The torsion is shown to be vitally important in the explanation of the evolution of the universe in a large class of gravitational theories containing quadratic terms of curvature and torsion. The cosmological solutions with homogeneous and isotropic torsion in a model of de Sitter gauge theory of gravity are presented, which may explain the observation data for SN Ia when parameters are suitably chosen and supply a natural transit from decelerating expansion to accelerating expansion without the help of the introduction of other strange fields in the theory.
Fluctuations on de Sitter solution of Einstein-Cartan field equations are obtained in terms of the matter density primordial density fluctuations and spin-torsion density and matter density fluctuations obtained from COBE data. Einstein-de Sitter solution is shown to be unstable even in the absence of torsion. The spin-torsion density fluctuation is simply computed from the Einstein-Cartan equations and from COBE data.
Variation of the 4-D string cosmology action with dynamical torsion and massless dilatons lead to an expression of torsion in terms of massless dilatons in the case of de Sitter inflation. The solution is approximated according to the COBE data.

In the model of de Sitter gauge theory of gravity, the empty homogenous and isotropic spacetimes with constant curvature scalar and nonvanishing homogenous and isotropic torsion must have de Sitter metrics. The static de Sitter spacetime with static, O(3)-symmetric, vector torsion is the only spherically symmetric, vacuum solution with the metric of the form $g_{μν}={\rm diag}(A^2(r),-B^2(r),-r^2,-r^2\sin^2þ)$. The expressions of the torsion for different de Sitter spacetimes are presented. They are different from one to another. The properties of different de Sitter spacetimes with torsion ar…
Homogeneous isotropic spatial flat cosmological models with two torsion functions in vacuum are built and investigated in the framework of de Sitter gauge theory of gravity. It is shown that by certain choices of parameters of gravitational Lagrangian the cosmological equations have some exact constant solutions that turn out to be stable de Sitter critical points of dynamical systems and can explain observable acceleration of cosmological expansion. The role of the space-time torsion provoking the acceleration of cosmological expansion is shown.
A exact de Sitter-like cosmological solution of quadratic gravitation with torsion has been found. In the limit of constant energy and pressure, it becomes a exact de Sitter spacetime. It exists in a wide class of quadratic gravity theories and is the same in vacuum for all the models in this class, no matter how the coefficients of the quadratic terms in the Lagrangian are. It describes an accelerating universe and gives a cosmological constant which is of the order of magnitude of the observed value. In vacuum the universe is a de Sitter spacetime without torsion. When matter presents, howev…
Homogeneous isotropic models built in the framework of the Poincaré gauge theory of gravity (PGTG) based on general expression of gravitational Lagrangian without cosmological constant are analyzed. It is shown that the physical spacetime in the vacuum in the frame of PGTG can have the structure of flat de Sitter spacetime with torsion. Some physical consequences of obtained conclusion are discussed.
It is shown that all torsion-free vacuum solutions of the model of dS gauge theory of gravity are the vacuum solutions of Einstein field equations with the same positive cosmological constant. Furthermore, for the gravitational theories with more general quadratic gravitational Lagrangian ($F^2+T^2$), the torsion-free vacuum solutions are also the vacuum solutions of Einstein field equations.
It is shown that all vacuum solutions of Einstein field equation with a positive cosmological constant are the solutions of a model of dS gauge theory of gravity. Therefore, the model is expected to pass the observational tests on the scale of solar system and explain the indirect evidence of gravitational wave from the binary pulsars PSR1913+16.
Four classes of exact solutions of Einstein-Cartan dilatonic inflationary de Sitter cosmology are given. The first is obtained from the equation of state of massless dilaton instead of an unpolarized fermion fluid used previously by Gasperini.Repulsive gravity is found in the case where dilatons are constraint by the presence of spin-torsion effects. The second and third solutions represent respectively massive dilatons in the radiation era with the massive potential and torsion kinks and finally the dust of spinning particles.Primordial spin-density fluctuations are also computed based on Primo…
Axial vector torsion in the Einstein-Cartan space $U_{4}$ is considered here. By picking a particular term from the SO(4,1) Pontryagin density and then modifying it in a SO(3,1) invariant way, we get a Lagrangian density with Lagrange multipliers. Then considering torsion and torsion-less connection as independent fields, it has been found that $κ$ and $λ$ of Einstein-Hilbert Lagrangian, appear as integration constants in such a way that $κ$ has been found to be linked with the topological Nieh-Yan density of $U_{4}$ space.
Using the canonical formalism, we study the asymptotic symmetries of the topological 3-dimensional gravity with torsion. In the anti-de Sitter sector, the symmetries are realized by two independent Virasoro algebras with classical central charges. In the simple case of the teleparallel vacuum geometry, the central charges are equal to each other and have the same value as in general relativity, while in the general Riemann-Cartan geometry, they become different.
Criteria for the existence of de Sitter inflation with dilaton fields in four-dimensional space-times with torsion is discussed. The relation between matter density perturbation and the spin-density perturbation is stablished based on this criteria. From COBE data it is shown that there is a linear relationship between the spin-torsion density and temperature of the Universe for the case where matter density dominates the kinetic part of dilaton fields.
Decaying vacuum cosmological models evolving smoothly between two extreme (very early and late time) de Sitter phases are capable to solve or at least to alleviate some cosmological puzzles, among them: (i) the singularity, (ii) horizon, (iii) graceful-exit from inflation, and (iv) the baryogenesis problem. Our basic aim here is to discuss how the coincidence problem based on a large class of running vacuum cosmologies evolving from de Sitter to de Sitter can also be mollified. It is also argued that even the cosmological constant problem become less severe provided that the characteristic sca…
We investigate the models of cosmological inflation in generalized scalar-tensor gravity, which we consider as a source of deviation from de Sitter dynamics in the case of GR. Within the framework of the proposed approach, the exact equations of cosmological dynamics and parameters of cosmological perturbations are obtained.
In this note it is proposed a class of non-stationary de Sitter, rotating and non-rotating, solutions of Einstein's field equations with a cosmological term of variable function.
In this work the Poincare-Chern Simons and Anti de Sitter Chern Simons gravities are studied. For both a solution that can be casted as a black hole with manifest torsion is found. Those solutions resemble Schwarzschild and Schwarzschild-AdS solutions respectively.
In this paper, we show the equivalence between a classical static scalar field theory and the (closed) de Sitter cosmological model whose potential represents shape invariance property. Based on this equivalence, we calculate the one-loop quantum cosmological correction to the ground state energy of the kink-like solution in the (closed) de Sitter cosmological model in which the fluctuation potential $V^{\prime\prime}$ has a shape invariance property. It is shown that this type of correction, which yields a renormalized mass in the case of scalar field theory, may be {\it interpreted} as a ren…
A family of cosmological models is considered which in a certain synchronized system of reference possess flat slices t = const. They are generated from the Einstein-de Sitter universe by a suitable transformation. Under physically reasonable presumptions these transformed models fulfil certain energy conditions.
We continue the exploration of the consistency of a modified-gravity theory that generalizes General Relativity by including a dynamical torsion in addition to the dynamical metric. The six-parameter theory we consider was found to be consistent around arbitrary torsionless Einstein backgrounds, in spite of its containing a (notoriously delicate) massive spin-2 excitation. At zero bare cosmological constant, this theory was found to admit a self-accelerating solution whose exponential expansion is sustained by a non-zero torsion background. The scalar-type perturbations of the latter torsionfu…
Exact solution are obtained for a homogeneous spacially isotropic cosmological model in a matter free space with or without cosmological consant for a n-dimensional Kaluza-Klein type of metric in the rest mass varying theory of gravity proposed by Wesson[1983]. The behavior of the model is discussed.
We study the thermodynamic properties of high dimensional Schwarzschild de Sitter spacetimes with the consideration of quantum effects. It is shown that by considering the cosmological constant as a variable state parameter and adding an extra term which denotes the vacuum energy, both the differential and integral mass formulas of the first law of Schwarzschild de Sitter spacetimes can be directly derived from the general Schwarzschild de Sitter metrics in a simple and natural way. Furthermore, after taking quantum effects into account, we can see that the cosmological constant must decrease …
With the basic cosmological relations that agree with the recent observations, simple expressions are suggested concerning the value of cosmological constant($Λ$). A large contribution of quantum vacuum to the energy momentum tensor does not agree with the observed cosmos. However, one requires the presence of positive $Λ$ to make the various observations consistent. After a review of the effect of cosmological constant on the geodetic motions in the Schwarzschild de Sitter spacetime, some approaches to its solutions are briefly discussed. Also suggested is the very weak limit on $Λ$ from the p…
Starting from the Siklos waves in general relativity with a cosmological constant, interpreted as gravitational waves on the anti-de Sitter background, a new class of exact torsion waves is constructed in the framework of three-dimensional gravity with propagating torsion. In the asymptotic limit, the geometry of torsion waves takes the anti-de Sitter form. In the sector with massless torsion modes, we found a set of asymptotic conditions that leads to the conformal asymptotic symmetry.
A new cosmological model based on the de Sitter gauge theory (dSGT) is studied in this paper. By some transformations, we find, in the dust universe, the cosmological equations of dSGT could form an autonomous system. We conduct dynamics analysis to this system, and find 9 critical points, among which there exist one positive attractor and one negative attractor. The positive attractor shows us that our universe will enter a exponential expansion phase in the end, which is similar to the conclusion of $Λ$CDM. We also carry out some numerical calculations, which confirms the conclusion of dynam…
Due to a suitable Higgs mechanism, a standard Anti-de Sitter gauge theory becomes spontaneously broken. The resulting Lorentz invariant gravitational action includes the Hilbert-Einstein term of ordinary Einstein-Cartan gravity with cosmological constant, plus contributions quadratic in curvature and torsion, and a scalar Higgs sector.
We introduce novel Einstein spaces which are the {\it stationary analogs of de Sitter and ani-de Sitter} spacetimes. Having $Λ$ as their only parameter, the inherent anisotropy in these solutions appears as a dilemma if we treat the cosmological term as a constant background curvature. Since the cosmological term is an inseparable element of the current cosmological models, further development of these models as well as resolution of the problems related to this term, including any quantum aspect will crucially depend on the true nature of this term. These solutions, which to the best of our k…
We show that the study of hidden conformal symmetry that associates to the Kerr/CFT correspondence can also apply to the cosmological horizon in Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT-de Sitter spacetime. This symmetry allows one to employ some two dimensional conformal field theory methods to understand the properties of the cosmological horizon. The entropy can be understood by using the Cardy formula, and the equation for scattering process in the near region has an agreement with the one obtained from a two point function in two dimensional conformal field theory. We also show that pair production can occur…
Analysis of regular inflationary cosmological models with two torsion functions filled with scalar field with quadratic potential and ultrarelativistic matter is carried out numerically. Properties of different stages of regular inflationary cosmological solutions are studied, restrictions on admissible values of parameters and initial conditions at transition from compression to expansion are found. The structure of extremum surface in space of physical variables is investigated.
The "dark energy" problem is investigated in the framework of the Poincare gauge theory of gravity in 4-dimensional Riemann-Cartan space-time. By using general expression for gravitational Lagrangian homogeneous isotropic cosmological models with pseudoscalar torsion function are built and investigated. It is shown that by certain restrictions on indefinite parameters of gravitational Lagrangian the cosmological equations at asymptotics contain effective cosmological constant and can lead to observable acceleration of cosmological expansion. This effect has geometrical nature and is connected …
In this paper we generalize our previous results on spin connection for the linear scalar cosmological perturbation in $f(T)$ theory to wider class of theories which includes a scalar field $Φ$ non-minimally coupled to torsion, and allows $Φ$-dependence of the function $f$. The case of $f_{TT}=0$, with a scalar field non-minimally coupled to torsion needs a special treatment. In both considered cases we derive self-consistent equations of motion for cosmological perturbation using a solution for non-trivial spin connection.
In this paper, the dynamical attractor and heteroclinic orbit have been employed to make the late-time behaviors of the model insensitive to the initial condition and thus alleviate the fine-tuning problem in the torsion cosmology. The late-time de Sitter attractor indicates that torsion cosmology is an elegant scheme and the scalar torsion mode is an interesting geometric quantity for physics. The numerical solutions obtained by Nester et al. are not periodic solutions, but are quasi-periodic solutions near the focus for the coupled nonlinear equations.
We address the implementation of the cosmological principle, that is, the assumption of homogeneity and isotropy in the spatial distribution of matter in the Universe, within the context of Einstein-Cartan theory including minimal couplings of both Dirac and Maxwell fields to torsion. This theory gives rise to new physical effects in environments of high spin densities while leaving the vacuum dynamics unaffected. Our approach is to impose the cosmological principle from the onset to the geometrical degrees of freedom (metric and torsion functions), which constrains the torsion components and …
We investigate the possibility of having hairs on the cosmological horizon. The cosmological horizon shares similar properties of black hole horizons in the aspect of having hairs on the horizons. For those theories admitting haired black hole solutions, the nontrivial matter fields may reach and extend beyond the cosmological horizon. For Q-stars and boson stars, the matter fields cannot reach the cosmological horizon. The no short hair conjecture keeps valid, despite the asymptotic behavior (de Sitter or anti-de Sitter) of black hole solutions. We prove the no scalar hair theorem for anti-de…
We carefully investigate the modified Einstein's field equation in a four dimensional (3-brane) arbitrary manifold embedded in a five dimensional Non-Riemannian bulk spacetime with a noncompact extra dimension. In this context the Israel-Darmois matching conditions are extended assuming that the torsion in the bulk is continuous. The discontinuity in the torsion first derivatives are related to the matter distribution through the field equation. In addition, we develop a model that describes a flat FLRW model embedded in a 5-dimensional de Sitter or Anti de Sitter, where a 5-dimensional cosmol…
The study of gravitational waves in the presence of a cosmological constant has led to interesting forms of the de Sitter and anti-de Sitter line elements based on families of null hypersurfaces. The forms are interesting because they focus attention on the geometry of null hypersurfaces in space-times of constant curvature. Two examples are worked out in some detail. The first originated in the study of collisions of impulsive gravitational waves in which the post-collision space-time is a solution of Einstein's field equations with a cosmological constant, and the second originated in the ge…
We consider spatially homogeneous and isotropic cosmologies with non-zero torsion. Given the high symmetry of these universes, we adopt a specific form for the torsion tensor that preserves the homogeneity and isotropy of the spatial surfaces. Employing both covariant and metric-based techniques, we derive the torsional versions of the continuity, the Friedmann and the Raychaudhuri equations. These formulae demonstrate how, by playing the role of the spatial curvature, or that of the cosmological constant, torsion can drastically change the evolution of the classic homogeneous and isotropic Fr…
Recent studies suggest that the cosmological constant affects the gravitational bending of photons although the orbital equation for light in Schwarzschild-de Sitter space time is free from cosmological constant. Here we argued that the very notion of cosmological constant independency of photon orbit in the Schwarzschild-de Sitter space time is not proper. Consequently the cosmological constant has some clear contribution to the deflection angle of light rays. We stressed the importance of the study of photon trajectories from the reference objects in bending calculation, particularly for asy…
Poincaré Gauge's theory of gravity is the most noteworthy alternative extension of general relativity that has a correspondence between spin and spacetime geometry. In this paper, we use Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter and anti-de Sitter solutions, where torsion $τ$ is added as an independent field, to analyze the weak deflection angles $\hatα$ of massive and null particles in finite distance regime. We then apply $\hatα$ to determine the Einstein ring formation in M87* and Sgr. A* and determine that relative to Earth's location from these black holes, massive torsion effects can provide consider…
Heisenberg's nonperturbative quantization technique is applied to the nonpertrubative quantization of gravity. An infinite set of equations for all Green's functions is obtained. An approximation is considered where: (a) the metric remains as a classical field; (b) the affine connection can be decomposed into classical and quantum parts; (c) the classical part of the affine connection are the Christoffel symbols; (d) the quantum part is the torsion. Using a scalar and vector fields approximation it is shown that nonperturbative quantum effects gives rise to a cosmological constant and an Eucli…
We consider cosmological dynamics of nonminimally coupled scalar field in the scalar-torsion gravity in the presence of a hydrodynamical matter. Potential of the scalar field have been chosen as power-law with negative index, this type of potentials is usually used in quintessence scenarios. We identify several asymptotic regimes, including de Sitter, kinetic dominance, kinetic tracker and tracker solution and study conditions for their existence and stability. We show that for each combination of coupling constant and potential power index one of regimes studied in the present paper is stable…
The Event Horizon Telescope collaboration has revealed the first direct image of a black hole, as per the shadow of a Kerr black hole of general relativity. However, other Kerr-like rotating black holes of modified gravity theories cannot be ignored, and they are essential as they offer an arena in which these theories can be tested through astrophysical observation. This motivates us to investigate asymptotically de Sitter rotating black holes wherein interpreting the cosmological constant $Λ$ as the vacuum energy leads to a deformation in the vicinity of a black hole -- new Kerr--de Sitter s…
A viable model for inflation driven by a torsion function in a Friedmann background is presented. The scalar spectral index in the interval $0.92\lesssim n_{s}\lesssim 0.97$ is obtained in order to satisfy the initial conditions for inflation. The post inflationary phase is also studied, and the analytical solutions obtained for scale factor and energy density generalizes that ones for a matter dominated universe, indicating just a small deviation from the standard model evolution. The same kind of torsion function used also describes satisfactorily the recent acceleration of the universe, whi…
The weak field approximation in a model of de Sitter gravity is investigated in the static and spherically symmetric case, under the assumption that the vacuum spacetime without perturbations from matter fields is a torsion-free de Sitter spacetime. It is shown on one hand that any solution should be singular at the center of the matter field, if the exterior is described by a Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime and is smoothly connected to the interior. On the other, all the regular solutions are obtained, which might be used to explain the galactic rotation curves without involving dark matter…
We find a new exact vacuum solution in the framework of the Poincaré Gauge field theory with massive torsion. In this model, torsion operates as an independent field and introduces corrections to the vacuum structure present in General Relativity. The new static and spherically symmetric configuration shows a Reissner-Nordström-like geometry characterized by a spin charge. It extends the known massless torsion solution to the massive case. The corresponding Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter solution is also compatible with a cosmological constant and additional U(1) gauge fields.
In the context of the metric-affine Chern-Simons gravity endowed with projective invariance, we derive analytical solutions for torsion and nonmetricity in the homogeneous and isotropic cosmological case, described by a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric. We discuss in some details the general properties of the cosmological solutions in the presence of a perfect fluid, such as the dynamical stability and the emergence of big bounce points, and we examine the structure of some specific solutions reproducing de Sitter and power law behaviours for the scale factor. Then, we focus on first-ord…
Five dimensional Chern-Simons theory with (anti-)de Sitter SO(1,5) or SO(2,4) gauge invariance presents an alternative to General Relativity with cosmological constant. We consider the zero-modes of its Kaluza-Klein compactification to four dimensions. Solutions with vanishing torsion are obtained in the cases of a spherically symmetric 3-space and of a homogeneous and isotropic 3-space, which reproduce the Schwarzshild-de Sitter and $Λ$CDM cosmological solutions of General Relativity. We also check that vanishing torsion is a stable feature of the solutions.
It is shown that cosmological equations for homogeneous isotropic models deduced in the framework of the Poincaré gauge theory of gravity by certain restrictions on indefinite parameters of gravitational Lagrangian take at asymptotics the same form as cosmological equations of general relativity theory for $ΛCDM$-model. Terms related to dark matter and dark energy in cosmological equations of standard theory for $ΛCDM$-model are connected in considered theory with the change of gravitational interaction provoked by spacetime torsion.
The Einstein-conformally coupled scalar field system is studied in the presence of a cosmological constant. We consider a massless or massive scalar field with no additional self-interaction, and spherically symmetric black hole geometries. When the cosmological constant is positive, no scalar hair can exist and the only solution is the Schwarzschild-de Sitter black hole. When the cosmological constant is negative, stable scalar field hair exists provided the mass of the scalar field is not too large.
We outline the class of globally regular spherically symmetric solutions to the minimally coupled GR equations asymptotically de Sitter in the origin and asymptotically Schwarzschild at infinity. A source term connects smoothly de Sitter vacuum at the regular center with Minkowski vacuum at infinity and corresponds to anisotropic spherically symmetric vacuum defined macroscopically by the algebraic structure of its stress-energy tensor invariant under boosts in the radial direction. De Sitter-Schwarzschild geometry describes a vacuum nonsingular black hole which evolves, in the course of Hawki…
We construct Kaluza--Klein-type models with a de Sitter or Minkowski bundle in the de Sitter or Poincaré gauge theory of gravity, respectively. A manifestly gauge-invariant formalism has been given. The gravitational dynamics is constructed by the geometry of the de Sitter or Minkowski bundle and a global section which plays an important role in the gauge-invariant formalism. Unlike the old Kaluza--Klein-type models of gauge theory of gravity, a suitable cosmological term can be obtained in the Lagrangian of our models and the models in the spin-current-free and torsion-free limit will come ba…
A multidimensional cosmological model with space-time consisting of n (n>1) Einstein spaces M_i is investigated in the presence of a cosmological constant Lambda and a homogeneous minimally coupled free scalar field. Generalized de Sitter solution was found for Lambda > 0 and Ricci-flat external space for the case of static internal spaces with fine tuning of parameters.
I develop a physical picture of dark energy (DE) based on fundamental principles and constants of quantum mechanics (QM) and general relativity (GR) theories. It derives from a conjecture of non-zero masses for nearly standard-model photons, based on QM localization at a cosmological scale. Dark energy is associated with de Sitter space and that has a fundamentally invariant event horizon. I conceive of DE as a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) of cosmologically massive photons and I estimate fundamentally the binding energy per particle originating from an effectively attractive QM potential in …
Hawking's radiation effect of Klein-Gordon scalar field, Dirac particles and Maxwell's electromagnetic field in the non-stationary rotating de Sitter cosmological space-time is investigated by using a method of generalized tortoise co-ordinates transformation. The locations and the temperatures of the cosmological horizons of the non-stationary rotating de Sitter model are derived. It is found that the locations and the temperatures of the rotating cosmological model depend not only on the time but also on the angle. The stress-energy regularization techniques are applied to the two dimensiona…
We compute the self-force acting on an electric charge at rest in Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetimes, allowing the cosmological constant to be either positive or negative. In the case of a positive cosmological constant, we show that the self-force is always positive, representing a repulsion from the black hole, and monotonically decreasing with increasing distance from the black hole. The spectrum of results is richer in the case of a negative cosmological constant. Here the self-force is not always positive --- it is negative when the black-hole and cosmological scales are comparable and th…
The requirements are formulated which lead to the existence of the class of globally regular solutions to the minimally coupled GR equations which are asymptotically de Sitter at the center. The brief review of the resulting geometry is presented. The source term, invariant under radial boots, is classified as spherically symmetric vacuum with variable density and pressure, associated with an r-dependent cosmological term, whose asymptotic in the origin, dictated by the weak energy condition, is the Einstein cosmological term. For this class of metrics the ADM mass is related to both de Sitter…
A spacetime consisting of parallel electric/magnetic fields held together by its own gravity in the presence of a cosmological constant $Λ$ is derived as a limit of the de Sitter/anti-de Sitter C-metric. The limiting procedure is similar to the $Λ=0$ case where the Melvin universe is derived from the C-metric. Under an appropriate coordinate transformation, we show that this solution is equivalent to the solution obtained by Astorino. Some physical and geometrical properties of the solution are studied, as well as its geodesics. For $Λ<0$, the solution is asymptotically locally anti-de Sitter,…
