Torsion points on the cohomology jump loci of compact Kähler manifolds

We prove that each irreducible component of the cohomology jump loci of rank one local systems over a compact Kähler manifold contains at least one torsion point. This generalizes a theorem of Simpson for smooth complex projective varieties. An immediate consequence is the conjecture of Beauville and Catanese for compact Kähler manifolds. We also provide an example of a compact Kähler manifold, whose cohomology jump loci can not be realized by any smooth complex projective variety.

Torsion points on cohomology support loci: from D-modules to Simpson's theorem

We study cohomology support loci of regular holonomic D-modules on complex abelian varieties, and obtain conditions under which each irreducible component of such a locus contains a torsion point. One case is that both the D-module and the corresponding perverse sheaf are defined over a number field; another case is that the D-module underlies a grade-polarizable mixed Hodge module with a Z-structure. As a consequence, we obtain a new proof for Simpson's result that Green-Lazarsfeld sets are translates of subtori by torsion points.

Intersections of loci of admissible covers with tautological classes

For a finite group $G$, let $\H_{g,G,ξ}$ be the stack of admissible $G$-covers $C\to D$ of stable curves with ramification data $ξ$, $g(C)=g$ and $g(D)=g'$. There are source and target morphisms $ϕ\colon \H_{g,G,ξ}\to \M_{g,r}$ and $δ\colon \H_{g,G,ξ}\to \M_{g',b}$, remembering the curves $C$ and $D$ together with the ramification or branch points of the cover respectively. The closure of double ramification loci via strata of exact differentials

Complex Multiplication and Noether-Lefschetz Loci of the Twistor Space of a K3 Surface

For an algebraic K3 surface with complex multiplication (CM), algebraic fibres of the associated twistor space away from the equator are again of CM type. In this paper, we show that algebraic fibres corresponding to points at the same altitude of the twistor base $S^2\simeq \mathbb{P}^1_\mathbb{C}$ share the same CM endomorphism field. Moreover, we determine all the admissible Picard numbers of the twistor fibres.
