We study how the properties of the four neutralino states, chi_i (i = 1, 2, 3, 4), can be investigated at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), in the case when the lightest one, chi_1, has a mass m_chi < 50 GeV and is stable. This situation arises naturally in supersymmetric models where gaugino masses are not unified at a Grand Unified (GUT) scale and R-parity is conserved. The main features of these neutralino states are established by analytical and numerical analyses, and two scenarios are singled out on the basis of the cosmological properties required for the relic neutralinos. Signals expected at LHC are discussed through the main chain processes started by a squark, produced in the initial proton-proton scattering. We motivate the selection of some convenient benchmarks, in the light of the spectroscopical properties (mass spectrum and transitions) of the four neutralino states. Branching ratios and the expected total number of events are derived in the various benchmarks, and their relevance for experimental determination of neutralino properties is finally discussed.
Assuming that the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) is the lightest neutralino, we present a detailed exploration of neutralino-stau coannihilation channels, including analytical expressions and numerical results. We also include neutralino coannihilations with the selectron and smuon. We evaluate the implications of coannihilations for the cosmological relic density of the LSP, which is assumed to be stable, in the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (CMSSM), in which the soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters are universal at the supergravity GUT scale. We…
We consider a model for neutralino dark matter candidates arising in anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking schemes, and examine its testability through the search for exotic cosmic rays produced by neutralino pair annihilations in the dark halo of the Galaxy. We find that the model is already constrained by available antiprotons and positrons measurements and may be further tested in upcoming measurements of these cosmic ray species. We show also that the monochromatic gamma-ray flux from neutralino annihilations is enhanced in this model up to two orders of magnitude with respect to alterna…
A recent cosmological bound on the gravitino mass, $m_{3/2}<4.7$ eV, together with LHC results on the Higgs mass and direct searches, excludes minimal gauge mediation with high reheating temperatures. We discuss a minimal, vector-mediated model which incorporates the seesaw mechanism for neutrino masses, allows for thermal leptogenesis, ameliorates the $μ$ problem, and achieves the observed Higgs mass and a gravitino as light as $1$-$2$ eV.
Various methods of searching for supersymmetric dark matter are sensitive to WIMPs with different properties. One consequence of this is that the phenomenology of dark matter detection can vary dramatically in different supersymmetric breaking scenarios. In this paper, we consider the sensitivities to supersymmetric dark matter of different detection methods and techniques in a wide variety of supersymmetric breaking scenarios. We discuss the ability of various astrophysical experiments, such as direct experiments, gamma-rays satellites, neutrino telescopes and positron and anti-proton cosmic …
Searches for supersymmetry are among the most exciting physics goals at Run II of the Tevatron. In particular, in supersymmetric models with light charginos, neutralinos and sleptons, associated chargino--neutralino production can potentially be observed as multi-lepton events with missing energy. We discuss how, in the generic TeV-scale MSSM, the prospects for these chargino-neutralino searches are impacted by cosmological considerations, namely the neutralino relic abundance and direct detection limits. We also discuss what an observation of chargino-neutralino production at the Tevatron wou…
We consider different patterns of supersymmetry breaking gaugino masses, and implications of these patterns for the phenomenology of neutralinos and charginos in models of low energy supersymmetry. We outline a general procedure for obtaining approximate values for the neutralino masses relevant for our analysis, and describe the constraints on the gaugino mass parameters which follow from the present experimental limits on the mass of the lightest chargino. We evaluate an upper bound on the mass of the lightest neutralino that follows from the structure of the mass matrix in different models …
We study the phenomenology of neutralino dark matter within generic supersymmetric scenarios where the Gaugino and Higgsino masses are much lighter than the scalar soft breaking masses (Split Supersymmetry). We consider a low-energy model-independent approach and show that the guidelines in the definition of this general framework come from cosmology, which forces the lightest neutralino to have a mass smaller than 2.2 TeV. The testability of the framework is addressed by discussing all viable dark matter detection techniques. Current data on cosmic rays antimatter, gamma-rays and on the abund…
The lightest neutralino, as the dark matter candidate, can be gravitationally captured by the Sun. In this paper, we studied the high energy neutrino signals from solar neutralino annihilations in the core of the Sun in the anomaly mediated supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking (AMSB) model. Based on the event-by-event monte carlo simulation code WimpSim, we studied the detailed energy and angular spectrum of the final muons at large neutrino telescope IceCube. More precisely we simulated the processes since the production of neutrino via neutralino annihilation in the core of the Sun, neutrino propag…
Neutralino dark matter is well motivated, but also suffers from two shortcomings: it requires gravity-mediated supersymmetry breaking, which generically violates flavor constraints, and its thermal relic density Ωis typically too large. We propose a simple solution to both problems: neutralinos freezeout with Ω~10-100, but then decay to ~1 GeV gravitinos, which are simultaneously light enough to satisfy flavor constraints and heavy enough to be all of dark matter. This scenario is naturally realized in high-scale gauge-mediation models, ameliorates small scale structure problems, and implies t…
In recent work, it has been argued that multi-TeV masses for scalar superpartners are not unnatural. Indeed, they appear to have significant phenomenological virtues. Here we explore the implications of such `focus point' supersymmetry for the dark matter problem. We find that constraints on relic densities do not place upper bounds on neutralino or scalar masses. We demonstrate that, in the specific context of minimal supergravity, a cosmologically stable mixed gaugino-Higgsino state emerges as an excellent, robust dark matter candidate. We estimate that, over a wide range of the unknown para…
We have considered neutralino to be the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) in the framework of minimal Anomaly Mediated Supersymmetric (mAMSB) model. We have studied variation of neutralino mass with the supersymmetric parameters. Considering these neutralinos to be the candidates for weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) or cold dark matter (CDM), we have calculated the neutralino nucleon scalar cross-sections and compared them with DAMA-NaI neutralino direct detection search results. From this study we observe that the mAMSB model results cannot explain the allowed region in WIMP ma…
We investigate the dark matter prospects of supersymmetric models with nonuniversal gaugino masses. We find that for very particular values of the ratio of soft supersymmetry-breaking gaugino masses, M2/M1, an enhanced coannihilation efficiency between the lightest chargino and the lightest neutralino occurs, allowing for scalars with masses well above the normally accepted limits for viable dark matter in the universal case. As a specific example, we investigate models of hidden sector gaugino condensation. These models exhibit high scalar masses, previously thought dangerous, and the requisi…
For non-universal gaugino masses, collider experiments do not provide any lower bound on the mass of the lightest neutralino. We review the supersymmetric parameter space which leads to light neutralinos, $M_\lsp \lsim {\cal O}(1\gev)$, and find that such neutralinos are almost pure bino. In light of this, we examine the neutralino lower mass bound obtained from supernova 1987A (SN1987A). We consider the production of binos in both electron-positron annihilation and nucleon-nucleon binostrahlung. For electron-positron annihilation, we take into account the radial and temporal dependence of the…
We show some phenomenological implications for the dark matter problem of a class of models with deflected anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking in the context of the MSSM. This scenario can be naturally embedded in a brane world model with one compactified extra dimension. It turns out that in these models the neutralino is still the LSP and so a good candidate as cold dark matter. We found that the neutralino is quite a pure bino in almost all the parameter space. Moreover we computed the thermal relic density and we found wide cosmologically allowed regions for the neutralino.
We perform a study of neutrinoless double beta ($0νββ$) decay mediated by the lightest neutralino of arbitrary mass in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) under the presence of R-parity violating trilinear interactions. In this scenario, the exchange of the lightest neutralino can result in $0νββ$ decay of either long-range or short-range behaviour, depending on the neutralino mass. Using nuclear matrix elements calculated in the Interacting Boson Model, we use an interpolation between the long- and short-range behaviours with an approximate formula. The non-observation of $0νββ$ …
In conventional models of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking, the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) is invariably the gravitino. However, if the supersymmetry breaking sector is strongly coupled, conformal sequestering may raise the mass of the gravitino relative to the remaining soft supersymmetry-breaking masses. In this letter, we demonstrate that such conformal dynamics in gauge-mediated theories may give rise to satisfactory neutralino dark matter while simultaneously solving the flavor and mu/ B mu problems.
We discuss the phenomenology of the lightest neutralino in models where an effective bilinear term in the superpotential parametrizes the explicit breaking of R-parity. We consider supergravity scenarios where the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) is the lightest neutralino and which can be explored at LEP2. We present a detailed study of the LSP decay properties and general features of the corresponding signals expected at LEP2. We also contrast our model with gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking.
We discuss neutrino parameters in addition with the effects of a Higgs boson of mass $\sim$ 125 GeV in Split Supersymmetry with Bilinear R-Parity Violation. This model allows for the explanation of neutrino masses and mixing angles, and has the gravitino as Dark Matter candidate. We find constraints on the parameters in the neutrino sector of the model by performing a numerical study of the parameter space, and by fitting neutrino oscillation observables and the Higgs mass. In addition, we study in detail the decay of the lightest neutralino in this model and we realize the importance of the e…
We extend previous analyses on the interplay between nonuniversalities in the gaugino mass sector and the thermal relic densities of LSP neutralinos, in particular to the case of moderate to large tan beta. We introduce a set of parameters that generalizes the standard unified scenario to cover the complete allowed parameter space in the gaugino mass sector. We discuss the physical significance of the cosmologically preferred degree of degeneracy between charginos and the LSP and study the effect this degree of degeneracy has on the prospects for direct detection of relic neutralinos in the ne…
The lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) is stable in an R-parity conserving theory. In this article the steps needed to calculate the present day mass density of such a particle are detailed. It is shown that there can be a cosmologically significant amount of LSP dark matter in the universe. Furthermore, relic abundance considerations put an upper bound on how large supersymmetry breaking masses can be without resorting to finetuning arguments.
Radiative neutralino decay $χ^0_2 -> χ^0_1γ$ is studied in a Split Supersymmetric scenario, and compared with mSUGRA and MSSM. This 1-loop process has a transition amplitude which is often quite small, but has the advantage of providing a very clear and distinct signature: electromagnetic radiation plus missing energy. In Split Supersymmetry this radiative decay is in direct competition with the tree-level three-body decay $χ^0_2 -> χ^0_1 f\overline f$, and we obtain large values for the branching ratio $B(χ^0_2 -> χ^0_1γ)$ which can be close to unity in the region $M_2 \sim M_1$. Furthermore,…
We show that in gauge mediation models where heavy messenger masses are provided by the adjoint Higgs field of an underlying SU(5) theory, a generalized gauge mediation spectrum arises with the characteristic feature of having a neutralino LSP much lighter than in the standard gauge or gravity mediation schemes. This naturally fits in a hybrid scenario where gravity mediation, while subdominant with respect to gauge mediation, provides mu and Bmu parameters of the appropriate size for electroweak symmetry breaking.
In the scenario recently proposed by Arkani-Hamed and Dimopoulos, the supersymmetric scalar particles are all very heavy, at least of the order of $10^9$ GeV but the gauginos, higgsino, and one of the CP-even neutral Higgs bosons remain light under a TeV. In addition to gluino production, the first SUSY signature would be pair production of neutralinos and/or charginos. Here we study, with explicit CP violation, the production of neutralinos and charginos at hadronic colliders as well as the possible decay modes. We notice that the branching ratio of the neutralino radiative decay can be sizab…
The LHC (CMS) discovery potential of the $e^{\pm}μ^{\mp} + E^{miss}_T$ signature in the search for supersymmetry and lepton flavour violation in neutralino decays is studied. A detailed study is done for the CMS test points LM1-LM9. It is shown that for the point LM1 it is possible to detect lepton flavour violation in neutralino decays with lepton flavour violating branching $Br(\tildeχ^0_2 \to μ^{\pm}e^{\mp}\tildeχ^0_1) \geq 0.04 Br(\tildeχ^0_2 \to e^{+}e^{-}\tildeχ^0_1, μ^{+}μ^{-} \tildeχ^0_1)$ for an integral luminosity $10 fb^{-1}$. A discovery potential in the mSUGRA-SUSY scenario with $…
We consider the production of chargino, neutralino and charged Higgs boson pairs at future linear colliders for c. m. energies in the one TeV range within the MSSM. We compute the leading (double) and next-to leading (linear) supersymmetric logarithmic terms of the so-called "Sudakov expansion" at one-loop level. We show that a combined analysis of the slopes of the chargino, neutralino, and charged Higgs boson pair production cross sections would offer a simple possibility for determining \tanβfor large (\gsim 10) values, and the parameters M_1, M_2, and μ. This test could provide a strong co…
We consider a supergravity (SUGRA) scenario, with universal scalar and gaugino masses at high scale, with a right-chiral neutrino superfield included in the spectrum. Such a scenario can have a lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) dominated by the right sneutrino and a stau as the next-to lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP). Since decays of all particles into the LSP are suppressed by the neutrino Yukawa coupling, the signal of supersymmetry consists in charged tracks of stable particles in the muon chamber. We demonstrate how a neutralino decaying into a tau and the stau-NLSP can be ful…
We consider the collider phenomenology of split-supersymmetry models. Despite the challenging nature of the signals in these models the long-lived gluino can be discovered with masses above 2 TeV at the LHC. At a future linear collider we will be able to observe the renormalization group effects from split supersymmetry on the chargino/neutralino mixing parameters, using measurements of the neutralino and chargino masses and cross sections. This indirect determination of chargino/neutralino anomalous Yukawa couplings is an important check for supersymmetric models in general.
We quantitatively explore, in the context of the D0 detector at the Tevatron, three very different techniques for observing delayed decays of the lightest neutralino of a simple gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking (GMSB) model to photon plus gravitino. It is demonstrated that the delayed-decay signals considered can greatly increase the region of general GMSB parameter space for which supersymmetry can be detected. In the simple class of models considered, the combination of standard supersymmetry signals and delayed-decay signals potentially yields at least one viable signal for nearly all …
We investigate the production of charginos and neutralinos at a 500 GeV e^+e^- collider (NLC) and study their decays to the lightest neutralino, which then decays into multi-fermion final states through couplings which do not conserve R-parity. These couplings are assumed to affect only the decay of the lightest neutralino. Detailed analyses of the possible signals and backgrounds are performed for five selected points in the parameter space.
The dark-matter prediction is usually considered as one of the successes of low-energy supersymmetry. We argue that, after LEP constraints are taken into account, the correct prediction for the dark-matter density, at a quantitative level, is no longer a natural consequence of supersymmetry, but it requires special relations among parameters, highly sensitive to small variations. This is analogous to the problem of electroweak-symmetry breaking, where the correct value of the Z mass is obtained only with a certain degree of fine tuning. In the general parameter space of low-energy supersymmetr…
Most ongoing supersymmetry searches have concentrated on the high-energy frontier. High-intensity fixed target beamlines, however, offer an opportunity to search for supersymmetric particles with long lifetimes and low cross-sections in regions complementary to the ones accessible to collider experiments. In this paper, we consider R-parity violating supersymmetry searches for the lightest neutralino and use the NuTeV experiment as an example for the experimental sensitivity which can be achieved.
We have analyzed the prospect of probing a non-universal gaugino mass model of mixed bino-higgsino dark matter at the current 7 TeV run of LHC. It provides cosmologically compatible dark matter relic density over two broad bands of parameters, corresponding to $m_{\gl} < m_{\sq}$ and $m_{\gl} \sim m_{\sq}$. The SUSY spectrum of this model has two distinctive features : (i) an approximate degeneracy among the lighter chargino and neutralino masses, and (ii) an inverted mass hierarchy of squark masses. We find that these features can be exploited to obtain a viable signal upto $m_{\gl} \sim$ 800…
In the N=1 supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model, neutralinos associated in supermultiplets with the neutral electroweak gauge and Higgs bosons are, as well as gluinos, Majorana fermions. They can be paired with the Majorana fermions of novel gaugino/scalar supermultiplets, as suggested by extended N=2 supersymmetry, to Dirac particles. Matter fields are not extended beyond the standard N=1 supermultiplets in N=1/N=2 hybrid supersymmetry to preserve the chiral character of the theory. Complementing earlier analyses in the color sector, central elements of such an electroweak scenario …
We investigated the viability of neutralino dark matter in the gauge mediation from emergent supersymmetry proposal. In this proposal, supersymmetry is broken at Planck scale and consequently, the gravitino is superheavy and completely decouples from the low energy theory. Squarks and sleptons obtain their soft masses dominantly through gauge mediation with other mechanisms highly suppressed. The lightest supersymmetric partner, in contrast to traditional gauge mediation, is a neutralino which is also a dark matter candidate. By explicit calculation of the low energy spectra, the parameter spa…
We present a refined and expanded analysis of the CDF $eeγγ+ \Et$ event as superpartner production, assuming the lightest neutralino is the lightest supersymmetric particle. A general low-energy Lagrangian is constrained by a minimum cross section times branching ratio into two electrons and two photons, kinematics consistent with the event, and LEP1-LEP130 data. We examine how the supersymmetric parameters depend on the kinematics, branching ratios and experimental predictions with a selectron interpretation of the event, and discuss to what extent these are modified by other interpretations.…
We derive the general upper bounds on the mass of the lightest neutralino, as a function of the gluino mass, in different supersymmetry breaking models with minimal particle content and the standard model gauge group. This includes models with gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking (SUGRA), as well as models with anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking (AMSB). We include the next-to-leading order corrections in our evaluation of these bounds. We then expand the mass matrix in powers of M_Z/mu, and find the upper bound on the mass of the lightest neutralino from this expansion. By scanning ove…
In this work, we propose a search for a single photon at \texttt{FASER} and \texttt{FASER2}, produced from decays of bino-like, sub-GeV lightest neutralinos in the theoretical framework of the R-parity-violating (RPV) Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We consider a list of representative benchmark scenarios with one or two non-vanishing RPV couplings. The photon has an energy $\mathcal{O}\left(0.1\right)-\mathcal{O}\left(1\right)$ TeV. We find a sensitivity reach for RPV couplings beyond the current bounds by orders of magnitude at \texttt{FASER} and \texttt{FASER2}.
In this paper we study the detectability of $γ$-rays from dark matter annihilation in the subhalos of the Milky Way by the satellite-based experiments, EGRET and GLAST. We work in the frame of supersymmetric extension of the standard model and assume the lightest neutralino being the dark matter particles. Based on the N-body simulation of the evolution of dark matter subhalos we first calculate the average intensity distribution of this new class of $γ$-ray sources by neutralino annihilation. It is possible to detect these $γ$-ray sources by EGRET and GLAST. Conversely, if these sources are n…
Gauge mediation provides us with a complete picture of supersymmetry breaking and its mediation within the effective field theories, and thus allows us to discuss consistencies with low-energy particle physics as well as cosmological observations. We study in detail the cosmological evolution of the pseudo-modulus field in the supersymmetry breaking sector and also the production of the gravitinos in the early Universe in a simple (but a complete) model of gauge mediation. Under fairly reasonable assumptions, it is found that there exists a parameter region where dark matter of the Universe is…
We compare the first results on searches for supersymmetry with the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to the current and near-term performance of experiments sensitive to neutralino dark matter. We limit our study to the particular slices of parameter space of the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension to the Standard Model where CMS and ATLAS exclusion limits have been presented so far. We show where, on that parameter space, the lightest neutralino possesses a thermal relic abundance matching the value inferred by cosmological observations. We then calculate rates for, and estimate the perfo…
We discuss the relic density of the lightest of the supersymmetric particles ({\small LSP}) in view of new cosmological data, which favour the concept of an accelerating Universe with a non-vanishing cosmological constant. The new bound on the Cold Dark Matter density, $Ω_{\mathrm{CDM}} h_0^2 \lesssim 0.22$, puts stringent constraints on supersymmetry preferring low supersymmetry breaking scales, in sharp contrast to electroweak precision measurements favouring large supersymmetry breaking scales. Supersymmetric predictions are in agreement with cosmological data and electroweak precision data…
We study gauge mediation models of supersymmetry breaking with neutralino LSP. These models are naturally realized by embedding the usual four-dimensional gauge mediation models into a higher-dimensional spacetime such as $M^4 \times S^1 / Z_{2}$. We calculate the relic abundance of the neutralino LSP in these models and show that there exist wide parameter regions where the neutralino LSP constitutes the dominant component of the cold dark matter. These regions evade constraints from collider experiments such as Higgs mass bounds and $b \ra s γ$, and also provide the value for the muon anomal…
We address the question of how light can be the lightest supersymmetric particle neutralino to be a reliable cold dark matter (CDM) particle candidate. To this end we have performed a combined analysis of the parameter space of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) taking into account cosmological and accelerator constraints including those from the radiative $b\rightarrow sγ$ decay. Appropriate grand unification (GUT) scenarios were considered. We have found that the relaxation of gaugino mass unification is sufficient to obtain a phenomenologically and cosmologically viable soluti…
The parameters of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model appear to require uncomfortably precise adjustment in order to reconcile the electroweak symmetry breaking scale with the lower mass limits on a neutral Higgs scalar boson. This problem can be significantly ameliorated in models with a running gluino mass parameter that is smaller than the wino mass near the scale of unification of gauge couplings. A "compressed" superpartner mass spectrum results; compared to models with unified gaugino masses, the ratios of the squark and gluino masses to the lightest superpartner mass are reduced. …
We consider the split extended (N=2) supersymmetry scenario recently proposed by Antoniadis et al. [hep-ph/0507192] as a realistic low energy framework arising from intersecting brane models. While all scalar superpartners and charged gauginos are naturally at a heavy scale, the model low energy spectrum contains a Higgsino-like chargino and a neutralino sector made out of two Higgsino and two Bino states. We show that the lightest neutralino is a viable dark matter candidate, finding regions in the parameter space where its thermal relic abundance matches the latest determination of the densi…
We investigate neutralino dark matter in supersymmetric flipped SU(5), focusing on candidates with masses of order 30 - 150 GeV and spin independent cross sections that are consistent with the most recent CDMS II results. We assume gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking and restrict the magnitude of the soft supersymmetry breaking mass parameters to 1 TeV or less. With non-universal soft gaugino and Higgs masses, and taking flipped SU(5) into account, we identify allowed regions of the parameter space and highlight some benchmark solutions including Higgs and sparticle spectroscopy.
We calculate ``relic abundances'' and ``detection rates'' of the neutralino (LSP) in string-inspired supergravity models with ``dilaton-moduli'' induced supersymmetry breaking. In particular we investigate ``universal'' scenarios for the soft-supersymmetry breaking terms from Calabi-Yau compactifications, as well as from the dilaton-dominated limit. ``Non-universal'' scenarios from orbifold string theory are also incorporated into the analysis. In all cases, in the cosmologically interesting region, we find $m_{LSP}\geq 50$ GeV and direct-detection rates in the range O($10^{-3}$ events/(Kg day…
SUSY/SUGRA models with naturalness defined via small $μ$ are constrained due to experiment on the relic density and the experimental limits on the WIMP-proton cross-section and WIMP annihilation cross-section from indirect detection experiments. Specifically models with small $μ$ where the neutralino is higgsino-like lead to dark matter relic density below the observed value. In several works this problem is overcome by assuming dark matter to be constituted of more than one component and the neutralino relic density deficit is made up from contributions from other components. In this work we …
The appearance of a natural dark matter candidate, the neutralino, is among the principal successes of minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) and its descendents. In lieu of a suitable ultraviolet completion, however, theories of gravity-mediated supersymmetry breaking such as mSUGRA suffer from arbitrary degrees of flavor violation. Though theories of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking are free from such prohibitive flavor violation, they typically lack natural neutralino dark matter candidates. Yet this conventional dichotomy breaks down when the hidden sector is strongly coupled; in models of gau…
The inclusion of trilinear R-parity violating couplings in a supersymmetric theory, has monumental impacts on the phenomenology. Regarding LHC physics, we no longer expect events with a lot of missing transverse energy, but events with large lepton and/or jet multiplicity. Here we present a study where the standard MSSM scenario of squark and gluino pair production and consequent cascade decay to the neutralino, is followed by a three-body decay of the neutralino through any of the 45 allowed trilinear R-parity violating operators. This allows us to study all these operators and detect any hie…
We review the direct detection of supersymmetric dark matter in the light of recent experimental results. In particular, we show that regions in the parameter space of several supergravity scenarios with a neutralino-nucleon cross section of order of $10^{-6}$ pb, i.e., where current dark matter detectors are sensitive, can be obtained. These are scenarios with large $\tan β$, with non-universal soft supersymmetry-breaking terms, with multi-TeV masses for scalar superpartners known as `focus point' supersymmetry, and finally scenarios with intermediate unification scale which appear naturally …
New version of MSSM scales is discussed. In this version mu << M_{SUSY} ~ M_0 \~ M_{1/2}, where mu is the Higgsino mass, M_0 is the mass scale of sleptons and squarks, M_{1/2} is the mass scale of gaugino. Renormalization group motivation of this MSSM version is proposed. Analysis of Split Supersymmetry ideas in this case together with the Dark Matter arguments results in the statement that the formation of residual neutralino concentration occurs in the high symmetric phase of cosmological plasma. The value of Higgsino mass is estimated. The recharging process for high energy neutralinos in t…
We study models in which supersymmetry breaking appears at an intermediate scale, M_{in}, below the GUT scale. We assume that the soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters of the MSSM are universal at M_{in}, and analyze the morphology of the constraints from cosmology and collider experiments on the allowed regions of parameter space as M_{in} is reduced from the GUT scale. We present separate analyses of the (m_{1/2},m_0) planes for tan(beta)=10 and tan(beta)=50, as well as a discussion of non-zero trilinear couplings, A_0. Specific scenarios where the gaugino and scalar masses appear to be uni…
Cosmology now provides unambiguous, quantitative evidence for new particle physics. I discuss the implications of cosmology for supersymmetry and vice versa. Topics include: motivations for supersymmetry; supersymmetry breaking; dark energy; freeze out and WIMPs; neutralino dark matter; cosmologically preferred regions of minimal supergravity; direct and indirect detection of neutralinos; the DAMA and HEAT signals; inflation and reheating; gravitino dark matter; Big Bang nucleosynthesis; and the cosmic microwave background. I conclude with speculations about the prospects for a microscopic des…
We compute corrections to precision electroweak observables in supersymmetry in the limit that scalar superpartners are very massive and decoupled. This leaves charginos and neutralinos and a Standard Model-like Higgs boson as the only states with unknown mass substantially affecting the analysis. We give complete formulas for the chargino and neutralino contributions, derive simple analytic results for the pure gaugino and higgsino cases, and study the general case. We find that in all circumstances, the precision electroweak fit improves when the charginos and neutralinos are near the curren…
The lightest neutralino in supersymmetry is the most studied dark matter candidate. This writeup reviews the status of neutralino dark matter in minimal and nonminimal supersymmetric models in light of recent null results at the XENON100 experiment and the observation of a 130 GeV gamma ray signal from the Galactic Center by the Fermi LAT.
A long-lived decaying dark matter as a resolution to Fermi, PAMELA and ATIC anomalies is investigated in the framework of split supersymmetry (SUSY) without R-parity, where the neutralino is regarded as the dark matter and the extreme fine-tuned couplings for the long-lived neutralino are naturally evaded in the usual approach.
