The Polyakov loop extended Nambu and Jona-Lasinio model (PNJL model) in a mean field framework shows astonishingly good agreement with lattice QCD calculations which needs to be better understood. The present work reports on further developments concerning both Polyakov loop and mesonic fluctuations beyond mean field approximation. Corrections beyond mean field are of special interest for the thermal expectation values of the Polyakov loop $Φ$ and its conjugate $Φ^*$, which differ once the quark chemical potential is non-zero. Mesonic fluctuations are also considered with emphasis on the role of pionic modes.
In this paper, the deconfinement and chiral restoration transitions in strong magnetic field is realized at zero temperature in the Polyakov Nambu$-$Jona-Lasinio model. We provide the thermodynamic treatment to mimic the deconfinement phase transition at zero temperature together with the entangled scalar and vector interactions coupled with the Polyakov loop. The magnetic catalysis is found by a rising behavior of the critical chemical potential for the first-order deconfinement phase transition. While the magnetic catalysis on the chiral restoration could convert to inverse magnetic catalysi…
The confinement/deconfinement transition described the Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model is extended to be operative at zero temperature regime. In this study, the scalar and vector channel interaction strengths of the original PNJL model are modified by introducing a dependence on the traced Polyakov loop. In such a way the effective interactions depend on the quark phase and in turn provides a backreaction of the quarks to the gluonic sector, also at zero temperature. On general grounds from quantum chromodynamics this is an expected feature. The thermodynamics of the extended model (…
We propose a three-flavor version of the Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasino (PNJL) model at zero temperature regime, by implementing a traced Polyakov loop ($Φ$) dependence in the scalar, vector and 't Hooft channel strengths. We study the thermodynamics of this model, named as PNJL0, with special attention for the first order confinement/deconfinement phase transition for which $Φ$ is the order parameter. For the symmetric quark matter case, an interesting feature observed is a strong reduction of the constituent strange quark mass ($M_s$) at the chemical potential related to point where deconfinemen…
We study the features of a SU(2) Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model that includes wave function renormalization and nonlocal vector interactions. Within this framework we analyze, among other properties, the masses, width and decay constants of light vector and axial-vector mesons at finite temperature. Then we obtain the corresponding phase diagram in a finite density scenario, after characterizing the deconfinement and chiral restoration transitions.
In this work, we explore the possible existence of several critical endpoints in the phase diagram of strongly interacting matter using an extended PNJL model with 't Hooft determinant and eight quark interactions in the up, down and strange sectors. Besides, we also study the isentropic trajectories crossing both (light and strange) chiral phase transitions and around the critical endpoint in both the crossover and first-order transition regions.
Deconfinement and chiral restoration within the SU(3) Polyakov--Nambu--Jona-Lasinio and entangled Polyakov--Nambu--Jona-Lasinio models in an external magnetic field
Various thermodynamic quantities and the phase diagram of strongly interacting hot and dense magnetized quark matter are obtained with the $ 2 $-flavour Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with Polyakov loop considering finite values of the anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of the quarks. Susceptibilities associated with constituent quark mass and traced Polyakov loop are used to evaluate chiral and deconfinement transition temperatures. It is found that, inclusion of the AMM of the quarks in presence of the background magnetic field results in a substantial decrease in the chiral as well as deconfinement …
We estimate the axion properties i.e. its mass, topological susceptibility and the self-coupling within the framework of Polyakov loop enhanced Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model at finite temperature and quark chemical potential. PNJL model, where quarks couple simultaneously to the chiral condensate and to a background temporal quantum chromodynamics (QCD) gauge field, includes two important features of QCD phase transition, i.e. deconfinement and chiral symmetry restoration. The Polyakov loop in PNJL model plays an important role near the critical temperature. We have shown significant differe…
Dilepton production from hot, dense and magnetized quark matter is studied using the three-flavor Polyakov loop extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model in which the anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of the quarks is also taken into consideration. This is done by first evaluating the thermo-magnetic spectral function of the vector current correlator employing the real time formalism of finite temperature field theory and the Schwinger proper time formalism. The constituent quark mass which goes as an input in the expression of the dilepton production rate (DPR), has been calculated using the th…

The effect of quark anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) to chiral restoration and deconfinement phase transitions under magnetic fields is investigated in a Pauli-Villars regularized PNJL model. A linear-in-$B$ term for quark anomalous magnetic moment is introduced to the Lagrangian density of our model, and it plays the role of inverse catalysis to the phase transitions. With fixed magnetic field, the critical temperature decreases with quark AMM. When fixing quark AMM, the critical temperature increases with magnetic field for a small quark AMM, but decreases with magnetic field for a large quar…
We investigate the phase structure of strongly interacting matter and baryon number fluctuations in the Polyakov loop improved Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model. The calculation shows that both the chiral and deconfinement transitions, as well as their coincidence and separation determine the basic QCD phase structure. The contour maps and the three-dimensional diagrams of the net-baryon kurtosis and skewness present well the trace of QCD phase structure. Comparing with the experimental data, we find that the existence of a critical end point (CEP) of chiral transition is crucial to explain the…
We investigate rotating effect on deconfinement phase transition in an Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton(EMD) model in bottom-up holographic QCD approach. By constructing a rotating black hole, which is supposed to be dual to rotating strongly coupled nuclear matter, we investigate the thermodynamic quantities, including entropy density, pressure, energy density, trace anomaly, sound speed and specific heat for both pure gluon system and two-flavor system under rotation. It is shown that those thermodynamic quantities would be enhanced by large angular velocity. Also, we extract the information of phas…
The effect of quark anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) to chiral restoration and deconfinement phase transitions in baryon chemical potential-temperature $(μ_B-T)$ plane under magnetic fields is investigated in frame of a Pauli-Villars regularized PNJL model. It's found that the quark AMM plays the role of inverse catalysis to the phase transitions, and large quark AMM will change the magnetic catalysis phenomena of phase transitions to inverse magnetic catalysis in the whole $μ_B-T$ plane. For a fixed magnetic field, the critical temperature $T_c$ and critical baryon chemical potential $μ_B^c$ d…
Chiral and deconfinement phase transitions at finite temperature $T$ and quark number chemical potential $μ$ are simultaneously studied in the quenched dynamical holographic QCD model within the Einstein-Dilaton-Maxwell framework. By calculating the corresponding order parameters, i.e., the chiral condensate and Polyakov loop, it is shown that the transition lines of these two phase transitions are separated in the $T-μ$ plane. The deconfinement phase transition is shown to be always of crossover type and the transition line depends weakly on the baryon number density. Differently, the chiral …
