The collective ground-state correlations stemming from low-lying quadrupole excitations are computed microscopically. To that end, the self-consistent mean-field model is employed on the basis of the Skyrme-Hartre-Fock (SHF) functional augmented by BCS pairing. The microscopic-macroscopic mapping is achieved by quadrupole-constrained mean-field calculations which are processed further in the generator-coordinate method (GCM) at the level of the Gaussian overlap approximation (GOA).
We study the correlation effects on energy, charge radii, and surface thickness for a great variety of semi-magic nuclei. A key issue is to work out the influence of variations of the SHF functional. We find that collective ground-state correlations (GSC) are robust under change of nuclear bulk properties (e.g., effective mass, symmetry energy) or of spin-orbit coupling. Some dependence on the pairing strength is observed. This, however, does not change the general conclusion that collective GSC obey a general pattern and that their magnitudes are rather independent of the actual SHF parameters.
We study the sensitivity of the collective transverse in-plane flow to the symmetry energy and its density dependence at Fermi energies and higher incident energies. We find that collective transverse in-plane flow is sensitive to the symmetry energy and its density dependence at Fermi energies whereas it shows insensitivity at higher incident energies.
Collective flows in heavy-ion collisions from AGS ($(2-11)A$ GeV) to SPS ($(40,158)A$ GeV) energies are investigated in a nonequilibrium transport model with nuclear mean-field (MF). Sideward $<p_x>$, directed $v_1$, and elliptic flows $v_2$ are systematically studied with different assumptions on the nuclear equation of state (EOS). We find that momentum dependence in the nuclear MF is important for the understanding of the proton collective flows at AGS and SPS energies. Calculated results with momentum dependent MF qualitatively reproduce the experimental data of proton sideward, directed, …
We report the first global study of dynamic correlation energies (DCEs) associated with rotational motion and quadrupole shape vibrational motion in a covariant energy density functional (CEDF) for 575 even-even nuclei with proton numbers ranging from $Z=8$ to $Z=108$ by solving a five-dimensional collective Hamiltonian, the collective parameters of which are determined from triaxial relativistic mean-field plus BCS calculation using the PC-PK1 force. After taking into account these beyond mean-field DCEs, the root-mean-square (rms) deviation with respect to nuclear masses is reduced significa…
Radial collective flow and thermalization are studied in gold on gold collisions at 150, 250 and 400 A MeV bombarding energies with a relativistically covariant formulation of a QMD code. We find that radial flow and "thermal" energies calculated for all the charged fragments agree reasonably with the experimental values. The experimental hardware filter at small angles used in the FOPI experiments at higher energies selects mainly the thermalized particles.
The nuclear collective excitations are studied within Landau Fermi liquid theory. By using the nucleon-nucleon interaction of the linear sigma-omega model, the nuclear collective excitation energies of different values of $l$ are obtained, which are fitted with the centroid energies of the giant resonances of spherical nuclei, respectively. In addition, it is pointed out that the isovector giant resonances except l=1 correspond to the modes that protons are in the creation state and neutrons are in the annihilation state, and vice versa. Some mixtures of the nuclear collective excitation state…
Isoscalar collective modes in a relativistic meson-nucleon system are investigated in the framework of the time-dependent Thomas-Fermi method. The energies of the collective modes are determined by solving consistently the dispersion relations and the boundary conditions. The energy weighted sum rule satisfied by the model allows the identification of the giant ressonances. The percentage of the energy weighted sum rule exhausted by the collective modes is in agreement with experimental data, but the energies come too high.
Nuclear binding energies and two-neutron separation energies are analyzed starting from the liquid-drop model and the nuclear shell model in order to describe the global trends of the above observables. We subsequently concentrate on the Interacting Boson Model (IBM) and discuss a new method in order to provide a consistent description of both, ground-state and excited-state properties. We address the artefacts that appear when crossing mid-shell using the IBM formulation and perform detailed numerical calculations for nuclei situated in the 50-82 shell. We also concentrate on local deviations…
The Skyrme potential energy density functional is introduced into the Ultrarelativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics (UrQMD) model and the updated version is applied to studying the directed and elliptic flows of light particles (protons, neutrons, deuterons, tritons, $^3$He and $^4$He) in $^{197}$Au+$^{197}$Au collisions at beam energies 150, 250 and 400 MeV/nucleon. The results are compared with the recent FOPI experimental data. It is found that the yields and collective flows of light particles can be described quite well. The influence of the equation of state (EoS), medium-modified nucleon…
Strangeness (K$^{0,+}$, $Λ$ and $Σ^{-,0,+}$) production in heavy-ion collisions near threshold energies has been investigated within the Lanzhou quantum molecular dynamics (LQMD) transport model. The kaon (anti-kaon)-nucleon and hyperon-nucleon potentials in dense nuclear matter are implemented in the model, which are computed from the chiral perturbation approach and the relativistic mean-field model, respectively. It is found that the in-medium potentials change the structure of transverse flow, and also affect the rapidity distributions and the inclusive spectra for strangeness production. …
The energies of subsets of excited 0+ states in geometric collective models are investigated and found to exhibit intriguing regularities. In models with an infinite square well potential, it is found that a single formula, dependent on only the number of dimensions, describes a subset of 0+ states. The same behavior of a subset of 0+ states is seen in the large boson number limit of the Interacting Boson Approximation (IBA) model near the critical point of a first order phase transition, in contrast to the fact that these 0+ state energies exhibit a harmonic behavior in all three limiting sym…
An abrupt change in $α$ decay systematics around the N=126 neutron shell closure is discussed. It is explained as a sudden hindrance of the clustering of the nucleons that eventually form the $α$ particle. This is because the clustering induced by the pairing mode acting upon the four nucleons is inhibited if the configuration space does not allow a proper manifestation of the pairing collectivity.
Collective flow observables are known to be a sensitive tool to gain insights on the equation of state of nuclear matter from heavy-ion collision observations. Towards more quantitative constraints one has to carefully assess other influences on the collective behaviour. In this work a hadronic transport approach SMASH (Simulating Many Accelerated Strongly-interacting Hadrons) is applied to study the first four anisotropic flow coefficients in Au+Au collisions at $E_{\rm lab}=1.23A$ GeV in the context of the recently measured data by the HADES collaboration. In particular, the formation of lig…
In a new application of the algebraic Interacting Vector Boson Model (IVBM), we exploit the reduction of its Sp(12,R) dynamical symmetry group to Sp(4,R) x SO(3), which defines basis states with fixed values of the angular momentum L. The relationship of the latter to $U(6) \subset U(3)x U(2), which is the rotational limit of the model, means the energy distribution of collective states with fixed angular momentum can be studied. Results for low-lying spectra of rare-earth nuclei show that the energies of collective positive parity states with L=0,2,4,6... lie on second order curves with respe…
We investigate the effect of single-particle excitations on heavy-ion reactions at energies near the Coulomb barrier. To this end, we describe single-particle degrees of freedom with the random matrix theory and solve the coupled-channels equations for one-dimensional systems. We find that the single-particle excitations hinder the penetrability at energies above the barrier, leading to a smeared barrier distribution. This indicates that the single-particle excitations provide a promising way to explain the difference in a quasi-elastic barrier distribution recently observed in $^{20}$Ne + $^{…
We apply the hydrodynamic model for the dynamics of matter created in p-Pb collisions at 4.4TeV and d-Pb collisions at 3.11TeV. The fluctuating initial conditions are calculated in the Glauber Monte-Carlo model for several centrality classes. The expansion is performed event by event in 3+1-dimensional viscous hydrodynamics. Noticeable elliptic and triangular flows appear in the distributions of produced particles.
Depending on the energy regime, the dynamics of heavy-ion collisions reveals a variety of different mechanisms which are attributed to the combination of collective and dissipative effects. Semi-classical approaches have been successful in describing chaotic regimes at Fermi-energies but they gradually lose precision when extending to collective behaviour and in general when low-energy features become more determinant in the dynamics. To improve on this description, we propose a theoretical approach starting from the TDHF scheme. A quantum representation with a moving basis function has been w…
The nuclear landscape has been investigated within the triaxial relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory with the PC-PK1 density functional, and the beyond-mean-field dynamical correlation energies are taken into account by a microscopically mapped five-dimensional collective Hamiltonian without additional free parameters. The effects of triaxial deformation and dynamical correlations on the nuclear landscape are analyzed. The present results provide the best description of the experimental binding energies, in particular for medium and heavy mass regions, in comparison with the results obtained…
A recent updated version of the Lanzhou quantum molecular dynamics is reviewed, in which the momentum dependence of symmetry potential and the effective mass splitting of proton and neutron in nuclear medium are included in the model. The in-medium nucleon-nucleon (NN) elastic cross sections are evaluated with the scaling approach according to the effective mass and their influence on collective flows in heavy-ion collisions are discussed. The inelastic cross sections, in particular for the process of the channel N$Δ\rightarrow$NN, are parameterized in accordance with the available experimenta…
An interacting boson model Hamiltonian determined from Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculations with the new microscopic Gogny energy density functional D1M, is applied to the spectroscopic analysis of neutron-rich Yb, Hf, W, Os and Pt isotopes with mass $A\sim 180-200$. Excitation energies and transition rates for the relevant low-lying quadrupole collective states are calculated by this method. Transitions from prolate to oblate ground-state shapes are analyzed as a function of neutron number $N$ in a given isotopic chain by calculating excitation energies, $B$(E2) ratios, and correlation energi…
We present an analysis of multifragmentation events observed in central Xe+Sn reactions at Fermi energies. Performing a comparison between the predictions of the Stochastic Mean Field (SMF) transport model and experimental data, we investigate the impact of the compression-expansion dynamics on the properties of the final reaction products. We show that the amount of radial collective expansion, which characterizes the dynamical stage of the reaction, influences directly the onset of multifragmentation and the kinematic properties of multifragmentation events. For the same set of events we als…
The properties of nuclear matter under extreme conditions of high temperature, density and isospin-asymmetry have attracted wide attentions in recent years. At present, heavy ion reactions in combination with corresponding model simulations are one of the most important ways to investigate this subject. It is known that a strong magnetic field can be created in heavy ion collisions. However, its effect on the motion of charged particles is usually neglected in previous transport model simulations. In this work, within the Ultra-relativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics (UrQMD) model, the tempora…
The ATDHFB approach has been applied for a study of properties of collective quadrupole states in several transactinide nuclei: 238U, 240Pu, 242Pu, 246Cm, 248Cm, 250Cf and 252Cf. Calculated energies and B(E2) transition probabilities are in a reasonable agreement with experimental data. Results concerning superdeformed collective states in the 240Pu nucleus are also presented.
By considering three different Nucleon-Nucleon (NN) elastic differential cross sections: the Cugnon \emph{et al.} parameterized differential cross section [Nucl. Instrum. Methods Phys. Res., Sect. \textbf{B111}, 215 (1996)], and the differential cross section derived from the collision term of the self-consistent relativistic Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck equation proposed by Mao \emph{et al.} [Z.\ Phys.\ A {\bf 347}, 173 (1994)], as well as the isotropic differential cross section, within the newly updated version of the ultrarelativistic quantum molecular dynamics (UrQMD) model, the influence …
The isoscalar (IS) and isovector (IV) quadrupole responses of nuclei are systematically investigated using the time-dependent Skyrme Energy Density Functional including pairing in the BCS approximation. Using two different Skyrme functionals, Sly4 and SkM*, respectively 263 and 304 nuclei have been found to be spherical along the nuclear charts. The time-dependent evolution of these nuclei has been systematically performed giving access to their quadrupole responses. It is shown that the mean-energy of the collective high energy state globally reproduces the experimental IS and IV collective e…
The Quantum Molecular Dynamics Model (IQMD) is used to investigate the origin of the collective transverse velocity observed in heavy ion experiments. We find that there are three contributions to this effect: initial-final state correlations, potential interactions and collisions. For a given nuclear equation of state (eos) the increase of the transverse velocity with increasing beam energy is caused by the potential part. For a given beam energy the collective transverse velocity is independent of the nuclear eos but the relative contributions of potential and collisions differ. In view of t…
In this letter I present further data that show the remarkable evidence for the existence of an alpha-cluster stucture in the ground states of even-even N=Z nuclei. Such a remarkable systematic was observed 20 years ago for these nuclei at A<= 72 and is extended here up to A=100.
Low energy quadrupole excitations of the 84-110Mo nuclei are studied in the frame of the general Bohr collective model based on the ATDHFB method with the Skyrme effective interaction. Obtained energies of the 2_1, 4_1, 2_2 and 0_2 levels and B(E2) values for the 2_1 -> 0_g.s transitions are in good agreement with experimental data.
A systematic study of low energy nuclear structure at normal deformation is carried out using the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory extended by the Generator Coordinate Method and mapped onto a 5-dimensional collective quadrupole Hamiltonian. Results obtained with the Gogny D1S interaction are presented from dripline to dripline for even-even nuclei with proton numbers Z=10 to Z=110 and neutron numbers N less than 200. The properties calculated for the ground states are their charge radii, 2-particle separation energies, correlation energies, and the intrinsic quadrupole shape parameters. For the…
Local correlations of $2^+_1$ excitation energies and B(E2, $2^+_1\rightarrow \text{ g.s.}$) values require linear $N_pN_n$ systematics in a logarithmic scale, as confirmed by an experiment survey. Based on local correlations of $α$-decay energies, neutron separation energies, and proton separation energies, one can decouple them into their proton and neutron contributions separately. These contributions exhibit smooth regional systematics beyond the $N_pN_n$ scheme.
Quadrupole excitations of even-even Ru and Pd isotopes are described within microscopic approach based on the general collective Bohr model which includes the effect of coupling with the pairing vibrations. The excitation energies and E2 transition probabilities observed in 104-114Ru and 106-110Pd are reproduced in the frame of the calculation containing no free parameters.
We deal with the systematics of one and two proton separation energies as predicted by our latest global model for the masses of nuclides developed with the use of neural networks. Among others, such systematics is useful as input to the astrophysical rp-process and to the one and two proton radioactive studies. Our results are compared with the experimental separation energies referred to in the 2003 Atomic Mass Evaluation and with those evaluated from theoretical models for the masses of nuclides, like the FRDM of Möller et al. and the HFB2 of Pearson et al. We focus in particular on th…
One of the fundamental ground-state properties of nuclei is binding energy. In this study, we have employed artificial neural networks (ANNs) to obtain binding energies based on the data calculated from Hartree-Fock-Bogolibov (HFB) method with the two SLy4 and SKP Skyrme forces. Also, ANNs have been employed to obtain two-neutron and two-proton separation energies of nuclei. Statistical modeling of nuclear data using ANNs has been seen as to be successful in this study. Such a statistical model can be possible tool for searching in systematics of nuclei beyond existing experimental nuclear dat…
Within the framework of an isospin-dependent Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (BUU) model using initial proton and neutron densities calculated from the nonlinear relativistic mean-field (RMF) theory, we compare the strength of transverse collective flow in reactions $^{48}Ca+^{58}Fe$ and $^{48}Cr+^{58}Ni$, which have the same mass number but different neutron/proton ratios. The neutron-rich system ($^{48}Ca+^{58}Fe$) is found to show significantly stronger negative deflection and consequently has a higher balance energy, especially in peripheral collisions. NOTE ADDED IN PROOF: The new phenomenon …
We investigate the influence of phenomenological three-nucleon interactions on the systematics of ground-state energies and charge radii throughout the whole nuclear mass range from 4-He to 208-Pb. The three-nucleon interactions supplement unitarily transformed two-body interactions constructed within the Unitary Correlation Operator Method or the Similarity Renormalization Group approach. To be able to address heavy nuclei as well, we treat the many-body problem in Hartree-Fock plus many-body perturbation theory, which is sufficient to assess the systematics of energies and radii, and limit o…
A systematic analysis of the fusion cross sections around the Coulomb barrier energies with stable weakly bound ($^{6}$Li,$^{7}$Li,$^{9}$Be) and strongly bound $^{12}$C projectiles on various targets was performed by using neutron flow model and coupled channels approach. The analysis show that both the models are successful in explaining the near barrier fusion data. Further, it is also observed that the collective degrees of freedom as well as the neutron flow influence the near barrier fusion process involving weakly bound projectiles.
We calculate correlation energies associated with the quadrupolar shape degrees of freedom with a view to improving the self-consistent mean-field theory of nuclear binding energies. The Generator Coordinate Method is employed using mean-field wave functions and the Skyrme SLy4 interaction. Systematic results are presented for 605 even-even nuclei of known binding energies, going from mass A=16 up to the heaviest known. The correlation energies range from 0.5 to 6.0 MeV in magnitude and are rather smooth except for large variations at magic numbers and in light nuclei. Inclusion of these corre…
Dependence of the kinetic energy term of the collective nuclear Hamiltonian on collective momentum is considered. It is shown that the fourth order in collective momentum term of the collective quadrupole Hamiltonian generates a sizable effect on the excitation energies and the matrix elements of the quadrupole moment operator. It is demonstrated that the results of calculation are sensitive to the values of some matrix elements of the quadrupole moment. It stresses the importance for a concrete nucleus to have the experimental data for the reduced matrix elements of the quadrupole moment oper…
A strong differential transverse collective flow is predicted for the first time to occur in heavy-ion collisions at balance energies. We also give a novel explanation for the disappearance of the total transverse collective flow at the balance energies. It is further shown that the differential flow especially at high transverse momenta is a useful microscope capable of resolving the balance energy's dual sensitivity to both the nuclear equation of state and in-medium nucleon-nucleon cross sections in the reaction dynamics.
Interpretation of the B(E2) values at energies higher the first backbending indicates that the maximum boson of IBM has to increase with energy and spin.
Systematic analysis of available data for $ω$-meson photoproduction is given in frame of Regge theory. At photon energies above 20 GeV the $γ{+}p{\to}ω{+}p$ reaction is entirely dominated by Pomeron exchange. However, it was found that Pomeron exchange model can not reproduce the $γ{+}p{\to}ρ{+}p$ and $γ{+}p{\to}ω{+}p$ data at high energies simultaneously with the same set of parameters. The comparison between $ρ$ and $ω$ data indicates a large room for meson exchange contribution to $ω$-meson photoproduction at low energies. It was found that at low energies the dominant contribution comes fr…
The dynamics present in the fusion of neutron-rich nuclei is explored through the comparison of experimental cross-sections at above-barrier energies with measurements of the interaction cross-section at relativistic energies. The increase of fusion dynamics with increasing neutron excess is clearly demonstrated. Experimental cross-sections are compared with the predictions of a Sao Paulo model using relativistic mean field density distributions and the impact of different interactions is explored.
We study low energy shape oscillations of negative parity in the first and second (isomeric) minima in actinides. As a main tool we use the phenomenological Woods-Saxon potential with a variety of shape deformations. This allows to include a mixing of various multipolarities when considering oscillations with a fixed $K$ quantum number. The phonon energies are determined either from the collective Hamiltonian with the microscopic-macrocopic energy and cranking mass parameters, or from its simplified version with the constant mass parameters. The results for $K^π=0^-$,$1^-$ in the first minima …
The collective Hamiltonian including isovector pairing and $α$-particle type correlation degrees of freedom is constructed. The Hamiltonian is applied to description of the relative energies of the ground states of even-even nuclei around $^{56}$Ni. A satisfactory description of the experimental data is obtained. A significant improvement of the agreement with the experimental data compared to our previous calculations is explained by inclusion in the Hamiltonian of the dynamical variables describing $α$-particle type correlations.
The azimuthal anisotropies of the collective transverse flow of charged hadrons are investigated in a wide range of heavy-ion collision energies within the microscopic Parton-Hadron-String Dynamics (PHSD) transport approach which incorporates explicit partonic degrees-of-freedom in terms of strongly interacting quasiparticles (quarks and gluons) in line with an equation-of-state from lattice QCD as well as the dynamical hadronization and hadronic collision dynamics in the final reaction phase. The experimentally observed increase of the elliptic flow $v_2$ of charged hadrons with collision ene…
Comparing the capture cross sections calculated without the breakup effect and experimental complete fusion cross sections, the breakup was analyzed in reactions with weakly bound projectiles $^{6,7,9}$Li, $^{9,11}$Be, and $^{6,8}$He. A trend of a systematic behavior for the complete fusion suppression as a function of the target charge and bombarding energy is not achieved. The quasielastic backscattering is suggested to be an useful tool to study the behavior of the breakup probability in reactions with weakly bound projectiles.
The large magnitude and the sign correlation effect in the parity non-conserving resonant scattering of epithermal neutrons from $^{232}$Th is discussed in terms of a non-collective $2p-1h$ local doorway model. General conclusions are drawn as to the probability of finding large parity violation effects in other regions of the periodic table.
A remarkably simple regularity in the energies of 0+ states in a broad class of collective models is discussed. A single formula for all 0+ states in flat-bottomed infinite potentials that depends only on the number of dimensions and a simpler expression applicable to all three IBA symmetries in the large boson number limit are presented. Finally, a connection between the energy expression for 0+ states given by the X(5) model and the predictions of the IBA near the critical point is explored.
Using the random matrix model, we discuss the effect of couplings to non-collective states on the penetrability of a one dimensional potential barrier. We show that these non-collective excitations hinder the penetrability and thus smear the barrier distribution at energies above the barrier, while they do not affect significantly the penetrability at deep subbarrier energies. The energy dependence of the Q-value distribution obtained with this model is also discussed.
A recent proposed method for $α$-decay energies ($Q_α$) [J.M. Dong, W. Zuo, and W. Scheid, Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{107}, 012501 (2011)] can reproduce experimental data of superheavy nuclei (SHN) with an $rms$-value of less than 100 keV. However, a sinusoid-like periodic deviation from experiments, which limits the accuracy in predictions, is observed when using different reference nuclei. In this paper, we have further extended this hybrid method, i.e., to predict $Q_α$ of the as-yet-unobserved SHN with the help of known nuclei. It is found that the systematic deviation in previous study is r…
The Alt-Grassberger-Sandhas N-body theory is used to study interaction of eta-mesons with d, 3He, and 4He. Separable expansion of the subamplitudes is adopted to convert the integral equations into the quasi-two-body form. The resulting formalism is applied to fit the existing data for low-energy eta production on few-nucleon targets. On the basis of this fitting procedure the scattering lengths a_{eta d}, a_{eta 3He}, a_{eta 4He} as well as the subthreshold behaviour of the elementary eta-N scattering amplitude are obtained.
The measurement of azimuthal distributions in nucleus-nucleus collisions relies upon the assumption that azimuthal correlations between particles result solely from their correlation with the reaction plane (i.e. flow). We show that at SPS energies, the ansatz is no longer valid, and two-particle correlations due to momentum conservation, final state interactions or resonance decays become of the same order as those arising from flow. This leads us to introduce new methods to analyse collective flow, based on a cumulant expansion, which enable to extract smaller values than those accessible to…
We investigate collective multipole excitations for closed shell nuclei from 16O to 208Pb using correlated realistic nucleon -nucleon interactions in the framework of the random phase approximation (RPA). The dominant short-range central and tensor correlations a re treated explicitly within the Unitary Correlation Operator Method (UCOM), which provides a phase-shift equivalent correlated interaction V_UCOM adapted to simple uncorrelated Hilbert spaces. The same unitary transformation that defines the correlated interaction is used to derive correlated transition operators. Using V_UCOM we sol…
We employed the new issue of a parton and hadron cascade model PACIAE 2.1 to systematically investigate the charged particle elliptic flow parameter $v_2$ in the relativistic nuclear collisions at RHIC and LHC energies. With randomly sampling the transverse momentum $x$ and $y$ components of the particles generated in string fragmentation on the circumference of an ellipse instead of circle originally, the calculated charged particle $v_2(η)$ and $v_2(p_T)$ fairly reproduce the corresponding experimental data in the Au+Au/Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=0.2/2.76 TeV. In addition, the charg…
Through ab initio approaches in nuclear theory, we may now seek to quantitatively understand the wealth of nuclear collective phenomena starting from the underlying internucleon interactions. No-core configuration interaction (NCCI) calculations for p-shell nuclei give rise to rotational bands, as evidenced by rotational patterns for excitation energies, electromagnetic moments, and electromagnetic transitions. In this review, NCCI calculations of 7-9Be are used to illustrate and explore ab initio rotational structure, and the resulting predictions for rotational band properties are compared w…
A collective bands of positive and negative parity could be composed of the vibrations and rotations. The rotations of the octupole configurations can be based either on the axial or the non-axial octupole vibrations. A consistent approach to the quadrupole-octupole collective vibrations coupled with the rotational motion enables to distinguish between various scenarios of disappearance of the E2 transitions in negative-parity bands. The here presented theoretical estimates are compared with the recent experimental energies and transition probabilities in and between the ground-state and low-e…
A relativistic mean field description of collective excitations of atomic nuclei is studied in the framework of a fully self-consistent relativistic random phase approximation (RRPA). In particular, results of RRPA calculations of multipole giant resonances and of low-lying collective states in spherical nuclei are analyzed. By using effective Lagrangians which, in the mean-field approximation, provide an accurate description of ground-state properties, an excellent agreement with experimental data is also found for the excitation energies of low-lying collective states and of giant resonances…
