In this paper we derive two expressions for the Hurwitz zeta function involving the complete Bell polynomials in the restricted case where q is a positive integer greater than 1. The arguments of the complete Bell polynomials comprise the generalised harmonic number functions. These in turn give rise to Euler-Hurwitz series which may then be used to determine identities for combinations of both linear and non-linear Euler sums.
We consider some closed-form evaluations of certain infinite sums involving the Hurwitz zeta function $ζ(s,α)$ of the form \[\sum_{k=1}^\infty (\pm 1)^k k^m ζ(s,k),\] where $m$ is a non-negative integer. For the sums with $m=0$ and the argument $k$ in $ζ(s,k)$ replaced by $ka+b$, where $a$ and $b$ are positive parameters, we also obtain a transformation formula suitable for computation in the limit $a\to0$.
The definition for the $p$-adic Hurwitz-type Euler zeta functions has been given by using the fermionic $p$-adic integral on $\mathbb Z_p$. By computing the values of this kind of $p$-adic zeta function at negative integers, we show that it interpolates the Euler polynomials $p$-adically. Many properties are provided for the $p$-adic Hurwitz-type Euler zeta functions, including the convergent Laurent series expansion, the distribution formula, the functional equation, the reflection formula, the derivative formula, the $p$-adic Raabe formula and so on. The definition for the $p$-adic Euler $L$…
The Hurwitz-type Euler zeta function is defined as a deformation of the Hurwitz zeta function: \begin{equation*} ζ_E(s,x)=\sum_{n=0}^\infty\frac{(-1)^n}{(n+x)^s}. \end{equation*} In this paper, by using the method of Fourier expansions, we shall evaluate several integrals with integrands involving Hurwitz-type Euler zeta functions $ζ_E(s,x)$. Furthermore, the relations between the values of a class of the Hurwitz-type (or Lerch-type) Euler zeta functions at rational arguments have also been given.
Integrals involving the kernel function $sech (πx)$ over a semi-infinite range are of general interest in the study of Riemann's function $ζ(s)$ and Hurwitz' function $ζ(s,a)$. Such integrals that include the $arctan$ and $log$ functions in the integrand are evaluated here in terms of $ζ(s,a)$, thereby adding some new members to a known family of related integrals. A claimed connection between $ζ(s)$ of odd integer argument and such integrals is verified.
We consider two integrals over $x\in [0,1]$ involving products of the function $ζ_1(a,x)\equiv ζ(a,x)-x^{-a}$, where $ζ(a,x)$ is the Hurwitz zeta function, given by $$\int_0^1ζ_1(a,x)ζ_1(b,x)\,dx\quad\mbox{and}\quad \int_0^1ζ_1(a,x)ζ_1(b,1-x)\,dx$$ when $\Re (a,b)>1$. These integrals have been investigated recently in \cite{SCP}; here we provide an alternative derivation by application of Feynman parametrization. We also discuss a moment integral and the evaluation of two doubly infinite sums containing the Riemann zeta function $ζ(x)$ and two free parameters $a$ and $b$. The limiting forms of…
In 1900, at the international congress of mathematicians, Hilbert claimed that the Riemann zeta function $ζ(s)$ is not the solution of any algebraic ordinary differential equations on its region of analyticity. In 2015, Van Gorder considered the question of whether $ζ(s)$ satisfies a non-algebraic differential equation and showed that it formally satisfies an infinite order linear differential equation. Recently, Prado and Klinger-Logan extended Van Gorder's result to show that the Hurwitz zeta function $ζ(s,a)$ is also formally satisfies a similar differential equation \begin{equation*}\label…
We give explicit evaluations of the linear and non-linear Euler sums of hyperharmonic numbers $h_{n}^{\left( r\right) }$ with reciprocal binomial coefficients. These evaluations enable us to extend closed form formula of Euler sums of hyperharmonic numbers to an arbitrary integer $r$. Moreover, we reach at explicit formulas for the shifted Euler-type sums of harmonic and hyperharmonic numbers. All the evaluations are provided in terms of the Riemann zeta values, harmonic numbers and linear Euler sums.
Dating back to Euler, in classical analysis and number theory, the Hurwitz zeta function $$ ζ(z,q)=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}\frac{1}{(n+q)^{z}}, $$ the Riemann zeta function $ζ(z)$, the generalized Stieltjes constants $γ_k(q)$, the Euler constant $γ$, Euler's gamma function $Γ(q)$ and the digamma function $ψ(q)$ have many close connections on their definitions and properties. There are also many integrals, series or infinite product representations of them along the history. In this note, we try to provide a parallel story for the alternating Hurwitz zeta function (also known as the Hurwitz-type Eul…
The hyperharmonic numbers h_{n}^{(r)} are defined by means of the classical harmonic numbers. We show that the Euler-type sums with hyperharmonic numbers: σ(r,m)=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}((h_{n}^{(r)})/(n^{m})) can be expressed in terms of series of Hurwitz zeta function values. This is a generalization of a result of Mező and Dil. We also provide an explicit evaluation of σ(r,m) in a closed form in terms of zeta values and Stirling numbers of the first kind. Furthermore, we evaluate several other series involving hyperharmonic numbers.
We provide an explicit formula for the Tornheim double series in terms of integrals involving the Hurwitz zeta function. We also study the limit when the parameters of the Tornheim sum become natural numbers, and show that in that case it can be expressed in terms of definite integrals of triple products of Bernoulli polynomials and the Bernoulli function $A_k (q): = kζ'(1 - k,q)$.
We prove an Euler-Maclaurin formula for double polygonal sums and, as a corollary, we obtain approximate quadrature formulas for integrals of smooth functions over polygons with integer vertices. Our Euler-Maclaurin formula is in the spirit of Pick's theorem on the number of integer points in an integer polygon and involves weighted Riemann sums, using tools from Harmonic analysis. Finally, we also exhibit a classical trick, dating back to Huygens and Newton, to accelerate convergence of these Riemann sums.
We derive a closed formula for the determinant of the Hankel matrix whose entries are given by sums of negative powers of the zeros of the regular Coulomb wave function. This new identity applied together with results of Grommer and Chebotarev allows us to prove a Hurwitz-type theorem about the zeros of the regular Coulomb wave function. As a particular case, we obtain a new proof of the classical Hurwitz's theorem from the theory of Bessel functions that is based on algebraic arguments. In addition, several Hankel determinants with entries given by the Rayleigh function and Bernoulli numbers …
We consider some parametrized classes of multiple sums first studied by Euler. Identities between meromorphic functions of one or more variables generate reduction formulae for these sums.
We introduce a natural definition for sums of the form \[ \sum_{ν=1}^x f(ν) \] when the number of terms x is a rather arbitrary real or even complex number. The resulting theory includes the known interpolation of the factorial by the gamma function or Euler's little-known formula \sum_{ν=1}^{-1/2} \frac 1ν= -2\ln 2. Many classical identities like the geometric series and the binomial theorem nicely extend to this more general setting. Sums with a fractional number of terms are closely related to special functions, in particular the Riemann and Hurwitz zeta functions. A number of results about…
We show that integrals of the form \[ \dint_{0}^{1} x^{m}{\rm Li}_{p}(x){\rm Li}_{q}(x)dx, (m\geq -2, p,q\geq 1) \] and \[ \dint_{0}^{1} \frac{\ds \log^{r}(x){\rm Li}_{p}(x){\rm Li}_{q}(x)}{\ds x}dx, (p,q,r\geq 1) \] satisfy certain recurrence relations which allow us to write them in terms of Euler sums. From this we prove that, in the first case for all $m,p,q$, and in the second when $p+q+r$ is even, these integrals are reducible to zeta values. In the case of odd $p+q+r$, we combine the known results for Euler sums with the information obtained from the problem in this form, to give an est…
