.e. the indecomposable semi-stable sheaves.
Let $\mathbb{X}$ be a weighted noncommutative regular projective curve over a field $k$. The category $\operatorname{Qcoh}\mathbb{X}$ of quasicoherent sheaves is a hereditary, locally noetherian Grothendieck category. We classify all tilting sheaves which have a non-coherent torsion subsheaf. In case of nonnegative orbifold Euler characteristic we classify all large (that is, non-coherent) tilting sheaves and the corresponding resolving classes. In particular we show that in the elliptic and in the tubular cases every large tilting sheaf has a well-defined slope.
We consider the category $\operatorname{Qcoh}\mathbb{X}$ of quasicoherent sheaves where $\mathbb{X}$ is a weighted noncommutative regular projective curve over a field $k$. This category is a hereditary, locally noetherian Grothendieck category. We classify all indecomposable pure-injective sheaves and all cotilting sheaves of slope $\infty$. In the cases of nonnegative orbifold Euler characteristic this leads to a classification of pure-injective indecomposable sheaves and a description of all large cotilting sheaves in $\operatorname{Qcoh}\mathbb{X}$.
We use recollement and HRS-tilt to describe bounded t-structures on the bounded derived category $\mathcal{D}^b(\mathbb{X})$ of coherent sheaves over a weighted projective line $\mathbb{X}$ of virtual genus $\leq 1$. We will see from our description that the combinatorics in classification of bounded t-structures on $\mathcal{D}^b(\mathbb{X})$ can be reduced to that in classification of bounded t-structures on bounded derived categories of finite dimensional right modules over representation-finite finite dimensional hereditary algebras.
We introduce the notion of a "baric structure" on a triangulated category, as an abstraction of S. Morel's weight truncation formalism for mixed l-adic sheaves. We study these structures on the derived category D_G(X) of G-equivariant coherent sheaves on a G-scheme X. Our main result shows how to endow this derived category with a family of nontrivial baric structures when G acts on X with finitely many orbits. We also describe a general construction for producing a new t-structure on a triangulated category equipped with given t- and baric structures, and we prove that the staggered t-structu…
For the cluster category of a hereditary or a canonical algebra, equivalently for the cluster category of the hereditary category of coherent sheaves on a weighted projective line, we study the Grothendieck group with respect to an admissible triangulated structure.
Let $\mathcal{H}$ be a connected hereditary abelian category with tilting objects. It is proved that the cluster-tilting graph associated with $\mathcal{H}$ is always connected. As a consequence, we establish the connectedness of the tilting graph for the category $\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X}$ of coherent sheaves over a weighted projective line $\mathbb{X}$ of wild type. The connectedness of tilting graphs for such categories was conjectured by Happel-Unger, which has immediately applications in cluster algebras. For instance, we deduce that there is a bijection between the set of indecomposa…
We give a new and intrinsic proof of the transitivity of the braid group action on the set of full exceptional sequences of coherent sheaves on a weighted projective line. We do not use here the corresponding result of Crawley-Boevey for modules over hereditary algebras. As an application we prove that the strongest global dimension of the category of coherent sheaves on a weighted projective line $\XX$ does not depend on the parameters of $\XX$. Finally we prove that the determinant of the matrix obtained by taking the values of $n$ $\ZZ$-linear functions defined on the Grothendieck group $K_…
Let $\A$ be a finitary hereditary abelian category and $D(\A)$ be its reduced Drinfeld double Hall algebra. By giving explicit formulas in $D(\A)$ for left and right mutations, we show that the subalgebras of $D(\A)$ generated by exceptional sequences are invariant under mutation equivalences. As an application, we obtain that if $\A$ is the category of finite dimensional modules over a finite dimensional hereditary algebra, or the category of coherent sheaves on a weighted projective line, the double composition algebra of $\A$ is generated by any complete exceptional sequence. Moreover, for …
The present paper focuses on the study of t-stabilities on a triangulated category in the sense of Gorodentsev, Kuleshov and Rudakov. We give an equivalent description for the finest t-stability on a piecewise hereditary triangulated category and, describe the semistable subcategories and final HN triangles for (exceptional) coherent sheaves in $D^b(\rm{coh}\mathbb{X})$, which is the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on the weighted projective line $\mathbb{X}$ of weight type (2). Furthermore, we show the existence of a t-exceptional triple for $D^b(\rm{coh}\mathbb{X})$. As an appli…
We study the cluster category of a canonical algebra A in terms of the hereditary category of coherent sheaves over the corresponding weighted projective line X. As an application we determine the automorphism group of the cluster category and show that the cluster-tilting objects form a cluster structure in the sense of Buan-Iyama-Reiten-Scott. The tilting graph of the sheaf category always coincides with the tilting or exchange graph of the cluster category. We show that this graph is connected if the Euler characteristic of X is non-negative, or equivalently, if A is of tame (domestic or tu…
