We investigate the automorphism group of the quantised enveloping algebra U of the positive nilpotent part of certain simple complex Lie algebras g in the case where the deformation parameter q \in \mathbb{C}^* is not a root of unity. Studying its action on the set of minimal primitive ideals of U we compute this group in the cases where g=sl_3 and g=so_5 confirming a Conjecture of Andruskiewitsch and Dumas regarding the automorphism group of U. In the case where g=sl_3, we retrieve the description of the automorphism group of the quantum Heisenberg algebra that was obtained independently by Alev and Dumas, and Caldero. In the case where g=so_5, the automorphism group of U was computed in [16] by using previous results of Andruskiewitsch and Dumas. In this paper, we give a new (simpler) proof of the Conjecture of Andruskiewitsch and Dumas in the case where g=so_5 based both on the original proof and on graded arguments developed in [17] and [18].
In this paper we study the isomorphism problem for the universal enveloping algebras of nilpotent Lie algebras. We prove that if the characteristic of the underlying field is not~2 or~3, then the isomorphism type of a nilpotent Lie algebra of dimension at most~6 is determined by the isomorphism type of its universal enveloping algebra. Examples show that the restriction on the characteristic is necessary.
We study general properties of quantisations of Slodowy slices and discuss in detail the case of the minimal nilpotent orbit. Associated varieties of related primitive ideals of U(g) are determined, in the general case, and the de Vos-van Driel conjecture on Verma modules for finite W-algebras is proved in the minimal nilpotent case.
Perez-Izquierdo and Shestakov recently extended the PBW theorem to Malcev algebras. It follows from their construction that for any Malcev algebra $M$ over a field of characteristic $\ne 2, 3$ there is a representation of the universal nonassociative enveloping algebra $U(M)$ by linear operators on the polynomial algebra $P(M)$. For the nilpotent non-Lie Malcev algebra $\mathbb{M}$ of dimension 5, we use this representation to determine explicit structure constants for $U(\mathbb{M})$; from this it follows that $U(\mathbb{M})$ is not power-associative. We obtain a finite set of generators for …
Let L be a restricted Lie superalgebra with its enveloping algebra u(L) over a field F of characteristic p>2. A polynomial identity is called non-matrix if it is not satisfied by the algebra of 2\times 2 matrices over F. We characterize L when u(L) satisfies a non-matrix polynomial identity. In particular, we characterize L when u(L) is Lie solvable, Lie nilpotent, or Lie super-nilpotent.
We describe the centers of the universal enveloping algebras of nilpotent Lie algebras of dimension at most six over fields of prime characteristic. If the characteristic is not smaller than the nilpontency class, then the center is the integral closure of the algebra generated over the $p$-center by the same generators that also occur in characteristic zero. Except for three examples (two of which are standard filiform), this algebra is already integrally closed and hence it coincides with the center. In the case of these three exceptional algebras, the center has further generators. Then we …
We study the problem of the existence of filtered multiplicative bases of a restricted enveloping algebra u(L), where L is a finite-dimensional and p-nilpotent restricted Lie algebra over a field of positive characteristic p.
Let $r,s$ be two parameters chosen from $\C^{\ast}$ such that $r^{m}s^{n}=1$ implies $m=n=0$. We compute the derivations of the two-parameter quantized enveloping algebra $\U$ and calculate its first degree Hochschild cohomology group. We further determine the group of algebra automorphisms for the two-parameter Hopf algebra $\V$. As a result, we determine the group of Hopf algebra automorphisms for $\V$.
Let $L$ and $H$ be finite-dimensional restricted Lie algebras over a perfect field $\F$ such that $u(L)\cong u(H)$, where $u(L)$ is the restricted enveloping algebra of $L$. We prove that if $L$ is $p$-nilpotent and abelian, then $L\cong H$. We deduce that if $L$ is abelian and $\F$ is algebraically closed, then $L\cong H$. We use these results to prove the main result of this paper stating that if $L$ is $p$-nilpotent, then $L/L'^p+γ_3(L)\cong H/H'^p+γ_3(H)$.
Automorphisms of algebras $R$ from a very large axiomatic class of quantum nilpotent algebras are studied using techniques from noncommutative unique factorization domains and quantum cluster algebras. First, the Nakayama automorphism of $R$ (associated to its structure as a twisted Calabi-Yau algebra) is determined and shown to be given by conjugation by a normal element, namely, the product of the homogeneous prime elements of $R$ (there are finitely many up to associates). Second, in the case when $R$ is connected graded, the unipotent automorphisms of $R$ are classified up to minor excepti…
Let $P(\mathrm{sl}_2(K))$ be the Poisson enveloping algebra of the Lie algebra $\mathrm{sl}_2(K)$ over an algebraically closed field $K$ of characteristic zero. The quotient algebras $ $ $P(\mathrm{sl}_2(K))/(C_P-λ)$, where $C_P$ is the standard Casimir element of $\mathrm{sl}_2(K)$ in $P(\mathrm{sl}_2(K))$ and $0\neq λ\in K$, are proven to be simple in \cite{UZh}. Using a result by L. Makar-Limanov \cite{ML90}, we describe generators of the automorphism group of $P(\mathrm{sl}_2(K))/(C_P-λ)$ and represent this group as an amalgamated product of its subgroups. Moreover, using similar results b…
We construct an explicit set of algebraically independent generators for the center of the universal enveloping algebra of the centralizer of a nilpotent matrix in the Lie algebra gl_N(C). In particular, this gives a new proof of the freeness of the center, a result first proved by Panyushev, Premet and Yakimova (math.RT/0610049).
We determine the group of algebra automorphisms for the two-parameter quantized enveloping algebra $\V$. As an application, we prove that the group of Hopf algebra automorphisms for $\V$ is isomorphic to a torus of rank two.
In this paper is devoted to nilpotent finite-dimensional evolution algebras E with $dimE^2 = dimE-1$. We described Lie algebras associated with evolution algebras whose nilindex is maximal. Moreover, in terms of this Lie algebra we fully construct nilpotent evolution algebra with maximal index of nilpotency. Furthermore, this result allowed us fully characterize all local and 2-local derivations of the considered evolution algebras. All automorphisms and local automorphisms of the nilpotent evolution algebras with maximal nilindex are found.
We describe the groups of inner and outer automorphisms of the free metabelian nilpotent Lie algebra of finite rank over a field of characteristic 0. To obtain this result we first describe the groups of inner and continuous outer automorphisms of the completion with respect to the formal power series topology of the free metabelian Lie algebra finite rank.
Let L be the free m-generated metabelian nilpotent of class c Lie algebra over a field of characteristic 0. An automorphism f of L is called normal if f(I)=I for every ideal I of the algebra L. Such automorphisms form a normal subgroup N(L) of Aut(L) containing the group of inner automorphisms. We describe the group of normal automorphisms of L and the quotient group of Aut(L) modulo N(L).
Each matrix A in GL_n(Z) naturally defines an automorphism f of the free r-step nilpotent Lie algebra on n generators. We study the relationship between the matrix A and the eigenvalues and rational invariant subspaces for f. We give applications to the study of Anosov automorphisms.
We prove that any finite W-algebra U(g,e) admits a one-dimensional representation fixed by the action of the component group of the centraliser of e. As a consequence, for any nilpotent orbit O in g there exists a multiplicity-free (and hence completely prime) primitive ideal of the universal enveloping algebra U(g) whose associated variety coincides with the Zariski closure of O.
Let L be a restricted Lie algebra over a field of characteristic p > 2 and denote by u(L) its restricted enveloping algebra. We determine the conditions under which the set of symmetric elements of u(L) with respect to the principal involution is Lie solvable, Lie nilpotent, or bounded Lie Engel.
Let R be a Lie nilpotent algebra of index k over a field K of characteristic zero. If G is an n-element subgroup of Aut(R) of the K-automorphisms, then we prove that R is right integral over Fix(G) of degree n^k. In the presence of a primitive n-th root of unity e in K, for a K-automorphism d in Aut(R) with d^n=id, we prove that the skew polynomial algebra R[w,d] is right integral of degree n^k over Fix(d)[w^n].
Let $G$ be a simply connected, nilpotent Lie group with Lie algebra $\gee$. The group $G$ acts on the dual space $\gee^*$ by the coadjoint action. %% which partitions $\gee^*$ into coadjoint orbits. By the orbit method of Kirillov, the simple unitary representations of $G$ are in bijective correspondence with the coadjoint orbits in $\gee^*$, which in turn are in bijective correspondence with the primitive ideals of the universal enveloping algebra of $\gee$. The number of simple $\gee$-modules which have a common eigenvector for a particular subalgebra of $\gee$ and are annihilated by a parti…
We consider a family of 2-step nilpotent Lie algebras associated to uniform complete graphs on odd number of vertices. We prove that the symmetry group of such a graph is the holomorph of the additive cyclic group $\Z_n$. Moreover, we prove that the (Lie) automorphism group of the corresponding nilpotent Lie algebra contains the dihedral group of order $2n$ as a subgroup.
We investigate the notions of weak annihilator and nilpotent associated prime defined by Ouyang and Birkenmeier \cite{OuyangBirkenmeier2012} in the setting of noncommutative rings having PBW bases. We extend several results formulated in the literature concerning annihilators and associated primes of commutative rings and skew polynomial rings to a more general setting of algebras not considered before. We exemplify our results with families of algebras appearing in the theory of enveloping algebras, differential operators on noncommutative spaces, noncommutative algebraic geometry, and theore…
We prove a refinement of Ado's theorem for Lie algebras over an algebraically-closed field of characteristic zero. We first define what it means for a Lie algebra $L$ to be approximated with a nilpotent ideal, and we then use such an approximation to construct a faithful representation of $L$. The better the approximation, the smaller the degree of the representation will be. We obtain, in particular, explicit and combinatorial upper bounds for the minimal degree of a faithful $L$-representation. The proofs use the universal enveloping algebra of Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt and the almost-algebraic…
The present paper is devoted to local and 2-local derivations and automorphism of complex finite-dimensional simple Leibniz algebras. We prove that all local derivations and 2-local derivations on a finite-dimensional complex simple Leibniz algebra are automatically derivations. We show that nilpotent Leibniz algebras as a rule admit local derivations and 2-local derivations which are not derivations. Further we consider automorphisms of simple Leibniz algebras. We prove that every 2-local automorphism on a complex finite-dimensional simple Leibniz algebra is an automorphism and show that nilp…
Using cocycle twists for associative graded algebras, we characterize finite dimensional nilpotent Lie color algebras $L$ graded by arbitrary abelian groups whose enveloping algebras $U(L)$ have the property that the injective hulls of simple right $U(L)$-modules are locally Artinian. We also collect together results on gradings on Lie algebras arising from this characterization.
We first discuss the construction by Perez-Izquierdo and Shestakov of universal nonassociative enveloping algebras of Malcev algebras. We then describe recent results on explicit structure constants for the universal enveloping algebras (both nonassociative and alternative) of the 4-dimensional solvable Malcev algebra and the 5-dimensional nilpotent Malcev algebra. We include a proof (due to Shestakov) that the universal alternative enveloping algebra of the real 7-dimensional simple Malcev algebra is isomorphic to the 8-dimensional division algebra of real octonions. We conclude with some bri…
We describe two algorithms for finding representatives of the nilpotent orbits of a theta-group. The algorithms have been implemented in the computer algebra system GAP (inside the package SLA). We comment on their performance. We apply the algorithms to study the nilpotent orbits of theta-groups, where theta is an N-regular automorphism of a simple Lie algebra of exceptional type.
In the present paper, we determine the group of automorphisms of pseudo $H$-type Lie algebras, which are two-step nilpotent Lie algebras closely related to the Clifford algebras $\Cl(\mathbb R^{r,s})$.
Let $(H,α)$ be a monoidal Hom-Hopf algebra and $^{H}_{H}\mathcal{HYD}$ the Hom-Yetter-Drinfeld category over $(H,α)$. Then in this paper, we first introduce the definition of braided Hom-Lie algebras and show that each monoidal Hom-algebra in $^{H}_{H}\mathcal{HYD}$ gives rise to a braided Hom-Lie algebra. Second, we prove that if $(A,β)$ is a sum of two $H$-commutative monoidal Hom-subalgebras, then the commutator Hom-ideal $[A,A]$ of $A$ is nilpotent. Also, we study the central invariant of braided Hom-Lie algebras as a generalization of generalized Lie algebras. Finally, we obtain a constru…

We compute the automorphism group of the q-enveloping algebra U_q(sl_4^+) of the nilpotent Lie algebra of strictly upper triangular matrices of size 4. The result obtained gives a positive answer to a conjecture of Andruskiewitsch and Dumas. We also compute the derivations of this algebra and then show that the Hochschild cohomology group of degree 1 of this algebra is a free (left)-module of rank 3 (which is the rank of the Lie algebra sl(4)) over the center of U_q(sl_4^+).
We obtain a recurrent and monotone method for constructing and classifying nilpotent Lie algebras by means of successive central extensions. It consists in calculating the second cohomology of an extendable nilpotent Lie algebra with the subsequent study of the orbit space geometry of the automorphism group action on Grassmannians defined in terms of the second cohomology of the extendable nilpotent Lie algebra. Such a geometric method allows to classify some classes of nilpotent Lie algebras. The concept of a rigid central extension is introduced.
The principal filtration of the infinite-dimensional odd Contact Lie superalgebra over a field of characteristic $p>2$ is proved to be invariant under the automorphism group by investigating ad-nilpotent elements and determining certain invariants such as subalgebras generated by some ad-nilpotent elements. Then, it is proved that two automorphisms coincide if and only if they coincide on the -1 component with respect to the principal grading. Finally, all the odd Contact superalgebras are classified up to isomorphisms.
The Calabi-Yau property of cocommutative Hopf algebras is discussed by using the homological integral, a recently introduced tool for studying infinite dimensional AS-Gorenstein Hopf algebras. It is shown that the skew-group algebra of a universal enveloping algebra of a finite dimensional Lie algebra $\g$ with a finite subgroup $G$ of automorphisms of $\g$ is Calabi-Yau if and only if the universal enveloping algebra itself is Calabi-Yau and $G$ is a subgroup of the special linear group $SL(\g)$. The Noetherian cocommutative Calabi-Yau Hopf algebras of dimension not larger than 3 are describe…
Let $Q$ be a finite type quiver i.e. ADE Dynkin quiver. Denote by $Λ$ its preprojective algebra. It is known that there are finitely many indecomposable $Λ$-modules if and only if $Q$ is of type $A_1,A_2,A_3,A_4$. In this paper, extending Lusztig's construction of $U\frak{n}_+$, we study an algebra generated by these indecomposable submodules. It turns out that it forms the universal enveloping algebra of some nilpotent Lie algebra inside the function algebra on Lusztig's nilpotent scheme. The defining relations of the corresponding nilpotent Lie algebra for type $A_1, A_2,A_3,A_4$ are given h…
Let $k$ be an arbitrary field of characteristic $0$. It is shown that for any $n\geq 1$ the universal enveloping algebras of the Poisson symplectic algebra $P_n(k)$ and the Weyl algebra $A_n(k)$ are isomorphic and the canonical isomorphism between them easily leads to the Moyal product. A basis of the universal enveloping algebra $P^e$ of a free Poisson algebra $P=k\{x_1,...,x_n\}$ is constructed and proved that the left dependency of a finite number of elements of $P^e$ over $P^e$ is algorithmically recognizable. We prove that if two elements of a free Poisson algebra do not generate a free t…
Many important quantum algebras such as quantum symplectic space, quantum Euclidean space, quantum matrices, $q$-analogs of the Heisenberg algebra and the quantum Weyl algebra are semi-commutative. In addition, enveloping algebras $U(L_+)$ of even Lie color algebras are also semi-commutative. In this paper, we generalize work of Montgomery and examine the $X$-inner automorphisms of such algebras. The theorems and examples in our paper show that for algebras $R$ of this type, the non-identity $X$-inner automorphisms of $R$ tend to have infinite order. Thus if $G$ is a finite group of automorphi…
We generalize a theorem of Kapranov by showing that the Hall algebra of the category of coherent sheaves on a weighted projective line (over a finite field) provides a realization of the (quantized) enveloping algebra of a certain nilpotent subalgebra of the affinization of the correponding Kac-Moody algebra. In particular this yieds a geometric realization of the quantized enveloping algebra of 2-toroidal (or elliptic) algebras of types D_4, E_6, E_7 or E_8 in terms of weighted projective lines of genus one.
Suppose that a Lie type algebra L over a field K admits a Frobenius group of automorphisms FH with cyclic kernel F of order n and complement H such that the fixed-point subalgebra of F is trivial and the fixed-point subalgebra of H is nilpotent of class c. If the ground field K contains a primitive n-th root of unity, then L is nilpotent and the nilpotency class of L is bounded in terms of |H| and c. The result extends the known theorem of Khukhro, Makarenko and Shumyatsky on Lie algebras with metacyclic Frobenius group of automorphisms.
Let $A$ be an algebra over a field $K$ of characteristic zero, let $\d_1, >..., \d_s\in \Der_K(A)$ be {\em commuting locally nilpotent} $K$-derivations such that $\d_i(x_j)=\d_{ij}$, the Kronecker delta, for some elements $x_1,..., x_s\in A$. A set of algebra generators for the algebra $A^\d:= \cap_{i=1}^s\ker (\d_i)$ is found {\em explicitly} and a set of {\em defining relations} for the algebra $A^\d$ is described. Similarly, given a set $\s_1, ..., \s_s\in \Aut_K(A)$ of {\em commuting} $K$-automorphisms of the algebra $A$ such that the maps $\s_i-{\rm id_A}$ are {\em locally nilpotent} and …
In this work we find necessary and sufficient conditions for a free nilpotent or a free metabelian nilpotent Lie algebra to be endowed with an ad-invariant metric. For such nilpotent Lie algebras admitting an ad-invariant metric the corresponding automorphisms groups are studied.
We determine normal forms of the multiplication of four-dimensional anti-commutative algebras over a field $\mathbb K$ of characteristic zero having an analogous family of flags of subalgebras as the four-dimensional non-Lie binary Lie algebras, and hence can be considered as the closest relatives of binary Lie algebras. These algebras are extensions of $\mathbb K$ by the 3-dimensional nilpotent Lie algebra and at the same time extensions of a two-dimensional Lie algebra by a two-dimensional abelian algebra. We describe their groups of automorphisms as extensions of a subgroup of the group of …
We consider the structure of groups and algebras that can be represented as automorphisms or derivations of distributive products -- which includes nonassociative rings, modules, forms, and commutation of groups and nonassociative loops. In many ways this is too broad to be possible, for instance even naive structure, such as inner automorphisms and derivations, are undefined for general bilinear maps. The appeal for working in this generality is broad applicability. We introduce fundamental structures and prove several results akin to ones in ring theory, including theorems of Morita and of S…
Let $k_q[x, x^{-1}, y]$ be the localization of the quantum plane $k_q[x, y]$ over a field $k$, where $0\neq q\in k$. Then $k_q[x, x^{-1}, y]$ is a graded Hopf algebra, which can be regarded as the non-negative part of the quantum enveloping algebra $U_q({\mathfrak sl}_2)$. Under the assumption that $q$ is not a root of unity, we investigate the coalgebra automorphism group of $k_q[x, x^{-1}, y]$. We describe the structures of the graded coalgebra automorphism group and the coalgebra automorphism group of $k_q[x, x^{-1}, y]$, respectively.
We prove that every $2$-local automorphism on a finite-dimensional semi-simple Lie algebra $\mathcal{L}$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero is an automorphism. We also show that each finite-dimensional nilpotent Lie algebra $\mathcal{L}$ with $\dim \mathcal{L}\geq 2$ admits a $2$-local automorphism which is not an automorphism.
We study localizations (in the sense of J. L. Taylor) of the universal enveloping algebra, U(g), of a complex Lie algebra g. Specifically, let f : U(g) --> H be a homomorphism to some well-behaved topological Hopf algebra H. We formulate some conditions on the dual algebra, H', that are sufficient for H to be stably flat over U(g) (i.e., for f to be a localization). As an application, we prove that the Arens-Michael envelope of U(g) is stably flat over U(g) provided g admits a positive grading. We also show that Goodman's weighted completions of U(g) are stably flat over U(g) for each nilpoten…
