We consider a supergravity (SUGRA) scenario, with universal scalar and gaugino masses at high scale, with a right-chiral neutrino superfield included in the spectrum. Such a scenario can have a lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) dominated by the right sneutrino and a stau as the next-to lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP). Since decays of all particles into the LSP are suppressed by the neutrino Yukawa coupling, the signal of supersymmetry consists in charged tracks of stable particles in the muon chamber. We demonstrate how a neutralino decaying into a tau and the stau-NLSP can be fully reconstructed over substantial areas in the SUGRA parameter space. We also suggest event selection criteria for eliminating backgrounds, including combinatorial ones, and use a new method for the extraction of the mass of the stau-NLSP, using its three-momentum as obtained from the curvature of the charged track.
A study is presented illustrating the excellent potential of future International Linear Collider (ILC) experiments to detect metastable staus $\stau$, measure precisely their mass and lifetime, and to determine the mass of the gravitino $\sG$ from the decay $\stau\toτ\sG$, thus providing direct access to the gravitational coupling, respectively Planck scale.
Supersymmetric scenarios with a very weakly interacting lightest superparticle (LSP) - like the gravitino or axino - naturally give rise to a long-lived next-to-LSP (NLSP). In the case of a stau NLSP, the scenario shows up in a very prominent way at colliders. We present the LHC sensitivity for these classes of scenarios in the framework of simplified models. This allows for deriving robust limits on the masses of the lightest stau, the gluino and squarks.
In spite of rapid experimental progress, windows for light superparticles remain. One possibility is a ~100 GeV tau slepton whose t-channel exchange can give the correct thermal relic abundance for a relatively light neutralino. We pedagogically review how this region arises and identify two distinct scenarios that will be tested soon on multiple fronts. In the first, the neutralino has a significant down-type higgsino fraction and relatively large rates at direct detection experiments are expected. In the second, there is large mixing between two relatively light staus, which could lead to a …
We investigate the possibility of probing high reheating temperature scenarios at the LHC, in supersymmetric models where the gravitino is the lightest supersymmetric particle, and the stau is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle. In such scenarios, the big-bang nucleosynthesis and the gravitino abundance give a severe upper bound on the gluino mass. We find that, if the reheating temperature is \sim 10^8 GeV or higher, the scenarios can be tested at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of O(1 fb^{-1}) at \sqrt{s}=7 TeV in most of the parameter space.
We consider a supersymmetric (SUSY) scenario including right-handed neutrinos, one of whose scalar superpartners is the lightest SUSY particle (LSP). The distinguishing feature in the collider signal of SUSY in such a case is not missing energy but a pair of charged tracks corresponding to the next-to- lightest SUSY particle, when it is, as in the case considered, a stau. Following up on our recent work on neutralino reconstruction in such cases, we explore the possibility of reconstructing charginos, too, through a study of transverse mass distributions in specified final states. The various …
It was shown in a previous study that a lightest neutralino with mass below 30 GeV was severely constrained in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), unless it annihilates via a light stau and thus yields the observed dark matter abundance. In such a scenario, while the stau is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (NLSP), the charginos and the other neutralinos as well as sleptons of the first two families are also likely to be not too far above the mass bounds laid down by the Large Electron Positron (LEP) collider. As the branching ratios of decays of the charginos and the…
We investigate the signals of a supersymmetric scenario where the lighter tau-sneutrino is the lightest supersymmetric particle, while the lighter stau-state is the next lightest. We confirm that such a scenario can be motivated within the framework of minimal supergravity, with just the addition of a right-chiral neutrino superfield. Such a spectrum leads to rather unusual signals of supersymmetry, showing stable tracks of the stau in the muon chambers. We have studied two types of signals, namely, (a) two or more hard jets and two stau tracks, and (b) hard jets with two muons and two stau tr…
As the majority of LHC searches are focused on prompt signatures, specific long-lived particles have the potential to be overlooked by the otherwise systematic new physics programs at ATLAS and CMS. While in many cases long-lived superparticles are now stringently constrained by existing exotic searches, we point out that the highly motivated model of gauge mediation with staus as the next-to-lightest superparticle (NLSP) has received less attention. We recast LHC searches for heavy stable charged particles, disappearing tracks, and opposite-flavor leptons with large impact parameters to asses…
We consider SUSY extensions of the standard model where the gravitino is the dark-matter particle and the stau is long lived. If there is a significant mass gap with squarks and gluinos, the staus produced at hadron colliders tend to be fast (beta>0.8), and the searches based on their delay in the time of flight or their anomalous ionization become less effective. Such staus would be identified as regular muons with the same linear momentum and a slightly reduced energy. Compared to the usual SUSY models where a neutralino is the LSP, this scenario implies (i) more leptons (the two staus at th…
We perform an exhaustive study of the role neutrino telescopes could play in the discovery and exploration of supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model with a long-lived stau next-to-lightest superparticle. These staus are produced in pairs by cosmic neutrino interactions in the Earth matter. We show that the background of stau events to the standard muon signal is negligible and plays no role in the determination of the cosmic neutrino flux. On the other hand, one can expect up to 50 pair events per year in a cubic kilometer detector such as IceCube, if the superpartner mass spectrum an…
We study the phenomenology of a supersymmetric scenario where the next-to-lightest superparticle is the lighter stau and long-lived due to a very weakly coupled lightest superparticle, such as the gravitino. We investigate the LHC sensitivity and its dependence on the superparticle spectrum with an emphasis on strong production and decay. We do not assume any high-scale model for SUSY breaking but work along the lines of simplified models. Devising cuts that yield a large detection efficiency in the whole parameter space, we determine the LHC's discovery and exclusion potential. This allows us…
The collision of a high energy cosmic ray with a nucleon in the upper atmosphere could produce long-lived heavy particles. Such particles would be very penetrating, since the energy loss in matter scales as the inverse mass, and could reach a neutrino telescope like IceCube from large zenith angles. Here we study this possibility and focus on the long-lived stau of SUSY models with a gravitino LSP. The signal would be a pair of muon-like parallel tracks separated by 50 meters along the detector. We evaluate the background of muon pairs and show that any events from zenith angles above 80 degre…
We discuss ILC measurements for a specific MSSM scenario with CP phases, where the lightest neutralino, a candidate for dark matter, annihilates through t-channel exchange of light staus. These prospective ILC measurements are used to fit the underlying model parameters. A collider prediction of the relic density of the neutralino from this fit gives 0.116<Omega h2<0.19 at 95%CL.
We investigate the phenomenology of the gravitino dark matter scenario with a stau as the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle at the LHC. For a wide range of gravitino masses the lighter stau is stable on the scale of a detector and gives rise to a prominent signature as a "slow muon". The direct stau production via the Drell-Yan process is always present and independent of the mass spectrum of the other superparticles, thus providing a lower bound for the discovery potential of this scenario. Performing a careful analysis with particular emphasis on the criteria for observing stau pairs …
In supersymmetric models with a long-lived stau being the lightest Standard Model superpartner, the stau abundance during primordial nucleosynthesis is tightly constrained. Considering the complete set of stau annihilation channels in the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with real parameters for scenarios in which sparticle coannihilations are negligible, we calculate the decoupling of the lighter stau from the primordial plasma and identify processes which are capable to deplete the resulting stau abundance significantly. We find particularly efficient stau annihilation at the res…
We study the quantum mechanical correlation between two identical neutralinos in the decays of minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) scalar tau (stau) pair produced in e+e- annihilation. Generally, the decay products of scalar (spinless) particles are not correlated. We show that a correlation between two neutralinos appears near pair production threshold, due to a finite stau width and mixing of the staus and/or neutralinos, and because the neutralinos are Majorana. Because the correlation is significant only in a specific kinematical configuration, it can be observed only in supersymm…
This work investigates the possibility of a long-lived stop squark in supersymmetric models with the neutralino as the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP). We study the implications of meta-stable stops on the sparticle mass spectra and the dark matter density. We find that in order to obtain a sufficiently long stop lifetime so as to be observable as a stable R-hadron at an LHC experiment, we need to fine tune the mass degeneracy between the stop and the LSP considerably. This increases the stop-neutralino coanihilation cross section, leaving the neutralino relic density lower than what is…
We analyse the MSSM parameter space and discuss the narrow band near the so-called co-annihilation region where sleptons may be long-lived particles. This region is consistent with the WMAP restrictions on the Dark matter and depends on the value of $\tanβ$. In this region staus are long-lived and may go through the detector. Due to a relatively small mass (150 $÷$ 850 GeV) their production cross-section at LHC may reach a few % pb.
We have studied the detection of long-lived staus at the IceCube neutrino telescope, after their production inside the Earth through the inelastic scattering of high energy neutrinos. The theoretical predictions for the stau flux are calculated in two scenarios in which the presence of long-lived staus is naturally associated to viable supersymmetric dark matter. Namely, we consider the cases with superWIMP (gravitino or axino) and neutralino dark matter (along the coannihilation region). In both scenarios the maximum value of the stau flux turns out to be about 1 event/yr in regions with a li…
Supersymmetric Twin Higgs models have a discrete symmetry for which each Standard Model particle and its supersymmetric partner have a corresponding state that transforms under a mirror Standard Model gauge group. This framework is able to accommodate the non-discovery of new particles at the LHC with the naturalness of the electroweak scale. We point out that supersymmetric Twin Higgs models also provide a natural dark matter candidate. We investigate the possibility that a twin bino-like state is the Lightest Supersymmetric Particle and find that its freeze-out abundance can explain the obse…
We study the role neutrino telescopes could play in discovering supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model with a long-lived stau next-to-lightest superparticle. In such a setup, pairs of staus are produced by cosmic neutrino interactions in the Earth matter. In optimistic scenarios, one can expect several pair events per year in a cubic kilometer detector such as IceCube. We also show that no significant event rate can be expected for decays of staus stopped in the detector.
Future lepton colliders such as the CEPC and FCC-ee would run as high-luminosity $Z-$boson factories, which offer a unique opportunity to study long-lived particles which couple to Z-bosons. In order to exemplify this particular advantage, in this work we consider one benchmark physics scenario where the long-lived lightest neutralinos pair $(\tildeχ_1^0\tildeχ_1^0)$ is produced from $Z-$decays in the context of the R-parity violating supersymmetry. Our analysis indicates that when assuming BR$(Z\rightarrow \tildeχ_1^0\tildeχ_1^0) = 10^{-3}$ and $m_{\tildeχ_1^0} \sim 40$ GeV, the model paramet…
A scenario of the Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis is analyzed within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model which is consistent with a stau-neutralino coannihilation scenario to explain the relic abundance of dark matter. We find that we can account for the possible descrepancy of the abundance of $\mathrm{^{7}Li}$ between the observation and the prediction of the Big-Bang Nucleosynthesis by taking the mass of the neutralino as $300 \mathrm{GeV}$ and the mass difference between the stau and the neutralino as $(100 -- 120) MeV$. We can therefore simultaneously explain the abundance of the dark matt…
The stau-neutralino coannihilation provides a feasible way to accommodate the observed cosmological dark matter (DM) relic density in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). In such a coannihilation mechanism the stau mass usually has an upper bound since its annihilation rate becomes small with the increase of DM mass. Inspired by this observation, we examine the upper limit of stau mass in the parameter space with a large mixing of staus. We find that the stau pair may dominantly annihilate into dibosons and hence the upper bound on the stau mass ($\sim400$ GeV) obtained from the $…
Light neutralinos could be copiously produced from the decays of mesons generated in cosmic-ray air showers. These neutralinos can be long-lived particles in the context of R-parity violating (RPV) supersymmetric models, implying that they could be capable of reaching the surface of the earth and decay within the instrumental volume of large neutrino detectors. In this letter, we use atmospheric neutrino data from the Super-Kamiokande experiment to derive novel constraints for the RPV couplings involved in the production of long-lived light neutralinos from the decays of charged $D$-mesons and…
We performed an analysis on the detection of a long-lived slepton at a linear collider with $\sqrt{s}=500$ GeV. In GMSB models a long-lived NLSP is predicted for large value of the supersymmetry breaking scale $\sqrt{F}$. Furthermore in a large portion of the parameter space this particle is a stau. Such heavy charged particles will leave a track in the tracking volume and hit the muonic detector. In order to disentangle this signal from the muon background, we explore kinematics and particle identification tools: time of flight device, dE/dX and Cerenkov devices. We show that a linear collide…
We present a feasibility study, to search for dark matter at the LHC, in events with one soft hadronically decaying tau lepton and missing transverse energy recoiling against a hard $p_{T}$ jet from initial state radiation. This methodology allows the search for Supersymmetry in compressed mass spectra regions, where the mass difference between the lightest neutralino, $\tildeχ_1^0$, and the stau (the tau superpartner), $\tildeτ$, is small. Several theoretical models predict a direct connection between thermal Bino dark matter and staus within this scenario. We show that compressed regions, no…
Secondary photons from decays of metastable neutralinos can contribute to the ultra-high energy cosmic ray flux. The neutralino production rate is too low in acceleration mechanisms to affect the cosmic ray spectrum without emitting enormous energy in photons and neutrinos. However, in top-down models with sources not concentrated in galactic halos, neutralino decays change the spectrum significantly. We estimate the parameters of a model in which photons from neutralino decays are responsible for cosmic ray events with energies above 10^20 eV, and figure out distinctive experimental signature…
We discuss on the possibility that colliding dark matter particles in the form of neutralinos may be gravitationally boosted near the super-massive black hole at the galactic center so that they can have enough collision energy to annihilate into a stau pair. Since in some phenomenologically favored supersymmetric models the mass splitting between the neutralino and the lightest stau, one of the two scalar superpartners of the tau lepton, is a few GeVs, this channel may be allowed. In addition, staus can only decay into a tau lepton and another neutralino. We calculate the gamma-ray spectrum a…
We present the prospects of searches for neutral, long-lived particles which decay to photons using their time of arrival measured with a newly installed timing system on the electromagnetic calorimeter (EMTiming) of the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF). A Monte Carlo simulation shows that EMTiming can provide separation between decay photons from particles with both a long lifetime and a low boost, and prompt photons from Standard Model backgrounds. Using a gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking (GMSB) $\tildeχ_{1}^{0}\toγ\tilde{G}$ model we estimate a quasi-model-independent sensitivity us…
The $LQ\bar D$ operator in R-parity-violating supersymmetry can lead to meson decays to light neutralinos and neutralino decays to lighter mesons, with a long lifetime. Since the high-luminosity LHC is expected to accumulate as much as 3/ab of data, several detectors proposed to be built at the LHC may probe unexplored regions in the parameter space, for long-lived neutralinos. We estimate the sensitivity of the recently proposed detectors, CODEX-b, FASER, and MATHUSLA, for detecting such light neutralinos singly produced from $D$- and $B$-meson decays in a list of benchmark scenarios, and dis…
We analyze the prospects of observing lepton flavour violation in future e-e- and e+e- linear colliders in scenarios where the gravitino is the lightest supersymmetric particle, and the stau is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle. The signals consist of multilepton final states with two heavily ionizing charged tracks produced by the long-lived staus. The Standard Model backgrounds are very small and the supersymmetric backgrounds can be kept well under control by the use of suitable kinematical cuts. We discuss in particular the potential of the projected International Linear Collide…
``Top--down'' models explain the observation of ultra high energy cosmic rays (UHECR; $E \gsim 5 \cdot 10^{19}$ eV) through the decay of very massive, long--lived ``$X$ particles''. If superparticles with masses near a TeV exist, $X$ decays also lead to a significant flux of very energetic neutralinos, assumed to be the (stable or long--lived) lightest superparticles. There is a range of energies where neutrinos get absorbed in the Earth, but neutralinos can still traverse it. These neutralinos could in principle be detected. We calculate the detection rate in planned experiments such as OWL a…
In the framework of minimal flavor violation (MFV), we discuss the decay properties of a supersymmetric scalar top (stop) in the presence of a light gravitino. Given a small mass difference between the lighter stop and lightest neutralino and an otherwise sufficiently decoupled spectrum, the stop may be long-lived and thus can provide support to MFV at hadron colliders. For a bino-like lightest neutralino, we apply bounds from searches in the gamma gamma plus missing transverse energy channel (ATLAS with 1 fb^-1 and D0 with 6.3 fb^-1) and give a 5 fb^-1 projection for the ATLAS search.
In scenarios with a gravitino LSP, there exist strong BBN constraints on the abundance of a possible stau NLSP. We find that in settings with substantial left-right mixing of the stau mass eigenstates these constraints can be evaded even for very long-lived staus.
The differential cross section of the chargino-neutralino production, q qbar --> chi+- chi0, followed by their decays into scalar tau leptons, chi+- chi0 --> (stau+- nu)(stau-+ tau+-) --> (stau+- nu)(stau-+ l+- nu nubar), is calculated including the effect of spin correlations. In the case where stau is long-lived, this final state can be fully reconstructed in a hadron-collider experiment up to a discrete two-fold ambiguity. Distributions of various kinematic variables can thus be observable and tell us about masses and spins of superparticles and also parity/CP violation in interactions by c…
We investigate the collider signatures of heavy, long-lived, neutral particles that decay to charged particles plus missing energy. Specifically, we focus on the case of a neutralino NLSP decaying to Z and gravitino within the context of General Gauge Mediation. We show that a combination of searches using the inner detector and the muon spectrometer yields a wide range of potential early LHC discoveries for NLSP lifetimes ranging from 10^(-1)-10^5 mm. We further show that events from Z(l+l-) can be used for detailed kinematic reconstruction, leading to accurate determinations of the neutralin…
We describe a novel way to measure the mass of heavy, long-lived neutral particles that decay to photons using collider experiments. We focus on a Light Neutralino and Gravitino model in a Gauge Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking scenario where the neutralino has a long-lifetime (O(ns)) as it is not excluded by current experiments. To illustrate our method and give sensitivity estimates we use recent CDF results and a production mechanism where sparticles are produced via $ϕ_{i} \rightarrow \widetildeχ^{1}_{0} \widetildeχ^{1}_{0} \rightarrow (γ\widetilde{G})(γ\widetilde{G})$ in which $ϕ_{i}$ indi…
We consider light neutralinos of mass about 1 GeV, produced from $τ$ lepton rare decays at Belle II, in the context of R-parity-violating (RPV) supersymmetry. With large and clean samples of $τ$ leptons produced at the Belle II experiment, excellent sensitivity to such light neutralinos with the exotic signatures of displaced vertices is expected. We focus on two benchmark scenarios of single RPV operators, $λ'_{311} L_3 Q_1 \bar{D}_1$ and $λ'_{312} L_3 Q_1 \bar{D}_2$, which induce both the production and decay of the lightest neutralino. For the reconstruction of a displaced vertex, we requir…
We explore the possibility of having superpartners of triplet Higgs bosons, named as 'triplinos'. They form a part of light neutralinos and charginos in a $Y=0$ extended supersymmetric Standard Model. For this model such electroweakinos do not have direct couplings to the Standard Model fermions. On top of that, due to very compressed spectrum for lighter neutralinos and charginos, their decay products coming from three body decays are very soft and thus can evade the current collider bounds. These decays are particularly interesting since they give rise to displaced leptonic signatures. We ca…
Supersymmetry (SUSY) with a long-lived stau is an attractive scenario in the LHC experiments because one can directly observe stau tracks in each SUSY event, and thus precise measurements of SUSY particle masses are possible. In this scenario, we discuss the possibility to observe/measure parity violation in interactions among SUSY particles. Such a measurement will be important in determining spins and chiralities of SUSY particles. We use the last step of the cascade-decay chain: $χ^0\to\tildeττ\to\tildeτ(lν\barν)$, where the polarization of the tau lepton can be determined statistically by …
When the mass difference between the lightest slepton, the NLSP, and the lightest neutralino, the LSP, is smaller than the tau mass, the lifetime of the lightest slepton increases in many orders of magnitude with respect to typical lifetimes of other supersymmetric particles. These small mass differences are possible in the MSSM and, for instance, they correspond to the coannihilation region of the CMSSM for $M_{1/2} \gsim 700$ GeV. In a general gravity-mediated MSSM, where the lightest supersymmetric particle is the neutralino, the lifetime of the lightest slepton is inversely proportional to…
Charged Higgs production in association with staus in electron positron annihilation is a signal of supersymmetry with bilinear R-Parity violation. In this model, neutrino masses and mixing angles are generated due to mixing with neutralinos. We show how parameters related to neutrino physics can be determined at a $500 {\mathrm fb}^{-1}$ Linear Collider from measurements of charged Higgs and stau production cross sections and decay rates. This can be achieved in AMSB where charged Higgs and stau can have similar masses.
If produced at the LHC, long-lived charged particles (LLCPs) would leave tracks in the muon detector. Time-of-Flight based methods for detecting these particles become less efficient if the LLCPs are fast, which would typically be the case if they are produced in the decays of some mother particle which is either heavy or very boosted. Thus for example, in supersymmetric models with long-lived sleptons, the long-lived sleptons produced in neutralino decays are often fast, with beta above 0.95 even at a 7 TeV LHC. We propose to use the (mis-measured) invariant mass distribution of "muon"-lepton…
For gravitino dark matter with conserved R-parity and mass in the GeV range, very strong constraints from Big Bang Nucleosynthesis exclude the popular NLSP candidates like neutralino and charged sleptons. In this letter we therefore draw attention to the case of a sneutrino NLSP, that is naturally realised in the context of gaugino mediation. We find interesting collider signatures, characterised by soft jets or leptons due to the small sneutrino--stau mass splitting. Moreover, the lightest neutralino can have visible decays into staus, and in some part of the parameter space also into selectr…
In supersymmetric scenarios with a long-lived stau, the LHC experiments provide us with a great environment for precise mass measurements of superparticles. We study a case in which the mass differences between the lightest stau and other sleptons are about 10 GeV or larger, so that the decay products of heavier sleptons are hard enough to be detected. We demonstrate that the masses of neutralinos, sleptons, and squarks can be measured with a good accuracy.
We calculate dominant cross section contributions for stau pair production at hadron colliders within the MSSM, taking into account left-right mixing of the stau eigenstates. We find that b-quark annihilation and gluon fusion can enhance the cross sections by more than one order of magnitude with respect to the Drell-Yan predictions. These additional production channels are not yet included in the common Monte Carlo analysis programs and have been neglected in experimental analyses so far. For long-lived staus, we investigate differential distributions and prospects for their stopping in the c…
We show that the Li problems can be solved in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model where the slepton as the next-to-lightest SUSY particle is very long-lived. Such a long-lived slepton induces exotic nuclear reactions in big-bang nucleosynthesis, and destroys and produces the $^7$Li and $^6$Li nuclei via bound state formation. We study cases where the lightest SUSY particle is singlino-like neutralino and bino-like neutralino to present allowed regions in the parameter space which is consistent with the observations on the dark matter and the Higgs mass.
We investigate a class of models where the supergravity model with the standard model gauge group is extended by a hidden sector $U(1)_X$ gauge group and where the lightest supersymmetric particle is the neutralino in the hidden sector. We investigate this possibility in a class of models where the stau is the lightest supersymmetric particle in the MSSM sector and the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle of the $U(1)_X$-extended SUGRA model. In this case the stau will decay into the neutralino of the hidden sector. For the case when the mass gap between the stau and the hidden sector neut…
We consider the collider phenomenology of split-supersymmetry models. Despite the challenging nature of the signals in these models the long-lived gluino can be discovered with masses above 2 TeV at the LHC. At a future linear collider we will be able to observe the renormalization group effects from split supersymmetry on the chargino/neutralino mixing parameters, using measurements of the neutralino and chargino masses and cross sections. This indirect determination of chargino/neutralino anomalous Yukawa couplings is an important check for supersymmetric models in general.
Recently Gligorov $\textit{et al.}$ [arXiv:1810.03636] proposed to build a cylindrical detector named '$\texttt{AL3X}$' close to the $\texttt{ALICE}$ experiment at interaction point (IP) 2 of the LHC, aiming for discovery of long-lived particles (LLPs) during Run 5 of the HL-LHC. We investigate the potential sensitivity reach of this detector in the parameter space of different new-physics models with long-lived fermions namely heavy neutral leptons (HNLs) and light supersymmetric neutralinos, which have both not previously been studied in this context. Our results show that the $\texttt{AL3X}…
We present the prospects of searches for neutral, long-lived particles which decay to photons using their time of arrival measured with a newly installed EMTiming system at CDF. Using GMSB $\tildeχ_{1}^{0}\toγ\tilde{G}$ models we estimate the expected 95% confidence level exclusion regions as a function of the neutralino mass and lifetime. We find that a combination of single photon and diphoton analyses should allow the Tevatron in run II to easily extend the exclusion regions from ALEPH at LEP II, and cover parts of the theoretically favored $m_{\tilde{G}}$ < few keV/c^2 GMSB parameter space…
The addition of the QCD axion to the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) not only solves the strong CP problem but also modifies the dark sector with new dark matter candidates. While SUSY axion phenomenology is usually restricted to searches for the axion itself or searches for the ordinary SUSY particles, this work focuses on scenarios where the axion's superpartner, the axino, may be detectable at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the decays of neutralinos displaced from the primary vertex. In particular, we focus on the KSVZ axino within the hadronic axion window. The decay lengt…
