In the framework of various Glauber-like models we compute several correlation observables in nuclear collisions at the SPS, RHIC, and LHC energies. We analyze fluctuations of the eccentricity of the fireball created in the collision, in particular the {variable-axes} harmonic moments $ε^\ast$, as well as the fluctuations of multiplicity of charged particles. We find moderate model dependence of the scaled standard deviation $σ(ε^\ast)/ε^\ast$ on the choice of the particular Glauber model. For all considered models the values of $σ(ε^\ast)/ε^\ast$ range from $\sim$~0.5 for central collisions to $\sim$~0.3-0.4 for peripheral collisions. The results are confronted to the recent measurement of the elliptic-flow fluctuations at RHIC. We also find that the dependence of multiplicity fluctuations on the centrality of the collision is too weak to explain the measurements at the SPS energies. The magnitude of the Glauber multiplicity fluctuations increases by about 20% from the RHIC to LHC energies.
Event-by-event fluctuations of observables are often modeled using the Monte Carlo Glauber model, in which the energy is initially deposited in sources associated with wounded nucleons. In this paper, we analyze in detail the correlations between these sources in proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions. There are correlations arising from nucleon-nucleon correlations within each nucleus, and correlations due to the collision mechanism, which we dub twin correlations. We investigate this new phenomenon in detail. At the RHIC and LHC energies, correlations are found to have modest effects …
Glauber models are used to calculate geometric quantities in the initial state of heavy ion collisions, such as impact parameter, number of participating nucleons and initial eccentricity. Experimental heavy-ion collaboration, in particular at RHIC and LHC, use Glauber Model calculations for various geometric observables. In this document, we describe the assumptions inherent to the approach, and provide an updated implementation (v2) of the Monte Carlo based Glauber Model calculation, which originally was used by the PHOBOS collaboration. The main improvement w.r.t. the earlier version (arXiv…

The approach to problem of nuclear shadowing based on Gribov Reggeon calculus is presented. Here the total cross section of $h A$ interaction is found in a parameter-free description, employing the new data on the gluon density of the Pomeron, measured with high precision at HERA, as input. The model is then applied for calculation of $J/ψ$ production in $d Au$ collisions at top RHIC energy. It is shown that the theoretical estimates are in a very good agreement with the PHENIX data, and further predictions for the $J/ψ$ suppression in $p Pb$ collisions at coming soon LHC are made.
This study aims to analyze the data on multiplicity distributions and Bose-Einstein correlations collected at the LHC by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations using a double-generalized Glauber-Lachs formula (D-GGL) and double-negative binomial distribution (D-NBD). From this investigation, it can be inferred that the D-GGL formula performs as effectively as the D-NBD. Moreover, our results show that the parameters estimated in multiplicity distributions (MD) (P(n)) are related to those contained in the BEC formula.
Reaction and elastic differential cross sections are calculated for light nuclei in the framework of the Glauber theory. The optical phase-shift function is evaluated by Monte Carlo integration. This enables us to use the most accurate wave functions and calculate the phase-shift functions without approximation. Examples of proton nucleus (e.g. p-$^6$He, p-$^6$Li) and nucleus-nucleus (e.g. $^6$He$-^{12}$C) scatterings illustrate the effectiveness of the method. This approach gives us a possibility of a more stringent analysis of the high-energy reactions of halo nuclei.

A Monte Carlo model, initially developed for soft pp and AA collisions at high energy, is applied for proton-lead interaction at the LHC energy. Elementary collisions are implemented at the partonic level and do not involve the usual Glauber supposition of independent nucleon-nucleon collisions. The average number of participating nucleons and charged multiplicity in p-Pb collisions were calculated and compared with the predictions of Glauber model and experimental data. It was demonstrated that taking into account the energy conservation results in the number of participating nucleons conside…
The two component Monte-Carlo Glauber model predicts a knee-like structure in the centrality dependence of elliptic flow $v_2$ in Uranium+Uranium collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=193$ GeV. It also produces a strong anti-correlation between $v_2$ and $dN_{ch}/dy$ in the case of top ZDC events. However, none of these features have been observed in data. We address these discrepancies by including the effect of nucleon shadowing to the two component Monte-Carlo Glauber model. Apart from addressing successfully the above issues, we find that the nucleon shadow suppresses the event by event fluctuation…
In hydrodynamicalmodeling of heavy-ion collisions the initial state spatial anisotropies translate into momentum anisotropies of the final state particle distributions. Thus, understanding the origin of the initial anisotropies and quantifying their uncertainties is important for the extraction of specific QCD matter properties, such as viscosity, from the experimental data. In this work we study the wounded nucleon approach in the Monte Carlo Glauber model framework, focusing especially on the uncertainties which arise from the modeling of the nucleon-nucleon interactions between the collidin…
In hydrodynamical modeling of heavy-ion collisions, the initial-state spatial anisotropies are translated into momentum anisotropies of the final-state particle distributions. Thus, understanding the origin of the initial-state anisotropies and their uncertainties is important before extracting specific QCD matter properties, such as viscosity, from the experimental data. In this work we review the wounded nucleon approach based on the Monte Carlo Glauber model, charting in particular the uncertainties arising from modeling of the nucleon-nucleon interactions between the colliding nucleon pair…
The transverse momentum spectra, elliptic flow and interferometry radii for Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC are calculated in relativistic viscous hydrodynamics. For Glauber model initial conditions, we find that the data can be described using a small value of shear viscosity eta/s=0.08. The viscosities and the equation of state are the same as used for RHIC energies.
We present predictions of the mean multiplicity yields for different centrality classes of Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 5.02$ TeV at the LHC, obtained using the Monte-Carlo Modified Glauber model (MGM) [1]. Contrary to generally used standard Glauber calculations, the MGM takes into account the energy conservation in the soft particles production. The only one efficient model parameter was tuned and fixed previously (k=0.35) by fitting the available data on multiplicity for all colliding systems up to RHIC energies. The MGM has shown already a good predictive capability for the yields at $\…
We study the initial conditions for Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=2.76$ TeV using the two component Monte-Carlo Glauber model with shadowing of the nucleons in the interior by the leading ones. The model parameters are fixed by comparing to the multiplicity data of p+Pb and Pb+Pb at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=5.02$ and $2.76$ TeV respectively. We then compute the centrality dependence of the eccentricities upto the fourth order as well as their event by event distributions. The inclusion of shadowing brings the Monte-Carlo Glauber model predictions in agreement with data as well as with resul…
The charged-particle multiplicity distribution and the transverse-energy distribution measured in heavy-ion collisions at top RHIC and LHC energies are described using the two-component model approach based on a convolution of the Monte Carlo Glauber model with the Weibull model for particle production. The model successfully describes the multiplicity and transverse-energy distribution of minimum-bias collision data for a wide range of energies. The Weibull-Glauber model can be used to determine the centrality classes in heavy-ion collisions as an alternative to the conventional negative bino…
We study the effect of the nucleon meson cloud on predictions of the Monte Carlo Glauber wounded nucleon model for $AA$, $pA$, and $pp$ collisions. From the analysis of the data on the charged multiplicity density in $AA$ collisions we find that the meson-baryon Fock component reduces the required fraction of binary collisions by a factor of $\sim 2$ for Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s}=0.2$ TeV and $\sim 1.5$ for Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s}=2.76$ TeV. For central $AA$ collisions the meson cloud can increase the multiplicity density by $\sim 16-18$\%. We give predictions for the midrapidity cha…
We explore Glauber Monte Carlo predictions for the planned ultra-relativistic ${}^{16}{\rm O}$+${}^{16}{\rm O}$ and p+${}^{16}{\rm O}$ collisions, as well as for collisions of ${}^{16}{\rm O}$ on heavy targets. In particular, we present specific collective flow measures which are approximately independent on the hydrodynamic response of the system, such as the ratios of eccentricities obtained from cumulants with different numbers of particles, or correlations of ellipticity and triangularity described by the normalized symmetric cumulants. We use the state-of-the-art correlated nuclear distri…
Glauber models based on nucleon--nucleon interactions are commonly used to characterize the initial state in high-energy nuclear collisions, and the dependence of its properties on impact parameter or number of participating nucleons. In this paper, an extension to the Glauber model is presented, which accounts for an arbitrary number of effective sub-nucleon degrees of freedom, or active constituents, in the nucleons. Properties of the initial state, such as the number of constituent participants and collisions, as well as eccentricity and triangularity, are calculated and systematically comp…
We investigate the influence of the central two-body NN correlations on several quantities observed in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. It is demonstrated with explicit Monte Carlo simulations, that the basic correlation measures, such as the fluctuations of participant eccentricity, initial size fluctuations, or the fluctuations of the number of sources producing particles, are all sensitive to the inclusion of the two-body correlations. The effect is at the level of about 10-20%. Moreover, the realistic (Gaussian) correlation function gives indistinguishable results from the hard-core repu…
We present a systematic hydrodynamic study of the evolution of hadron spectra and their azimuthal anisotropy from the lowest collision energy studied at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), sqrt(s) = 7.7 A GeV, to the highest energy reachable at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), sqrt(s) = 5500 A GeV. The energy dependence of the flow observables are quantitatively studied for both the Monte-Carlo Glauber and Monte-Carlo Kharzeev-Levin-Nardi (MC-KLN) models. For MC-Glauber model initial conditions with η/s = 0.08, the differential charged hadron elliptic flow v_2^{ch}(p_T, sqrt(s)) is fou…
A parameterization of the nucleon-nucleon elastic scattering amplitude is needed for future experiments with nucleon and nuclear beams in the beam momentum range of 2 -- 50 GeV/c/nucleon. There are many parameterizations of the amplitude at $P_{lab} >$ 25--50 GeV/c, and at $P_{lab} \leq$ 5 GeV/c. Our paper is aimed to cover the range between 5 -- 50 GeV/c. The amplitude is used in Glauber calculations of various cross sections and Monte Carlo simulations of nucleon-nucleon scatterings. Usually, the differential nucleon-nucleon elastic scattering cross sections are described by an exponential e…
Recent data on the nuclear modification of W and Z boson production measured by the ATLAS collaboration in PbPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm nn}}=5.02$ TeV show an enhancement in peripheral collisions, seemingly contradicting predictions of the Glauber model. The data were previously explained by arguing that the nucleon-nucleon cross section may be shadowed in nucleus-nucleus collisions, and hence suppressed compared to the proton-proton cross section at the same collision energy. This interpretation has quite significant consequences for the understanding of heavy-ion data, in particular in t…
Monte Carlo evaluation is used to calculate heavy-ion elastic scattering including the center-of-mass correction and the Coulomb interaction.Angular distributions are presented for a number of nuclear pairs over a wide energy range using nucleon-nucleon scattering parameters taken from phase-shift analyses and densities from independent sources. A technique for the efficient expansion of the Glauber amplitude in partial waves is developed.
We review the signatures for the soft collective dynamics in highest-multiplicity ultrarelativistic p-Pb collisions and show that the effects are well described in a three-stage model, consisting of the event-by-event Glauber initial conditions, viscous 3+1D hydrodynamics, and statistical hadronization. In particular, we discuss the ridges in two-particle correlations in the relative azimuth and pseudorapidity, the elliptic and triangular flow coefficients, and the mass hierarchy of observables sensitive to flow.
We discuss multiplicity fluctuations of charged particles produced in nuclear collisions measured event-by-event by the NA49 experiment at CERN SPS within the Glauber Monte Carlo approach. We use the concepts of wounded nucleons and wounded quarks in the mechanism of multiparticle production to characterize multiplicity fluctuations expressed by the scaled variance of multiplicity distribution. Although Wounded Nucleon Model correctly reproduce the centrality dependence of the average multiplicity in Pb+Pb collisions, it completely fails in description of corresponding centrality dependence of…
We study, within the Monte-Carlo Glauber model, centrality dependence of the midrapidity charged multiplicity density $dN_{ch}/dη$ and of the anisotropy coefficients $\varepsilon_{2,3}$ in Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5.02$ TeV and in Xe+Xe collisions at $\sqrt{s}=5.44$ TeV. Calculations are performed for versions with and without nucleon meson cloud. The fraction of the binary collisions, $α$, has been fitted to the data on $dN_{ch}/dη$ in Pb+Pb collisions. We obtain $α\approx 0.09(0.13)$ with (without) meson cloud. The effect of meson cloud on the $dN_{ch}/dη$ is relatively small. For Xe+Xe…
The so called number of hadron-nucleus collisions n_coll(b) at impact parameter b, and its integral value N_coll, which are used to normalize the measured fractional cross section of a hard process, are calculated within the Glauber-Gribov theory including the effects of nucleon short-range correlations. The Gribov inelastic shadowing corrections are summed to all orders by employing the dipole representation. Numerical calculations are performed at the energies of the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We found that whereas the Gribov corrections …
This is a review of the theoretical background, experimental techniques, and phenomenology of what is called the "Glauber Model" in relativistic heavy ion physics. This model is used to calculate "geometric" quantities, which are typically expressed as impact parameter (b), number of participating nucleons (N_part) and number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions (N_coll). A brief history of the original Glauber model is presented, with emphasis on its development into the purely classical, geometric picture that is used for present-day data analyses. Distinctions are made between the "optical …
Recent studies reveal that at high energies, collisions of small system like $p+p$ gives signatures similar to that widely observed in heavy ion collisions hinting towards a possibility of forming a medium with collective behaviour. With this motivation, we have used the Glauber model, which is traditionally applied to heavy ion collisions, in small system using anisotropic and inhomogeneous density profile of proton and found that the proposed model reproduces the charged particle multiplicity distribution of $p+p$ collisions at LHC energies very well. Collision geometric properties like mean…
In the framework of the Glauber model as implemented in GLISSANDO 2, we study the fluctuations of flow harmonics in Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC centre-of-mass energy of 2.76 TeV. The model with wounded nucleons and the admixture of binary collisions leads to reasonable agreement for the ellipticity and triangularity fluctuations with the experimental data from the ATLAS, ALICE, and CMS collaborations, verifying the assumption that the initial eccentricity is approximately proportional to the harmonic flow of charged particles. While the agreement, in particular at the level of event-by-event d…
GLISSANDO is a Glauber Monte-Carlo generator for early-stages of relativistic heavy-ion collisions, written in c++ and interfaced to Root. Several models are implemented: the wounded-nucleon model, the binary collisions model, the mixed model, and the model with hot-spots. Subtleties of the distribution of nucleon in the nucleus are discussed. The original geometric distribution of sources in the transverse plane can be superimposed with a statistical distribution simulating the dispersion in the generated transverse energy in each individual collision. The program generates inter alia the fix…
Results from proton-proton ($pp$) collisions have routinely been used as a baseline to analyze and understand the production of QCD matter expected to be produced in nuclear collisions. But recent studies of small systems formed in $pp$ collisions at the LHC energies hint at the possibility of producing medium with collective behavior. Therefore, results from $pp$ collisions required more careful investigation to understand whether QCD matter is produced in high multiplicity $pp$ collisions. With this motivation, the Glauber model traditionally used to study the heavy-ion collision dynamics at…
We use an event-by-event hydrodynamical description of the heavy-ion collision process with Glauber initial conditions to calculate the thermal emission of photons. The photon rates in the hadronic phase follow from a spectral function approach and a density expansion, while in the partonic phase they follow from the AMY perturbative rates. The calculated photon elliptic flows are lower than those reported recently by both the ALICE and PHENIX collaborations.
We review the theoretical and experimental progress in the Glauber model of multiple nucleon and/or parton scatterings, after the last 10--15 years of operation with proton and nuclear beams at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and with various light and heavy colliding ions at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The main developments and the state-of-the-art of the field are summarized. These encompass measurements of the inclusive inelastic proton and nuclear cross sections, advances in the description of the proton and nuclear density profiles and their fluctuations, inclusio…
It is shown that a simultaneous comparison of both elliptic and triangular flow from (2+1)-dimensional viscous fluid dynamics with recent measurements in Pb+Pb collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) favors a small specific shear viscosity (eta/s)_QGP approximately equal to 1/(4pi) for the quark-gluon plasma. Using this viscosity value, the relative magnitude of the elliptic and triangular flow is well described with Monte-Carlo Glauber (MC-Glauber) initial conditions while Monte-Carlo Kharzeev-Levin-Nardi (MC-KLN) initial conditions require twice as large viscosity to reproduce the elli…
In nucleon-nucleon collisions, charged particle's multiplicity fluctuates. We have studied the effect of multiplicity fluctuation on flow harmonics in nucleus-nucleus collision in event-by-event hydrodynamics. Assuming that the charged particle's multiplicity fluctuations are governed by the negative binomial distribution, the Monte-Carlo Glauber model of initial condition is generalised to include the fluctuations. Explicit simulations with the generalised Monte-Carlo Glauber model initial conditions indicate that the multiplicity fluctuations do not have large effect on the flow harmonics.
Does the suppression shown at LHC in O-O collisions follow the systematics obtained for A-A collisions ?

In this talk we discuss several interesting aspects of collective flow in small systems in reference to planned future experiments. First, we bring in the novel possibility of exploring elliptic flow with heavy nuclei collisions on polarized deuteron targets, accessible in AFTER@LHC program after Long Shutdown 3. Then we pass to the Glauber model predictions for the presently considered ${}^{16}{\rm O}-{}^{16}{\rm O}$ program and RHIC and the LHC. Finally, we turn to our previous proposal concerning specific flow signatures of intrinsic correlations (such as the supposed $α$ clusterization) in…
We analyze data on multiplicity distributions (MD) at Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies using a double-negative binomial distribution (D-NBD) and double-generalized Glauber-Lachs formula (D-GGL). Moreover, we investigate the Bose-Einstein correlation (BEC) formulas based on these distributions and analyze the BEC data using the parameters obtained by analysis of MDs. From these analyses it can be inferred that the D-GGL formula performs as effectively as the D-NBD. Moreover, our results show that the parameters estimated in MD are related to those contained in the BEC formula.
The centrality dependence of the charged-particle multiplicity densities ($dN_{ch}/dη$) and transverse energy densities ($dE_{T}/dη$) are investigated using the two-component Glauber approach for broad range of energies in heavy ion collisions at RHIC and LHC. A comprehensive study shows that the data is well described within the framework of two component model which includes the contribution of "soft processes" and "hard processes" for different centrality classes and energies. The data at two different energies are compared by means of the ratio of $dN_{ch}/dη$ (and $dE_{T}/dη$) to see the …
Experiments with gold-gold collisions at RHIC have revealed (i) stronger suppression of charmonium production at forward rapidity than at midrapidity and (ii) the similarity between the suppression degrees at RHIC and SPS energies. To describe these findings we employ the model that includes nuclear shadowing effects, calculated within the Glauber-Gribov theory, rapidity-dependent absorptive mechanism, caused by energy-momentum conservation, and dissociation and recombination of the charmonium due to interaction with co-moving matter. The free parameters of the model are tuned and fixed by com…
We present an extended version of GLISSANDO, a Monte-Carlo generator for Glauber-like models of the initial stage of relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The increased functionality of the code incorporates a parametrization of shape of nuclei, including light nuclei needed in the NA61 experiment, the nuclear deformation, a possibility of using correlated distributions of nucleons in nuclei read from external files, an option of overlaying distributions of produced particles dependent on the space-time rapidity, the inclusion of the core-corona effect, or the output of the source distributions t…
In the framework of the classical Glauber approach, the analytical expressions for the variance of the number of wounded nucleons and binary collisions in AA interactions at a given centrality are presented. Along with the optical approximation term, they contain additional contact terms arising only in the case of nucleus-nucleus collisions. The magnitude of the additional contributions, e.g., for PbPb collisions at SPS energies, is larger than the contribution of the optical approximation at some values of the impact parameter. The sum of the additional contributions is in good agreement wit…
Using the newest data for pp scattering at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) combined with the Glauber model, we make hydrodynamic predictions for the soft hadronic observables planned to be measured in the forthcoming Pb+Pb collisions at 2.76 TeV.
We present ver. 3 of GLISSANDO, a versatile Monte-Carlo generator for Glauber-like models of the initial stages of ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The present version incorporates the wounded quark model, which is phenomenologically successful in reproducing multiplicities of particle production at RHIC and the LHC. Within this model, one can study the nucleon substructure fluctuation effects, recently explored in p-A collisions. In addition, the code includes the possibility of investigating collisions of light nuclei, such as $^{3}$He and $^{3}$H, or the $α$-clustered $^{7,9}$Be, $^…
We re-evaluate the nuclear suppression of forward $J/ψ$ production at high energy in the Color Glass Condensate framework. We use the collinear approximation for the projectile proton probed at large $x$ and an up to date dipole cross section fitted to HERA data to describe the target in proton-proton collisions. We show that using the Glauber approach to generalize the proton dipole cross section to the case of a nucleus target leads to a nuclear modification factor much closer to LHC data than previous estimates using the same framework.
In the framework of Color Glass Condensate, the pseudo-rapidity distributions of charged hadrons in pp and pA collisions at the LHC are studied with the UGD function from the GBW model. With a $χ^{2}$ analysis of the CMS data in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=0.9,~2.36,~7$ TeV, the normalization factor is obtained and the theoretical results are in good agreement with the perimental data. Then, considering the influence of nucleon hard partons distribution on the number of participants in pA collisions by a Glauber Monte Carlo method, we give the predictive results for the multiplicity distributio…
We study within the Monte Carlo Glauber model the influence of collective quantum effects in the Pb nucleus on the azimuthal anisotropy coefficients $ε_{2,3}$ in Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC energies. To account for the quantum effects, we modify the sampling of the nucleon positions by applying suitable filters that guarantee that the colliding nuclei have the mean squared quadrupole and octupole moments consistent with the ones extracted from the experimental quadrupole and octupole strength functions for the Pb nucleus with the help of the energy weighted sum rule. Our Monte Carlo Glauber mo…
We compute the jet path-length dependence of energy-loss for higher azimuthal harmonics of jet-fragments in a generalized model of energy-loss that can interpolate between pQCD and AdS/CFT limits and compare results with Glauber and CGC/KLN initial conditions. We find, however, that even the high-pT second moment is most sensitive to the poorly known early-time evolution during the first fm/c. Moreover, we demonstrate that quite generally the energy and density-dependence leads to an overquenching jet fragments relative to the first LHC $R_{AA}$-data, once the parameters of the energy-loss mod…
The aim of this work is to search for a new heavy Higgs boson in the B-L extension of the Standard Model at LHC using the data produced from simulated collisions between two protons at different center of mass energies by Monte Carlo event generator programs to find new Higgs boson signatures at the LHC. Also we study the production and decay channels for Higgs boson in this model and its interactions with the other new particles of this model namely the new neutral gauge massive boson and the new fermionic right-handed heavy neutrinos .
In the framework of soft-collinear effective theory with Glauber gluons, results and predictions for inclusive hadron suppression, based upon in-medium parton shower evolution, are presented for Au+Au and Pb+Pb collisions at RHIC and LHC energies $\sqrt{s}=200$ AGeV and $\sqrt{s}=2.76, \, 5.1$ ATeV, respectively. The $\rm SCET_G$ medium-induced splitting kernels are further implemented to evaluate the attenuation of reconstructed jet cross in such reactions and to examine their centrality and radius $R$ dependence. Building upon a previously developed method to systematically resum the jet sha…
We search for Z'B-L heavy neutral massive boson in dielectron events produced in proton-proton collisions at LHC using Monte Carlo simulation programs. To detect Z'B-L at LHC we used the data which is produced from pp collision of Pythia8 produced events at different energies for LHC then we use the angular distribution, invariant mass, combined transverse momentum and combined rapidity distributions for the dielectron produced from Z'B-L decay channel to detect Z'B-L signal. B-L extension of SM model predicts by existing Z'B-L heavy neutral massive boson at high energies and from our results …
The production and space-time evolution of charm and bottom quarks in nucleus-nucleus collisions at RHIC and LHC are investigated with the partonic transport model BAMPS (Boltzmann Approach of MultiParton Scatterings). Heavy quarks, produced in primary hard parton scatterings during nucleon-nucleon collisions, are sampled using the Monte Carlo event generator PYTHIA or the leading order mini-jet model in conjunction with the Glauber model, revealing a strong sensitivity on the parton distribution functions, scales, and heavy quark mass. In a comprehensive study exploring different charm masses…
Heavy neutrinos can be discovered at LHC. Many extensions for Standard Model predict by existing of new neutrino has a mass at high energies at LHC. B-L model one of them that predict by existence three heavy (right-handed) neutrinos one per generation, new gauge massive boson and new scalar Higgs boson rather than SM Higgs. In this work we search for heavy neutrino in 4 leptons + missing energy final state events produced in proton-proton collisions at LHC using data produced from Monte Carlo simulation for B-L model at different center of mass energies. We predict that the heavy neutrinos pa…
We present a systematic study on the influence of spatial correlations between the proton constituents, in our case gluonic hot spots, their size and their number on the symmetric cumulant SC(2,3), at the eccentricity level, within a Monte Carlo Glauber framework [1]. When modeling the proton as composed by 3 gluonic hot spots, the most common assumption in the literature, we find that the inclusion of spatial correlations is indispensable to reproduce the negative sign of SC(2,3) in the highest centrality bins as dictated by data. Further, the subtle interplay between the different scales of …
We study elliptic and triangular flow in the collisions of deuteron-gold nuclei at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 200$ GeV at RHIC and of proton-lead nuclei at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 5.02$ TeV at the LHC, utilizing (3+1)-dimensional ideal hydrodynamics for the dynamic evolution of the fireball and a Glauber-based Monte-Carlo energy deposition model for simulating the fluctuating initial conditions. Sizable values of elliptic and triangular flow are obtained for both colliding systems, and the results are consistent with PHENIX, ALICE, ATLAS and CMS measurements. For these studied centralities, we find tha…
A Monte Carlo model to simulate nuclear collisions in the energy range going from SPS to LHC, is presented. The model includes in its initial stage both soft and semihard components, which lead to the formation of color strings. Collectivity is taken into account considering the possibility of strings in color representations higher than triplet or antitriplet, by means of string fusion. String breaking leads to the production of secondaries. At this point, the model can be used as initial condition for further evolution by a transport model. In order to tune the parameters and see the results…
Multiplicity fluctuations at midrapidity in p+p collisions at high energies are described by a negative binomial distribution and exhibit approximate Koba-Nielsen-Olesen (KNO) scaling. We find that these KNO fluctuations are important also for reproducing the multiplicity distribution in d+Au collisions observed at RHIC, adding to the Glauber fluctuations of the number of binary collisions or participants. We predict that the multiplicity distribution in p+Pb collisions at the LHC also deviates little from the KNO scaling function. Finally, we analyze various moments of the eccentricity of the…
