A Rule-Based Logic for Quantum Information

In the present article, we explore a new approach for the study of orthomodular lattices, where we replace the problematic conjunction by a binary operator, called the Sasaki projection. We present a characterization of orthomodular lattices based on the use of an algebraic version of the Sasaki projection operator (together with orthocomplementation) rather than on the conjunction. We then define of a new logic, which we call Sasaki Orthologic, which is closely related to quantum logic, and provide a rule-based definition of this logic.

Is Quantum Logic a Logic?

Standard Logics Are Valuation-Nonmonotonic

It has recently been discovered that both quantum and classical propositional logics can be modelled by classes of non-orthomodular and thus non-distributive lattices that properly contain standard orthomodular and Boolean classes, respectively. Quantum logics close to Boolean algebras

We consider orthomodular posets endowed with a symmetric difference. We call them ODPs. Expressed in the quantum logic language, we consider quantum logics with an XOR-type connective. We study three classes of "almost Boolean" ODPs, two of them defined by requiring rather specific behaviour of infima and the third by a Boolean-like behaviour of Frink ideals. We propose a semantic representation of the standard quantum logic QL within a classical, normal modal logic, and this via a lattice-embedding of orthomodular lattices into Boolean algebras with one modal operator. The logic of causally closed spacetime subsets

The causal structure of space-time offers a natural notion of an opposite or orthogonal in the logical sense, where the opposite of a set is formed by all points non time-like related with it. We show that for a general space-time the algebra of subsets that arises from this negation operation is a complete orthomodular lattice, and thus has several of the properties characterizing the algebra physical propositions in quantum mechanics. Algebraic aspects of quantum indiscernibility

Quasi-set theory was proposed as a mathematical context to investigate collections of indistinguishable objects. After presenting an outline of this theory, we define an algebra that has most of the standard properties of an orthocomplete orthomodular lattice, which is the lattice of the closed subspaces of a Hilbert space.
