Over a field of characteristic zero, we introduce two motivic operations on additive higher Chow cycles: analogues of the Connes boundary $B$ operator and the shuffle product on Hochschild complexes. The former allows us to apply the formalism of mixed complexes to additive Chow complexes building a bridge between additive higher Chow theory and additive $K$-theory. The latter induces a wedge product on additive Chow groups for which we show that the Connes operator is a graded derivation for the wedge product using a variation of a Totaro's cycle. Hence, the additive higher Chow groups with the wedge product and the Connes operator form a commutative differential graded algebra. On zero-cycles, they induce the wedge product and the exterior derivation on the absolute Kähler differentials, answering a question of S. Bloch and H. Esnault.
The goal of this paper is to establish fundamental properties of the Hochschild, topological Hochschild, and topological cyclic homologies of commutative, Noetherian rings, which are assumed only to be F-finite in the majority of our results. This mild hypothesis is satisfied in all cases of interest in finite and mixed characteristic algebraic geometry. We prove firstly that the topological Hochschild homology groups, and the homotopy groups of the fixed point spectra $TR^r$, are finitely generated modules. We use this to establish the continuity of these homology theories for any given ideal…
Using Bloch-Ogus theorem and Chern character from K-theory to cyclic homology, we answer a question of Green and Griffiths on extending Bloch formula. Moreover, we construct a map from local Hilbert functor to local cohomology. With suitable assumptions, we use this map to answer a question of Bloch on constructing a natural transformation from local Hilbert functor to cohomological Chow groups.
In this paper we extend Gazaki's results on the Chow groups of abelian varieties to the higher Chow groups. We introduce a Gazaki type filtration on the higher Chow group of zero-cycles on an abelian variety, whose graded quotients are connected to the Somekawa type $K$-group. Via the étale cycle map, we will compare this filtration with a filtration on the étale cohomology induced by the Hochschild-Serre spectral sequence. As an application over local fields, we obtain an estimate of the kernel of the reciprocity map.
We examine the tangent groups at the identity, and more generally the formal completions at the identity, of the Chow groups of algebraic cycles on a nonsingular quasiprojective algebraic variety over a field of characteristic zero. We settle a question recently raised by Mark Green and Phillip Griffiths concerning the existence of Bloch-Gersten-Quillen-type resolutions of algebraic K-theory sheaves on infinitesimal thickenings of nonsingular varieties, and the relationships between these sequences and their "tangent sequences," expressed in terms of absolute Kähler differentials. More general…
Making use of the recent theory of noncommutative motives, we prove that every additive invariant satisfies Galois descent. Examples include mixed complexes, Hochschild homology, cyclic homology, periodic cyclic homology, negative cyclic homology, connective algebraic K-theory, mod-l algebraic K-theory, nonconnective algebraic K-theory, homotopy K-theory, topological Hochschild homology, and topological cyclic homology.
We present a detailed computation of the cyclic and the Hochschild homology and cohomology of generic and 3-Calabi-Yau homogeneous down-up algebras. This family was defined by Benkart and Roby in their study of differential posets. Our calculations are completely explicit, by making use of the Koszul bimodule resolution and arguments similar to those used by the second and third authors for Yang-Mills algebras.
This is a reproduction of my thesis. By using higher K-theory(Chern character, cyclic homology, effacement theorem and etc), we provide an answer to a question by Green- Griffiths which says the tangent sequence to Bloch-Gersten-Quillen sequence is Cousin resolution.
We apply the classical technique on cyclic objects of Alain Connes to various objects, in particular to the higher Chow complex of S. Bloch to prove a Connes periodicity long exact sequence involving motivic cohomology groups. The Cyclic higher Chow groups and the Connes higher Chow groups of a variety are defined in the process and various properties of them are deduced from the known properties of the higher Chow groups. Applications include an equivalent reformulation of the Beilinson-Soulé vanishing conjecture for the motivic cohomology groups of a smooth variety $X$ and a reformulation of…
We prove $L_{\infty}$-formality for the higher cyclic Hochschild complex $\chH$ over free associative algebra or path algebra of a quiver. The $\chH$ complex is introduced as an appropriate tool for the definition of pre-Calabi-Yau structure. We show that cohomologies of this complex are pure in case of free algebras (path algebras), concentrated in degree zero. It serves as a main ingredient for the formality proof. For any smooth algebra we choose a small qiso subcomplex in the higher cyclic Hochschild complex, which gives rise to a calculus of highly noncommutative monomials, we call them $…
In this article we further the study of non-commutative motives. Our main result is the construction of a simple model, given in terms of infinite matrices, for the suspension in the triangulated category of non-commutative motives. As a consequence, this simple model holds in all the classical invariants such as Hochschild homology, cyclic homology and its variants (periodic, negative, ...), algebraic K-theory, topological Hochschild homology, topological cyclic homology, ...
We determine the product structure on Hochschild cohomology of commutative algebras in low degrees, obtaining the answer in all degrees for complete intersection algebras. As applications, we consider cyclic extension algebras as well as Hochschild and ordinary cohomology of finite abelian groups.
Let $A$ be a finite-dimensional smooth unital cyclic $A_\infty$-algebra. Assume furthermore that $A$ satisfies the Hodge-to-de-Rham degeneration property. In this short note, we prove the non-commutative analogue of the Bogomolov-Tian-Todorov theorem: the deformation functor associated with the differential graded Lie algebra of Hochschild cochains of $A$ is smooth. Furthermore, the deformation functor associated with the DGLA of cyclic Hochschild cochains of $A$ is also smooth.
We compute the Hochschild homology and cohomology, and cyclic homology, of almost Calabi-Yau algebras for SU(3) ADE graphs. These almost Calabi-Yau algebras are a higher rank analogue of the pre-projective algebras for Dynkin diagrams, which are SU(2)-related constructions. The Hochschild (co)homology and cyclic homology of A can be regarded as invariants for the braided subfactors associated to the SU(3) modular invariants.
In this article, using the recent theory of noncommutative motives, we compute the additive invariants of orbifolds (equipped with a sheaf of Azumaya algebras) using solely "fixed-point data". As a consequence, we recover, in a unified and conceptual way, the original results of Vistoli concerning algebraic K-theory, of Baranovsky concerning cyclic homology, of the second author with Polishchuk concerning Hochschild homology, and of Baranovsky-Petrov and Caldararu-Arinkin (unpublished) concerning twisted Hochschild homology; in the case of topological Hochschild homology and periodic topologic…
In this note, we show that the normalized Hochschild co--chains of an associative algebra with a non--degenerate, symmetric, invariant inner product are an algebra over a chain model of the framed little discs operad which is given by cacti. In particular, in this sense they are a BV algebra up to homotopy and the Hochschild cohomology of such an algebra is a BV algebra whose induced bracket coincides with Gerstenhaber's bracket. To show this, we use a cellular chain model for the framed little disc operad in terms of normalized cacti. This model is given by tensoring our chain model for the l…
We give a new construction of cyclic homology of an associative algebra A that does not involve Connes' differential. Our approach is based on an extended version of the complex ΩA, of noncommutative differential forms on A, and is similar in spirit to the de Rham approach to equivariant cohomology. Indeed, our extended complex maps naturally to the equivariant de Rham complex of any representation scheme Rep A. We define cyclic homology as the cohomology of the total complex (ΩA)[t], d+t \cdot i, arising from two anti-commuting differentials, d and i, on ΩA. The differential d, that replaces …
One of the predictions of the AdS/CFT correspondence is the matching of protected operators between a superconformal field theory and its holographic dual. We review the spectrum of protected operators in quiver gauge theories that flow to superconformal field theories at low energies. The spectrum is determined by the cyclic homology of an algebra associated to the quiver gauge theory. Identifying the spectrum of operators with cyclic homology allows us to apply the Hochschild-Kostant-Rosenberg theorem to relate the cyclic homology groups to deRham cohomology groups. The map from cyclic homol…
