The three electromagnetic form factors of the $Δ(1232)$ resonance, $G^*_M(q^2)$, $G^*_E(q^2)$, and $G^*_C(q^2)$ are obtained in the space-like region using a Dual Resonance Model realization of QCD in the large $N_c$ limit (Dual-${QCD}_{\infty}$). Each form factor involves a single free parameter which is fixed by fitting data on $G^*_M(q^2)$, and on the ratios $R_{EM}(q^2)$ and $R_{SM}(q^2)$. Good agreement with experiment is obtained for all three quantities. Results are then used to predict the $q^2$-dependence of the chiral effective-field theory form factors $g_M(q^2)$, $g_E(q^2)$, and $g_C(q^2)$.
A relativistic quark model and a new set of wave functions of nucleon and Delta have been used to study the electromagnetic propertities of (1/2)^+ baryons and photoelectric production of Delta(1236).
We consider the QCD sum rules approach for Delta-isobar magnetic form factor in the infra-red region $0<Q^2<1GeV^2$. The QCD sum rules in external variable field are used. The obtained formfactor is in agreement with quark model predictions for the Delta-isobar magnetic moment.
I present quenched, lattice QCD calculations of the hadronic matrix elements relevant for B^0_{d(s)}-\bar B^0_{d(s)} and K^0-\bar K^0 mixing and briefly review the status of lattice predictions.
In kaon decay, electromagnetic radiative corrections can generate shifts in the apparent Delta I = 3/2 amplitude of order alpha A_0/A_2 ~ 22 alpha. In order to know the true Delta I = 3/2 amplitude for comparison with lattice calculations and phenomenology, one needs to subtract off this electromagnetic effect. We provide a careful estimate of the electromagnetic shift in the amplitude, which shows that it is smaller than naive expectations, with a fractional shift of delta A_2/A_2 = -0.016 +- 0.01.
The "g_{Delta N gamma}" coupling for the "Delta -> N gamma" decay is calculated in framework of the light cone QCD sum rules and is found to be g_{Delta N gamma} = (1.6 pm 0.2) GeV^(-1). Using this value of g_{Delta N gamma} we estimate the branching ratio of the Delta^+ -> N gamma decay, which is in a very good agreement with the experimental result.
We calculate the magnetic moments of Delta baryons within the framework of QCD sum rules. A comparison of our results on the magnetic moments of the Delta baryons with the predictions of different approaches is presented.
The axial N-> Delta(1232) transition form factors are calculated within the light cone QCD sum rules method. A comparison of our results with predictions of lattice theory and quark model calculations is pre- sented.
The mass spectrum of Delta resonances is compared to predictions based on three quark-model variants, to predictions assuming that chiral symmetry is restored in high-mass baryon resonances, and to predictions derived from AdS/QCD. The latter approach yields a nearly perfect agreement when the confinement property of QCD is modeled by a soft wall in AdS.
We examine the electromagnetic properties of the Delta(1232) resonance within the self-consistent chiral quark-soliton model. In particular we present the Delta form factors of the vector-current GE0, GE2 and GM1 for a momentum-transfer range of $Q^{2} \leq 1GeV^{2}$. We apply the symmetry-conserving quantization of the soliton and take 1/N_c rotational corrections into account. Values for the magnetic moments of all decuplet baryons as well as for the N-Delta transition are given. Special interest is also given to the electric quadrupole moment of the Delta.
The decay Delta^+ --> p gamma is studied in the 1/N_c expansion of QCD. The ratio of the helicity amplitudes is determined to be A_{3/2}/A_{1/2} = \sqrt{3} + O(1/N_c^2). Equivalently, the ratio E2/M1 of the multipole amplitudes is predicted to be order 1/N_c^2.
The electromagnetic form factors of the Delta and Omega baryons are calculated in the framework of Poincare-covariant bound-state equations. The quark-quark interaction is truncated to a single dressed-gluon exchange where for the dressings we use two different models and compare the results. The calculation predicts an oblate shape for the electric charge distribution and a prolate shape for the magnetic dipole distribution. We also identify the necessity of including pion-cloud corrections at low photon-momentum transfer.
We apply the perturbative chiral quark model to the gamma N -> Delta transition. The four momentum dependence of the respective transverse helicity amplitudes A(1/2) and A(3/2) is determined at one loop in the pseudoscalar Goldstone boson fluctuations. Inclusion of excited states in the quark propagator is shown to result in a reasonable description of the experimental values for the helicity amplitudes at the real photon point.
In the context of the Supersymmetric Standard Model with hierarchical sfermion masses, we re-analyze the QCD corrections to Delta F=2 effective Hamiltonian properly including effects which have been neglected so far. The point is that some Delta F=2 diagrams, involving both the heavy and the light sparticles, exhibit a logarithmic dependence on the ratio between the two masses, signalling a sensitivity to all the momenta between the two scales. In order to properly deal with these terms one has to take into account the mixing between Delta F=1 and Delta F=2 operators. In typical situations thi…
We discuss the application of an analytic approach called the analytic perturbation theory (APT) to the QCD analysis of DIS data. In particular, the results of the QCD analysis of a set of `fake' data on the polarized nonsinglet Delta{q3} and the nonsinglet fragmentation function D^{pi+}_{u_v} by using the Q^2-evolution within the APT are considered. The `fake' data are constructed based on parametrization of the polarized PDF and nonsinglet combination of the pion fragmentation functions. We confirm that APT can be successfully applied to QCD analysis of Delta{q_3}(x,Q^2) and D^{pi+}_{u_v}(z,…
Using the positivity of the path integral measure of $QCD$ and defining a structure for the quark propagator in a background field according to the fluxon scenario for confinement, we calculate and compare the correlators for nucleon and delta. From their shape we elucidate about the origin of their mass difference, which in our simplified scenario is due to the tensor structure in the propagator. This term arises due to a dynamical mechanism which is responsible simultaneously for confinement and spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking. Finally we discuss, by comparing the calculated correlators…
Relations between nucleon, $Δ$ and nucleon-$Δ$ electromagnetic properties associated with chiral physics which have been derived in a pure large-$N_c$ limit are greatly modified in a combined large $N_c$ and chiral limits; the large $N_c$ relations are valid for $(M_Δ-M_N)/m_π<<1$. The E2/M1 ratio for the nucleon-$Δ$ transition is shown to scale as $ε^{-1}$ (with $ε\sim 1/N_c$, $ε\sim m_π/Λ$ with $Λ$ a typical hadronic scale) in the combined large $N_c$ and chiral expansions as opposed to $N_c^{-2}$ in the pure large $N_c$ expansion.
We examine the large-$N_c$ relations which express the electromagnetic $N$-to-$Δ$ transition quantities in terms of the electromagnetic properties of the nucleon. These relations are based on the known large-$N_c$ relation between the $N\to Δ$ electric quadrupole moment and the neutron charge radius, and a newly derived large-$N_c$ relation between the electric quadrupole ($E2$) and Coulomb quadrupole ($C2$) transitions. Extending these relations to finite, but small, momentum transfer we find that the description of the electromagnetic $N\toΔ$ ratios ($R_{EM}$ and $R_{SM}$) in terms of the nu…
We have performed a numerical analysis of branching ratios and direct CP-asymmetries of B meson decays to two light pseudoscalar nonets with deltaS=1 using QCD improved factorization. The parameters related to B meson including its semileptonic form factors, strange quark mass and the CKM phase angle have been varied over a limited range and phenomenological parameters used to parameterize divergences in hard spectator scattering and weak annihilation have been varied over a wide range simultaneously with an aim to achieve a fit of branching ratios and some direct CP-asymmetries. A good fit fo…
We present analytic formulae for the QCD renormalization group factors relating the Wilson coefficients C_i(mu_t) and C_i(mu), with mu_t = O(m_t) and mu < mu_t, of the Delta F=2 dimension six four-quark operators Q_i in the Standard Model and in all of its extensions. Analogous analytic formulae for the QCD factors relating the matrix elements <Q_i(2 GeV)> and <Q_i(mu_K)> with mu_K < 2GeV are also presented. The formulae are given in the NDR scheme. The strongest renormalization-group effects are found for the operators with the Dirac structures (1 - gamma_5)*(1 + gamma_5) and (1 - gamma_5)*(1…
We study the $ΔI = 1/2$ rule for kaon decays and the $B_K$ parameter for $K^0 - {\bar K}^0$ mixing in a dual 5-dimensional holographic QCD model. We perform, in the chiral limit, computations of the relevant four-point current-current correlators, which depend upon self-interactions among the 5D bulk fields. Spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking ($χ$SB) is realized through boundary conditions on the bulk fields. Numerical results are analyzed in comparison with QCD, chiral perturbation theory ($χ$PT) and data, finding reasonable agreement with the experimental values of the $g_8$ and $g_{27}$ p…
We present preliminary results for B_K, B_7^{3/2} and B_8^{3/2} from two high-statistics lattice computations. These calculations are performed at beta=6.0 and 6.2 in the quenched approximation, using mean-field-improved Sheikholeslami-Wohlert fermionic actions.
The C2/M1 ratio of the electromagnetic N->Delta(1232) transition, which is important for determining the geometric shape of the nucleon, is shown to be related to the neutron elastic form factor ratio G_C^n/G_M^n. The proposed relation holds with good accuracy for the entire range of momentum transfers where data are available.
We discuss the QCD constraints on e+e- --> baryon-anti-baryon close to threshold, in light of the puzzling experimental data which indicate that close to threshold sigma (e+e- --> n n-bar) > sigma (e+e- --> p p-bar). We focus on the process e+e- --> Delta Delta-bar, which is particularly simple from the theoretical point of view. In this case it is possible to make exact QCD predictions for the relative yields of the four members of the Delta multiplet, modulo one crucial dynamical assumption.
We study the 5D Rarita-Schwinger fields to describe spin 3/2 baryons in AdS/QCD. We calculate the spectrum of spin 3/2 baryons (Delta resonances) and their form factors, together with meson-baryon couplings from AdS/QCD. The transition form-factors between Delta and nucleon are evaluated. Both pion and rho meson couplings have the same origin in the bulk and hence unified. The numerical values for the meson-baryon transition couplings are consistent with the values obtained from other methods. We also predict the numerical values of some new couplings associated with Delta resonances.
The quantum chromodynamics (QCD) sum rules for the Delta baryons are analyzed by taking into account the finite-width effects, through explicit utilization of the Breit-Wigner shape. We apply a Monte-Carlo based analysis to the 'traditional' and the parity-projected sum rules. The first Delta excitation state is also considered as a sub-continuum resonance and the widths are calculated using the mass values as input.
Without any further adjusting of parameters, a relativistic constituent quark model, successful in the description of the data for the nucleon elastic form factors and of the dominant contribution for the nucleon to Delta electromagnetic transition, is used here to predict the dominant electromagnetic form factors of the Delta baryon. The model is based on a simple Delta wave function corresponding to a quark-diquark system in an S-state. The results for E0 and M1 are consistent both with experimental results and lattice calculations. The remaining form factors E2 and M3 vanish, given the symm…
We have calculated the complete matrix of three-loop helicity-difference (`polarized') splitting functions Delta P_ik^(2), i,k = q,g, in massless perturbative QCD. In this note we briefly discuss some properties of the polarized splitting functions and our non-standard determination of the hitherto missing lower-row quantities Delta P_gq^(2) and Delta P_gg^(2). The resulting next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) corrections to the evolution of polarized parton distributions are illustrated and found to be small even at rather large values of the strong coupling constant alpha_s.
The electromagnetic form factor of the eta meson is studied using the Light Cone QCD sum rules approach taking in to account higher twists contributions and SU(3) flavor symmetry breaking effects.
The inclusion of two-body exchange currents in the constituent quark model leads to several new relations between the electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon and Delta(1232). These are:(i) the neutron charge form factor can be expressed as the difference between proton and Delta+ charge form factors, and (ii) the N->Delta charge quadrupole (C2) transition form factor is connected to the charge monopole (C0) form factor of the neutron. The latter relation is used to estimate the charge radius of constituent quarks. Furthermore, we find that exchange currents do not modify the SU(6) relation…
We compute the effective hamiltonian for non-leptonic |Delta F| = 1 decays in the standard model including next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections. In particular, we present the complete three-loop anomalous dimension matrix describing the mixing of current-current and QCD penguin operators. The calculation is performed in an operator basis which allows to consistently use fully anticommuting gamma_5 in dimensional regularization at an arbitrary number of loops. The renormalization scheme dependences and their cancellation in physical quantities is discussed in detail. Furthermore, we de…
Electromagnetic form factors of the transition $π+γ_{virt.}\ra A_1$ are calculated by QCD sum rules technique with the description of the pion in terms of the set of wave functions of increasing twist. Obtained results are compared with standard QCD sum rule calculations.
We evaluate the pion-nucleon and the pion-Delta sigma terms by employing the method of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) sum rules. The obtained value of the pion-nucleon sigma term is compatible with the larger values already anticipated by the recent calculations. It is also found that the pion-Delta sigma term is as large as the pion-nucleon sigma term.
The electromagnetic form factors of octet baryons are estimated within light cone QCD sum rules method, using the most general form of the interpolating current for baryons. A comparison of our predictions on the magnetic dipole and electric form factors with the results of other approaches is performed.
Lattice results on the N to Delta electromagnetic, axial-vector and pseudoscalar form factors are evaluated using dynamical staggered sea quarks and domain wall valence quarks for pion masses in the range of 580-350 MeV, as well as, dynamical and quenched Wilson fermions for similar pion masses.
We discuss the chiral behavior of nucleon and Delta(1232) electromagnetic properties within the framework of a SU(2) covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory. Our one-loop calculation is complete to the order p^3 and p^4/Delta with Delta as the Delta(1232)-nucleon energy gap. We show that the magnetic moment of a resonance can be defined through the linear energy shift only when an additional relation between the involved masses and the applied magnetic field strength is fulfilled. Singularities and cusps in the pion mass dependence of the Delta(1232) electromagnetic moments reflect a non-f…
The holographic QCD prediction for the pion distribution amplitude (DA) $ϕ_{hol}(u)$ is used to compute the pion spacelike electromagnetic form factor $F_π(Q^2)$ within the QCD light-cone sum rule method. In calculations the pion's renormalon-based model twist-4 DA, as well as the asymptotic twist-4 DA are employed. Obtained theoretical predictions are compared with experimental data and with results of the holographic QCD.
Recently, LHCb Collaboration announced the discovery of radial excitations of $D_s$ and $B_s$ mesons. In present work, we calculate the most promising strong and electromagnetic decay widths of radially excited $D_s(2S)$ and $B_s(2S)$ mesons within the light cone QCD sum rules method.
The pion electromagnetic form factor is investigated by using the dispersion relation with the superconvergence condition, which was proposed to synthesize the vector meson dominance model and QCD. The absorptive part is given as an addition of the resonance and the QCD terms, the latter being parametrized so as to realize the prediction of perturbative QCD. The experimental data are analyzed and the parameters for the QCD part, the resonance part as well, are determined. Existing experiments for the form factor are reproduced very well both for the space-like and time-like momenta.
We develop a methodology that enables us to extract accurately the electromagnetic Delta form factors and their momentum dependence. We test our approach in the quenched approximation as a preparation for a study using dynamical fermions. Our calculation of the four form factors covers pion masses between about 410 MeV and 560 MeV on lattices with a size of 2.9 fm and a lattice spacing 0.09 fm. From the form factors we are able to obtain estimates of the magnetic moment and the charge radius of the Delta, which we compare to existing experimental and theoretical results. Our non-zero result for…
The delta-regime of QCD is characterised by light quarks in a small spatial box, but a large extent in (Euclidean) time. In this setting a specific variant of chiral perturbation theory - the delta-expansion - applies, based on a quantum mechanical treatment of the quasi one-dimensional system. In particular, for vanishing quark masses one obtains a residual pion mass M_pi^R, which has been computed to the third order in the delta-expansion. A comparison with numerical measurements of this residual mass allows for a new determination of some Low Energy Constants, which appear in the chiral Lag…
Light cone QCD sum rules for the electromagnetic transition form factors among positive and negative parity octet baryons are derived. The unwanted contributions of the diagonal transitions among positive parity octet baryons are eliminated by combining the sum rules derived from different Lorentz structures. The $Q^2$ dependence for the transversal and longitudinal helicity amplitudes are studied.
The calculation of QCD corrections to the width difference Delta Gamma in the B_s meson system is presented. The next-to-leading order corrections reduce the dependence on the renormalization scale significantly and allow for a meaningful use of hadronic matrix elements from lattice gauge theory. At present the uncertainty of the lattice calculations limits the prediction of Delta Gamma. The presented work has been performed in collaboration with Martin Beneke, Gerhard Buchalla, Christoph Greub and Alexander Lenz.
The nucleon electromagnetic form factors are calculated in light cone QCD sum rules framework using the most general form of the nucleon interpolating current. Using two forms of the distribution amplitudes (DA's), predictions for the form factors are presented and compared with existing experimental data. It is shown that our results describe remarkably well the existing experimental data.
In this talk, results are presented of determinations of electromagnetic form factors of hadrons (pion, proton, and $Δ(1236)$) in the framework of Dual-Large $N_c$ QCD (Dual-$QCD_\infty$). This framework improves considerably tree-level VMD results by incorporating an infinite number of zero-width resonances, with masses and couplings fixed by the dual-resonance (Veneziano-type) model.
We investigate the electromagnetic form factors of the Delta and the Omega baryons within the Poincare-covariant framework of Dyson-Schwinger and Bethe-Salpeter equations. The three-quark core contributions of the form factors are evaluated by employing a quark-diquark approximation. We use a consistent setup for the quark-gluon dressing, the quark-quark bound-state kernel and the quark-photon interaction. Our predictions for the multipole form factors are compatible with available experimental data and quark-model estimates. The current-quark mass evolution of the static electromagnetic prope…
The electromagnetic form factors of the Delta baryon are evaluated within the framework of a covariant spectator quark model, where S and D-states are included in the $Δ$ wave function. We predict all the four Delta multipole form factors: the electric charge GE0, the magnetic dipole GM1, the electric quadrupole GE2 and the magnetic octupole GM3. We compare our predictions with other theoretical calculations. Our results are compatible with the available experimental data and recent lattice QCD data.
Elastic electromagnetic form factors of nucleons are investigated both for the time-like and the space-like momentums under the condition that the QCD constraints are satisfied asymptotically. The unsubtracted dispersion relation with the superconvergence conditions are used as a realization of the QCD conditions. The experimental data are analyzed by using the dispersion formula and it is shown that the calculated form factors reproduce the experimental data reasonably well.
We study baryons as three-body systems using the QCD degrees of freedom in the framework of covariant Bethe-Salpeter equations. The interaction among quarks is reduced to a vector-vector interaction via a single dressed-gluon exchange (Rainbow-Ladder truncation). The formalism allows for the study of the hadron spectrum as well as their internal properties. We will present the calculation of electromagnetic properties of spin-3/2 baryons. The model independent features of our results are assessed using two different models for the dressings.
We discuss the techniques to extract the electromagnetic Delta form factors in Lattice QCD. We evaluate these form factors using dynamical fermions with smallest pion mass of about 350 MeV. We pay particular attention to the extraction of the electric quadrupole form factor that signals a deformation of the Delta. The magnetic moment of the $Δ$ is extrapolated using a chiral effective field theory. Using the form factors we evaluate the transverse density distributions in the infinite momentum frame showing deformation in the Delta.
Quarks play an active role in shaping the QCD vacuum structure. Being dual carriers of both `color' and `electric' charges they also respond to externally applied electromagnetic fields. Thus, in principle, the vacuum of strong interactions influences higher order QED processes such as photon-photon scattering. We survey here the current status of the understanding of the vacuum structure of strong interactions, and take a fresh look at its electromagnetic properties.
The one-loop quark contribution to the QCD effective potential for the homogeneous Abelian gluon field in the presence of external strong electromagnetic field is evaluated. The structure of extrema of the potential as a function of the angles between chromoelectric, chromomagnetic and electromagnetic fields is analyzed. In this setup, the electromagnetic field is considered as an external one while the gluon field represents domain structured nonperturbative gluon configurations related to the QCD vacuum in the confinement phase. Two particularly interesting gluon configurations, (anti-)self-…
We present details of study of the Bjorken polarized sum rule carried out recently in [1] within the range of energies where the data were collected by JLAB collaboration, 0.05 GeV2 < Q2 < 3 GeV2. Three approaches to QCD with analytic (holomorphic) coupling are considered: Analytic Perturbation Theory (APT), Two-delta analytic QCD, and Three-delta lattice-motivated analytic QCD in the three-loop and four-loop MiniMOM schemes. The new frameworks with respective couplings give results which agree well with the experimental data for 0.5 GeV2 < Q2 < 3GeV2 already when only one higher-twist term is…
We show that the splitting between the light pseudo-scalar and vector meson states is due to the strong short-range attraction in the ^1S_0 sector which makes the pion and the kaon light particles. We use a light-cone QCD-inspired model of the mass squared operator with harmonic confinement and a Dirac-delta interaction. We apply a renormalization method to define the model, in which the pseudo-scalar ground state mass fixes the renormalized strength of the Dirac-delta interaction.
We present an improved study of the electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon and of the Roper-nucleon transition using an extended version of the effective action of soft-wall AdS/QCD. We include novel contribution from additional non-minimal terms, which do not renormalize the charge and do not change the normalization of the corresponding form factors, but the inclusion of these terms results in an important contribution to the momentum dependence of the form factors and helicity amplitudes.
We investigate the electromagnetic form factors of the (rho) meson in light cone QCD sum rules. We find that the ratio of the magnetic and charge form factors is larger than two at all values of Q^2, (Q^2 >= 0.5 GeV^2). The values of the individual form factors at fixed values of Q^2 predicted by the light cone QCD sum rules are quite different compared to the results of other approaches. These results can be checked in future, when more precise data on (rho) meson form factors is available.
We analyse matrix elements of Delta B=2 operators by combining QCD results with the ones obtained in the static limit of HQET. The matching of all the QCD operators to HQET is made at NLO order. To do that we have to include the anomalous dimension matrix up to two loops, both in QCD and HQET, and the one loop matching for all the Delta B=2 operators. The matrix elements of these operators are relevant for the prediction of the B-\bar B mixing, B_s meson width difference and supersymmetric effects in Delta B=2 transitions.
In QCD the gauge-invariant gluon polarization Delta G in a nucleon can be defined either in a non-local way as the integral over the Ioffe-time distribution of polarized gluons, or in light-cone gauge as the forward matrix element of the local topological current. We have investigated both possibilities within the framework of QCD sum rules. Although the topological current is built from local fields, we have found that its matrix element retains sensitivity to large longitudinal distances. Because QCD sum rules produce artificial oscillations of the Ioffe-time distribution of polarized glue a…
We present a construction of the pion electromagnetic form factor where the transition from large-Nc Regge vector meson dominance models with infinitely many resonances to perturbative QCD is built in explicitly. The construction is based on an appropriate assignment of residues to the Regge poles, which fulfills the constraints of the parton-hadron duality and perturbative QCD. The model contains a slowly falling off non-perturbative contribution which dominates over the perturbative QCD radiative corrections for the experimentally accessible momenta. The leading order and next-to-leading ord…
In this article, we calculate the electromagnetic form-factor of the $π$ meson with the light-cone QCD sum rules. The numerical value $F_π^{p}(0) =0.999\pm 0.001$ is in excellent agreement with the experimental data (extrapolated to the limit of zero momentum transfer, or the normalization condition $F_π(0)=1$). For large momentum transfers, the values from the two sum rules are all comparable with the experimental data and theoretical estimations.
