We present some recent developments on model building for neutrino masses and mixings. In particular, we review tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing derived from discrete groups, notably A4. We discuss the problems encountered with extending the symmetry to the quark sector and with Grand Unification.
We consider a flavor model based on A4 modular group to account for both lepton and quark parameters (masses and mixing). The inverse seesaw mechanism is considered to produce the light neutrino masses. Lepton masses and mixing are obtained in terms of Yukawa coupling ratios and values of the modulus τ nearby some fixed points for inverted neutrino mass hierarchy. The quark masses and mixing are arisen at the same τ values used in inverted neutrino mass hierarchy and are in agreements with the recent data.
The possible mechanisms of generation of the neutrino of small masses and sterile neutrino are considered. In the supposition of stability of tracks of a left-right symmetry concerning masses of constituent quarks, the angles of mixing of quarks are evaluated. With usage of experimental data on neutrino oscillation parameters the neutrino masses on order of magnitude are computed.
We discuss mass matrices with four texture zeros for the quarks and leptons. The three mixing angles for the quarks and leptons are functions of the fermion masses. The results agree with the experimental data. The ratio of the masses of the first two neutrinos is given by the solar mixing angle. The neutrino masses are calculated: $m_1$ $\approx$ 0.004 eV, $m_2$ $\approx$ 0.010 eV, $m_3$ $\approx$ 0.070 eV.
We consider two Ansatze for the neutrino masses and mixings in which the permutation symmetry is implemented in various orders. We discuss the possible see-saw mechanisms and the charged lepton masses for the two cases in the presence of a Higgs triplet and three Higgs doublets.
It is shown that phenomenologically favorable expressions of quark mixing angles through the ratios of current quark masses may be derived as stable points of certain 4-th power in CKM matrix flavor-invariant potentials built with traces of 3x3 quark up and down mass matrices.
We obtain analytical formulas which connect the neutrino masses and the leptonic mixing matrix with the entries in the mass matrix for the approximation in which the charged lepton mixing matrix is the unit matrix. We also extract the CP violation phase and determine the conditions in which this is present.
We discuss first the flavor mixing of the quarks, using the texture zero mass matrices. Then we study a similar model for the mass matrices of the leptons. We are able to relate the mass eigenvalues of the charged leptons and of the neutrinos to the mixing angles and can predict the masses of the neutrinos. We find a normal hierarchy - the masses are 0.004 eV, 0.01 eV and 0.05 eV. The atmospheric mixing angle is given by the mass ratios of the charged leptons and the neutrinos. we find about 40 degrees, consistent with the experiments. The mixing element, connecting the first neutrino wit the …
We discuss the neutrino oscillations, using texture zero mass matrices for the leptons. The reactor mixing angle $θ^{}_{l}$ is calculated. The ratio of the masses of two neutrinos is determined by the solar mixing angle. We can calculate the masses of the three neutrinos: $m_1$ $\approx$ 0.003 eV - $m_2$ $\approx$ 0.012 eV - $m_3$ $\approx$ 0.048 eV.
In this talk I present my personal summary of the progress on the determination of the masses of the neutrinos and of the leptonic flavour mixing from the combined analysis of the experimental results.
The impact of renormalization group equations(RGEs) on neutrino masses and mixings at high energy scales in Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model(MSSM) is studied using two different mixing patterns such as Tri-Bimaximal(TBM) mixing and Golden Ratio(GR) mixing in consistent with cosmological bound of the sum of three neutrino masses, $\sum _{i}|m_{i}|$. Magnifications of neutrino masses and mixing angles at low energy scale, are obtained by giving proper input masses, and mixing angles from TBM mixing matrix and GR mixing matrix at high energy scales. High energy scales, $M_{R}$ such as $10^{1…
We study a class of models for tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing in SO(10) grand unified SUSY framework. Neutrino masses arise from both type-I and type-II seesaw mechanisms. We use dimension five operators in order to not spoil tri-bimaximal mixing by means of type-I contribution in the neutrino sector. We show that it is possible to fit all fermion masses and mixings including also the recent T2K result as deviation from the tri-bimaximal.
A SUSY SO(10) $\times A_4$ GUT model is constructed for fermion masses and mixing by introducing a minimal set of low dimensional Higgs representations needed to break the guage symmetry down to $SU(3)_c \times U(1)_{em}$. The hierarchy of fermion masses can be understood in the framework of $A_4$ symmetry. From the $A_4$-invariant superpotential, the "double lopsided" mass matrices for the charged leptons and the down quarks are obtained. It is shown that this structure leads to bi-large neutrino mixings simultaneously with small CKM mixing angles. An excellent fit to the masses and mixings o…

Some properties of lepton mixing and neutrino masses can be computed under the assumption of A5 and CP as a symmetry in the leptonic sector. The results show that four mixing patterns accommodate well the oscillation data, i.e. all the mixing angles are in the 3sigma confidence region. We also introduce an explicit realization of this framework in the case of the Weinberg operator where the neutrino mass spectrum can be computed.
We consider different extensions of the standard model which can give rise to the small active neutrino masses through seesaw mechanisms, and their mixing. These tiny neutrino masses are generated at some high energy scale by the heavy seesaw fields which then get sequentially decoupled to give an effective dimension-5 operator. The renormalization group evolution of the masses and the mixing parameters of the three active neutrinos in the high energy as well as the low energy effective theory is reviewed in this article.
We propose a scheme, based on Δ(27) flavor symmetry and supplemented by other discrete symmetries and inverse seesaw mechanism, where both the light neutrino masses and the deviation from tri-bimaximal mixing matrix can be linked to the source of lepton number violation. The hierarchies of the charged leptons are explained. We find that the quark masses including their hierarchies and the mixing can also be constructed in a similar way.
In the scenario with degenerate neutrino masses at tree-level, we show how threshold corrections with either non-trivial or trivial mixing at tree-level have the power to generate the observed deviations from a degenerate spectrum. Moreover, it is possible to also generate the mixing fully radiatively when there is trivial mixing at tree-level. We give a brief overview over the topic and discuss the outcome of threshold corrections for degenerate neutrino masses in a supersymmetric model. A detailed description can be found in [arXiv:1412.4585].
We present an SU(12) unification model with three light chiral families, avoiding any external flavor symmetries. The hierarchy of quark and lepton masses and mixings is explained by higher dimensional Yukawa interactions involving Higgs bosons that contain SU(5) singlet fields with VEVs about 50 times smaller than the SU(12) unification scale. The presented model has been analyzed in detail and found to be in very good agreement with the observed quark and lepton masses and mixings.
