We investigate transport through molecular wires whose energy levels are affected by environmental fluctuations. We assume that the relevant fluctuations are so slow that they, within a tight-binding description, can be described by disordered, Gaussian distributed onsite energies. For long wires, we find that the corresponding current distribution can be rather broad even for a small energy variance. Moreover, we analyse with a Floquet master equation the interplay of laser excitations and static disorder. Then the disorder leads to spatial asymmetries such that the laser diving can induce a ratchet current.
Majorana Josephson junctions in nanowire systems exhibit a pseudo-$4π$ period current-phase relation in the clean limit. In this work, we study how this current-phase relation responds to a tilted magnetic field in a disordered Majorana Josephson junction within the Bogoliubov-de Gennes approach. We show that the tilted magnetic field induces a $ϕ_0$ phase shift to the current-phase relation. Most importantly, we find that this $ϕ_0$-junction behavior is robust even in the presence of disorders.
General multi-channel SN junctions fall into two topological classes depending on whether or not there is a Majorana mode localized at the junction. This is known to lead to different behaviour of the conductance in the presence of arbitrary disorder near the junction. We discuss these topological properties from two perspectives, one based on representing the disorder by a scattering matrix in series with that of a clean SN junction and one based on low energy field theory methods. The first approach is used to discuss the effect of an Ohmic contact between a quantum wire and a three dimensio…
We simulate one-dimensional arrays of tunnel junctions using the kinetic Monte Carlo method to study charge filling behaviour in the large charging energy limit. By applying a small fixed voltage bias and varying the offset voltage, we investigate this behaviour in clean and disordered arrays (both weak and strong disorder effects). The offset voltage dependent modulation of the current is highly sensitive to background charge disorder and exhibits substantial variation depending on the strength of the disorder. We show that while small fractional charge filling factors are likely to be washed…
We investigate the electron transport through a graphene p-n junction under a perpendicular magnetic field. By using Landauar-Buttiker formalism combining with the non-equilibrium Green function method, the conductance is studied for the clean and disordered samples. For the clean p-n junction, the conductance is quite small. In the presence of disorders, it is strongly enhanced and exhibits plateau structure at suitable range of disorders. Our numerical results show that the lowest plateau can survive for a very broad range of disorder strength, but the existence of high plateaus depends on s…
We calculate the Josephson coupling energy $U_J(ϕ)$ (related to the supercurrent $I=(2e/\hbar) dU_J/dϕ$) for a disordered normal metal between two superconductors with a phase difference $ϕ$. We demonstrate that the symmetry of the scattering matrix of non-interacting quasiparticles in zero magnetic field implies that $U_J(ϕ)$ has a minimum at $ϕ=0$. A maximum (that would lead to a $π$-junction or negative superfluid density) is excluded for any realization of the disorder.
The quantum Hall effect in graphene p-n junctions is studied numerically with emphasis on the effect of disorder at the interface of two adjacent regions. Conductance plateaus are found to be attached to the intensity of the disorder, and are accompanied by universal conductance fluctuations in the bipolar regime, which is in good agreement with theoretical predictions of the random matrix theory on quantum chaotic cavities. The calculated Fano factors can be used in an experimental identification of the underlying transport character.
We study the electron transport through the graphene PNP junction under a magnetic field and show that modes mixing plays an essential role. By using the non-equilibrium Green's function method, the space distribution of the scattering state for a specific incident modes as well the elements of the transmission and reflection coefficient matrixes are investigated. All elements of the transmission (reflection) coefficient matrixes are very different for a perfect PNP junction, but they are same at a disordered junction due to the mode mixing. The space distribution of the scattering state for t…
The longitudinal resistances of a six-terminal graphene p-n junction under a perpendicular magnetic field are investigated. Because of the chirality of the Hall edge states, the longitudinal resistances on top and bottom edges of the graphene ribbon are not equal. In the presence of suitable disorder, the top-edge and bottom-edge resistances well show the plateau structures in the both unipolar and bipolar regimes and the plateau values are determined by the Landau filling factors only. These plateau structures are in excellent agreement with the recent experiment. For the unipolar junction, t…
It is known that Josephson junction (JJ) hosting scattering centers with energy-dependent scattering amplitudes which breaks the $ω\rightarrow-ω$ symmetry (where $ω$ is the excitation energy of electron about the Fermi level) exhibits finite thermoelectric response. In contrast, here we show that even in a ballistic JJ this symmetry is broken and it leads to a non-zero thermoelectric response when the junction length is of the order of coherence length of the superconductor and the corresponding thermoelectric coefficient confirms to the universal sinusoidal dependence on $ϕ_{12}$, where $ϕ_{1…
We study the properties of the normal modes of a chain of Josephson junctions in the simultaneous presence of disorder and absorption. We consider the superconducting regime of small phase fluctuations and focus on the case where the effects of disorder and absorption can be treated additively. We analyze the frequency shift and the localization length of the modes. We also calculate the distribution of the frequency-dependent impedance of the chain. The distribution is Gaussian if the localization length is long compared to the absorption length; it has a power law tail in the opposite limit.
Disorder in a proximitizing bulk superconductor can scatter quasiparticles in a putative topological superconductor and eventually destroy the topological superconducting state. We use a scattering approach and a random-matrix calculation to estimate the disorder scattering time in a topological Josephson junction. We find that the disorder scattering rate from the bulk of the superconductor, even in the strong coupling limit, is suppressed in the ratio of Fermi momenta between the semiconductor and superconductor. This suppression of disorder scattering is accompanied by near perfect Andreev …
We consider a chain of Josephson-junction rhombi (proposed originally by Doucot and Vidal) in quantum regime. In a regular chain with no disorder in the maximally frustrated case when magnetic flux through each rhombi Φ_r is equal to one half of superconductive flux quantum Φ_0, Josephson current is due to correlated transport of pairs of Cooper pairs, i.e. charge is quantized in units of $4e$. Sufficiently strong deviation δΦ=|Φ_r-Φ_0/2| > δΦ^c from the maximally frustrated point brings the system back to usual $2e$-quantized supercurrent. For a regular chain δΦ^c was calculated by us previou…
We study the Josephson current in a junction comprising two superconductors linked by a strong ferromagnet in presence of impurities. We focus on a regime where the electron (and hole) motion is ballistic over the exchange length and diffusive on the scale of the weak link length. The current-phase relation is obtained for both two- and three dimensional ferromagnetic weak links. In the clean limit, the possibility of temperature-induced 0- transitions is demonstrated while the corresponding critical current versus temperature dependences are also studied.
We study current correlation functions in a diffusive junction out of equilibrium. We calculate corrections to the electric current and to the zero frequency shot noise due to electron-electron interactions. Contrary to the equilibrium situation (where the corrections to the current and to the current noise are related through the fluctuation-dissipation theorem (FDT)), these two quantities behave differently: the correction to the electron current are governed by the largest of temperature and applied voltage, while the correction to the shot noise is always governed by the temperature. PACS …
Structural disorder is present in almost all experimental measurements of electronic transport through single molecules or molecular wires. To assess its influence on the conductance is computationally demanding, because a large number of conformations must be considered. Here we analyze an approximate recursive layer Green function approach for the ballistic transport through quasi one-dimensional nano-junctions. We find a rapid convergence of the method with its control parameter, the layer thickness, and good agreement with existing experimental and theoretical data. Because the computation…
The interaction between electronic and vibrational degrees of freedom in single-molecule junctions may result from the dependence of the electronic energies or the electronic states of the molecular bridge on the nuclear displacement. The latter mechanism leads to a direct coupling between different electronic states and is referred to as nonadiabatic electronic-vibrational coupling. Employing a perturbative nonequilibrium Green's function approach, we study the influence of nonadiabatic electronic-vibrational coupling in model molecular junctions. Thereby we distinguish between systems with w…
The energy and charge fluxes carried by electrons in a two-terminal junction subjected to a random telegraph noise, produced by a single electronic defect, are analyzed. The telegraph processes are imitated by the action of a stochastic electric field that acts on the electrons in the junction. Upon averaging over all random events of the telegraph process, it is found that this electric field supplies, on the average, energy to the electronic reservoirs, which is distributed unequally between them: the stronger is the coupling of the reservoir with the junction, the more energy it gains. Thus…
The interaction between electronic and nuclear degrees of freedom in single-molecule junctions is an essential mechanism, which may result in the current-induced rupture of chemical bonds. As such, it is fundamental for the stability of molecular junctions and for the applicability of molecular electronic devices. In this publication, we study current-induced bond rupture in molecular junctions using a numerically exact scheme, which is based on the hierarchical quantum master equation (HQME) method in combination with a discrete variable representation for the nuclear degrees of freedom. Empl…
Nano-junctions, containing atomic-scale gold contacts between strongly disordered leads, exhibit different transport properties at room temperature and at low temperature. At room temperature, the nano-junctions exhibit conductance quantization effects. At low temperatures, the contacts exhibit Coulomb-Blockade. We show that the differences between the room-temperature and low temperature properties arise from the localization of electronic states in the leads. The charging energy and capacitance of the nano-junctions exhibit strong fluctuations with applied magnetic field at low temperature, …
The influence of multiple vibrational modes on current fluctuations in electron transport through single-molecule junctions is investigated. Our analysis is based on a generic model of a molecular junction, which comprises a single electronic state on the molecular bridge coupled to multiple vibrational modes and fermionic leads, and employs a master equation approach. The results reveal that in molecular junctions with multiple vibrational modes already weak to moderate electronic-vibrational coupling may result in high noise levels, especially at the onset of resonant transport, in accordanc…
We have generalized the scattering-matrix theory of multiple Andreev reflections in mesoscopic Josephson junctions to the multi-mode case, and applied it to short superconductor/normal metal/superconductor junctions with diffusive electron transport. Both the dc and ac current-voltage characteristics are analyzed for a wide range of bias voltages $V$. For voltages smaller than the supeconducting gap the dc differential conductance of the junction diverges as $1/\sqrt{V}$.
Electromigrated nanoscale junctions have proven very useful for studying electronic transport at the single-molecule scale. However, confirming that conduction is through precisely the molecule of interest and not some contaminant or metal nanoparticle has remained a persistent challenge, typically requiring a statistical analysis of many devices. We review how transport mechanisms in both purely electronic and optical measurements can be used to infer information about the nanoscale junction configuration. The electronic response to optical excitation is particularly revealing. We briefly dis…
Electronic Whispering Gallery Modes (EWGMs) have been recently observed in several circular graphene junctions, pn and pp0, created in scanning tunnelling microscope experiments. By computing the local density of states within the Dirac-Weyl formalism for massless fermions we demonstrate that the EWGMs may really be emerged in any type of the electrostatic potential induced circular graphene junctions, including uni-junctions (e.g. np- or pp0-junctions) as well as bipolar-junctions (e.g. pnp-heterojunctions). Surprisingly, quantitative analyses show that for all the EWGMs identified (regardles…
Fractionalization is a phenomenon where an elementary excitation partitions into several pieces. This picture explains non-trivial transport through a junction of one-dimensional edge channels defined by topologically distinct quantum Hall states, for example, a hole-conjugate state at Landau-level filling factor $ν$ = 2/3. Here we employ a time-resolved scheme to identify an elementary fractionalization process; injection of charge q from a non-interaction region into an interacting and scattering region of one-dimensional channels results in the formation of a collective excitation with char…
We report a first principles formalism and its numerical implementation for treating quantum transport properties of nanoelectronic devices with atomistic disorder. We developed a nonequilibrium vertex correction (NVC) theory to handle the configurational average of random disorder at the density matrix level so that disorder effects to nonlinear and nonequilibrium quantum transport can be calculated from atomic first principles in a self-consistent and efficient manner. We implemented the NVC into a Keldysh non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF) based density functional theory (DFT) and appl…
Current noise in superconductor-normal metal-superconductor (SNS) junctions is calculated within the scattering theory of multiple Andreev reflections (MAR). It is shown that the noise exhibits subharmonic gap singularities at $eV=2Δ/n$, $n=1,2,... $ both in single-mode junctions with arbitrary transparency $D$ and in multi-mode disordered junctions. The subharmonic structure is superimposed with monotonic increase of the effective transferred charge $q^*=S_I(0)/2I$ with decreasing bias voltage. Other features of the noise include a step-like increase of $q^*$ in junctions with small $D$, and …
The exact ground-state exchange-correlation functional of Kohn-Sham density functional theory yields the exact transmission through an Anderson junction at zero bias and temperature. The exact impurity charge susceptibility is used to construct the exact exchange-correlation potential. We analyze the successes and limitations of various types of approximations, including smooth and discontinuous functionals of the occupation, as well as symmetry-broken approaches.
We report a thorough theoretical investigation on the quantum transport of a disordered four terminal device in the presence of Rashba spin orbit coupling (RSOC) in two dimensions. Specifically we compute the behaviour of the longitudinal (charge) conductance, spin Hall conductance and spin Hall conductance fluctuation as a function of the strength of disorder and Rashba spin orbit interaction using the Landauer Buttiker formalism via Green's function technique. Our numerical calculations reveal that both the conductances diminish with disorder. At smaller values of the RSOC parameter, the lon…
Using a model comprising a 2-level bridge connecting free electron reservoirs we show that coupling of a molecular bridge to electron-hole excitations in the leads can markedly effect the source-drain current through a molecular junction. In some cases, e.g. molecules that exhibit strong charge transfer transitions, the contribution from electron-hole excitations can exceed the Landauer elastic current and dominate the observed conduction.
We investigate the induced superconducting pair correlations in junctions between a conventional spin-singlet $s$-wave superconductor and a disordered normal metal. Decomposing the pair amplitude based on its symmetries in the time domain, we demonstrate that the odd-time, or equivalently odd-frequency, spin-singlet $p$-wave correlations are both significant in size and entirely robust against random non-magnetic disorder. We find that these odd-frequency correlations can even be generated by disorder. Our results show that anisotropic odd-frequency pairing represent an important fraction of t…
We present a method for obtaining quantum transport properties in graphene that uniquely combines three crucial features: microscopic treatment of charge disorder, fully quantum mechanical analysis of transport, and the ability to model experimentally relevant system sizes. As a pertinent application we study the disorder dependence of Klein tunneling dominated transport in p-n-p junctions. Both the resistance and the Fano factor show broad resonance peaks due to the presence of quasi bound states. This feature is washed out by the disorder when the mean free path becomes of the order of the d…
We study a diffusive superconductor - normal metal - superconductor (SNS) junction in an external magnetic field. In the limit of a long junction, we find that the form of the dependence of the Josephson current on the field and on the length of the junction depends on the ratio between the junction width and the length associated with the magnetic field. A certain critical ratio between these two length scales separates two different regimes. In narrow junctions, the critical current exhibits a pure decay as a function of the junction length or of the magnetic field. In wide junctions, the cr…
We use simultaneous electronic transport and optical characterization measurements to reveal new information about electronic and optical processes in nanoscale junctions fabricated by electromigration. Comparing electronic tunneling and photocurrents allows us to infer the optical frequency potential difference produced by the plasmon response of the junction. Together with the measured tunneling conductance, we can then determine the locally enhanced electric field within the junction. In similar structures containing molecules, anti-Stokes and Stokes Raman emission allow us to infer the eff…
We investigate the conductance of normal-conductor/graphene/normal-conductor (NGN) junctions for arbitrary on-site potentials in the normal and graphitic parts of the system. We find that a ballistic NGN junction can display insulating behavior even when the charge-carrier density in the graphene part is finite. This effect originates in the different k intervals supporting propagating modes in graphene and a normal conductor, and persists for moderate levels of bulk, edge, or interface disorder. The ensuing conductance thresholds could be used as an electronic tool to map out details of the g…
We propose to correlate transmittance maps and spectral-density maps of planar junctions, in order to analyze quantitatively and in detail spin-dependent transport calculations. Since spectral-density maps can be resolved with respect to atom, angular momentum, and spin, the resulting correlation coefficients reveal unequivocally, e.g., which layers or which orbitals determine the tunnel conductances. Our method can be used for transport calculations within the Landauer-Büttiker formalism. Its properties and features will be discussed by means of a pure bcc Fe(001) lead as well as an extensive…
We carry out a layer-by-layer investigation to understand electron transport across metal-insulator-metal junctions. Interfacial structures of junctions were studied and characterized using first-principles density functional theory within the generalized gradient approximation. We found that as a function of the number of crystal layers the calculated transmission coefficients of multilayer silicene junctions decay much slower than for BN-based junctions We revisited the semiclassical Boltzmann theory of electronic transport and applied to multilayer silicene and BN-based junctions. The calcu…
Electronic conduction through single molecules is affected by the molecular electronic structure as well as by other information that is extremely difficult to assess, such as bonding geometry and chemical environment. The lack of an independent diagnostic technique has long hampered single-molecule conductance studies. We report simultaneous measurement of the conductance and the Raman spectra of nanoscale junctions used for single-molecule electronic experiments. Blinking and spectral diffusion in the Raman response of both para-mercaptoaniline and a fluorinated oligophenylyne ethynylene cor…
In a graphene {\em pn} junction at high magnetic field, unidirectional "snake states" are formed at the {\em pn} interface. In a clean {\em pn} junction, each snake state exists in one of the valleys of the graphene band structure, and the conductance of the junction as a whole is determined by microscopic details of the coupling between the snake states at the {\em pn} interface and quantum Hall edge states at the sample boundaries [Tworzydlo {\em et al.}, Phys. Rev. B {\bf 76}, 035411 (2007)]. Disorder mixes and couples the snake states. We here report a calculation of the full conductance d…
A tunnel junction between helical edge states, realized via a constriction in a Quantum Spin Hall system, can be exploited to steer both charge and spin current into various terminals. We investigate the effects of disorder on the transmission coefficient $T_p$ of the junction, by modelling disorder with a randomly varying (complex) tunneling amplitude $Γ_p=|Γ_p| \exp[i ϕ_p]$. We show that, while for a clean junction $T_p$ is only determined by the absolute value $|Γ_p|$ and is independent of the phase $ϕ_p$, the situation can be quite different in the presence of disorder: phase fluctuations …
Fluctuations pose fundamental limitations in making sensitive measurements, yet at the same time, noise unravels properties that are inaccessible at the level of the averaged signal. In electronic devices, shot noise arises from the discrete nature of charge carriers and it increases linearly with the applied voltage according to the celebrated Schottky formula. Nonetheless, measurements of shot noise in atomic-scale junctions at high voltage reveal significant nonlinear (anomalous) behavior, which varies from sample to sample, and has no specific trend. Here, we provide a viable, unifying exp…
We study the electronic transport of heterojunctions made of chiral topological superconductors (TSCs) with $N$ chiral Majorana fermion modes and quantum Hall insulators (QHIs) with integer Chern number $C$. In the weak disorder regime, we show the two-terminal conductance $σ_{12}$ of a QHI-TSC-QHI junction is generically non-quantized, but obeys a certain distribution determined by $C$ and $N$, which is induced by random SO($N$) rotations of chiral Majorana fermion mode basis on the TSC edges. Oppositely, in the strong disorder regime, $σ_{12}$ tends to be a quantized value. We conclude with …
Understanding and controlling the flow of heat is a major challenge in nanoelectronics. When a junction is driven out of equilibrium by light or the flow of electric charge, the vibrational and electronic degrees of freedom are, in general, no longer described by a single temperature[1-6]. Moreover, characterizing the steady-state vibrational and electronic distributions {\it in situ} is extremely challenging. Here we show that surface-enhanced Raman emission may be used to determine the effective temperatures for both the vibrational modes and the flowing electrons in a biased metallic nanosc…
The accurate determination of electronic temperatures in metallic nanostructures is essential for many technological applications, like plasmon-enhanced catalysis or lithographic nanofabrication procedures. In this Letter we demonstrate that the electronic temperature can be accurately measured by the shape of the tunnel electroluminescence emission edge in tunnel plasmonic nanocavities, which follows a universal thermal distribution with the bias voltage as the chemical potential of the photon population. A significant deviation between electronic and lattice temperatures is found below 30 K …
We propose the theory of transport in a gate-tunable graphene p-n junction, in which the gradient of the carrier density is controlled by the gate voltage. Depending on this gradient and on the density of charged impurities, the junction resistance is dominated by either diffusive or ballistic contribution. We find the conditions for observing ballistic transport and show that in existing devices they are satisfied only marginally. We also simulate numerically the trajectories of charge carriers and illustrate challenges in realizing more delicate ballistic effects, such as Veselago lensing.
We investigate the electronic transport properties of a ferromagnet/normal/ferromagnet junction on the surface of a topological insulator with a gate voltage exerted on the normal segment. It is found that the conductance oscillates with the width of normal segment and gate voltage, and the maximum of conductance gradually decreases while the minimum of conductance approaches zero as the width increases. The conductance can be controlled by tuning the gate voltage like a spin field-effect transistor. It is found that the magnetoresistance ratio can be very large, and can also be negative owing…
Micro-refrigerators that operate in the sub-kelvin regime are a key device in quantum technology. A well-studied candidate, an electronic cooler using Normal metal - Insulator - Superconductor (NIS) tunnel junctions offers substantial performance and power. However, its superconducting electrodes are severely overheated due to exponential suppression of their thermal conductance towards low temperatures, and the cooler performs unsatisfactorily - especially in powerful devices needed for practical applications. We employ a second NIS cooling stage to thermalize the hot superconductor at the ba…
Nanoscale molecular-electronic devices and machines are emerging as promising functional elements, naturally flexible and efficient, for next generation technologies. A deeper understanding of carrier dynamics in molecular junctions is expected to benefit many fields of nanoelectronics and power-devices. We determine time-resolved charge current flowing at donor- acceptor interface in molecular junctions connected to metallic electrodes by means of quantum transport simulations. The current is induced by the interaction of the donor with a Gaussian-shape femtosecond laser pulse. Effects of the…
Spatial manipulation of current flow in graphene could be achieved through the use of a tilted pn junction. We show through numerical simulation that a pseudo-Hall effect (i.e. non-equilibrium charge and current density accumulating along one of the sides of a graphene ribbon) can be observed under these conditions. The tilt angle and the pn transition length are two key parameters in tuning the strength of this effect. This phenomenon can be explained using classical trajectory via ray analysis, and is therefore relatively robust against disorder. Lastly, we propose and simulate a three termi…
Vibrational nonequilibrium effects in charge transport through single-molecule junctions are investigated. Focusing on molecular bridges with multiple electronic states, it is shown that electronic-vibrational coupling triggers a variety of vibronic emission and absorption processes, which influence the conductance properties and mechanical stability of single-molecule junctions profoundly. Employing a master equation and a nonequilibrium Green's function approach, these processes are analyzed in detail for a generic model of a molecular junction and for benzenedibutanethiolate bound to gold e…
We present a theory of molecular motors based on the Ehrenfest dynamics for the nuclear coordinates and the adiabatic limit of the Kadanoff-Baym equations for the current-induced forces. Electron-electron interactions can be systematically included through many-body perturbation theory, making the nonequilibrium Green's functions formulation suitable for first-principles treatments of realistic junctions. The method is benchmarked against simulations via real-time Kadanoff-Baym equations, finding an excellent agreement. Results on a paradigmatic model of molecular motor show that correlations …
We have developed a device fabrication process to pattern graphene into nanostructures of arbitrary shape and control their electronic properties using local electrostatic gates. Electronic transport measurements have been used to characterize locally gated bipolar graphene $p$-$n$-$p$ junctions. We observe a series of fractional quantum Hall conductance plateaus at high magnetic fields as the local charge density is varied in the $p$ and $n$ regions. These fractional plateaus, originating from chiral edge states equilibration at the $p$-$n$ interfaces, exhibit sensitivity to inter-edge backsc…
The study explores perpendicular transport through macroscopically inhomogeneous three-dimensional disordered conductors using mesoscopic methods (real-space Green function technique in a two-probe measuring geometry). The nanoscale samples (containing $\sim1000$ atoms) are modeled by a tight-binding Hamiltonian on a simple cubic lattice where disorder is introduced in the on-site potential energy. I compute the transport properties of: disordered metallic junctions formed by concatenating two homogenous samples with different kinds of microscopic disorder, a single strongly disordered interfa…
In this communication, we numerically studied disordered quantum transport in a quantum anomalous Hall insulator-superconductor junction based on the effective edge model approach. In particular, we focus on the parameter regime with the free mean path due to elastic scattering much smaller than the sample size and discuss disordered transport behaviors in the presence of different numbers of chiral edge modes, as well as non-chiral metallic modes. Our numerical results demonstrate that the presence of multiple chiral edge modes or non-chiral metallic modes will lead to a strong Andreev conver…
The influence of vibrational motion on electron conduction through single molecules bound to metal electrodes is investigated employing first-principles electronic-structure calculations and projection-operator Green's function methods. Considering molecular junctions where a central phenyl ring is coupled via (alkane)thiol-bridges to gold electrodes, it is shown that -- depending on the distance between the electronic $π$-system and the metal -- electronic-vibrational coupling may result in pronounced vibrational substructures in the transmittance, a significantly reduced current as well as a…
Semiconductor-superconductor hybrid systems provide a promising platform for hosting unpaired Majorana fermions towards the realisation of fault-tolerant topological quantum computing. In this study, we employ the Keldysh Non-Equilibrium Green's function formalism to model quantum transport in normal-superconductor junctions. We analyze III-V semiconductor nanowire Josephson junctions (InAs/Nb) using a three-dimensional discrete lattice model described by the Bogolubov-de Gennes Hamiltonian in the tight-binding approximation, and compute the Andreev bound state spectrum and current-phase relat…
