In this paper, we present details of the dual fermion (DF) method to study the non-local correction to single site DMFT. The DMFT two-particle Green's function is calculated using continuous time quantum monte carlo (CT-QMC) method. The momentum dependence of the vertex function is analyzed and its renormalization based on the Bethe-Salpeter equation is performed in particle-hole channel. We found a magnetic instability in both the dual and the lattice fermions. The lattice fermion susceptibility is calculated at finite temperature in this method and also in another recently proposed method, namely dynamical vertex approximation (D$Γ$A). The comparison between these two methods are presented in both weak and strong coupling region. Compared to the susceptibility from quantum monte carlo (QMC) simulation, both of them gave satisfied results.
The magnetic susceptibility and the low-temperature specific heat of the 1-dimensional Hubbard model under the integrable open-boundary conditions are discussed through the Bethe ansatz with the string hypothesis. The contributions of the boundary fields to both the susceptibility and the specific heat are obtained, and their exact expressions are analytically derived.
Local spin fluctuations provide the glue for orbital-singlet spin-triplet pairing in the doped Mott insulating regime of multi-orbital Hubbard models. At large Hubbard repulsion $U$, the pairing susceptibility is nevertheless very low, because the pairing interaction cannot overcome the suppression of charge fluctuations. Using nonequilibrium dynamical mean field simulations of the two-orbital Hubbard model, we show that out of equilibrium the pairing susceptibility in this large-$U$ regime can be strongly enhanced by creating a photo-induced population of the relevant charge states, and that …
We compute the dynamical charge susceptibility in the two-dimensional Hubbard model within the dynamical cluster approximation. In order to understand the connection between charge susceptibility and pseudogap, we investigate the momentum, doping, and temperature dependence. We find that as a function of frequency, the dynamical charge susceptibility is well represented by a single peak at a characteristic frequency. It shows little momentum or temperature dependence, while the doping dependence is more evident, and no clear signature of the pseudogap is observed. Data for the doping evolution…
The effect of disorder on a class of transition metal oxides described by a single orbital Hubbard model at half filling is investigated. The phases are characterized by the nature of the electronic and spin excitations. The frequency and temperature-dependent conductivity and spin susceptibility as functions of disorder are calculated. The interplay of disorder and electron-electron interaction produces unusual behavior in this system. For example, the dc conductivity, which is vanishingly small at low disorder in the Mott phase and at high disorder in the localized phase, gets surprisingly e…
We treat the two-particle Green's function in the Hubbard model using the recently developed tau-CPA, a hybrid treatment that applies the coherent-potential approximation (CPA) up to a time tau related to the inverse of the band width, after which the system is averaged using the virtual-crystal approximation (VCA). This model, with suitable approximations, does predict magnetism for a modified Stoner criterion. The evaluation of the two-particle propagator in the tau-CPA requires the solution of the pure CPA, within whose formalism the vertex correction and the weighted Green's functions are …
The magnetic susceptibility of the two-dimensional repulsive Hubbard model with nearest-neighbor hopping is investigated using the diagram technique developed for the case of strong correlations. In this technique a power series in the hopping constant is used. At half-filling the calculated zero-frequency susceptibility and the square of the site spin reproduce adequately results of Monte Carlo simulations. Also in agreement with numerical simulations no evidence of ferromagnetic correlations was found in the considered range of electron concentrations $0.8\alt\bar{n}\alt 1.2$ for the repulsi…
We investigated the fidelity susceptibility in the one-dimension (1D) Hubbard model and the extended Hubbard model at half-filling via the density matrix renormalization group. From the numerical results, we argue that in the 1D Hubbard model, the fidelity susceptibility shows a divergence at two points which is infinitesimally close to the critical point while it is always extensive exactly at the critical point. For the extended Hubbard model, we found that for a properly chosen driving parameter, the fidelity susceptibility is able to reveal the quantum phase transitions between the PS (pha…
We compute dynamic spin susceptibilities in the two-dimensional Hubbard model using the method of Dual Fermions and provide comparison to lattice Monte Carlo and cluster dynamical mean field theory. We examine the energy dispersion identified by peaks in ${\rm Im}χ(ω,q)$ which define spin modes and compare the exchange scale and magnon dispersion to neutron experiments on the parent La$_2$CuO$_4$ cuprate. We present the evolution of the spin excitations as a function of Hubbard interaction strengths and doping and explore the particle-hole asymmetry of the spin excitations. We also study the c…
Based on the non-skeleton diagrammatic expansion satisfying the compressibility and spin-susceptibility sum rules, we investigate static charge and spin responses in a two-dimensional extended Hubbard model with the nearest-neighbor Coulomb repulsion in the vicinity of its charge-ordering transition point. In this expansion, we can calculate approximate charge and spin response functions by systematic inclusion of vertex corrections, from which we obtain the uniform susceptibility equal to the so-called q-limit of the response function and the second-order transition point as a divergent point…
The two-layer Hubbard model is studied by using the composite operator method. Magnetic properties of the model in the normal state are analyzed by studying the uniform static spin magnetic susceptibility as a function of doping and temperature. The relevance of the model to describe the physical behavior of two-layered cuprate high-$T_{c}$ superconductors is discussed.
The charge susceptibility of the two-dimensional repulsive Hubbard model is investigated using the diagram technique developed for the case of strong correlations. In this technique, a power series in the hopping constant is used. It is shown that once the Fermi level crosses one of the Hubbard subbands a sharp peak appears in the momentum dependence of the static susceptibility. With further departure from half-filling the peak transforms to a ridge around the $Γ$ point. In the considered range $0\leq|1-\bar{n}|\alt 0.2$ of the electron filling $\bar{n}$ the static susceptibility is finite wh…
A generalized version of the fidelity susceptibility of single-band and multi-orbital Hubbard models is systematically studied using single-site dynamical mean-field theory in combination with a hybridization expansion continuous-time quantum Monte Carlo impurity solver. We find that the fidelity susceptibility is extremely sensitive to changes in the state of the system. It can be used as a numerically inexpensive tool to detect and characterize a broad range of phase transitions and crossovers in Hubbard models, including (orbital-selective) Mott metal-insulator transitions, high-spin to low…
A dynamic cluster quantum Monte Carlo algorithm is used to study a spin susceptibility representation of the pairing interaction for the two-dimensional Hubbard model with an on-site Coulomb interaction equal to the bandwidth for various doping levels. We find that the pairing interaction is well approximated by ${3/2}\Ub(T)^2χ(K-K')$ with an effective temperature and doping dependent coupling $\Ub(T)$ and the numerically calculated spin susceptibility $χ(K-K')$. We show that at low temperatures, $\Ub$ may be accurately determined from a corresponding spin susceptibility based calculation of t…
We examine the validity of the weak coupling spin-susceptibility "glue" approximation (SSGA) in a two-dimensional Hubbard model for cuprates. For comparison, we employ the well-established dynamical cluster approximation (DCA) with a quantum Monte Carlo algorithm as a cluster solver. We compare the leading eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions of the DCA and SSGA pairing matrices. For realistic model parameters, we find that the SSGA fails to capture the leading pairing symmetries seen in the DCA. Furthermore, when the SSGA is improved through the addition of a term with d-wave symmetry…
We propose a novel parametrization of the four-point vertex function in the one-loop one-particle irreducible renormalization group (RG) scheme for fermions. It is based on a decomposition of the effective two-fermion interaction into fermion bilinears that interact via exchange bosons. Besides being more efficient than previous N-patch schemes, this parametrization also reduces the ambiguity of introducing boson fields. We apply this parametrization to the two-dimensional (t,t')-Hubbard model using a novel $Ω$-frequency regularization.
The magnetic susceptibility of the one-dimensional Hubbard model with open boundary conditions at arbitrary filling is obtained from field theory at low temperatures and small magnetic fields, including leading and next-leading orders. Logarithmic contributions to the bulk part are identified as well as algebraic-logarithmic divergences in the boundary contribution. As a manifestation of spin-charge separation, the result for the boundary part at low energies turns out to be independent of filling and interaction strength and identical to the result for the Heisenberg model. For the bulk part …
Here the line shape of the up- and down-spin one-particle spectral functions at and in the (k,energy)-plane's vicinity of their cusp singularities is studied for the Mott-Hubbard insulator described by the 1D Hubbard model with one fermion per site at zero and finite magnetic fields. At zero field they can be accessed in terms of electrons by photoemission experiments. At finite field, such functions and corresponding interplay of correlations and magnetic-field effects refer to an involved non-perturbative many-particle problem that is poorly understood. The Mott-Hubbard gap that separates th…
We investigate the interaction-induced superfluid-to-Mott insulator transition in the one-dimensional Bose-Hubbard model (BHM) for fillings $n=1$, $n=2$, and $n=3$ by studying the single-particle gap, the fidelity susceptibility, and the amplitude of Bloch oscillations via density-matrix renormalization-group methods. We apply a generic scaling procedure for the gap, which allows us to determine the critical points with very high accuracy. We also study how the fidelity susceptibility behaves across the phase transition. Furthermore, we show that in the BHM, and in a system of spinless fermion…
We study the two-dimensional (2D) Hubbard model using exact diagonalization for spin-1/2 fermions on the triangular and honeycomb lattices decorated with a single hexagon per site. In certain parameter ranges, the Hubbard model maps to a quantum compass model on those lattices. On the triangular lattice, the compass model exhibits collinear stripe antiferromagnetism, implying $d$-density wave charge order in the original Hubbard model. On the honeycomb lattice, the compass model has a unique, quantum disordered ground state that transforms nontrivially under lattice reflection. The ground stat…
We report here how artificial, thus erroneous, scaling laws of the dynamical magnetic susceptibility can be obtained when data are not treated carefully. We consider the example of the heavy-fermion system Ce$_{0.925}$La$_{0.075}$Ru$_{2}$Si$_{2}$ and we explain how different kinds of artificial scaling laws in $E/T^β$ can be plotted in a low temperature regime where the dynamical susceptibility is nearly temperature independent.
The thermodynamic properties: specific heat, entropy, spin susceptibility $χ_s$ and charge susceptibility $χ_c$ are studied as a function of temperature and doping within the two-dimensional Hubbard model with various $U/t=4 - 12$. Quantities are calculated using the finite-temperature Lanczos method with additional phase-averaging for a system of $4\times 4$ sites. Results show that the entropy at low $T$ reaches a maximum near half-filling at the electron density $n \sim 1\pm 0.15$ in the whole regime of studied $U/t$. The pseudogap in $χ_s(T)$ becomes clearly pronounced for $U/t \geq 8$ whi…
We derive an efficient method for treating renormalization contributions at two-loop level within the functional renormalization group in the one-particle irreducible formalism for fermions. It is based on a decomposition of the two-particle vertex in charge, magnetic and pairing channels. The method treats single-particle and collective excitations in all channels on equal footing, allows for the description of symmetry-breaking and captures collective mode fluctuation physics in the infrared. As a first application, we study the superfluid ground state of the two-dimensional attractive Hubba…
Anticipating realization of interacting fermions in an optical lattice with a large gauge field, we consider phase transitions and loop currents in a two-dimensional S=1/2 fermionic-Hubbard model with $π$/2-staggered flux at half filling. We use a variational Monte Carlo method, which is reliable even for strong correlations. As a trial wave function, a coexistent state of antifferomagnetic and staggered-flux orders is studied. In a strongly correlated regime, the ground state becomes an insulating coexistent state with loop currents. By comparing fermions with bosons, we discuss an important …
In this paper, we show how the two-particle Green function (2PGF) can be obtained within the framework of the Dual Fermion approach. This facilitates the calculation of the susceptibility in strongly correlated systems where long-ranged non-local correlations cannot be neglected. We formulate the Bethe-Salpeter equations for the full vertex in the particle-particle and particle-hole channels and introduce an approximation for practical calculations. The scheme is applied to the two-dimensional Hubbard model at half filling. The spin-spin susceptibility is found to strongly increase for the wav…
A new diagrammatic technique is developed to describe nonlocal effects (e.g., pseudogap formation) in the Hubbard-like models. In contrast to cluster approaches, this method utilizes an exact transition to the dual set of variables, and it therefore becomes possible to treat the irreducible vertices of an effective {\it single-impurity} problem as small parameters. This provides a very efficient interpolation between weak-coupling (band) and atomic limits. The antiferromagnetic pseudogap formation in the Hubbard model is correctly reproduced by just the lowest-order diagrams.
We apply the recently developed dual fermion algorithm for disordered interacting systems to the Anderson-Hubbard model. This algorithm is compared with dynamical cluster approximation calculations for a one-dimensional system to establish the quality of the approximation in comparison with an established cluster method. We continue with a three-dimensional (3d) system and look at the antiferromagnetic, Mott and Anderson localization transitions. The dual fermion approach leads to quantitative as well as qualitative improvement of the dynamical mean-field results and it allows one to calculate…
We investigate the Hubbard chains network model defined on corner-sharing tetrahedra (the pyrochlore lattice) which is a possible microscopic model for the heavy fermion state of LiV_2O_4. Based upon this model, we can explain transport, magnetic, and thermodynamic properties of LiV_2O_4. We calculate the spin susceptibility, and the specific heat coefficient, exploiting the Bethe ansatz exact solution of the 1D Hubbard model and bosonization method. The results are quite consistent with experimental observations. We obtain the large specific heat coefficient $γ\sim 222 {\rm mJ/mol K^2}$.
The importance of taking into account inter-site $f-f$ hybridization in electron structure calculations for Ce metal and cerium heavy fermion compounds was studied. We demonstrate that for heavy-fermion systems such as cerium compound CeCu$_2$Si$_2$ $f-f$ hybridization can be neglected and Anderson model application is well justified. On another hand for cerium metal $f-f$ hybridization is strong enough to provide the contribution to hybridization function comparable to hybridization between $4f$ and itinerant electrons. We argue that in the case of Ce only the most general Hamiltonian combini…
Using the Dynamical Cluster Approximation (DCA) we calculate the alternating circulating-current susceptibility and investigate the transition to the d-density wave (DDW) order in the two-dimensional Hubbard model. The 2 x 2 cluster used in the DCA calculation is the smallest that can capture d-wave order; therefore, due to the mean-field character of our calculation, we expect to overestimate d-wave transition temperatures. Despite this, we found no transition to the DDW state. In the pseudogap region the DDW susceptibility is enhanced, as predicted by the slave boson SU(2) theory, but it sti…
We investigate the interplay between geometrical frustration and strong electron correlation based upon the pyrochlore Hubbard model. In the half-filling case, using the perturbative expansion in terms of electron correlation, we show that the self-energy shows a divergent behavior leading the system into the Mott insulating state, in which quantum disordered spin liquid without magnetic long-range order realizes. In the hole-doped case, we obtain heavy-fermion-like Fermi liquid state. We also calculate the neutron cross section which is well consistent with recent neutron scattering experimen…
A new representation for electrons is introduced, in which the electron operators are written in terms of a spinless fermion and the Pauli operators. This representation is canonical, invertible and constraint-free. Importantly, it simplifies the Hubbard interaction. On a bipartite lattice, the Hubbard model is reduced to a form in which the exchange interaction emerges simply by decoupling the Pauli subsystem from the spinless fermion bath. This exchange correctly reproduces the large $U$ superexchange. Also derived, for $U=\pm\infty$, is the Hamiltonian to study Nagaoka ferromagnetism. In th…
Ultracold atoms in optical lattice provides a platform to realize the superfluid (SF) state, a quantum order with paired charge-neutral fermions. In this paper, we studied SF state in the twodimensional attractive Hubbard model with pi-flux on each plaquette. The SF state in the pi-flux lattice model suffers very strong quantum fluctuations and the ground state becomes a possible quantum phase liquid state. In this phase, there exists the Cooper pairing together with a finite energy gap for the atoms, but no long range SF phase coherence exists at zero temperature. In addition, we discussed th…
We present ab initio results for the electron-phonon interaction of the Γ-point phonons in the tetragonal high-temperature phase of La2CuO4. Eigenfrequencies and eigenvectors for the symmetry-allowed phonon modes are calculated with the full-potential augmented plane wave+local orbitals method using the frozen phonon approach. It is found that the Γ-point phonons with the strongest electron-phonon interaction are the A{2u} modes with 236 cm^{-1}, 131 cm^{-1} and 476 cm^{-1}. To take effect of strong electron on-site interaction into account we use generalized tight-binding method that results …
We present key issues of related phenomenons of the Ferroelectricity and the Charge Disproportionation in organic metals. In (TMTTF_2X the dielectric susceptibility demonstrates clear cases of the ferroelectric and anti-ferroelectric phase transitions. Both the susceptibility and the conductivity prove independence and occasional coexistence of "structurless" ferroelectric transitions and usual "anionic" ones. Their sequence gives access to physics of three types of solitons emerging upon cooling via several steps of symmetry breaking. The theory invokes a concept of the Combined Mott-Hubbard …
We present an efficient diagrammatic method to describe nonlocal correlation effects in lattice fermion Hubbard-like models, which is based on a change of variables in the Grassmann path integrals. The new fermions are dual to the original ones and correspond to weakly interacting quasiparticles in the case of strong local correlations in the Hubbard model. The method starts with dynamical mean-field theory as a zeroth-order approximation and includes non-local effects in a perturbative way. In contrast to cluster approaches, this method utilizes an exact transition to a dual set of variables.…
We investigate the 1D Anderson-Hubbard model at half filling with box-disorder. The ground state phase diagram is obtained by means of real-space dynamical mean-field theory (R-DMFT) and the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG). We find Mott insulating and Anderson localized regimes as well as a strong indication of a delocalized phase for intermediate interaction and disorder strength within accessible system sizes. These phases are characterized and distinguished by qualitatively different scaling behavior of the local density of states, the energy gap in the excitation spectrum and t…
The effect of the strong intersite Coulomb correlations on the formation of the electron structure of the t-V-model has been studied. A qualitatively new result has been obtained which consists in the occurrence of a split-off band of the Fermi states. The spectral intensity of this band increases with the enhancement of a doping level and is determined by the mean-square fluctuation of the occupation numbers. This leads to the qualitative change in the structure of the electron density of states.
We investigate the two-orbital Hubbard model in infinite dimensions by means of the self-energy functional method. By calculating the entropy, susceptibility, and quasi-particle weight at zero temperature, we determine the phase diagram for the system with same and different bandwidths, which is compared with that obtained recently. It is clarified that orbital fluctuations play a key role in controlling the nature of the Mott transitions in the system.
We apply the dual fermion approach with a second-order approximation to the self-energy to the Mott transition in the two-dimensional Hubbard model. The approximation captures nonlocal dynamical short-range correlations as well as several features observed in studies using cluster dynamical mean-field theory. This includes a strong reduction of the critical interaction and inversion of the slope of the transition lines with respect to single-site dynamical mean-field theory. We show that these effects coincide with a much smaller momentum differentiation compared to cluster methods. We further…
At temperatures above the superconducting transition temperature the pairfield susceptibility provides information on the nature of the pairfield fluctuations. Here we study the d-wave pairfield susceptibility of a 2D Hubbard model for dopings which have a pseudogap (PG) and for dopings which do not. One knows that in both cases there will be a region of Kosterlitz-Thouless fluctuations as the transition at $T_{KT}$ is approached. Above this region we find evidence for Emery-Kivelson phase fluctuations for dopings with a PG and Gaussian amplitude fluctuations for dopings without a PG.
In the framework of the diagrammatic method with self-consistent field, the maximum on the temperature dependence of the susceptibility of a weakly doped narrow-band Hubbard magnet below the Curie temperature $T_{\rm C}$ is predicted. By numerical calculations, it is proved that it appears at small hole concentrations $n_{h}$. In this case, the temperature dependence of the magnetization $M$($T$) has a typical Fermi-like shape with the point of inflection at a temperature $T_{\rm inf}$. The approximate solution of the system of equations for the mean spin and the chemical potential gives the S…
Dynamic spin susceptibility is calculated for the t-J model in the paramagnetic phase by applying the memory function method in terms of the Hubbard operators. A self-consistent system of equations for the memory function is obtained within the mode coupling approximation. Both itinerant hole excitations and localized spin fluctuations give contributions to the memory function. Spin dynamics have a diffusive character in the hydrodynamic limit; spin-wave-like excitations are regained in the high-frequency region.
We suggest that box shape trap enables to observe intrinsic properties of the repulsive Hubbard model in a fixed doping in contrast to the harmonic trap bringing about spatial variations of atom density profiles. In order to predict atomic density profile under the box trap, we apply the directly-extended density-matrix renormalization group method to 4-leg repulsive Hubbard model with the open boundary condition. Consequently, we find that stripe formation is universal in a low hole doping range and the stripe sensitively changes its structure with variations of $U/t$ and the doping rate. A r…
A microscopic theory for electronic spectrum of the CuO2 plane within an effective p-d Hubbard model is proposed. Dyson equation for the one-electron Green function in terms of the Hubbard operators is derived which is solved self-consistently for the self-energy evaluated in the noncrossing approximation. Electron scattering on spin fluctuations induced by kinematical interaction is described by a model dynamical spin susceptibility. Doping and temperature dependence of electron dispersions, spectral functions, the Fermi surface and the coupling constant are studied.
Magnetic and charge susceptibilities of the two-dimensional repulsive Hubbard model are investigated applying a strong coupling diagram technique in which the expansion in powers of the hopping constants is used. For small lattices and high temperatures results are in agreement with Monte Carlo simulations. With the departure from half-filling $x$ the low-frequency magnetic susceptibility becomes incommensurate and the incommensurability parameter grows with $x$. The incommensurability, its dependence on frequency and on $x$ resemble experimental results in lanthanum cuprates. Also for finite …
We apply the boson exchange parquet solver for dual fermions to the half-filled Hubbard model on a square lattice at small interaction. Our results establish that, in this regime, nonlocal vertex corrections play an important role in the formation of the pseudogap. Namely, in comparison to the simpler ladder approximation, these additional vertex corrections included in the parquet equations enhance the coupling of spin fluctuations with the quasiparticles. The pseudogap thus opens already at a higher temperature, in quantitative agreement with the numerically exact diagrammatic Monte Carlo. T…
We perform a comparative study of the finite temperature behavior of ultracold Bose atoms in optical lattices by the slave fermion and the slave boson approaches to the Bose Hubbard model. The phase diagram of the system is presented. Although both approaches are equivalent without approximations, the mean field theory based on the slave fermion technique is quantitatively more appropriate. Conceptually, the slave fermion approach automatically excludes the double occupancy of two identical fermions on the same lattice site. By comparing to known results in limiting cases, we find the slave fe…
We propose the two-leg fermion-ladder models for SU(2|2) and SU(4) cases. The former is exactly the extended Hubbard model proposed by Essler, Korepin and Schoutens. The later is a new model also with $η$-pairing symmetry which is important for superconductivity. This new extension of the Hubbard model can be solved exactly.
The Hubbard model is used to study an electronic system at half filling. Starting from a functional integral representation the spin-up Grassmann field is integrated out. It is shown that the resulting spinless fermion theory has an instantaneous cluster interaction, and that the spinless fermions are coupled to thermally fluctuating Ising spins. The coupling parameter of the spinless fermion interaction is a product of the Hubbard interaction and the hopping rate. As an example the strongly metallic as well as the strongly insulating regime are investigated in terms of the effective Ising sta…
The mass-imbalanced Hubbard model represents a continuous evolution from the Hubbard to the Falicov-Kimball model. We employ dynamical mean field theory and study the paramagnetic metal-insulator transition, which has a very different nature for the two limiting models. Our results indicate that the metal-insulator transition rather resembles that of the Hubbard model as soon as a tiny hopping between the more localized fermions is switched on. At low temperatures we observe a first-order metal-insulator transition and a three peak structure. The width of the central peak is the same for the m…
We study the Hubbard model on the honeycomb lattice in the vicinity of the quantum critical point by means of a multiband formulation of the Dual Fermion approach. Beyond the strong local correlations of the dynamical mean field, critical fluctuations on all length scales are included by means of a ladder diagram summation. Analysis of the susceptibility yields an estimate of the critical interaction strength of the quantum phase transition from a paramagnetic semimetal to an antiferromagnetic insulator, in good agreement to other numerical methods. We further estimate the crossover temperatur…
The hopping dynamics of two fermionic species with different effective masses in the one-dimensional Hubbard model driven by an external field is theoretically investigated. A multiple-time-scale asymptotic analysis of the driven asymmetric Hubbard model shows that a high-frequency bichromatic external field can sustain a new kind of low-energy particle bound state (doublon), in which two fermions of different species occupy nearest neighbor sites and co-tunnel along the lattice. The predictions of the asymptotic analysis are confirmed by direct numerical simulations of the two-particle Hubbar…
We introduce a mean-field and perturbative approach, based on clusters, to describe the ground state of fermionic strongly-correlated systems. In cluster mean-field, the ground state wavefunction is written as a simple tensor product over optimized cluster states. The optimization of the single-particle basis where the cluster mean-field is expressed is crucial in order to obtain high-quality results. The mean-field nature of the ansatz allows us to formulate a perturbative approach to account for inter-cluster correlations; other traditional many-body strategies can be easily devised in terms…
We formulate a multi-band generalisation of the time-dependent Gutzwiller theory. This approach allows for the calculation of general two-particle response functions, which are crucial for an understanding of various experiments in solid-state physics. As a first application, we study the momentum- and frequency-resolved magnetic susceptibility in a two-band Hubbard model. Like in the underlying ground-state approaches we find significant differences between the results of our method and those from a time-dependent Hartree-Fock approximation.
