We consider a higher dimensional gravity theory with a negative kinetic energy scalar field and a cosmological constant. We find that the theory admits an exact cosmological solution for the scale factor of our universe. It has the feature that the universe undergoes a continuous transition from deceleration to acceleration at some finite time. This transition time can be interpreted as that of recent acceleration of our universe.
On the basis of the qualitative analysis and numerical simulation of cosmological models with classical and phantom scalar fields with self-action there have been revealed and refined such models' distinctive features and potential possibilities for their usage as basic models in cosmology.
Introducing a variable cosmological function $Λ(t)$ in a geometrical manner from a 5D Riemann-flat metric, we investigate the possibility of having a geometrical criterion to choose a suitable cosmological function $Λ(t)$ for every 4D dynamical hypersurface capable of generate phantom cosmologies.
In this paper we investigate the asymptotic behavior of the cosmological model based on phantom scalar field on the ground of qualitative analysis of the system of the cosmological model's differential equations and show that as opposed to models with classical scalar field, such models have stable asymptotic solutions with constant value of the potential both in infinite past and infinite future. We also develop numerical models of the cosmological evolution models with phantom scalar field in this paper. {\bf keywords}: cosmological model, phantom scalar field, quality analysis, asymptotic b…
The paper provides a qualitative and numerical analysis-based investigation of cosmological models founded on an asymmetrical scalar doublet comprising of a classical and a phantom scalar fields. Presence of a phantom scalar field allows one to consider also classical scalar fields with attraction of like-charged particles which significantly extends a diversity of cosmological models' behaviours. It is shown that a cosmological model based on an asymmetric scalar doublet in the case of minimal interaction has 9 singular points 2 of which are attractive and the rest are non-stable saddle ones.…
In this paper, we consider a model of interacting phantom and Yang-Mills (YM) fields supposing the dilaton-type coupling. Making use of specific solution for YM equation previously found by the author, we obtain simple exact solutions for the accelerated expansion of FRW cosmological model. Besides, we derive the induced potentials of phantom field corresponding to some given regimes of expansion. The effective equation of state (EoS) have been reconstructed for all types of the models considered here.
Mathematical models describing the cosmological evolution of classical and phantom scalar fields with self-action are formulated and analyzed. Systems of dynamical equations in the plane, describing homogeneous cosmological models, have been obtained. It is shown that depending on the parameters of the field model, it is possible to violate the singly-connectedness of the phase space of the corresponding dynamical model.
In this paper we study the possibility of sustaining an evolving wormhole via exotic matter made of phantom energy in the presence of a cosmological constant. We derive analytical evolving wormhole geometries by supposing that the radial tension of the phantom matter, which is negative to the radial pressure, and the pressure measured in the tangential directions have barotropic equations of state with constant state parameters. In this case the presence of a cosmological constant ensures accelerated expansion of the wormhole configurations. More specifically, for positive cosmological constan…
In the present letter, we consider homogeneous and isotropic noncommutative cosmological models induced by a symplectic formalism coupled to phantom perfect fluids and a cosmological constant. After computing the field equations, we solve them to find the scalar factor dynamics. We restrict our attention to expansive solutions, that may represent the present expansion of our Universe. Those solutions generate {\it big rip} singularities. We study how the parameters, of those models, modify the time it takes to the scalar factor expands from zero till infinity, at the {\it big rip}.
A detailed comparative qualitative analysis and numerical simulation of evolution of the cosmological models based on the doublet of classical and phantom scalar fields with self-action. The 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional projections of the phase portraits of the corresponding dynamic system are built. Just as in the case of single scalar fields, the phase space of such systems, becomes multiply connected, the ranges of negative total effective energy unavailable for motion, getting appear there. The distinctive feature of the asymmetrical scalar doublet is the time dependency of the prohibit…
A detailed qualitative analysis and numerical modeling of the evolution of cosmological models based on nonlinear classical and phantom scalar fields with self-action are performed. Complete phase portraits of the corresponding dynamical systems and their projections onto the Poincaré sphere are constructed. It is shown that the phase trajectories of the corresponding dynamical systems can, depending on the parameters of the model of the scalar field, split into bifurcation trajectories along 2, 4, or 6 different dynamical flows. In the phase space of such systems, regions can appear which are…
In standard cosmology, with the evolution of the universe, the matter density and thermodynamic pressure gradually decreases. Also in course of evolution, the matter in the universe obeys (or violates) some restrictions or energy conditions. If the matter distribution obeys strong energy condition (SEC), the universe is in a decelerating phase while violation of SEC indicates an accelerated expansion of the universe. In the period of accelerated expansion the matter may be either of quintessence nature or of phantom nature depending on the fulfilment of the weak energy condition (WEC) or viola…
Form invariance transformations can be used for constructing phantom cosmologies starting with conventional cosmological models. In this work we reconsider the scalar field case and extend the discussion to fermionic fields, where the "phantomization" process exhibits a new class of possible accelerated regimes. As an application we analyze the cosmological constant group for a fermionic seed fluid.
We consider quantum modifications to phantom cosmology in a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker spacetime. The cosmological evolution equations improved by the renormalization group are obtained. For exponential potential, we find two types of cosmological fixed point; the renormalization group scale either freezes in, or continues to evolve with scale factor. We discuss the implications of each of these points, and investigate especially whether the big rip can be avoided. If the fixed point of renormalization group flow coincides with the cosmological fixed point, the universe will be dominated by da…
The paper deals with a dynamical system analysis related to phantom cosmological model . Here gravity is coupled to phantom scalar field having scalar coupling function and a potential. The field equations are reduced to an autonomous dynamical system by a suitable redefinition of the basic variables and assuming some suitable form of the potential function. Finally, critical points are evaluated, their nature have been analyzed and corresponding cosmological scenario has been discussed.
We perform a study both statistical and theoretical for cosmological models of matter creation and their ability to describe effective phantom models of dark energy. Such models are beyond the $Λ$CDM model since the resulting cosmic expansion is not adiabatic. In fact, we show that this approach exhibits transient phantom/quintessence scenarios at present time and tends to the standard cosmological model at some stage of the cosmic evolution. We discuss some generalities of the thermodynamics properties for this type of cosmological model; we emphasize on the behavior of the temperature associ…
A detailed comparative qualitative analysis and numerical simulation of evolution of the cosmological models based on classical and phantom scalar fields with self-action was performed. The phase portraits of the dynamic systems of classical and phantom fields and their projections to the Poincare sphere were constructed. It was shown that the phase trajectories of the corresponding dynamic systems can be split by bifurcation trajectories into 2,4 or 6 different dynamic streams corresponding to different pairwise symmetric histories of the Universe depending on the parameters of the scalar fie…
Recent determinations of the equation of state of dark energy hint that this may well be of the phantom type, i.e., $w_{de} < -1$. If confirmed by future experiments, this would strongly point to the existence of fields that violate the dominant energy condition, which are known to present serious theoretical difficulties. This paper presents an alternative to this possibility, namely, that the measured equation of state, $w_{de}$, is in reality an effective one, the equation of state of the quantum vacuum, $w_Λ = -1$, plus the negative equation of state, $w_{c}$, associated to the production …
We investigate the phase space dynamics of a bulk viscosity model in the Eckart approach for a spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. We have included two barotropic fluids and a dark energy component. One of the barotropic fluids is treated as an imperfect fluid having bulk viscosity, whereas the other components are assumed to behave as perfect fluids. Both barotropic fluids are identified as either radiation or dark matter. Considering that the bulk viscosity acts on either radiation or dark matter, we find that viscous phantom solutions with stable behavior are not allowed in …
We present a model of inflation where the inflaton is accommodated as a phantom field which exhibits an initial transient pole behavior and then decays into a quintessence field which is responsible for a radiation era. We must stress that the present unified model only deals with a single field and that the transition between two eras is achieved in a smooth way, so the model does not suffer from the eternal inflation issue. We explore the conditions for the crossing of the phantom divide line within the inflationary era along with the structural stability of several critical points. We study…
I discuss the dark energy characterized by the violation of the null energy condition ($\varrho + p \geq 0$), dubbed phantom. Amazingly, it is admitted by the current astronomical data from supernovae. We discuss both classical and quantum cosmological models with phantom as a source of matter and present the phenomenon called phantom duality.
Adopting the thin-layer improved brick-wall method, we investigate the thermodynamics of a black hole embedded in a spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. We calculate the temperature and the entropy at every apparent horizon for arbitrary solution of the scale factor. We show that the temperature and entropy display a non-trivial behavior as functions of time. In the case of black holes immersed in universe driven by phantom energy, we show that for specific ranges of the equation-of-state parameter and apparent horizons the entropy is compatible with the D-bound conjecture, even…

We study a recently proposed new cosmological phase where a scalar field moves periodically in an expanding spatially-flat Friedmann universe. This phase corresponds to a limiting cycle of the equations of motion and can be considered as a cosmological realization of a "time-crystal". We show that this phase is only possible, provided the Null Energy Condition is violated and the so-called Phantom divide is crossed. We prove that in general k-essence models: i) this crossing causes infinite growth of quantum perturbations on short scales, and ii) exactly periodic solutions are only possible, p…
We perform a detailed analysis on the dynamics of a Chiral-like cosmological model where the scalar fields can have negative kinetic terms. In particular, we study the asymptotic dynamics for the gravitational field equations for four different models in a spatially flat Friedmann--Lema\^ıtre--Robertson--Walker background space. When one of the scalar fields is phantom, we calculated that the cosmological fluid can evolves such that the parameter for the equation of state crosses twice the phantom divide line without the appearance of ghosts. Moreover, the cosmological viability of these four …
Simple scalar field cosmological models are considered describing gravity assisted crossing of the phantom divide line. This crossing or (de)-phantomization characterized by the change of the sign of the kinetic term of the scalar field is smooth and driven dynamically by the Einstein equations. Different cosmological scenarios, including the phantom phase of matter are sketched.
Starting from a five-dimensional (5D) vacuum theory of gravity where the extra coordinate is considered as noncompact, we investigate the possibility of inducing four-dimensional (4D) phantom scenarios by applying form-invariance symmetry transformations. In particular we obtain phantom scenarios for two cosmological frameworks. In the first framework we deal with an induced 4D de-Sitter expansion and in the second one a 4D induced model where the expansion of the universe is dominated by a decreasing cosmological parameter $Λ(t)$ is discussed.
There are a number of reasons to study wormholes with generic cosmological constant $Λ$. Recent observations indicate that present accelerating expansion of the universe demands $Λ>0$. On the other hand, some extended theories of gravitation such as supergravity and superstring theories posses vacuum states with $Λ<0$. Even within the framework of general relativity, a negative cosmological constant permits black holes with horizons topologically different from the usual spherical ones. These solutions are convertible to wormhole solutions by adding some exotic matter. In this paper, the asymp…
We consider the emergent universe scenario supported by a chiral cosmological model with two interacting dark sector fields: phantom and canonical. We investigate the general properties of the evolution of the kinetic and potential energies as well as the development of the equation of state with time. We present three models based on asymptotic solutions and investigate the phantom part of the potential and chiral metric components. The exact solution corresponding to a global emergent universe scenario, starting from the infinite past and evolving to the infinite future, has been obtained fo…
Scalar perturbations can grow during a phantomic cosmological phase as the big rip is approached, in spite of the high accelerated expansion regime, if the equation of state is such that $\frac{p}ρ = α< - {5/3}$. It is shown that such result is independent of the spatial curvature. The perturbed equations are exactly solved for any value of the curvature parameter $k$ and of the equation of state parameter $α$. Growing modes are found asymptotically under the condition $α< - {5/3}$. Since the Hubble radius decreases in a phantom universe, such result indicates that a phantom scenario may not s…
We perform a detailed analysis of the asymptotic behavior of a multifield cosmological model with phantom terms. Specifically, we consider the Chiral-Phantom model consisting of two scalar fields with a mixed kinetic term, while one scalar field has negative kinetic energy, that is, it has phantom properties. We show that the Hubble function can change sign, and we study the global evolution of the field equation in the finite and infinity regions with the use of Poincaré variables. We find that in the Chiral-Phantom model the limit of the quintessence scalar field is recovered while the cosmo…
We discuss the phenomenon of the smooth dynamical gravity induced crossing of the phantom divide line in a framework of simple cosmological models where it appears to occur rather naturally, provided the potential of the unique scalar field has some kind of cusp. The behavior of cosmological trajectories in the vicinity of the cusp is studied in some detail and a simple mechanical analogy is presented. The phenomenon of certain complementarity between the smoothness of the spacetime geometry and matter equations of motion is elucidated. We introduce a network of cosmological histories and qual…
We study noncommutative classical Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmological models. The constant curvature of the spatial sections can be positive ($k=1$), negative ($k=-1$) or zero ($k=0$). The matter is represented by a perfect fluid with negative pressure, phantom fluid, which satisfies the equation of state $p =αρ$ , with $α< - 1$, where $p$ is the pressure and $ρ$ is the energy density. We use Schutz's formalism in order to write the perfect fluid Hamiltonian. The noncommutativity is introduced by nontrivial Poisson brackets between few variables of the models. In order to recover a descrip…
In the present work, motivated by the work of Cai and Su [Phys. Rev. D {\bf 81}, 103514 (2010)], we propose a new type of interaction in dark sector, which can change its sign when our universe changes from deceleration to acceleration. We consider the cosmological evolution of quintessence and phantom with this type of interaction, and find that there are some scaling attractors which can help to alleviate the cosmological coincidence problem. Our results also show that this new type of interaction can bring new features to cosmology.
Motivated by the newly proposal for gravity as the effect of the torsion scalar $T$ and trace of the energy momentum tensor $\mathcal{T}$,we investigate the cosmological reconstruction of different models of the Universe. Our aim here is to show that how this modified gravity model, $f(T,\mathcal{T})$ is able to reproduce different epoches of the cosmological history. We explicitly show that $f(T,\mathcal{T})$ can be reconstructed for $Λ$CDM as the most popular and consistent model. Also we study the mathematical reconstruction of $f(T,\mathcal{T})$ for a flat cosmological background filled by…
We demonstrate that finite time singularities of Type IV can be consistently incorporated in the Universe's cosmological evolution, either appearing in the inflationary era, or in the late-time regime. While using only one scalar field instabilities can in principle occur at the time of the phantom-divide crossing, when two fields are involved we are able to avoid such instabilities. Additionally, the two-field scalar-tensor theories prove to be able to offer a plethora of possible viable cosmological scenarios, at which various types of cosmological singularities can be realized. Amongst othe…
The scalar and vector cosmological perturbations at all length scales of our Universe are studied in the framework of the phantom braneworld model. The model is characterized by the parameter $Ω_M\equiv M^3/2m^2H_0$, with $M$ and $m$ the 5- and 4-dimensional Planck scales, respectively, and $H_0$ the Hubble parameter today, while $Ω_M\rightarrow 0$ recovers the $Λ\rm CDM$ model. Ignoring the backreaction due to the peculiar velocities and also the bulk cosmological constant, allows the explicit computation of the gravitational potentials, $Φ$ and $Ψ$. They exhibit exponentially decreasing scre…
Based on the Lue-Starkman conjecture on the dynamical screening of the brane cosmological constant in the DGP scenario, we extend this proposal to a general DGP-inspired $F(R,ϕ)$ Model. We show that modification of the induced gravity and its coupling to a quintessence field localized on the brane, affects the screening of the brane cosmological constant and also phantom-like behavior on the brane. We extend our study to possible modification of the induced gravity on the brane and for clarification some specific examples are presented. As a result, phantom-like behavior can be realized in thi…
Phantom dark energy as a natural selection of evolutionary processes $\hat{\rm a}$ $\textit{la}$ $\textit{genetic algorithm}$ and cosmological tensions
We study the general features of the dynamics of the phantom field in the cosmological context. In the case of inverse coshyperbolic potential, we demonstrate that the phantom field can successfully drive the observed current accelerated expansion of the universe with the equation of state parameter $w_ϕ < -1$. The de-Sitter universe turns out to be the late time attractor of the model. The main features of the dynamics are independent of the initial conditions and the parameters of the model. The model fits the supernova data very well, allowing for $-2.4 < w_ϕ < -1$ at 95 % confidence level.
The effects of the gravitational back reaction of cosmological perturbations are investigated in a phantom inflation model. The effective energy-momentum tensor of the gravitational back reaction of cosmological perturbations whose wavelengths are larger than the Hubble radius is calculated. Our results show that the effects of gravitational back reaction will counteract that of the phantom energy. It is demonstrated in a chaotic phantom inflation model that if the phantom field at the end of inflation is larger than a critical value determined by the necessary e-folds, the phantom inflation p…
We analyse the emergent cosmological dynamics corresponding to the mean field hydrodynamics of quantum gravity condensates, in the tensorial group field theory formalism. We focus in particular on the cosmological effects of fundamental interactions, and on the contributions from different quantum geometric modes. The general consequence of such interactions is to produce an accelerated expansion of the universe, which can happen both at early times, after the quantum bounce predicted by the model, and at late times. Our main result is that, while this fails to give a compelling inflationary s…
The cosmological model with two phantom scalar fields with the special choice of field's potential is considered. The obtained regular solution describes a bounce with a subsequent transition to the de Sitter stage of the expansion of the Universe. This solution also could be interpreted as a S-brane solution.
We demonstrate two periodic or quasi-periodic generalizations of the Chaplygin gas (CG) type models to explain the origins of dark energy as well as dark matter by using the Weierstrass $\wp(t)$, $σ(t)$ and $ζ(t)$ functions with two periods being infinite. If the universe can evolve periodically, a non-singular universe can be realized. Furthermore, we examine the cosmological evolution and nature of the equation of state (EoS) of dark energy in the Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker cosmology. It is explicitly illustrated that there exist three type models in which the universe always stays …
In this paper we consider a spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmological model with cosmological constant, containing a stiff fluid and a classical Dirac field. The proposed cosmological scenario describes the evolution of effective dark matter and dark energy components reproducing, with the help of that effective multifluid configuration, the quintessential behavior. We find the value of the scale factor where the effective dark energy component crosses the phantom divide. The model we introduce, which can be considered as a modified $Λ$CDM one, is characterized by a set of p…
Domain wall, wormhole, particlelike, and cosmic string general relativistic solutions supported by two interacting phantom or ordinary scalar fields with 4th-, 6th-, and 8th-order potentials are studied. Numerical calculations indicate that regular finite energy solutions exist only for specific values of two free parameters of the potentials. By solving nonlinear eigenvalue problems for some fixed sets of values of the free parameters and of boundary conditions, it is shown that the presence or absence of the solutions depends on a particular symmetry of the problem, on the type of the scalar…
We study a higher dimensional cosmology with phantom field associated with a negative kinetic term. Assuming that the universe possesses the phantom field defined in $D$ dimensional spacetime, we investigate in detail the solutions involved in the higher dimensional phantom cosmology, to explicitly predict photon size and phantom field strength at present in nature. To be specific, we find that the photon size decreases drastically at the early stage of the universe after the Big Bang. Next we explicitly demonstrate the dependences of the photon size, universe size and phantom field strength o…
The effects of the gravitational back reaction of cosmological perturbations are investigated in a cosmological model where the universe is dominated by phantom energy. We assume a COBE normalized spectrum of cosmological fluctuations at the present time and calculate the effective energy-momentum tensor of the gravitational back-reactions of cosmological perturbations whose wavelengths at the time when the back-reactions are evaluated are larger than the Hubble radius. Our results reveal that the effects of gravitational back-reactions will counteract that of phantom energy sooner or later an…
In this paper we have investigated the cosmological dynamics of non-locally corrected gravity involving a function of the inverse d'Alembertian of the Ricci scalar, $f(\Box^{-1} R))$. Casting the dynamical equations into local form, we derive the fixed points of the dynamics and demonstrate the existence and stability of a one parameter family of dark energy solutions for a simple choice, $f(\Box^{-1} R)\sim \exp(α\Box^{-1} R)$. The effective EoS parameter is given by, $w_{\rm eff}=({α-1})/({3α-1})$ and the stability of the solutions is guaranteed provided that $1/3<α<2/3$. For $1/3<α<1/2$ and…
In this paper, we investigate the behavior of equation of state parameter and energy density for dark energy in the framework of f(T) gravity. For this purpose, we use anisotropic LRS Bianchi type I universe model. The behavior of accelerating universe is discussed for some well-known f(T) models. It is found that the universe takes a transition between phantom and non-phantom phases for f(T) models except exponential and logarithmic models. We conclude that our results are relativity analogous to the results of FRW universe.
We study the Vaidya black hole surrounded by the exotic quintessence-like, phantom-like and cosmological constant-like fields by means of entropic considerations. Explicitly, we show that for this thermodynamical system, the requirement for the identification of D-bound and Bekenstein entropy bound can be considered as a thermodynamical criterion by which one can rule out the quintessence-like and phantom-like fields, and prefer the cosmological constant as a viþable cosmological field.
We confront two types of phantom dark energy potential with observational data. The models we consider are the power-law potential, $V\propto ϕ^μ$, and the exponential potential, $V\propto \exp(λϕ/{M_P})$. We fit the models to the latest observations from SN-Ia, CMB and BAO, and obtain tight constraints on parameter spaces. Furthermore, we apply the goodness-of-fit and the information criteria to compare the fitting results from phantom models with that from the cosmological constant and the quintessence models presented in our previous work. The results show that the cosmological constant is …
The dynamics of interacting dark energy model in loop quantum cosmology (LQC) is studied in this paper. The dark energy has a constant equation of state $w_x$ and interacts with dark matter through a form $3cH(ρ_x+ρ_m)$. We find for quintessence model ($w_x>-1$) the cosmological evolution in LQC is the same as that in classical Einstein cosmology; whereas for phantom dark energy ($w_x<-1$), although there are the same critical points in LQC and classical Einstein cosmology, loop quantum effect reduces significantly the parameter spacetime ($c, w_x$) required by stability. If parameters $c$ and…
The aim of this paper is to reconstruct and analyze the stability of some cosmological models against linear perturbations in $f(\mathcal{G},T)$ gravity ($\mathcal{G}$ and $T$ represent the Gauss-Bonnet invariant and trace of the energy-momentum tensor, respectively). We formulate the field equations for both general as well as particular cases in the context of isotropic and homogeneous universe model. We reproduce the cosmic evolution corresponding to de Sitter universe, power-law solutions and phantom/non-phantom eras in this theory using reconstruction technique. Finally, we study stabilit…
We investigate de Sitter solutions in non-local gravity as well as in non-local gravity with Lagrange constraint multiplier. We examine a condition to avoid a ghost and discuss a screening scenario for a cosmological constant in de Sitter solutions. Furthermore, we explicitly demonstrate that three types of the finite-time future singularities can occur in non-local gravity and explore their properties. In addition, we evaluate the effective equation of state for the universe and show that the late-time accelerating universe may be effectively the quintessence, cosmological constant or phantom…
We study dynamics of the equation of state parameter for a dark energy component non-minimally coupled to induced gravity on a warped DGP brane. We show that there are appropriate domains of the model parameters space that account for crossing of the phantom divide line. This crossing, which is possible for both branches of the scenario, depends explicitly on the values of the non-minimal coupling and warp factor. The effect of warp factor appears in the value of the redshift parameter at which phantom divide line crossing occurs.
We consider a Tsallis holographic dark energy model with interaction between dark energy and matter. The density of dark energy is taken as $ρ_d \sim 3C^2/L^{4-2γ}$, where $C$, $γ$ are constants. The event horizon is chosen as the characteristic scale $L$. The cosmological dynamics of the universe are analyzed, with special attention paid to the possibility of crossing the phantom line $w_{eff}=-1$. It is shown that for certain values of parameters this may occur not only once, but also twice.
We here investigate a cosmological model in which three fluids interact with each other involving certain coupling parameters and energy exchange rates. The motivation of the problem stems from the puzzling `triple coincidence problem' which naively asks why the cosmic energy densities of matter, radiation and dark energy are almost of the same order of magnitude at the present time. In our model, we determine the conditions under triple interacting fluids will cross the phantom divide.
