We first investigate the geometry of orbits of the isotropy action on a semi-simple pseudo-Riemannian symmetric space by investigating the complexified action. Next we investigate the geometry of the orbits of Hermann type actions on the symmetric spaces. By considering two special Hermann type actions on the symmetric space, we recognize an interesting structure of the symmetric space.

We investigate the submanifold geometry of the orbits of Hermann actions on Riemannian symmetric spaces. After proving that the curvature and shape operators of these orbits commute, we calculate the eigenvalues of the shape operators in terms of the restricted roots. As applications, we get a formula for the volumes of the orbits and a new proof of a Weyl-type integration formula for Hermann actions.

A conformally flat generalized Ricci recurrent pseudo-Riemannian manifold is shown to be either a de Sitter space or an anti-de Sitter space. In particular, a conformally flat generalized Ricci recurrent spacetime must be either a de Sitter spacetime or an anti-de Sitter spacetime.

In this article, we study complete pseudo-Riemannian manifolds whose cone admits a parallel symmetric 2-tensorfield. In the nilpotent case, we are able to describe completely only a dense open subset of the manifold. To conclude, we give examples with non-constant curvature in the nilpotent case.

We show that any standard compact Clifford-Klein form of a simple non-compact Lie group admits at least one Einstein metric.
