Using a straightforward extension of the analysis of Lieb and Wu, we derive a simple analytic form for the ground state energy of a one-dimensional Hubbard ring in the atomic limit. This result is valid for an \textit{arbitrary} number of lattice sites $L$ and electrons $N \leq L$. Furthermore, our analysis, including an application of the theory of stochastic matrices, provides insight into the degeneracy and spin properties of the ground states in the atomic limit. We give numerical results which illustrate how the atomic limit is approached.
We prove three theorems about the use of a counting operator to study the spectrum of model Hamiltonians. We analytically calculate the eigenvalues of the Hubbard ring with four lattice positions and apply our theorems to describe the observed level crossings.
We show that soft core bosons in two dimensions with a ring exchange term exhibit a tendency for phase separation. This observation suggests that the thermodynamic stability of normal bose liquid phases driven by ring exchange should be carefully examined.
Padé approximants to the many-body Green's function can be built by rearranging terms of its perturbative expansion. The hypothesis that the best use of a finite number of terms of such an expansion is given by the subclass of diagonal Padé approximants is here tested, and largely confirmed, on a solvable model system, namely the Hubbard ring for a variety of site numbers, fillings and interaction strengths.
We have studied a Hubbard ring with alternating site potentials for half filling in presence of a magnetic flux. Using a mean field approach we have calculated the conductivity of such a ring at low and high temperatures. The interplay of correlation, the polarizing field and the chemical modulation in the site potentials tune the conductivity in an interesting fashion. In presence of the modulation in the site energy an appreciable variation in the conductance is observed with the change in flux. Finite size effects are also identified and they are found to be quickly disappearing with increa…
In this paper, we present a study of the electric transport properties of small discrete rings with $3\leq N\leq 6$ sites and $N_{e}<2N$ electrons, which can be seen as a simplified version of real aromatic molecules. In particular, the ring with six sites and six electrons is our prototype of the benzene molecule. It is already known that the Hubbard model itself cannot account for the anisotropy of the diamagnetic susceptibility of the aromatic molecules, which is observed when they are subjected to an external magnetic field perpendicular to their basal plane. Therefore, we propose an exten…
We have used exact numerical diagonalization to study the excitation spectrum and the dynamic spin correlations in the $s=1/2$ next-next-nearest neighbor Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the square lattice, with additional 4-spin ring exchange from higher order terms in the Hubbard expansion. We have varied the ratio between Hubbard model parameters, $t/U$, to obtain different relative strengths of the exchange parameters, while keeping electrons localized. The Hubbard model parameters have been parametrized via an effective ring exchange coupling, $J_r$, which have been varied between 0$J$ and 1…
We consider strongly-correlated systems described by the multi-orbital Hubbard model in the atomic limit and obtain exact expressions for the chemical potential and thermopower. We show that these expressions reduce to the Heikes formula in the appropriate limits ($k_BT \gg U$) and ($k_BT \ll U$) and obtain the full temperature dependence in between these regimes. We also investigate the effect of a magnetic field introduced through a Zeeman term and observe that the thermopower of the multi-orbital Hubbard model displays spikes as a function of magnetic field at certain special values of the …
We study the two-orbital Hubbard model in the limit of vanishing kinetic energy. The phase diagram in the $V-J$ plane, with $V$ and $J$ denoting the interorbital hybridization and exchange coupling respectively, at half filling is obtained. A singlet(dimer)-triplet transition is found for a critical value of the ratio $V/J.$ The entropy of formation, both in the mode and in the particle picture, presents a jump as the same critical line in conformity with the suggested relation between criticality and entanglement.
We have implemented the dynamical vertex approximation (D$Γ$A) in its full parquet-based version to include spatial correlations on all length scales and in {\sl all} scattering channels. The algorithm is applied to study the electronic self-energies and the spectral properties of finite-size one-dimensional Hubbard models with periodic boundary conditions (nanoscopic Hubbard rings). From a methodological point of view, our calculations and their comparison to the results obtained within dynamical mean-field theory, plain parquet approximation, and the exact numerical solution, allow us to eva…
Ring-exchange interactions have been proposed as a possible mechanism for a Bose-liquid phase at zero temperature, a phase that is compressible with no superfluidity. Using the Stochastic Green Function algorithm (SGF), we study the effect of these interactions for bosons on a two-dimensional triangular lattice. We show that the supersolid phase, that is known to exist in the ground state for a wide range of densities, is rapidly destroyed as the ring-exchange interactions are turned on. We establish the ground-state phase diagram of the system, which is characterized by the absence of the exp…
We study the geometrical frustration of extended Hubbard model on diamond chain, where vertical lines correspond to the hopping and repulsive Coulomb interaction terms between sites, while the rest of them represent only the Coulomb repulsion one. The phase diagrams at zero temperature show quite curious phases: five types of frustrated states and four types of non-frustrated ones, ordered antiferromagnetically. Although decoration transformation was derived to spin coupling systems, this approach can be applied to electron coupling ones. Thus the extended Hubbard model can be mapped onto anot…
We apply the recently proposed susy Hubbard operators to an atomic model. In the limiting case of free spins, we derive exact results for the entropy which are compared with a mean field + gaussian corrections description. We show how these results can be extended to the case of charge fluctuations and calculate exact results for the partition function, free energy and heat capacity of an atomic model for some simple examples. Wavefunctions of possible states are listed. We compare the accuracy of large N expansions of the susy spin operators with those obtained using `Schwinger bosons' and `A…
We propose an extended Hubbard model on a 2D Kagome lattice with an additional ring-exchange term. The particles can be either bosons or spinless fermions . At a special filling fraction of 1/6 the model is analyzed in the lowest non-vanishing order of perturbation theory. Such ``undoped'' model is closely related to the Quantum Dimer Model. We show how to arrive at an exactly soluble point whose ground state manifold is the extensively degenerate ``d-isotopy space'', a necessary precondition for for a certain type of non-Abelian topological order. Near the ``special'' values, $d = 2 \cos π/(k…
We have done a study with small, imperfect Hubbard rings with exact diagonalization. The results for few-electron rings show, that the imperfection, whether localized or not, nearly always decrease, but can also \emph{increase} the persistent current, depending on the character of the imperfection and the on-site interaction. The calculations are generally in agreement with more specialized studies. In most cases the electron spin plays an important role.
We refer to our recent calculations (Eur. Phys. J. B, \textbf{86}, 252 (2013)) of metallization pressure of the three-dimensional simple-cubic crystal of atomic hydrogen and study the effect on the crucial results concocting from approximating the $1s$ Slater-type orbital function with a series of $p$ Gaussians. As a result, we find the critical metallization pressure $p_C = 102\ GPa$. The latter part is a discussion of the influence of zero-point motion on the stabilizing pressure. We show that in our model the estimate magnitude of zero-point motion carries a little effect on the critical me…
We show exactly that small Hubbard rings exhibit unusual kink-like structures giving anomalous oscillations in persistent current. Singular behavior of persistent current disappears in some cases. In half-filled systems mobility gradually drops to zero with interaction, while it converges to some finite value in non-half-filled cases.
Using the quantum Monte Carlo method, we investigate the spin dynamics of itinerant electrons in the one-dimensional Hubbard system. Based on the model calculation, we have studied the spin-fluctuations in the quarter-filled metallic Hubbard ring, which is aimed at the vanadium ring or chain defined along corner-sharing tetrahedra of LiV$_2$O$_4$, and found the dramatic changes of magnetic responses and spin-fluctuation characteristics with the temperature. Such results can explain the central findings in the recent neutron scattering experiment for LiV$_2$O$_4$.
We investigate the optical conductivity of a Hubbard ring in presence of an impurity by means of exact diagonalization using the Lanczos algorithm. We concentrate thereby on the first excited, open shell state, i.e. on twisted boundary conditions. In the metallic phase a substantial part of the spectral weight lies in the Drude peak, $σ(ω) = Dδ(ω)+ σ_{\rm reg}$. In the non-interacting system, the Drude peak can be visualized in our calculations at $ω= 0$ even for finite chain lengths. Adding the impurity, the main peak is shifted to finite frequencies proportional to the impurity strength. The…
We investigate currents in a quantum ring threaded by a magnetic flux which can be varied in an arbitrary way from an initial value $ϕ_i$ at time $t_i$ to a final value $ϕ_f$ at time $t_f$. Dynamics of electrons in the ring is described by the Hubbard and the extended Hubbard models. We demonstrate that time dependence of the induced current bears information on electron correlations. In the case of the Hubbard model with infinite on--site repulsion we prove that the current for $t>t_f$ is independent of the flux variation before $t_f$. Additionally, this current is fully determined by a solut…
The theory of correlated electron systems is formulated in a form which allows to use as a reference point an ab initio band structure theory (AIBST). The theory is constructed in two steps. As a first step the total Hamiltonian is transformed into a correlated form. In order to elucidate the microscopical origin of the parameters of the periodical Hubbard-Anderson model (PHAM) the terms of the full Hamiltonian which have the operator structure of PHAM are separated. It is found that the matrix element of mixing interaction includes ion-configuration and number-of-particles dependent contribut…
We investigate the ground state properties of the two dimensional half-filled one band Hubbard model in the strong (large-U) to intermediate coupling limit ({\it i.e.} away from the strict Heisenberg limit) using an effective spin-only low-energy theory that includes nearest-neighbor exchange, ring exchange, and all other spin interactions to order t(t/U)^3. We show that the operator for the staggered magnetization, transformed for use in the effective theory, differs from that for the order parameter of the spin model by a renormalization factor accounting for the increased charge fluctuation…
We study the effect of varying the boundary condition on the spectral function of a finite 1D Hubbard chain, which we compute using direct (Lanczos) diagonalization of the Hamiltonian. By direct comparison with the two-body response functions and with the exact solution of the Bethe Ansatz equations, we can identify both spinon and holon features in the spectra. At half-filling the spectra have the well-known structure of a low energy holon band and its shadow---which span the whole Brillouin zone---and a spinon band present for momenta less than the Fermi momentum. New features related to the…
We extend our previous approach (Eur. Phys. J. B, \textbf{74}, 63(2010)) to modeling correlated electronic states and the metal-insulator transition by applying the so-called \emph{statistically consistent Gutzwiller approximation} (SGA) to carry out self-consistent calculations of the renormalized single-particle Wannier functions in the correlated state. The transition to the Mott-Hubbard insulating state at temperature T=0 is of weak first order even if antiferromagnetism is disregarded. The magnitude of the introduced self-consistent magnetic correlation field is calculated and shown to le…
We test the response to a threading magnetic field of rings of 5-site $C_{4v}$-symmetric repulsive Hubbard clusters connected by weak intercell links; each 5-site unit has the topology of a CuO$_{4}$ cluster and a repulsive interaction is included on every site. In a numerical study of the three-unit ring with 8 particles, we take advantage of a novel exact-diagonalization technique which can be generally applied to many-fermion problems. For O-O hopping we find Superconducting Flux Quantization (SFQ), but for purely Cu-Cu links bound pair propagation is hindered by symmetry. The results agree…
The density-matrix renormalization group method is used to study the ground state of the two-chain zigzag-bond Hubbard model at quarter filling. We show that, with a proper choice of the signs of hopping integrals, the ring exchange mechanism yields ferromagnetic spin correlations between interchain neighboring sites, and produces the attractive interaction between electrons as well as the long-range pair correlations in the spin-triplet channel, thereby leading the system to triplet superconductivity. We argue that this novel mechanism may have possible relevance to observed superconductivity…
We present a full analytical solution of the multiconfigurational strongly-correlated mixed-valence problem corresponding to the $N$-Hubbard ring filled with $N-1$ electrons, and infinite on-site repulsion. While the eigenvalues and the eigenstates of the model are known already, analytical determination of their degeneracy is presented here for the first time. The full solution, including degeneracy count, is achieved for each spin configuration by mapping the Hubbard model into a set of Huckel-annulene problems for rings of variable size. The number and size of these effective Huckel annulen…
One of the challenges in many-body physics is determining the effects of phonons on strongly correlated electrons. The difficulty arises from strong correlations at differing energy scales -- for band metals, Migdal-Eliashberg theory accurately determines electron-phonon coupling effects due to the absence of vertex corrections -- but strongly correlated electrons require a more complex description and the standard Migdal-Eliashberg approach does not necessarily apply. In this work, we solve for the atomic limit Green's function of the Holstein-Hubbard model with both time-dependent electron-e…
We have studied the extended Hubbard model in the atomic limit. The Hamiltonian analyzed consists of the effective on-site interaction U and the intersite density-density interactions Wij (both: nearest-neighbour and next-nearest-neighbour). The model can be considered as a simple effective model of charge ordered insulators. The phase diagrams and thermodynamic properties of this system have been determined within the variational approach, which treats the on-site interaction term exactly and the intersite interactions within the mean-field approximation. Our investigation of the general case…
We study the current, the curvature of levels, and the finite temperature charge stiffness, D(T,L), in the strongly correlated limit, U>>t, for Hubbard rings of L sites, with U the on-site Coulomb repulsion and t the hopping integral. Our study is done for finite-size systems and any band filling. Up to order t we derive our results following two independent approaches, namely, using the solution provided by the Bethe ansatz and the solution provided by an algebraic method, where the electronic operators are represented in a slave-fermion picture. We find that, in the U=\infty case, the finite…
We investigate the one-dimensional Hubbard ring with attractive interaction in the presence of imbalanced spin populations by using the exact diagonalization method. The singlet pairing correlation function is found to show spatial oscillations with power-law decay as expected in the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov state of a Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid. In the strong coupling regime, the system shows an anomalous flux quantization of period h=4e, half of the superconducting flux quantum of h=2e, as recently predicted by mean-field analysis, together with various flux quanta smaller than h=4e. …
In purely repulsive, $C_{4v}$-symmetric Hubbard clusters a correlation effect produces an effective two-body attraction and pairing; the key ingredient is the availability of W=0 pairs, that is, two-body solutions of appropriate symmetry. We study the tunneling of bound pairs in rings of 5-site units connected by weak intercell links; each unit has the topology of a CuO$_{4}$ cluster and a repulsive interaction is included on every site. Further, we test the superconducting nature of the response of this model to a threading magnetic field. We present a detailed numerical study of the two-unit…
We study the phase diagram at finite temperature of a system of Fermi particles on the sites of the Bethe lattice with coordination number z and interacting through onsite U and nearest-neighbor V interactions. This is a physical realization of the extended Hubbard model in the atomic limit. By using the equations of motion method, we exactly solve the model. For an attractive intersite potential, we find, at half filling, a phase transition towards a broken particle-hole symmetry state. The critical temperature, as a function of the relevant parameters, has a re-entrant behavior as already ob…
We develop a workflow to use current quantum computing hardware for solving quantum many-body problems, using the example of the fermionic Hubbard model. Concretely, we study a four-site Hubbard ring that exhibits a transition from a product state to an intrinsically interacting ground state as hopping amplitudes are changed. We locate this transition and solve for the ground state energy with high quantitative accuracy using a variational quantum algorithm executed on an IBM quantum computer. Our results are enabled by a variational ansatz that takes full advantage of the maximal set of commu…
The electric-field response of a one-dimensional ring of interacting fermions, where the interactions are described by the extended Hubbard model, is investigated. By using an accurate real-time propagation scheme based on the Chebyshev expansion of the evolution operator, we uncover various non-linear regimes for a range of interaction parameters that allows modeling of metallic and insulating (either charge density wave or spin density wave insulators) rings. The metallic regime appears at the phase boundary between the two insulating phases and provides the opportunity to describe either we…
The extended Hubbard model in the atomic limit (AL-EHM) on a square lattice with periodic boundary conditions is studied with use of the Monte Carlo (MC) method. Within the grand canonical ensemble the phase and order-order boundaries for charge orderings are obtained. The phase diagrams include three types of charge ordered phases and the nonordered phase. The system exhibits very rich structure and shows unusual multicritical behavior. In the limiting case of tij = 0, the EHM is equivalent to the pseudospin model with single-ion anisotropy 1/2U, exchange interaction W in an effective magneti…
A simple effective model of charge ordered insulators is studied. The tight binding Hamiltonian consists of the effective on-site interaction U and the intersite density-density interactions Wij (both: nearest-neighbour and next-nearest-neighbour). In the analysis of the phase diagrams we have adopted the variational approach, which treats the on-site interaction term exactly and the intersite interactions within the mean-field approximation. The phase separated states have not been taken into account in previous analyses. Our investigations of two cases of the on-site interaction: attraction …
The Hubbard on-site repulsion $U$ between opposite spin electrons on the same atomic orbital is widely regarded to be the most important source of electronic correlation in solids. Here we extend the Hubbard model to account for the fact that the experimentally measured atomic $U$ is different from the one obtained by calculation of the atomic Coulomb integral. The resulting model describes quasiparticles that become increasingly dressed as the number of electrons in the band increases. Superconductivity can result in this model through quasiparticle undressing. Various signatures of this phys…
The Hubbard model is used to study an electronic system. In this paper we present the new path integral representation for Hubbard model. We have constructed the new supercoherent state which appears from a set of eigenfunctions of atomic limit of strongly correlated systems. Exact calculation of nonlinear representation of a supergroup has been carried. This group defines the transformation of atomic base. The general formalism we elaborate for Hubbard model is the one widely used in the gauge field theory of the nonlinear representation of a superconformal group.
BCS theory accounts for the pairing instability in the weak coupling limit, but fails to describe pairing fluctuations above $T_c$. One possibility for describing these fluctuations in the dilute limit is the T-matrix approximation. We critically examine various degrees of self-consistency in the T-matrix formalism, along with a non-diagrammatic two-particle self-consistent (TPSC) formulation, in the strong coupling regime, where an exact solution is readily available. We find that one particular degree of self-consistency is quite accurate, particularly at low temperature as evidenced by exam…
In the present work ferromagnetic ordering in the Hubbard model generalized by taking into account the inter-atomic exchange interaction and correlated hopping in partially filled narrow band is considered. In the case of weak electron-electron interaction the ground state energy and condition of ferromagnetic state realization are found using the Green function technique. The obtained results indicate the important role of correlated hopping.
The Hubbard model is used to study an electronic system. In this paper we present the new path integral representation for Hubbard model. We have constructed the new supercoherent state for spinless electrons which appears from a set of eigenfunctions of atomic limit of strongly correlated systems. Exact calculation of nonlinear representation of a supergroup has been carried. This group defines the transformation of atomic base. The general formalism we elaborate for Hubbard model is the one widely used in the gauge field theory of the nonlinear representation of a superconformal group.
In the first part of our theoretical study of correlated atomic wires on substrates, we introduced lattice models for a one-dimensional quantum wire on a three-dimensional substrate and their approximation by quasi-one-dimensional effective ladder models [arXiv:1704.07350]. In this second part, we apply this approach to the case of a correlated wire with a Hubbard-type electron-electron repulsion deposited on an insulating substrate. The ground-state and spectral properties are investigated numerically using the density-matrix renormalization group method and quantum Monte Carlo simulations. A…
We discuss the spectroscopic fingerprints that a surface Mott-Hubbard insulator should show at the intra-atomic level. The test case considered is that of the Si-terminated SiC(0001) sqrt{3}xsqrt{3} surface, which is known experimentally to be insulating. We argue that, due to the Mott-Hubbard phenomenon, spin unpaired electrons in the Si adatom dangling bonds are expected to give rise to a Si-2p core level spectrum with a characteristic three-peaked structure, as seen experimentally. This structure results from the joint effect of intra-atomic exchange, spatial anisotropy, and spin-orbit coup…
Motivated by the novel electronic behaviors seen in transition metal oxides, we look for physical insight into disordered, strongly-correlated systems by exploring the atomic limit. In recent work, the atomic limit has provided a useful reference point in systems with strong {\em local} interactions. For comparison with experiments, the exploration of {\em non}local interactions is of interest. In the atomic limit, both the case of on-site interactions alone and the case of infinite-range ($1/r$) interactions are well understood; however, not so the intervening possibilities. Here we study the…
We study the transmission properties of a few-site Hubbard rings with up to second-nearest neighbor coupling embedded to a ring-shaped lead using exact diagonalization. The approach captures all the correlation effects and enables us to include interactions both in the ring and in the ring-shaped lead, and study on an equal footing weak and strong coupling between the ring and the lead as well as asymmetry. In the weakly coupled case, we find fractional periodicity at all electron fillings at sufficiently high Hubbard U, similar to isolated rings. For strongly coupled rings, on the contrary, f…
We derive a "Wannier-Hubbard" model consisting of an array of overlapping atomic orbitals interacting via a local Coulomb interaction. Transforming to an orthogonal Wannier basis set, the resulting Hamiltonian displays long range hopping and interactions, with new terms such as correlated hopping and ferromagnetic direct exchange, among others. We numerically study the one-dimensional version of the model at half-filling using the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) method, unveiling a rich phase diagram as a function of the interaction $U$ and the overlap $s$ with metallic, and ferrom…
We present a comprehensive study of the thermodynamic properties of the three-dimensional fermionic Hubbard model, with application to cold fermionic atoms subject to an optical lattice and a trapping potential. Our study is focused on the temperature range of current experimental interest. We employ two theoretical methods - dynamical mean-field theory and high-temperature series - and perform comparative benchmarks to delimitate their respective range of validity. Special attention is devoted to understand the implications that thermodynamic properties of this system have on cooling. Conside…
We apply a diagrammatic expansion method around the atomic limit (U >> t) for the U-t-t' Hubbard model at half filling and finite temperature by means of a continued fraction representation of the one-particle Green's function. From the analysis of the spectral function A(\vec{k},ω) we find an energy dispersion relation with a (cos k_x-cos k_y)^2 modulation of the energy gap in the insulating phase. This anisotropy is compared with experimental ARPES results on insulating cuprates.
Motivated by experiments on doped transition metal oxides, this paper considers the interplay of interactions, disorder, kinetic energy and temperature in a simple system. An ensemble of two-site Anderson-Hubbard model systems has already been shown to display a zero-bias anomaly which shares features with that found in the two-dimensional Anderson-Hubbard model. Here the temperature dependence of the density of states of this ensemble is examined. In the atomic limit, there is no zero-bias anomaly at zero temperature, but one develops at small nonzero temperatures. With hopping, small tempera…
It is shown that in the Bose-Fermi-Hubbard model which is used for a description of the ultracold atomic boson-fermion mixture in the optical lattice, the $n_\text{B}\leqslant 2$ restriction enables one to analyze a more general case of separated lobes Mott insulator in comparison with the case of $n_\text{B} \leqslant 1$ (hard-core bosons). It also showed that the restriction to no more than 2 bosons on site is enough to comprehend the structure of $(μ, |t_0|)$ diagrams at arbitrary $n^\text{b}$ values with an account of a possibility of the 1st order phase transition.
Spin-only descriptions of the half-filled one-band Hubbard model are relevant for a wide range of Mott insulators. In addition to the usual Heisenberg exchange, many new types of interactions, including ring exchange, appear in the effective Hamiltonian in the intermediate coupling regime. In order to improve on the quantitative description of magnetic excitations in the insulating antiferromagnetic phase of copper-oxide (cuprate) materials, and to be consistent with band structure calculations and photoemission experiments on these systems, we include second and third neighbor hopping paramet…
There have been considerable research efforts devoted to quantum simulations of Fermi-Hubbard model with ultracold atoms loaded in optical lattices. In such experiments, the antiferromagnetically ordered quantum state has been achieved at half filling in recent years. The atomic lattice away from half filling is expected to host d-wave superconductivity, but its low temperature phases have not been reached. In a recent work, we proposed an approach of incommensurate quantum adiabatic doping, using quantum adiabatic evolution of an incommensurate lattice for preparation of the highly correlated…
In this paper we present for the first time the exact solution in the narrow-band limit of the 1D extended Hubbard model with nearest-neighbour spin-spin interactions described by an exchange constant J. An external magnetic field h is also taken into account. This result has been obtained in the framework of the Green's functions formalism, using the Composite Operator Method. By means of this theoretical background, we have studied some relevant features such as double occupancy, magnetization, spin-spin and charge-charge correlation functions and derived a phase diagram for both ferro (J>0)…
We present the exact solution of the one-dimensional extended Hubbard model in the atomic limit within the Green's function and equation of motion formalism. We provide a comprehensive and systematic analysis of the model by considering all the relevant response and correlation functions as well as thermodynamic quantities in the whole parameter space. At zero temperature we identify four phases in the plane (U,n) [U is the onsite potential and n is the filling] and relative phase transitions as well as different types of charge ordering. These features are endorsed by investigating at T=0 the…
We study a twisted Hubbard tube modeling the [CrAs] structure of quasi-one-dimensional superconductors A2Cr3As3 (A = K, Rb, Cs). The molecular-orbital bands emerging from the quasi-degenerate atomic orbitals are exactly solved. An effective Hamiltonian is derived for a region where three partially filled bands intersect the Fermi energy. The deduced local interactions among these active bands show a significant reduction compared to the original atomic interactions. The resulting three-channel Luttinger liquid shows various interaction-induced instabilities including two kinds of spin-triplet …
