At certain quantum critical points in metals an entire Fermi surface may disappear. A crucial question is the nature of the electronic excitations at the critical point. Here we provide arguments showing that at such quantum critical points the Fermi surface remains sharply defined even though the Landau quasiparticle is absent. The presence of such a critical Fermi surface has a number of consequences for the universal phenomena near the quantum critical point which are discussed. In particular the structure of scaling of the universal critical singularities can be significantly modified from more familiar criticality. Scaling hypotheses appropriate to a critical fermi surface are proposed. Implications for experiments on heavy fermion critical points are discussed. Various phenomena in the normal state of the cuprates are also examined from this perspective. We suggest that a phase transition that involves a dramatic reconstruction of the Fermi surface might underlie a number of strange observations in the metallic states above the superconducting dome.
We study in this paper the general properties of a many body system of fermions in arbitrary dimensions assuming that the {\em momentum} of individual fermions are good quantum numbers of the system. We call these systems $k$-Fermi liquids. We show how Fermi liquid, Luttinger liquid (or Fermi liquid with exclusion statistics) and spin-charge separation arises from this framework. Two exactly solvable $k$-Fermi liquid models with spin-charge separation are discussed as examples.
It is well-known that, generically, the one-dimensional interacting fermions cannot be described in terms of the Fermi liquid. Instead, they present different phenomenology, that of the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid: the Landau quasiparticles are ill-defined, and the fermion occupation number is continuous at the Fermi energy. We demonstrate that suitable fine-tuning of the interaction between fermions can stabilize a peculiar state of one-dimensional matter, which is dissimilar to both the Tomonaga-Luttinger and Fermi liquids. We propose to call this state a quasi-Fermi liquid. Technically speaki…
We propose in this paper an effective low-energy theory for interacting fermion systems which supports exclusion statistics. The theory can be viewed as an extension of Landau Fermi liquid theory where besides quasi-particle energy $ξ_{\mathbf{k}}$, the kinetic momentum $\mathbf{k}$ of quasi-particles depends also on quasi-particle occupation numbers as a result of momentum ($k$)-dependent current-current interaction. The dependence of kinetic momentum on quasi-particles excitations leads to change in density of states and exclusion statistics. The properties of this new Fermi liquid state is …
We develop a theory for a generic instability of a Fermi liquid in dimension d>1 against the formation of a Luttinger-liquid-like state. The density of states at the Fermi level is the order parameter for the ensuing quantum phase transition, which is driven by the effective interaction strength. A scaling theory in conjunction with an effective field theoy for clean electrons is used to obtain the critical behavior of observables. In the Fermi-liquid phase the order-parameter susceptibility, which is measurable by tunneling, is predicted to diverge for 1<d<3.
We extend and apply a recent theory of the dynamical spin response of Anderson lattice systems to interpret ESR data on YbRh2Si2. Starting within a semiphenomenological Fermi liquid description at low temperatures T < Tx (a crossover temperature) and low magnetic fields B << Bx, we extend the description to the non-Fermi liquid regime by adopting a quasiparticle picture with effective mass and spin susceptibility varying logarithmically with energy/temperature, as observed in experiment. We find a sharp ESR resonance line slightly shifted from the local f-level resonance and broadened by quasi…
We show that thermodynamics is insufficient to probe the nature of the low energy dynamics of quantum impurity models and a more subtle analysis based on scattering theory is required. Traditionally, quantum impurity models are classified into one of two categories: Fermi liquids and non-Fermi liquids, depending on the analytic properties of the various thermodynamic quntities. We show, however, that even when a quantum impurity model is a Fermi liquid (an incoming electron at the Fermi level scatters elastically off the impurity), one may find singular thermodynamic behavior if characteristic…
We show that the one-dimensional (1D) electron systems can also be described by Landau's phenomenological Fermi-liquid theory. Most of the known results derived from the Luttinger-liquid theory can be retrieved from the 1D Fermi-liquid theory. Exact correspondence between the Landau parameters and Haldane parameters is established. The exponents of the dynamical correlation functions and the impurity problem are also discussed based on the finite size corrections of elementary excitations with the predictions of the conformal field theory, which provides a bridge between the 1D Fermi-liquid an…
We study the longitudinal sound propagation in the electronic nematic Fermi liquid where the Fermi surface is distorted due to the spontaneously broken rotational symmetry. The behavior of the sound wave in the nematic ordered state is dramatically different from that in the isotropic Fermi liquid. The collective modes associated with the fluctuations of the Fermi surface distortion in the nematic Fermi liquid leads to the strong and anisotropic damping of the sound wave. The relevance of the nematic Fermi liquid in doped Mott insulator is discussed.
In these lecture notes, the basic physics of Fermi liquids and Luttinger liquids is presented. Fermi liquids are discussed both from a phenomenological viewpoint, in relation to microscopic approaches, and as renormalization group fixed points. Luttinger liquids are introduced using the bosonization formalism, and their essential differences with Fermi liquids are pointed out. Applications to transport effects, the effect of disorder, quantum spin chains, and spin ladders, both insulating and metallic, are given.
We show that a strongly correlated Fermi system with the fermion condensate, which exhibits strong deviations from Landau Fermi liquid behavior, is driven into the Landau Fermi liquid by applying a small magnetic field $B$ at temperature T=0. This field-induced Landau Fermi liquid behavior provides the constancy of the Kadowaki-Woods ratio. A reentrance into the strongly correlated regime is observed if the magnetic field $B$ decreases to zero, then the effective mass $M^*$ diverges as $M^*\propto 1/\sqrt{B}$. At finite temperatures, the strongly correlated regime is restored at some temperatu…
An intense investigation of possible non-Fermi liquid states of matter has been inspired by two of the most intriguing phenomena discovered in the past quarter century, namely high temperature superconductivity and the fractional quantum Hall effect. Despite enormous conceptual strides, these two fields have developed largely along separate paths. Two widely employed theories are the resonating valence bond theory for high temperature superconductivity and the composite fermion theory for the fractional quantum Hall effect. The goal of this "perspective" article is to note that they subscribe …
Non-Fermi liquid behavior of strongly correlated Fermi systems is derived within the Landau approach. We attribute this behavior to a phase transition associated with a rearrangement of the Landau state that leads to flattening of a portion of the single-particle spectrum $ε({\bf p})$ in the vicinity of the Fermi surface. We demonstrate that the quasiparticle subsystem responsible for the flat spectrum possesses the same thermodynamic properties as a gas of localized spins. Theoretical results compare favorably with available experimental data. While departing radically from prevalent views on…
A crossover from a non-Fermi liquid to a Fermi liquid phase in Yb$_2$Ni$_{12}$P$_7$ is observed by analyzing electrical resistivity $ρ(T)$, magnetic susceptibility $χ(T)$, specific heat $C(T)$, and thermoelectric power $S(T)$ measurements. The electronic contribution to specific heat, $C_{e}(T)$, behaves as $C_{e}(T)/T \sim -\ln(T)$ for 5 K $< T <$ 15 K, which is consistent with non-Fermi liquid behavior. Below $T \sim$ 4 K, the upturn in $C_{e}(T)/T$ begins to saturate, suggesting that the system crosses over into a Fermi-liquid ground state. This is consistent with robust $ρ(T) - ρ_0 = AT^2$…
This paper is concerned with the weak-moment magnetism in heavy-fermion materials and its relation to the non-Fermi liquid physics observed near the transition to the Fermi liquid. We explore the hypothesis that the primary fluctuations responsible for the non-Fermi liquid physics are those associated with the destruction of the large Fermi surface of the Fermi liquid. Magnetism is suggested to be a low-energy instability of the resulting small Fermi surface state. A concrete realization of this picture is provided by a fractionalized Fermi liquid state which has a small Fermi surface of condu…
We study the effect of electron hopping in triple quantum dots modelled by the three-impurity Anderson model. We determine the range of hopping parameters where the system exhibits the two-channel Kondo effect and has non-Fermi-liquid properties in a wide temperature interval. As this interval is entered from above, the conductance through the side dots increases to a half of the conductance quantum, while the conductance through the system remains small. At lower temperatures the conductance through the system increases to the unitary limit as the system crosses over to the Fermi-liquid groun…
In this paper, we study the lightly doped Kitaev spin liquid (DKSL) and find it to be a Fermi liquid state. The DKSL has a closed Fermi surface around the center of the Brillouin zone with the quantized volume determined by the Luttinger's theorem. It has well-defined quasiparticles near the Fermi surface and can be detected in the angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The DKSL has the topological Kitaev spin liquid (KSL) as its neutral background. It violates the Wiedemann-Franz law and has a large Wilson ration. These results has the potential experimental test in the iridates upon dopi…
The appearance of the fermion condensation, which can be compared to the Bose-Einstein condensation, in high-T_c metals, heavy-fermion metals and in other liquids is considered, its properties are discussed and a large number of experimental evidences in favor of the existence of the fermion condensate is presented.
A system with charge conservation and lattice translation symmetry has a well-defined filling $ν$, which is a real number representing the average charge per unit cell. We show that if $ν$ is fractional (i.e. not an integer), this imposes very strong constraints on the low-energy theory of the system and give a framework to understand such constraints in great generality, vastly generalizing the Luttinger and Lieb-Schultz-Mattis theorems. The most powerful constraint comes about if $ν$ is continuously tunable (i.e. the system is charge-compressible), in which case we show that the low-energy t…
We propose a skyrmion liquid state for the non-Fermi liquid (NFL) phase in Ge-substituted YbRh$_{2}$Si$_{2}$, where skyrmions form their Fermi surface, argued to result from the strongly coupled nature between skyrmions and itinerant electrons. The fermionized skyrmion theory identifies the antiferromagnetic (AF) transition with the Lifshitz transition, where the quantum critical point (QCP) is characterized by the dynamical critical exponent $z = 2$. Nonlocal interactions between skyrmions allow a critical line above the AF QCP, which originates from the Kondo-coupling effect with itinerant e…
We present two 2D lattice models with non-Fermi liquid metallic phases. We show that the low energy physics of these models is exactly described by a Fermi sea of fractionalized quasiparticles coupled to a fluctuating U(1) gauge field. In the first model, the underlying degrees of freedom are spin 1/2 fermions. This model demonstrates that electrons can in principle give rise to non-Fermi liquid metallic phases. In the second model, the underlying degrees of freedom are spinless bosons. This model provides a concrete example of a (non-Fermi liquid) Bose metal. With little modification, it also…
The role of Coulomb correlations in the iron pnictide LaFeAsO is studied by generalizing exact diagonalization dynamical mean field theory to five orbitals. For rotationally invariant Hund's rule coupling a continuous transition from a paramagnetic Fermi-liquid phase to a non-Fermi-liquid metallic phase exhibiting frozen moments is found at moderate Coulomb energies. For Ising-like exchange, this transition is first order and occurs at a lower critical Coulomb energy. The correlation-induced scattering rate as a function of doping relative to half-filling, i.e., delta = n/5-1, where n=6 for th…
Entanglement of spin and orbital Kondo effect is investigated on the basis of a Kondo-type exchange model with twofold orbital degeneracy. By using Wilson's numerical renormalization-group method, we examine dynamical and thermal properties respecting the difference in time-reversal property of multipole operators. In the presence of particle-hole symmetry, the model has a new non-Fermi-liquid fixed point with a fractional entropy. The spectral intensity of the quadrupole susceptibility diverges in the zero-frequency limit, while the dipole susceptibility shows a Fermi-liquid-like behavior. Th…
In order to understand the non-Fermi-liquid behavior of MnSi under pressure we propose a scenario on the basis of the multispiral state of the magnetic moment. This state can describe the recent critical experiment of the Bragg sphere in the neutron scattering which is the key ingredient of the non-Fermi-liquid behavior.
Using the numerical renormalization group method, we investigate an extended Anderson model, in which correlated electrons with the $Γ_1$(singlet)-$\Gamma4$(triplet) f$^2$ crystalline-electric-field (CEF) configuration hybridize with conduction electrons of $Γ_7$(doublet) and $Γ_8$ (quartet) under cubic $O_h$ symmetry, from a strong spin-orbit interaction limit. For the case of the parameters relevant to PrFe4P12, the system is under competition between the CEF singlet fixed point and the multichannel Kondo non-Fermi liquid fixed point arising from the quadrupolar coupling between the impurity…
We investigate the two dimensional generalized attractive Hubbard model in a bipartite lattice, and and a "quantum phase liquid" phase, in which the fermions are paired but don't have phase coherence at zero temperature, in analogy to quantum spin liquid phase. Then, two types of topological quantum phase liquids with a small external magnetic field-Z2 quantum phase liquids and chiral quantum phase liquids-are discussed.
An instability of the quasi-1D Luttinger liquid associated with the metal - insulator transition is considered. The homogeneous metal ground state of this liquid is demonstrated to be unstable and the charge-density wave arises in the system. The wavevector of this wave has nonzero component both along the direction of the chains and in the perpendicular direction. The ground state of the system has a dielectric gap at the Fermi surface, the value of this gap being calculated.
One of the most successful theories of a non-Fermi liquid metallic state is the composite Fermi liquid (CFL) theory of the half-filled Landau level. In this paper, we study continuous quantum phase transitions out of the CFL state and into a Landau Fermi liquid, in the limit of no disorder and fixed particle number. This transition can be induced by tuning the bandwidth of the Landau level relative to the interaction energy, for instance through an externally applied periodic potential. We find a transition to the Landau Fermi liquid through a gapless Mott insulator with a Fermi surface of neu…
In the study of non-Fermi-liquid (NFL) phenomena in correlated metals, U2Pt2In is of special interest as it is one of the rare stoichiometric (undoped) materials that show NFL behaviour at ambient pressure. Here we report on the stability of the NFL phase with respect to hydrostatic pressure (p< 1.8 GPa). Electrical resistivity data under pressure, taken on a single-crystalline sample for a current in the tetragonal plane, show that T_FL, i.e. the temperature below which the Fermi-liquid T^2-term is observed, increases with pressure as T_FL ~ (p-p_c), where p_c~0 is a critical pressure. This p…
I review our incomplete understanding of non-Fermi liquid behavior in heavy fermion systems at a quantum critical point. General considerations suggest that critical antiferromagnetic fluctuations do not destroy the Fermi surface by scattering the heavy electrons- but by actually breaking up the internal structure of the heavy fermion. I contrast the weak, and strong-coupling view of the quantum phase transition, emphasizing puzzles and questions that recent experiments raise.
We study the Mott metal-insulator transition in the Periodic Anderson Model within Dynamical Mean Field Theory (DMFT). Near the quantum transition, we find a non-Fermi liquid metallic state down to a vanishing temperature scale. We identify the origin of the non-Fermi liquid behavior as due to magnetic scattering of the doped carriers by the localized moments. The non-Fermi liquid state can be tuned by either doping or external magnetic field. Our results show that the coupling to spatial magnetic fluctuations (absent in DMFT) is not a prerequisite to realize a non-Fermi liquid scenario for he…
We consider the half-filled Hubbard model with a cut-off forbidding momenta close to the angles of the square shaped Fermi surface. By Renormalization Group methods we find a convergent expansion for the Schwinger function up to exponentially small temperatures. We prove that the system is not a Fermi liquid, but on the contrary it behaves like a Marginal Fermi liquid, a behaviour observed in the normal phase of high T_c superconductors.
Heavy electron metals on the verge of a quantum phase transition to magnetism show a number of unusual non-fermi liquid properties which are poorly understood. This article discusses in a general way various theoretical aspects of this phase transition with an eye toward understanding the non-fermi liquid phenomena. We suggest that the non-Fermi liquid quantum critical state may have a sharp Fermi surface with power law quasiparticles but with a volume not set by the usual Luttinger rule. We also discuss the possibility that the electronic structure change associated with the possible Fermi su…
Non-Fermi liquids arise when metals are subject to singular interactions mediated by soft collective modes. In the absence of well-defined quasiparticle, universal physics of non-Fermi liquids is captured by interacting field theories which replace Landau Fermi liquid theory. In this review, we discuss two approaches that have been recently developed for non-Fermi liquid theory with emphasis on two space dimensions. The first is a perturbative scheme based on a dimensional regularization, which achieves a controlled access to the low-energy physics by tuning the number of co-dimensions of Ferm…
We report the detailed non-Fermi liquid (NFL) lineshape of the dispersing excitation which defines the Fermi surface (FS) for quasi-one-dimensional Li_{0.9}Mo_{6}O_{17}. The properties of Li_{0.9}Mo_{6}O_{17} strongly suggest that the NFL behavior has a purely electronic origin. Relative to the theoretical Luttinger liquid lineshape, we identify significant similarities, but also important differences.
Within bosonization theory we introduce in this paper a new definition of "quasi-particles" for interacting fermions at arbitrary space dimenions. In dimensions higher than one we show that the constructed quasi-particles are consistent with quasi-particle descriptions in Landau Fermi liquid theory whereas in one-dimension the quasi-particles" are non-perturbative objects (spinons and holons) obeying fractional statistics. The more general situation of Fermi liquids with singular Landau interaction is discussed.
We propose a simple solvable variant of the Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model which displays a quantum phase transition from a fast-scrambling non-Fermi liquid to disordered Fermi liquid. Like the canonical SYK model, our variant involves a single species of Majorana fermions connected by all-to-all random four-fermion interactions. The phase transition is driven by a random two-fermion term added to the Hamiltonian whose structure is inspired by proposed solid-state realizations of the SYK model. Analytic expressions for the saddle point solutions at large number $N$ of fermions are obtained and …
We study in this paper quantum spin liquid states (QSLs) at the vicinity of metal-insulator transition. Assuming that the low energy excitations in the QSLs are labeled by "spinon" occupation numbers with the same Fermi surface structure as in the corresponding metal (Fermi-liquid) side, we propose a phenomenological Landau-like low energy theory for the QSLs and show that the usual U(1) QSLs is a representative member of this class of spin liquids. Based on our effective low energy theory, an alternative picture to the Brinkman-Rice picture of Mott metal-insulator transition is proposed. The …
The Mott metal-insulator transition-a drastic manifestations of Coulomb interactions among electrons-is the first-order transition of clear discontinuity, as shown by various experiments and the celebrated dynamical mean-field theory. Recent theoretical works, however, suggest that the transition is continuous if the Mott insulator carries an exotic spin liquid with a spinon Fermi surface. Here, we demonstrate the case of a quasi-continuous Mott transition from a Fermi liquid to a spin liquid in an organic triangular-lattice system k-(ET)2Cu2(CN)3. Transport experiments performed under fine pr…
We study the Fermi surface topological transition of the pocket-opening type in a two dimensional Fermi liquid with spin-orbit coupling of Rashba type. We find that the interactions, far from instabilities, drive the transition first order at zero temperature surprisingly in a more pronounced way than in the case of interacting Fermi liquid without spin-orbit coupling. We first gain insight from second order perturbation theory in the self-energy. We then extend the results to stronger interaction, using the self-consistent fluctuation approximation. We discuss existing experimental work on th…
We review a recently developed method, based on an exact auxiliary boson representation, to describe both Fermi liquid and non-Fermi liquid behavior in quantum impurity systems. Coherent spin and charge fluctuation processes are taken into account in a self-consistent way and are shown to include {\it all} leading and subleading infrared singularities at any given order of the self-consistent loop expansion of the free energy. As a consequence, for the SU(N)$\times$ SU(M) Anderson impurity models the correct temperature dependence of the susceptibility is recovered over the entire temperature …
We report far-infrared optical properties of YbRh$_{2}$Si$_{2}$ for photon energies down to 2 meV and temperatures 0.4 -- 300 K. In the coherent heavy quasiparticle state, a linear dependence of the low-energy scattering rate on both temperature and photon energy was found. We relate this distinct dynamical behavior different from that of Fermi liquid materials to the non-Fermi liquid nature of YbRh$_{2}$Si$_{2}$ which is due to its close vicinity to an antiferromagnetic quantum critical point.
We consider non-Fermi liquids in which the inelastic scattering rate has an intrinsic particle-hole asymmetry and obeys $ω/T$ scaling. We show that, in contrast to Fermi liquids, this asymmetry influences the low-temperature behaviour of the thermopower even in the presence of impurity scattering. Implications for the unconventional sign and temperature dependence of the thermopower in cuprates in the strange metal (Planckian) regime are emphasized.
We study the fate of a two-dimensional system of interacting fermions with Rashba spin-orbit coupling in the dilute limit. The interactions are strongly renormalized at low densities, and give rise to various fermionic liquid crystalline phases, including a spin-density wave, an in-plane ferromagnet, and a non-magnetic nematic phase, even in the weak coupling limit. The nature of the ground state in the low-density limit depends on the range of the interactions: for short range interactions it is the ferromagnet, while for dipolar interactions the nematic phase is favored. Interestingly, the f…
We propose a new parton theory of the hole-doped cuprates, describing the evolution from the pseudogap metal with small Fermi surfaces to the conventional Fermi liquid with a large Fermi surface. We introduce 2 ancilla qubits per square lattice site, and employ them to obtain a variational wavefunction of a fractionalized Fermi liquid for the pseudogap metal state. We propose a multi-layer Hamiltonion for the cuprates, with the electrons residing in the 'physical' layer, and the ancilla qubits in two 'hidden' layers: the hidden layers can be decoupled from the physical layer by a canonical tra…
We show that in the Anderson model for a two-dimensional non-Fermi liquid a magnetic instability can lead to the itinerant electron ferromagnetism. The critical temperature and the susceptibility of the paramagnetic phase have been analytically calculated. The usual Fermi behaviour is re-obtained taking the anomalous exponent to be zero.
We study a bandwidth controlled Mott metal-insulator transition (MIT) between a Fermi liquid metal and a quantum spin-liquid insulator at half-filling in three dimensions (3D). Using a slave rotor approach, and incorporating gauge field fluctuations, we find a continuous MIT and discuss the finite temperature crossovers around this critical point. We show that the specific heat C=T ln ln (1/T) at the MIT and argue that the electrical transport on the metallic side near the transition should exhibit a `conductivity minimum' as a function of temperature. A possible candidate to test these predic…
We investigate the approach to the quantum critical point of a Pomeranchuk instability from the symmetric, disordered side of the phase diagram. In the low-temperature limit, a Fermi liquid description of the metal is possible and becomes exact for T -> 0. We discuss in detail which features of the approach to quantum criticality can be captured within Fermi liquid theory and which are outside of its scope.
We show that the spectral function for single-particle excitations in a two-dimensional Fermi liquid has Lorentzian shape in the low energy limit. Landau quasi-particles have a uniquely defined spectral weight and a decay rate which is much smaller than the quasi-particle energy. By contrast, perturbation theory and the T-matrix approximation yield spurious deviations from Fermi liquid behavior, which are particularly pronounced for a linearized dispersion relation.
Basing on the density functional theory of fermion condensation, we analyze the non-Fermi liquid behavior of strongly correlated Fermi-systems such as heavy-fermion metals. When deriving equations for the effective mass of quasiparticles, we consider solids with a lattice and homogeneous systems. We show that the low-temperature thermodynamic and transport properties are formed by quasiparticles, while the dependence of the effective mass on temperature, number density, magnetic fields, etc gives rise to the non-Fermi liquid behavior. Our theoretical study of the heat capacity, magnetization, …
We show that the Luttinger theorem, a robust feature of Fermi liquids, can be violated in non-Fermi liquids. We compute non-Fermi liquid Green functions using duality to black holes and find that the volume of the Fermi surface depends exponentially on the scaling dimension, which is a measure of the coupling. This demonstrates that Luttinger's theorem does not extend to non-Fermi liquids. We comment on possible experimental signatures.
We investigate the non-Fermi-liquid behaviors of the 2D and 3D Dirac/Weyl systems with low-order and higher order dispersion. The self-energy correction, symmetry, free energy, optical conductivity, density of states, and spectral function are studied. We found that, for Dirac/Weyl systems with higher order dispersion, the non-Fermi-liquid features remain even at finite chemical potential, and they are distinct from the ones in Fermi-liquid picture and the conventional non-Fermi-liquid picture. The Landau damping of the longitudinal excitations within random-phase-approximation (RPA) for the n…
The strange metal phase of optimally and overdoped cuprates exhibits a number of anomalous transport properties: unsaturating linear T resistivity, distinct relaxation times for Hall angle and resistivity, temperature dependent anisotropic relaxation times, and a characteristic crossover from supposed Fermi Liquid to linear T behavior. All receive natural explanations and quantitative fits in terms of the Hidden Fermi Liquid theory.
We present a numerical study on non-Fermi liquid behaviour of a three dimensional system. The Hubbard model in a cubic lattice is simulated by the dynamical cluster approximation, in particular the quasi-particle weight is calculated at finite dopings for a range of temperatures. Near the putative quantum critical point, we find evidence of a separatrix at a finite doping which separates the Fermi liquid from non-Fermi liquid as the doping increases. Our results suggest that a marginal Fermi liquid and possibly a quantum critical point should exist in the three dimensions interacting Fermi sys…
