We investigate the Liouvillian integrability of Hamiltonian systems describing a universe filled with a scalar field (possibly complex). The tool used is the differential Galois group approach, as introduced by Morales-Ruiz and Ramis. The main result is that the generic systems with minimal coupling are non-integrable, although there still exist some values of parameters for which integrability remains undecided; the conformally coupled systems are only integrable in four known cases. We also draw a connection with chaos present in such cosmological models, and the issues of integrability restricted to the real domain.
We present an infinite hierarchy of nonlocal conservation laws for the Przanowski equation, an integrable second-order PDE locally equivalent to anti-self-dual vacuum Einstein equations with nonzero cosmological constant. The hierarchy in question is constructed using a nonisospectral Lax pair for the equation under study. As a byproduct, we obtain an infinite-dimensional differential covering over the Przanowski equation.
There are many works studying the integrability of the Bianchi class A cosmologies with k=1. Here we characterize the analytic integrability of the Bianchi class A cosmological models when 0<= k<1.
We consider a Lorentz violating scalar field cosmological model given by the modified Einstein-aether theory defined in Weyl integrable geometry. The existence of exact and analytic solutions is investigated for the case of a spatially flat Friedmann--Lema\^ıtre--Robertson--Walker background space. We show that the theory admits cosmological solutions of special interests. In addition, we prove that the cosmological field equations admit the Lewis invariant as a second conservation law, which indicates the integrability of the field equations.
For a family of Horndeski theories, formulated in terms of a generalized Galileon model, we study the integrability of the field equations in a Friedmann-Lema\^ıtre-Robertson-Walker spacetime. We are interested in point transformations which leave invariant the field equations. Noether's theorem is applied to determine the conservation laws for a family of models that belong to the same general class. The cosmological scenarios with or without an extra perfect fluid with constant equation of state parameter are the two important cases of our study. \ The De Sitter universe and ideal gas soluti…
Nowadays it is widely accepted that the evolution of the universe was driven by some scalar degrees of freedom both on its early stage and at present. The corresponding cosmological models often involve some scalar fields introduced ad hoc. In this paper we cultivate a different approach, which is based on a derivation of new scalar degrees of freedom from fundamental modifications of Einstein's gravity. In elaboration of our previous work, we here investigate properties of the dilaton-scalar gravity obtained by dimensional reductions of a recently proposed affine generalized gravity theory. W…

We study the Hamilton-Jacobi and massive Klein-Gordon equations in the general Kerr-(Anti) de Sitter black hole background in all dimensions. Complete separation of both equations is carried out in cases when there are two sets of equal black hole rotation parameters. We analyze explicitly the symmetry properties of these backgrounds that allow for this Liouville integrability and construct a nontrivial irreducible Killing tensor associated with the enlarged symmetry group which permits separation. We also derive first-order equations of motion for particles in these backgrounds and examine so…
We perform a detailed study on the integrability of the Hoř% ava-Lifshitz scalar field cosmology in a Friedmann--Lema\^ı% tre--Robertson--Walker background spacetime. The approach we follow to determine the integrability is that of the Singularity Analysis. More specifically, we test if the gravitational field equations possesses the Painlevé property. For the exponential potential of the scalar field we are able to perform an analytic explicit integration of the field equations and write the solution in terms of Laurent expansion and more specifically write the solution in terms of Right Pain…
Zero-curvature representations (ZCRs) are one of the main tools in the theory of integrable PDEs. In particular, Lax pairs for (1+1)-dimensional PDEs can be interpreted as ZCRs. In [arXiv:1303.3575], for any (1+1)-dimensional scalar evolution equation $E$, we defined a family of Lie algebras $F(E)$ which are responsible for all ZCRs of $E$ in the following sense. Representations of the algebras $F(E)$ classify all ZCRs of the equation $E$ up to local gauge transformations. In [arXiv:1804.04652] we showed that, using these algebras, one obtains necessary conditions for existence of a Bäcklund t…
The integrability of the\ $Λ-$Einstein-nonlinear $SU(2)$ $σ$-model with nonvanishing cosmological charge is studied. We apply the method of singularity analysis of differential equations and we show that the equations for the gravitational field are integrable. The first few terms of the solution are presented.
We investigate the evolution equation of linear density perturbations in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe with matter, radiation and the cosmological constant. The concept of solvability by quadratures is defined and used to prove that there are no "closed form" solutions except for the known Chernin, Heath, Meszaros and simple degenerate ones. The analysis is performed applying Kovacic's algorithm. The possibility of the existence of other, more general solutions involving special functions is also investigated.
We apply singularity analysis to investigate the integrability properties of the gravitational field equations in Weyl Integrable Spacetime for a spatially flat Friedmann--Lemaître--Robertson--Walker background spacetime induced with an ideal gas. We find that the field equations possess the Painlevé property in the presence of the cosmological constant and the analytic solution is given by a left Laurent expansion.
In this article we present a new exact solution for scalar field with cosmological constant in cylindrical symmetry. Associated cosmological models is discussed. One of them describes a Cyclic universe.
In many cases a massive nonlinear scalar field can lead to accelerated expansion in cosmological models. This paper contains mathematical results on this subject for flat Robertson-Walker space-time. Global existence to the coupled Einstein-massive scalar field system which rules the dynamics of a kind of pure matter in the presence of a massive scalar field and cosmological constant is proved, under the assumption that the scalar field ? is a non-decreasing function, in Robertson-Walker1 space-time; asymptotic behaviour are investigated in the case of a cosmological constant bounded from belo…
We study integrability of fishnet-type Feynman graphs arising in planar four-dimensional bi-scalar chiral theory recently proposed in arXiv:1512.06704 as a special double scaling limit of gamma-deformed $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM theory. We show that the transfer matrix "building" the fishnet graphs emerges from the $R-$matrix of non-compact conformal $SU(2,2)$ Heisenberg spin chain with spins belonging to principal series representations of the four-dimensional conformal group. We demonstrate explicitly a relationship between this integrable spin chain and the Quantum Spectral Curve (QSC) of $\mathc…
A number of characteristics of integrable nonlinear partial differential equations (PDE's) for classical fields are reviewed, such as Backlund transformations, Lax pairs, and infinite sequences of conservation laws. An algebraic approach to the symmetry problem of PDE's is described, suitable for PDE's the solutions of which are non-scalar fields (e.g., are in the form of matrices). A method is proposed which, in certain cases, may "unify" the symmetry and integrability properties of a nonlinear PDE. Application is made to the self-dual Yang-Mills equation and the Ernst equation of General Rel…
This is an example of application of Ziglin-Morales-Ramis algebraic studies in Hamiltonian integrability, more specifically the result by Morales, Ramis and Simó on higher-order variational equations, to the well-known Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmological model. A previous paper by the author formalises said variational systems in such a way allowing the simple expression of notable elements of the differential Galois group needed to study integrability. Using this formalisation and an alternative method already used by other authors, we find sufficient conditions whose fulfillment would en…
By means of transformations to nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations, we show that a generalized short pulse equation is integrable in two (and, most probably, only two) distinct cases of its coefficients. The first case is the original short pulse equation (SPE). The second case, which we call the single-cycle pulse equation (SCPE), is a previously overlooked scalar reduction of a known integrable system of coupled SPEs. We get the Lax pair and bi-Hamiltonian structure for the SCPE and show that the smooth envelope soliton of the SCPE can be as short as only one cycle of its carrier frequency.
In many cases a scalar field can lead to accelerated expansion in cosmological models. This paper contains mathematical results on this subject particularly on type I Bianchi space-time. In this paper, global existence to the coupled Einstein-scalar field system which rules the dynamics of a kind of pure matter in the presence of a scalar field and cosmological constant is proven.
We present the classification of quadratically integrable systems of the cylindrical type with magnetic fields in quantum mechanics. Following the direct method used in classical mechanics by [F Fournier et al 2020 J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 53 085203] to facilitate the comparison, the cases which may a priori differ yield 2 systems without any correction and 2 with it. In all of them, the magnetic field $B$ coincides with the classical one, only the scalar potential $W$ may contain a $\hbar^2$-dependent correction. Two of the systems have both cylindrical integrals quadratic in momenta and are …
Recently, we constructed the first-principle derivation of the holographic dual of N=4 SYM in the double-scaled $γ$-deformed limit directly from the CFT side. The dual fishchain model is a novel integrable chain of particles in AdS5. It can be viewed as a discretized string and revives earlier string-bit approaches. The original derivation was restricted to the operators built out of one of two types of scalar fields. In this paper, we extend our results to the general operators having any number of scalars of both types, except for a very special case when their numbers are equal. Interesting…
The integrable 1+1-dimensional SU(2) principal chiral model (PCM) serves as a toy-model for 3+1-dimensional Yang-Mills theory as it is asymptotically free and displays a mass gap. Interestingly, the PCM is 'pseudodual' to a scalar field theory introduced by Zakharov and Mikhailov and Nappi that is strongly coupled in the ultraviolet and could serve as a toy-model for non-perturbative properties of theories with a Landau pole. Unlike the 'Euclidean' current algebra of the PCM, its pseudodual is based on a nilpotent current algebra. Recently, Rajeev and Ranken obtained a mechanical reduction by …
